Tutorial: Sophie-I

Some of you may have gotten mail from Illamasqua, about the Sophie-I technique, which is sorta related to Illamasqua's pencil technique, skin sketching.
Anyway, this look is made to support S.O.P.H.I.E. Lancaster Foundation (if you're not familiar with it yet, go check it out. I think it's worth watching) and the look is created by the amazing Alex Box, and it actually comes with a picture tutorial!
I wanted to redo the look, so I took some tips from the tutorial, and did some things to make it more mine, but I included both my and Illamasqua's pics for you.

Here we go:

I started with priming my eye (I used Benefit Stay, Don't Stray):

Then I applied Illamasqua Cream Pigment Dab on whole lid:

This is what Illamasqua says about the first steps:

Then I shaped the line with black (sharp) pencil:

I took a bit of black shadow (Illamasqua Zeitgeist) and smudged the line to be thicker:

Next we blend, blend, blend:

Then the liner:

I then added some shimmer to lid with Illamasqua Pure Pigment Breathe:

As falsies I chose Marlliss #157 lashes:

It's-a-mee, Marilyn!

I don't often watch makeup tutorials, but I happened to stumble across Lisa Eldridge's Marilyn Monroe tutorial, and I wanted to try and recreate it. I made a Marilyn tutorial at some point too, but compared to Lisa Eldrige's tutorial, my Marilyn tutorial looked like a five-year-old did it :D

So check the link if you want to do a really good Marilyn look!

I used mainly 88 neutral palette, and MAC #34 lashes.

I used less bright lipstick (this was my LOTD), and my wig is from Hell, but I think I did quite well :D

And last but not least, pic with heavy photoshopping around the whole lip-area. I tried to smile like Marilyn, so that my teeth were showing, but my face just doesn't work like hers did. I always looked like I was heavily drunk or something, so I took a large portion of photoshop and created a new smile for me :D

Tutorial: Sugar-coated Heart

Here's little tutorial for you, maybe for Valentine's Day?

Start with priming your eye:

Then use light base for whole lid (I used NYX Jumbo pencil Milk):

Then apply pink (Sugarpill Dollypop) to 2/3 of the lid:

Then dark purple to outer half (Sugarpill Poison Plum):

Then create the outer shape with black shadow (Sugarpill Bulletproof/ MUG Corrupt):

Then blend the black with purple and then the purple with pink:

Continue blending, until desired shape is ready:

Then lower lashline. Start with black and purple mixed:

Continue the line with purple and black (blend with pink):

Apply Tako to the highlight:

Next apply some white between the lines on the outer corner (I used NYX Milk and Sugarpill Tako):

I wanted some shimmer, so I applied MAC Metal X cream shadow Virgin Silver to highlight, and a hint over the inner part of the lid:

Then apply liner, both to upper and lower lashline:

Apply nude or white pencil to waterline:

Apply mascara:

And false lashes, if you prefer:

Review: MAC Rain of Flowers nail polish

I had a small gift card for Brigettes Boutique.com, and along with the new foundation (Revlon PhotoReady), I picked up MAC's nail polish in Rain of Flowers.

I'm glad I did! Unlike the other nail polishes I have from MAC (the ones from Venomous Villains collection), this is quite opaque with one layer. It doesn't dry very fast, but that's why we have quick dry top coats, right? :D

And the color is stunning. It really, really, really deep purple, with electric blue sparkles.

It looks almost black with blue sparkle, but in the right light the purple comes out too.

Today my makeup was inspired by Silhouette Screams' PERFECT Ombré Ombré Ombré -look:

I didn't own like any of the products she used, so I did it myyyyyy waaaaaaaay:

I used Wet'n'Wild Lust palette and Sugapill Tako, and Sugarpill Dollypop on cheeks.

Lips are a mix of OCC Pageant, RX and Feathered, with NYX lip liner Hot Pink:

This is what you get when you forget to prime your lid, and use something like Wet'n'Wild:

OMG, I just realized that I DO own Illamasqua Depravity cream pigment, but oh well :P

Review: GothMetic

I was reading Finnish Elle magazine, when I spotted a mention of German cosmetic brand called Gothmetic:

The brand instantly caught my interest, so I googled it, found their website, contacted them, and got few of their products to review:

Nagellack - 02 Purple Obsession Glossy:

Super glossy dark purple nail polish. It dried quite quickly, needed two to three coats to look nice, and lasted about the same time nail polish lasts normally on my nails.
Shade isn't the most unique one, but I guess it's hard to find a unique shade the days. :P

Lipstick - 06 Passion Red:

Available in Passion Red, Wine Red, Rose, Aubergine, Red, Black with Purple

Red lipstick, yay. And by that I mean that I already have so many red lipsticks (like I said also in my Lime Crime Glamour 101 review), that it's quite hard to surprise me with red lipstick anymore :D

But this is "firetruck red", leaning more to orange than blue, but still being RED.

It has a nice texture and it doesn't stain.

The tube is matte black, and has fleur-de-lis symbols on it, so it fits to any goth's makeup bag nicely.

Lipgloss Stift & Lipgloss Tube:

Same stuff, different container. This is very shiny clear lipgloss, kinda candy-scented. I like the scent a lot actually :D

The "pencil version" is nice looking, but I find the brush a bit unpractical if you use the gloss over lipstick, but that's probably just my problem :D

Like said, this is very glossy, it reminds me of the "vinyl glosses" that were THE Thing a while back:

This is the product I've grown to love.

I remember that at some point I said I won't change my gel liners to liquid ones ever again, but this almost made me change my mind :D

If it would be a bit more water resistant, this would be my favourite :D

I love how it looks too, it also has fleur-de-lis symbols on it. I was bummed to get the black one, because the purple sounds so good :D

Sharpener:

5 eur

This is a sharpener, what can I say? :D

It sharpens pens, it has a silver ornament on the lid, and that's about it :D

Pinsel Extreme Liner:

~19,50 eur

It's a sturdy, yet a bit stiff brush. Unlike the other products, this one doesn't have any ornaments, tribals or other symbols, it's a plain brush with metallic cap.

Over all I'm not exactly sure what to think about GothMetic.

Based on the products I reviewed, they don't offer anything new. You know I'm more of an eyeshadow person, so I would've loved to get to try their eyeshadows, eyeshadow sticks or mousse eyeshadows. Since I didn't, I don't have any idea what quality they might be.

If you are True Goth, and you want your makeup bag to be True Goth too, you'll love these. But if you're looking for unique products instead of pretty packaging, you might get disappointed.

LOTD: Hypnotize

I've been silent so long, that I just have to break the silence with something.
So this will be a quick and short post of my today's look (or LOTD, Look Of The Day):

I was going to the dentist, so I didn't want to do anything too crazy, so I went with quite natural look with winged liner and bold lips (BTW, bad idea to wear lipstick when going to dentist, I wasn't thinking very clearly :P)

Basically I've been rolling on the floor crying for pain, so I hope you all understand that I haven't been able to sit down on the computer and concentrate to my blog.

Review: Flirt! Style Box- Fairytale for Eyes and Face

Bridgette's Boutique sent me Flirt! Style Box to try and review, so here's my thoughts of it.

First of all the price.
Retail price seems to be $25, which I personally think is wayyyy too much, but fortunately Bridgette's Boutique sells it for $8,95, which is MUCH better :D

The box holds three eyeshadows and one blush, all packed in cheap feeling cardboard/foam "palette".

The eyeshadows are called:

Kiss at Dusk:

This is sort of shimmery "taupe/greige" color. The color is pale, but the shimmer makes it look even paler/ lighter. You can almost use this as a highlighter.

Blue Belle:

This is superlight blue. Unfortunately this is really pale too, and in certain light it's hard to tell if it's blue or silver.

Deep Minx:

This a bit darker than Kiss at Dusk, but unfortunately the difference is so minimal, that you can hardly see it on lid. But it's doesn't change the fact that it's a pretty shade, also very shimmery.

Heart Candy Peek-a-Blush:

This is very wearable I think! It's very light, almost matte, but with a small amount of golden/silver (I'm really sorry, I can't really tell which one!) glitter in it. But the glitter is so small that you can't really notice it when used.

This palette really wasn't my cup of tea, because I'm still not really comfortable with light blue and gray.

Tutorial: Emma Watson Black & Gold

I found this look, and decided to recreate it!

Start with priming your eye with you favorite primer:

Sketch the desired shape with dark pencil or gel liner:

Fill the area with black shadow (I used makeupgeek's Corrupt, it's the blackest black I've ever seen!). Line your waterline too:

Blend the black with blending brush:

Then apply the gold (Sugarpill Goldlux). I applied it from the middle of the lid to the inner corner, but Emma has it mainly only inner corner:

Then the gold flakes. I used ones meant for nails, you can get these cheap from eBay :

Then rip small pieces of the gold sheets, apply then to the wing with either lashglue (might be messy) or Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy (like I did):

Then apply mascara and eyeliner if you wish:

I feel like look isn't complete with out highlighter, so I added some light shimmer to highlight:

And of course false lashes:

Review & Swatches: Kat von D Tattoo Chronicles – Candelabra Edition

I posted this review on MakeupGeek site too, but I thought it might be useful here too :D

A palette with 16 eye shadows and a mascara held in a component that resembles a book.

Full of stories of mystery and intrigue, the Tattoo Chronicles Candelabra Edition looks like a gorgeous, velvet-covered book. Open its pages to see Kat’s own tattoo-inspired drawings and handwritten journal entries about life, love, and beauty. Turn to the last page to reveal a palette of makeup, including sixteen trendsetting eye shadows, Kat’s new Sin-Full Lash mascara, and a large mirror.

If you liked the previous Kat von D palette, you’ll like this one for sure too.

All the shadows are extremely pigmented and the mascara is really good too. The packaging is extremely stunning again, I love the black velvet, though it’s hard to keep looking good is you don’t store it well. Personally I keep my Kat von D palettes both on the shelf, since they really look like books, so for me they are easy to store.

Every row has shadows that compliment each other, first to use as highlighter, second as a lid color, and to darker shades. And of course you can mix them all you want.

Really beautiful palette with something for everyone :D

First Class, Sunset Blvd:

Precious, Downtown:

First Class is the warm highlighter of this bunch, Sunset Blvd is warm yellow gold, Precious is kinda shimmery nude, and downtown is the subtle crease color.

Camila, Galeano:

Black Hearts, WTF:

Camila is the only tricky color in this palette, it works on lid and as a highlighter, but doesn’t really show up in swatches. Light pink with teeniest amount of shimmer. Galliano is slightly lilac taupe, Blackhearts is beautiful dark brownish purple with gold glitter, and WTF is bold red color.

Holy Bible, Speed Blue:

Oddfellow, Blacksmith:

Holy Bible is the second clearly highlight color, this time cold white with shimmer. Speed Blue is shimmery quite true blue. Oddfellow is beautiful matte black with blue and green glitters, and Blacksmith is black with large amount of silver glitter, similar to UD Oil Slick.

Helsinki, Evil Monkey:

Nerd, Night of the Hunter:

Helsinki is the capital of Finland, and a warm light brown with huge amount of gold glitter. Evil Monkey is beautiful shimmery kinda nude color. Nerd is forest green with silver glitter. Night of the hunter is matte deep army green.

Tutorial: New Year at Poolside

As always, start with priming your eye with your favorite primer:

Apply turquoise eyeshadow to whole lid ( mine is MakeupGeek Poolside, but MAC Cool Heat is quite close dupe, or MUFE #83):

Then apply dark brown to crease (mine is MakeupGeek Bada Bing, but ie. MAC Showstopper might work):

Blend lighter, preferably red-based brown upwards from the crease (Mine is Makeupgeek Goddess & Mocha):

Then add a hint of black shadow to outer corner and crease to bring a bit more depth (I used MUG Corrupt):

Then the glitter.
I used Fyrinnea's Pixie Epoxy, I carefully patted it over the shadow. I also added a hint of MUG White Lies to highlight:

And still being careful, I patted MUFE Diamond powder #008 to middle of the lid:

I did the same thing for the brown area with MUFE Diamond Powder #015:

I also applied the tiniest amount of black glitter (MUFE #110) over the black shadow, and then I lined my upper lashline with liquid black liner:

Then I lined my lower lashline with MUFE Aqua Eyes pencil #12L:

I blended the pencil with MUG Poolside, and liner my waterline with black pencil:

Then I just added mascara:

And finished the look with false lashes:

Done!

Tutorial: Christmas Ornament

Start with priming your eye:

Then apply Sugarpill Love+ to crease, and use a blending brush to blend it upwards:

Then apply Sugarpill Goldilux with a wet flat brush to your lid:

Use Sugarpill Tako as a highlighter. Then apply some Sugarpill Bulletproof to crease and outer corner. Blend both the black and red with Goldilux applied with blending brush:

Apply more black and red and gold, until the result is wanted. Add Goldilux, bulletproof and maybe a hint of Love+ to lower lashline too:

Then line your upper lashline and waterline with black (or dark with glitter):

Apply mascara, falsies, and black liquid liner if needed, and the look is done:

Hello!
It was Finland's independence day today, so I did blue/white look to celebrate it.

I used MUFE's Smoky palette, but any light + dark + glitter combination works :)

Start with priming your lid with your favorite primer:

Then apply the white shadow (mine is white from MUFE Smoky palette) to 2/3 of the lid, starting from inner corner

Then apply the darker shadow to outer corner and crease (mine was the dark blue from the MUFE palette, because I wanted to use white and blue to celebrate Finland's independence day, but any color will do):

Next we add more white, to blend the darker color and to highlight

Next the liner. I used MUFE's black Aqua Pencil:

I then smudged the liner with thin brush and black eyeshadow (still from MUFE's Smoky palette):

Apply black liner also to outer half of lower lashline (and waterline) ((I made the line bit too thick, make it thinner)):

Then apply the darker shadow over the liner, and blend with lighter shade:

Then I applied a bit of silver liner (MUFE Aqua Pencil 8L) to inner corner and inner part of the waterline:

Then mascara:

I then added falsies (ones that you get from ebay in a bulk pack):

Then I took a bit of Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy, and used it to apply MUFE's Diamond Powder #008 over the liner on the outer corner:

And finally it apllied a bit (yes, it was a bit!) of MAC's Reflects Transparent Teal pigment to whole lid:

And done!

Then I did a bit of posing with wig and jewellery:

Tutorial: Glittering December

This is so simple to do.
Start with priming your eye:

Then use black base, I used MAC Slick Black Greasepaint stick. The base should be a bit sticky, so that the glitter won't fall off:

Then apply the glitter (you can use for example Fyrinnae's Pixie Epoxy, or some mixing medium to attach the glitter, if you're afraid it'll fall off) :

Add some highlighter to the brow bone, false lashes (mine are MAC #44 ) and I also added some silver liner (MUFE Aqua Eyes 8L) to the lower inner corner and waterline:

And to really boost the look and to add even more shine, I added a hint of MUFE Diamond Powder #015 over the black glitter:

Chaotic Neutral

Hola!

I've been quite "boring" with my looks lately...

I received these to palettes full of MakeupGeek's eyeshadows (they should arrive to MUG store in few weeks or so):

I then arranged them to colorful and neutral, and I'e been using the neutrals quite a lot!

They are highly pigmented, and I adore the colors <3
I'll make a better post about them, once they are officially released.

But here's few of my latest looks with them:

Review: Lime Crime Styletto & Glamour 101

It's been a while since my previous Lime Crime review, back then I also reviewed their lipsticks, Styletto and No She Didn't. Even though I'm still aware of all the gossip and drama around this brand, I base my review on the products, not the brand.

I was again contacted by them, and this time I got 2 pieces from their latest collection called Lip Noir.

Unfortunately one of them was Styletto, which I already had. The other was Glamour 101, which was a new one. I would have loved to try the gray one called Chinchilla, but I've heard that they have some troubles to get it stocked or something. Oh well.

In my previous LimeCrime review I was impressed of their shipping box. This time my lipsticks came in a normal brown cardboard box. I don't know if they still use the custom boxes when you order something from them and I don't say that there's anything wrong with normal brown boxes, I just wanted to mention that, because I was secretly waiting for a cute box :D

Anyway, the lipsticks haven't changed from the outside.

(I haven't been able to view them the same way after a friend of mine noticed these tubes on my table, and asked me why I'm storing my VIBRATORS on my table.)

So the lipsticks.

Glamour 101:

Ok, first of all, it's red.
World is full of red lipsticks, what makes Glamour 101 so special?

Nothing really. But on the other hand, who said it should be special? I guess LimeCrime just wanted to add red lipstick to their line.

Since the collection is called "Lip Noir", which refers to "old times". This isn't anything wild or crazy, this is quite classic, elegant red. I wouldn't call it pinup red, but I could call it vintage red.

This is more darker and brown than any of my previous red lipsticks:

Loreal Infallible Beyonce, OCC NSFW, Illamasqua Faust & Sangers, Palladio Cosmopolitan, BeautyUK Vampire and LimeCrime Glamour 101

It stays well, it's not dry and it doesn't stain lips.
Again, for me it works very well, I have absolutely nothing to complain about. :D

And as you can see, it also looks good on lips:

Interesting enough, it looks totally different depending on the lipliner you use it with:

On the left there's NYX Cabaret as a liner, on the right NYX Deep Red.

Annyway.

Styletto:

I know I have reviewed this earlier, and my opinions haven't changed.
It's still opaque, it still stains dry parts of your lips, it may feather a bit if you don't use liner.
It still works bloody well on my looks when I need to have black lips.

I really wanted to include Styletto in this review because I got a new swatch pic of it:

Review: Incoco non-liquid nail polish

I was contacted by Incoco, they asked if I wanted to try and review their products.
I know my blog isn't really a nail / nail polish blog, but I paint and decorate my nails almost daily, so I said yes.

Incoco tells the following about The Nail Polish Strips:

Say goodbye to liquid nail polish – no more drying time, smudges, or streaks! Incoco nail polish strips provide a perfect manicure in minutes. The strips are made of real nail polish, and each strip includes base, color, and top coats. Apply Incoco anywhere, any time!

So these aren't stickers, or minx (or what ever), these are nail polish strips, which don't contain Formaldehyde, DBP (Dibutyl Phthalate) Or Toluene.

So, first there's all kinds of stuff in the package:

There's 16 double-ended color strips and instructions (duh!), nail polish removal cloth, nail file, cuticle stick, and some other stuff I couldn't figure out.

Here's how it actually works:

I have small nails, so I have pretty much of the excess "polish" to file off:

I actually do the same I do with "sticker nails", I cut the strip to half and use the other half to other hand.

But once all the choosing, shaping, applying and filing is over, the result is really neat:

At first I had some trouble applying the strip to place and with pulling the excess part off, so the result wasn't as neat as it could be:

I really, really like Disco Queen!
I think it feels like a nail polish, but looks way cooler than normal polish.

Personally I'm not such a big fan of these, I don't find applying nail polish too hard or time-consuming or anything, I kinda like it actually :D
I guess that's why I don't really get the point of getting normal nail polish in this form. I can surely understand these "wilder" ones, which you can't achieve normally, as these are an easy way to get awesome looking nails for parties or other events.
Luckily, Incoco offers somewhere around 50 different designs only in their Design Manicure series, and dozens of more in French Manicures and Color Manicures.
