The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey (2012)

So, When i was a small child my dad would always read me the Lord of the Rings or The Hobbit. I didn't really get them back then and i just kind of liked the names, but later i read them on my own and became a fan. Well the Lord of the Rings movies are now finished and have been for some time, but The Hobbit is set to release late this year.

Martin Freeman is staring as Bilbo Baggins and honestly i don't mind this. The movie has a great cast and i'm glad that Freeman is the lead role. Ian Mckellen is coming back to play the part of Gandalf the Grey as well. Overall the cast looks really tight and i don't have a lot of concerns there.

The plot is that Bilbo gets dragged into a journey to take back the lost Dwarf Kingdom of Erebor from a terrible dragon. He has to accompany 13 dwarfs and i'm sure plenty from the book will be left out, but i still expect this to be a rather long movie. I think they have planned to make it a two part movie actually.

This movie looks like it is going to be worth a watch and even if it is long and a two parter i will still be in the theater on release day.

#1 The Avengers!

So the last on the list is ofcourse The Avengers. I don't normally like big movies like this, but i am actually looking forward to this.

First of all they have a huge cast. The line up of all the stars from other super hero movies was a great idea. The movie took a while to put together obviously but i think it will be worth the wait.

As far as plot goes i don't really read comic books so i don't know how this settles with that, but it seems to revolve around Loki. the villain from Thor. Sam Jackson over here wants to put all these heroes together for the Avenger project.

the movie has a HUGE budget and it has been blowing up EVERYWHERE in the media. I think this movie will destroy the box office, but i honestly won't see it the first week.

I'm looking forward to this movie a lot, and i am hoping it was worth all the time and money they put into it.

# 2 The Amazing Spider-Man

Back again with MY most anticipated movies of this year. If you wanna see 5 through 3 go ahead and take a look down. Coming in at number 2 is The Amazing Spider-Man! Spiderman came out in 2002 and a lot of people liked it, but it felt a little childish. This movie promises to show the darker side of the web slinger.

It seems to be taking the Dark Knight road of being really dark and trying to be more realistic as far as human interaction goes.

Andrew Garfield is playing Spider-Man in the 2012 version. I don't know a lot from him, but i know he was in Dr.Who and The Imaginarium of Dr.Parnassuss. I guess we will have to see how that ends up. Emma stone is playing Gwen Stacy. In the comics Gwen is the love of Spider-Man's life before he meets Mary Jane. The 2002 movie took a strange twist on her, so i'm curious to see what they do with this. The villain in the movie is played by Rhys Ifans. He plays a scientist who peter helps with an experiment that turns him into "The Lizard". We haven't seen the lizard in a movie yet either.

All around i would say i am very curious about this movie. Emma stone is a babe. Andrew Garfield is a nobody to me, and Rhys Ifans seems like he will make a decent villain. I can't wait to check this one out.

Ok so everyone has a big boner about the Dark Knight movies, and i never really got into it too much, but this one seems like it is going to be a winner. First of all they are filming in Pittburgh so i like that already. Second they are bringing so many characters into this one. It seems like it is really going to end this trilogy with a bang.

I'm not a huge fan of Christian Bale, but he commits to his roles. He lost 170 pounds for his role in The Machinist, and i have to give him props for that. New to the series is Tom Hardy and Joesph Gorden-Levitt..It is kind of like an inception reunion.

The first movie dragged on a little for me, but the second one picked up in the action department. So overall i am really looking forward to seeing what they do with this.

Also Anne Hathaway is catwoman...Hott

#4 ParaNorman

ParaNorman is kind of an odd one on the list. For starters it is again very childish, but i have a soft spot for stop motion. It was made from the people behind "Coraline" so i know it will be amazing.

The movie is about a young boy who can speak to ghost. He has to fight Ghost,Zombies, and Adults to save his town from an old curse. The cast is actually ok. Anna Kendrick,John Goodman, and Jeff Garlin all lend their voices to this movie.

With so many great voices and ofcourse the wonderful stop motion team from coraline, ParaNorman is looking to be a nice way to spend 2 hours of my life. Can't wait to check it out.

Well i'm back. Haven't have a PC for the last couple of days so i haven't been able to post, but now that i'm back i'll get right to it. Over the new few days i'll be counting down 5 movies i am most excited about.

The Secret World of Arrietty

So Studio Ghibli is just releasing this movie in North America and i can't wait to see it. Anything from Hayao Miyazaki is on my must watch list. Probably because i have been watching his movies since i was a kid. The plot is that the Clock family are 4 inch tall people who live inside peoples houses. They take little things to survive because they don't need as much and humans don't even know its gone.

Well one day Arrietty and her father are looking for food when they are spotted by a boy who lives in the house. This goes against everything that they both know, but they soon become friends. It seems a bit childish ofcourse, but i guess i just don't care anymore. The artwork of Miayazki always draws me in. Anyways it is set to release in North America on February 17th

I'll leave a trailer here if you are curious:

This one is a little strange for me for the reason that i got a bad vibe from Kristen Stewart because of twilight, but i'm a big fan of James Gandolfini. I'll dive right in to this one. Gandolfini stars a man named Doug who is a rather broken man. His wife won't leave the house and panics ALL the time, and he is having an affair with a woman from work. Doug is struggling with a lot of emotions because of the death of his teenage daughter.

Doug goes on a buisness trip to New Orleans where he runs into a stripper named Alison(Played by Kristen Stewart). She looks a lot like his dead daughter and he feels like he has to help her. She is 16, lives in a shitty house, and gets taken advantage of all the time. Doug decided to pay her 100$ a day just to live with her.

The movie is actually really good in my opinion. Gandolfini really takes the spotlight here, but it is kind of like sickingly nice to hear the girl from twilight dirty talk and talk about giving head and doing anal.

I'll leave a trailer here :

Bucky Larson: Born to Be a Star

2012-01-23T16:42:00.000-08:00

So watched another movie fresh to DvD and i thought i would share my thoughts. This film is from Adam Sandler and his whole crew, and i have to say i enjoyed it. It seems that every movie that has come out of Happy Madison Productions has kind of been a sink for me, but boy this one caught my eye.

So the movie starts with Bucky Larson getting fired from his grocery store job in the Midwest. To get him cheered up his friends invited him over for a movie night. They find out that Bucky has never spanked it before, so they put on some porno they find. They are all shocked to find that Bucky's parents are pornstars from the 70's. This sparks a wild dream in bucky to move to LA and become a porn star. He rents a room with Kevin Nealon who REALLY makes this movie for me. Everything he says is hilarious. Well bucky is picked up by a director named "Miles Deep" who hopes he will be a start like his parents.

I don't normally enjoy movies that try TOO hard to be funny, but this movies really made me laugh. I would highly recommend. Just don't watch it with the family.

Hot Neighbor

2012-01-18T22:24:00.000-08:00

So today i found out that my hot neighbor with the annoying rat dog has a thing for Asians. Today it was a nice day so i thought i would let some air in. I open my window to a new car parked right outside my neighbor's house. She doesn't have any curtains on her windows and that always struck me as a little off. I noticed a lot of movement in the window and the first thing i thought. She is getting it on. I mean she is a nice looking woman. roughly 120 pounds, curvy body, and some giant boobs. So naturally she normally brings home a lot of douche looking guys.

Getting a little off subject here....So i saw some movement up there. So i thought nothing much of it. Until I saw the naked torso of a brownish Asian man! He was really awkward looking. Classic nerdy Asian thing going on , but anyways i am almost 100% sure that they were doing it. She could get any fucking douchy looking meat head she wants and she goes for some nerdy Asian.

I guess i better get good at star craft

50/50

2012-01-14T10:46:00.000-08:00

Alright i just got done watching another movie......Again this isn't a review. 50/50 stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as a 27 year old man. He is very healthy and follows all the rules and is a general push over. This is until he notices his back hurts and goes in for an appointment. He soon finds out that he has cancer. A large tumor is growing down his spine. All the medical books say the chance of survival is 50%. The whole movie is him going through the stages of cancer and trying to maintain his normal life. His best friend is played by Seth Rogen and he is kind of his right hand man. He is always trying to get him laid and kind of make him forget he has cancer. Levitt goes through the normal "I'm gunna die soon stuff" like trying to connect with his mother, Being a better friend, and spend time with his girlfriend.

I won't spoil anything just in case, but the one flaw i found is that i never really gave a shit. You never know if he is going to live or die, but i honestly didn't care. I found it hard to connect with any of the characters at all in fact. I mean i wouldn't pay money to see this if i hadn't already, but i guess it was Ok.....out of 5.

Bioshock

2012-01-09T01:17:00.000-08:00

I just started this blog at the end of last year, so i have missed a lot of things that were once relevant to me. Luckily i enjoy nostalgia. Bioshock was released on August 21, 2007. Honestly i can't even imagine it has been that long, but here we are. The game was released 2 years after xbox 360. While i was replaying i noticed a few things.

1. The graphics are still really nice.
2. The combat controls it made were fantastic.
3. The setting is amazing. The game is based in the 1960s in an underwater city.

The story starts with you(Jack) on a plane ride across the Atlantic ocean. suddenly the plane crash lands in the ocean. You happen to be the only survivor. You swim across to a light house you see in the middle of the ocean. There is a little sub inside that takes you underwater where you see the city of Rapture. Rapture is a place made by "Andrew Ryan". Ryan made this city to escape from the politics of the 1960's world. He says every man should be entitled to the work he does.

So you end up getting contacted by a man named Atlas. All Atlas wants is to get his family and get out, and he needs your help. As you begin your adventure you find something called "Plasmids" These give you several different powers that you get as you progress through the game.

Plasmids are not all fun though. Most of the people of rapture have been turned into drug addicts who would do anything for more "Atom". Atom allows you to use plasmids.

The game has a lot of story and is overall a very fun experience. Right now Bioshock: 2 is out and Bioshock Infinite is coming out this year. So if you haven't played the original i would recommend it

The Big Bang

2012-01-05T22:04:00.000-08:00

So i have been in a movie watching mood lately, so i have been watching a bunch of strange movies. Today i just happened to watch The Big Bang. Antonio Banderas stars as a private eye who isn't liking how is job is going. This is until a 8 foot man enters his office and demands that he find a woman who had been writing him when he was in prison. The girl that he is looking for is a former stripper named Lexie Persimmon. The only problem is that no one has seen her in 5 years. The letters she writes from have no return address and the strip joint she used to dance at hasn't seen her either.

The story gets really strange and looped together , but i would defiantly say that this move was worth the view. There is a lot of nudity in the movie so i wouldn't watch this with the family, but it caught my attention for the two hour run time.

Melancholia

2012-01-02T22:10:00.000-08:00

I don't really do movie reviews and i would hardly call this one, but here i go. I watched the movie Melancholia today and this has to be one of the most depressing movies that has ever been made EVER! It stars Kirsten Dunst as Justine. The movie start at Justine's wedding. Everyone is having fun and it is all happy go lucky! Well naturally things have to take a turn for the worst! At the after party a few of the party people look through a telescope and see something next to the moon. This turns out to be a planet named "Melancholia". The planet is on a crash course through the solar system and the whole movie no one is sure if it will hit or not.

So it is already bad enough that a planet could any minute hit earth and wipe out everything, but i forgot to mention that Justine(Kirsten Dunst) suffers from depression. So not only does she have to deal with the fact that she could die at any minute, but she doesn't even know if she wants to live in the first place....

SPOILER ALERT

Everyone dies

Bitching

2011-12-30T13:20:00.000-08:00

Alright so maybe i have just been in the bitching kind of mood, but my OTHER neighbor isn't crazy, but she has a little rat of a dog that she lets outside all god damn day! Every time i leave my house he comes barking up and makes a shit ton of noise. When you let him get close he will try to bite at your fucking ankles! Not to mention every time i pull out of my driveway i have to fucking pick him up and throw him somewhere because he will bark at my tires! He almost gets hit by a car every single day! I don't enjoy animal abuse, but i'm starting to think it's a good idea to just get it over with.....At least the owner has big tits...

Neighbor check

2011-12-27T12:52:00.000-08:00

So i thought i would have a ton of stuff to talk about today, but the only interesting thing is that my neighbor's wife is pregnant. Well that is what he told me. This could be a classic Get into a fight and man says i'm leaving so girl says i'm pregnant thing. All i know is that the woman is crazy and if she does have a child...Someone should save it..

Christmas

2011-12-24T11:00:00.000-08:00

Well it is Christmas eve here and i thought i would just say Merry Christmas. I'm sure ill be posting about my crazy ass neighbor after tomorrow....crazy bitch.

Durarara

2011-12-21T15:26:00.000-08:00

I don't normally watch tv, and when i do i usually just dance around channels with nothing in mind. Also I've never been a big anime fan, but this one kind of dragged me in. The story is about an Irish version of the Headless Horseman only it is a woman and very modern.

Her name is Celty and she is looking for her head in japan. It is a really big web of story telling and i really like it. Also it is in English. I can't stand reading subtitles. I haven't finished the anime yet, but i actually really enjoy this one.

Men in Black 3

2011-12-17T04:41:00.000-08:00

So a few days ago i noticed the trailer for Men in Black 3. This movie is just a sequel to Men in Black 2.... which was made in 2002..Maybe it is just me, but i really don't care for all this re starting older movies. I know the series isn't that old, but it is more of a "it is dead" thing. OH and why the hell hasn't Will Smith aged at all....He looks the same as he did 10 years ago...Back to my point. The movie just seems like it has no place, and i would almost bet money that Will Smith will have his kids in it at some point. That shit is getting old too... ANYWAYS Men in Black 3...Pointless.

Here is the trailer if you care by the way :

The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy

2011-12-11T15:15:00.000-08:00

I wouldn't normally do a book review and i would hardly call this one, but throughout my morning trips to the bathroom the past few weeks i have been reading this book. The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy has to be the only book that i have read and actually enjoyed. It follows the adventures of an English man and his alien friend who have to leave earth when it is blown up to make room for a space highway. The 5 books in the series are full of witty conversations and interesting perspectives. The book is old, but it's humor makes me feel like it was written a few years ago. Surprisingly the first broadcast of the series was in 1978!

A movie was made about the series, but it really is just a peak into the characters. I'm not one of those guy that is always bitching about books being better than movies either. All i'll say it that if you take a while in the bathroom maybe you should look into The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

The MMO Race.

2011-12-03T13:05:00.000-08:00

So it is the start of December and that means we are only a few weeks away from the new Star Wars mmo. Now one thing i hate is when a new mmo comes out and someone says it will "Kill WoW". A lot of games have come and gone and World of Warcraft is still going strong. While it is true that a lot of subscribers have left WoW, the game still has roughly 10 million subscribers. I mean people say that it has lost a shit ton, but most games don't have that much to lose! Even after its giant loses it still has more subscribers than almost any mmorpg.

What i will say is that i think Star Wars will do fine. I think WoW will be going strong into its next expansion as well. As far as WoW dying goes, the only thing that will kill wow is wow.

Black Friday

2011-11-26T07:00:00.000-08:00

Short post today, but i thought i would just make a note of something. I went to my local mall yesterday to see if i could get anything worth while in all the black friday business, but instead i got a lesson...People are greedy... I saw grown woman run through a child knocking the small boy to the ground just so she could get a video game for her son...At some point...you are doing it wrong. I think ill stick to shopping online.....

Neighbor Troubles Again

2011-11-20T19:41:00.000-08:00

So if you have read my earlier post, then you know that i have a neighbor who has a crazy ass wife. I hardly know this neighbor by the way. We met a few weeks ago and ever since he comes to my house when his wife gets all nuts. The first "event" was his wife actually stabbing him in the stomach. I made a post about it if you want more details, but on Tuesday i was sitting at home about to go to sleep when i hear a knock on my door. I already knew it was a bad idea to open it, but i felt bad. Of course it was my neighbor. This time he didn't have stab wound, but he just said he wanted to hang out.

We hung out for 30 minutes or so....It was mostly talking about his crazy ass wife. Anyway we were talking and i hear a knock on my door AGAIN. Well i open it again and two cops are standing there. I guess his wife called them or something ,but he went to talk to them for a bit. Then i heard a knock on my back door. That one was a little confusing. Well i got and open it and there is nobody there.

After a small search around my backyard the two cops found my neighbors wife. She started yelling about something, but i wasn't interested. This isn't really the wildest story ever, but they took her away to jail AGAIN. The reason this is so strange is the fact that i have never met his wife. So it was really really creepy that she knocked on my door.

I'll be sure to keep you updated on the creepy wife situation though...
