A couple of weeks ago I released an update to fix the old Facebook chat; Well the guys at Facebook have been up to their old shenanigans again and released a horrible new redesign... Not only did this break my code which fixed the new Facebook chat but it also squashed in a new stalkerish "Feed ticker", which serves to help you stalk people in real-time I suppose??!?!...

I haven't been releasing any extensions for awhile now, but this hideous redesign kicked me into gear and I decided to release an update to my popular extension, "Fix the new Facebook Chat", Now called, "Fix FB chat & Feed ticker"...

Basically, the update hides the new real-time feed ticker altogether, giving the chat window the full height of the screen again. If you need or want the live feed, all you have to do is click the bar at the top of the chat window and the feed will open; After perusing your friendlings comments and whatnot, you can close the ticker by clicking the same bar. (A feature Facebook never thought we'd might like) For new users, the extension also hides those pesky offline contacts that intermingle with online contacts, showing you only contacts which are online or idle (Similar to the old Facebook Chat) ...

Another annoyance of this new redesign is the fact that the news feed no longer gives you the option of viewing "Top Stories" or "Most Recent" updates... Unfortunately this is not something I can fix, as Facebook removed the code which finds the top stories altogether... So your news feed will ONLY show "Most Recent" updates from now on, and top stories if you have been away from Facebook for awhile... A couple of days ago however, Facebook released a cool update for once, allowing you to create lists for your news feed; Meaning you can decide which updates you feel are considered "Top Stories" and view those separately from the most recent updates...

Download this extension here! - Note to the old users, An autoupdate of this extension will be pushed to your browser within the next 24 hours, but if you'd like to update now, you will have to uninstall and then reinstall the extension here... To uninstall, navigate to "chrome://extension" and uninstall the extension...

Fix the new Facebook Chat system!

Out of frustration of the new facebook chat system, you know - the one that shows offline contacts jumbled up awkwardly with online and Idle contacts - I decided to create an extension to hide all the offline contacts to have a simplified interface which will show only Online and Idle contacts side-by-side, similar to the old interface, with the added bonus of the new search function and multi-person chat function!

Facebook's new chat design has received varied degrees of hate in recent reviews... Most people see this as Facebook trying and failing to keep up with Google's new social network, Google Plus. Google Plus has so far gotten exceptional reviews and gained in excess of 20 million users in 3 weeks of operation, despite being an invite only network for the time being...

I suspect this is the first of many changes we are about to see on Facebook and indeed, facebook chat. With Microsoft's recently acquiring Skype, Facebook is slowly loosing the massive lead it has obtained over the years by two of the largest companies in the world - Google and Microsoft! Facebook will i'm sure, step up to the plate, but in the mean time, do yourself a favor, and download "Fix the New Facebook Chat" extension... NOW!

5 years ago, it would not have been uncommon for your computer to be a whole lot slower then this phone... Apple iPhone 4

Not in the same league with the new Samsung Galaxy S2, but I know some stubborn Apple fans, and I'm included somewhat here, will say iOS is still better then Android... However, I have to admit, Android looks to be the new superpower of smartphones (I fully expect Google to overtake the throne from Apple within 1-2 years)... Their App-store is increasingly cool... I would wait for iOS 5 and iPhone 5 though, If it wasn’t for the Galaxy s2...

Logs you out of all Google Accounts, closes all tabs and takes you to the login screen... Great if you use many google accounts or... have a big family who never logout! Use it when you want to swap to another account or just before closing the browser...

Split Screen

Split Screen opens a new tab and prompts the user for two URL's, then displays both sites on one page. Great for cross-reference studying and surfing the web in general! Watch a video, (or wait for it to buffer) while you surf another webpage.

This extension took alot of developing to get right, and is not 100% how I would like it, however, it is limited in its design because of https:// sites refusing to be put into frames... that being said, around 95% of websites will work with split screen. I use this extension almost everyday! when studying it is a dream! There is a notepad installed in the opening screen to allow a window for browsing and one to take notes... Very handy if I do say so myself!

Dashboard For Chrome

This next screen shot is of my third extension, a handy notepad and calculator put side-by-side in the chrome browser for easy note-taking and calculations, no more constantly switching between windows... The notepad autosaves for the next time you open the extension...

This extension played a vital role in the development of split screen, my second extension, because this extension helped me perfect the notepad and see how instamental it could be to my other extension... Not only is this good for studying, but you never know when you might need to quickly jot something down or do a little math. The extra hassle of switching screens and constantly saving has been removed with this all-in-one app...

Ultimate Football Results

To give you a brief idea about what it is that I do, here is a screenshot of my first extension, made to grab football results from several leagues and display them on one convenient page... this saves alot of time and loads in seconds because it uses the simple HTML-based iPhone BBC sport webpages...

This extension started out grabbing results from only one league... Then progressed to having four league on one page. Due to space issues, no more frames could be put on one extension page, so links to multiple pages were then added... The extension now grabs results from 16 leagues and competitions as well as 8 Fifa World Cup groups... Amid vast changes and great feedback and ratings, the extension was subsequently placed in the featured extension list under sports, a great honor...

In my "Useful Extensions" page, you will find a short article on one of my most favored extensions, Click&Clean... I go on to praise the extension, but also have a dig at it for not merely doing what it is supposed too, well... Recently Google Chrome updated there API and I was able to create an extension that removes your history. (or part of it.) My extension does live up to its name, with simplicity and one click deletion! Configure all the necessary settings in the options page or simply have all options displayed everytime...

A little about the technical side to me - I'm interested in everything Apple's and PC's have to offer. I'm a gadget lover and avid reader. I'd love to own an iPad and a Android Phone... I'm a perfectionist when it comes to my own extensions and coding, and although I am not pursuing a career in programming, it is a huge hobbie of mine, and one that I found only at the beginning of 2010, when presented with a bit of code that I wanted to make better...
