Lilian Jackson Braun Died on June 4th 2011 just short of her 98th birthday. The New York times posted an obituary. she was born June 20th 1913. I will miss the cat who books. They were for the most part well written. The last few were a bit disjointed and I have yet to read the last one as I did not want to see what had become of the series. I had read spoilers. I will miss her.

I love the Broken Heart Series but Cross Your Heart is the best one yet. It is the story of Elizabeth Bretton. She is a descendant of one of the founders of Broken Heart,And on of the 10 Vampires that were turned at the beginning of the series. This story was a great read over Halloween as it is full of ghosts. Or maybe I should say one ghost. the reason for all the problems That town of Broken Heart has had its share of tragedies and this book solves the mystery of why. Its more like a Mystery then a PNR but don’t get me wrong it is a full out Paranormal Romance Novel. Complete with a happy ending. I am looking forward to the next book in the series. .There is an excerpt from the next in the series Must Love Lycans. 5 out of 5 bats

While I usually don't read YA Fiction of any kind, there are some authors I will read what ever they write. Having said that I will not normally review YA. I heard such good things about Paranormalcy that I was sure I would read it and then move on to something else. But I found that Paranormalcy was a book I could not only enjoy but thought other adults would enjoy it as well. Evie is a teenager with an adult job and has had that job for a long time. She does realize though that she cant save the world by herself. I got the feeling all the way though the book that she was just a teenager with a different type of life. The book is fun and easy to read. I will look forward to more books by Kiersten White. 5 out of 5 bats

I loved the book. Its a mystery with Ghosts. The heroine is fun and sounds like someone I would love to sit down with and talk ghosts, maybe have a cup of tea. Well educated and stylish Emma is a Middle aged women starting a new life. Granny Apples also someone I could like in real life or afterlife, a kind sarcastic ghost sensitive about her age. We get to visit the town of Julian California.While the book is fiction the town of Julian is not. A historic gold mining town east of San Diego, a great family destination and beautiful all year. I would love to visit someday. The next book in the series sees Emma with many positive changes in her life like a new talk show about things all things Ghosts and maybe a new man in her life. I really liked this book. It was different then most urban fantasy out there. This is a Vampire Mystery. Hay why not. It's the first in a the new Series Fang-In-Cheek by Sue Ann Jaffarian, I liked this book a lot. a real who done it and I had no idea who until the end. But I wish Madison was a bit more kick ass. She goes along with the vampires a bit to easy for me. she also seems a bit weak. I am not sure if that’s how I am reading it becasue there are so many strong caritures in Vampire stories or if its the way its written. I think Madison will grow as the series grows and its nice to have something a bit different to read. And on top of everything else it has a great cover. I will just have to wait for the next book in the series. There is an excerpt for the next book in the series but as yet it does not seem to have a title.

Downside Ghosts is the new Urban Fantasy series. by Stacia Kane. I find the series gritty and unconventional. I am taken to another world, One I can only imagine. Somehow Stacia Kane takes me there with no effort at all. She gets into the life of an addict in a way that I find refreshing without being condoning. When Unholy Ghosts was recommended to me I though. "I don't know if I am going to like a story with an addict as the heroine (Chess Putnum)". But I found that yes I could like it. I see a character with her life falling apart but that does not take away from the stories. I give this a 4 out of 5 rating. I class this as Urban Fantasy with shades of Horror.

Jackie Kessler has provided this free e-book for her fans. We get one new chapter a week and she is on chapter 17 so far. I love this story. I have not read her other work in some time and plan on going back soon very soon and reading her other books. Its always fun to find a new author or rediscover and author you have not read in ages. But what I like even more is to find these free e-Books that some authors have provided for their fans. If you know of any authors that have provided free e-books online for us to read please let me know. I plan to post any that I find and enjoy here for the rest of you to read. I am on chapter 4 so far.

I just love the “Sisters of the Otherworld“ series. I own them all, and I will just have to wait 3 more days until Tuesday, January 5th, 2010, to read the 7th book, Bone Magic.

The series follows 3 sisters that are half human and half fay. They were stranded here on earth when civil war brakes out in Otherworld. They have their hands full trying to keep the lid on a demon situation here on earth as well as worry about their friends and family left at home. .

If this book is like the rest it can be read by itself but will be much better if read as part of the series. This book looks like it might be a bit darker then the rest. I am looking forward to seeing just how much darker.

Ms. Galenorn is now a NY Times best selling author and I believe it is because each book is a bit better then the last and for me, anyway, a bit darker. The sisters are a family. In good times as well as bad. I don’t think times can get much worse for them, from what I have heard about this book. They will get the job done, you can count on it.

Pride by Rachel Vincent (Review)

I loved Stray , and Rouge was even better but with Pride we truly see the character of Faythe grow even more. Faythe is not the only one to grow Rachel Vincent has grown as a writer as well. Stray was a well written book but having said that it was a first book. Rachel's writing was stronger with the second book but I found myself wondering where the story was headed. New we know where the story is headed and I for one cant wait to get there.

In Pride Faythe sees the results of her choices and her recklessness. She loses things she never thought would be taken from her. She finds out that the choices she makes have consequences for the people that support her as well. Its not all about her.

I found myself laughing and crying and cheering Faythe on. I am waiting for Pray and will just have to find more books to read to make the next 6 months go really fast.

A very successful book shopping trip

I don't buy a lot of books. I just can't afford them. 2 times a year though I get Chapters Gift Cards. Chapters is a large book retailer in Canada much like Barns and Nobel is in the US. Those Times are Christmas and my birthday. This year I got one as a thank you. 25.00 extra book buying dollars. In Canada 25.00 does not go far when buying books. I do think I did really well though. First I got the Newly released Pride by Rachel Vincent 6.99 the same price as in the US. and At Graves's End by Jeaniene Frost 9.99 Canadian.Then I hit the Clearance Bin and Picked up 4 Trade paper backs. Usually ab out 14.00 to 18.00 CAD each. I wont say how little I paid for the four trades buy I got all 6 books for under 30.00 including tax. The 4 books are Hell on Heels by Julie Kenner, Kathleen 0'Reilly and Dee Davis. Best new paranormal romance edited by Paula Guran, 12 stories in this one. Mona Lisa Blossoming by Sunny and Heat of the night by Emma Holly

I have read pride already and will post my review in the next blog.

Planing a book buying trip

Planing a book buying trip is just so much easier now that I have the calendar up and running. I still need a better name for it. One Name that has come up is Dark Dreams upcoming books.

I have a list of books that are coming out this week and next that I really want. So I have my list and I will hit the book store later today. Books on my list are Pride, Bone Crossed, Kitty and the Dead Man's Hand, Men of the Underworld, and not to forget At Grave's End. I also have a few from my to read list. Brimstone Kiss is at the top of the list right now. I can't afford them all of course buy I hope a few will be available on the store shelves. There are always more books then funds. Twilight Movie Review

I had a few rules for myself when I started this Blog. But rules are meant to be broken.

First Rule was NO Movie Reviews. That's the rule that I am braking

I went to see twilight. I went kicking and screaming. I told my friend it's a movie for teens, it had some bad reviews, I have not read the book. She whined and begged and then said she would pay for my ticket and buy the popcorn.

I went not thinking I would like it. Well the reviews were right in a way. The casting sucked. Edward Pettinson was a good (Edward) and Kristen Stewart was not bad as (Bella)
Most of the time I did not see any chemistry between them though. The rest of the Cullen clan seemed a bit stilted to me. These people have been together for Centuries. But I felt they seemed like they had just gotten together.

Now having said all of that, I actually liked the movie. The baseball scene was great and the action rocks. Elliot Davis should win awards for the Cinematography. I have heard they have a new director coming in for the next installment so maybe just maybe things will change and it will be GREAT.
