Ausiello: I'm hearing something about a ring and a possible proposal later this season.

Question: Loving Lexie and Mark on Grey's. Anything good coming up for them? -- Mike
Ausiello: They experience a little bit of a setback next week that's connected to this ABC teaser: "An injury leaves Mark in a compromising position in the ER." And now the official translation: McSteamy fractures his McPenis!

Question: What's the latest on TR Knight leaving Grey's Anatomy? -- Peter
Ausiello: I posed that question to exiting Grey's star Melissa George, and she claimed reports of TR's unhappiness have been greatly exaggerated. "The day the rumors came out we were doing a scene in the cafeteria, and the admiration for him and his set persona was so high and so brilliant, that we were all laughing about it." However, Melissa didn't deny that TR has been frustrated by his lack of screen time this season. "He's an extraordinary actor, and when you care about your craft, you want to work -- you want to use it. It's like being a doctor and they never give you a surgery...But you know what? The guy's got a future beyond Grey's, whether that's now or later, or whenever."

Will T.R. Knight stay with Grey's Anatomy or is season five George's last lap?

The authorities aren't telling, but everybody's favorite boss doc, Chandra Wilson, knows a thing or two about the future of her protégé, courtesy of the scripts she's been given for upcoming episodes. (Grey's returns with a new episode tonight.)

Our Michael Yo just caught up with the divine Dr. Miranda Bailey last night at the People's Choice Awards, and she had this to say about the current whereabouts of our favorite lost puppy dog, Dr. George O'Malley...

"We still have our cast," Chandra says. "Every script that comes down has O'Malley's name in it, so we're going to do right by the fans, and we're going to do right by the actors, but right now we're all together."

She's also not buying any critical cranking that there's been a drop in quality for Grey's this season. Chandra says, "I think that we're still given the same thing from day one. We got all that crazy medical in there, we got the relationship stuff, we got the romance. People have really gotten used to these individuals; they care about these characters, they care about their lives. That's good stuff, and we try to stay loyal to them."

As for the future, according to Chandra, "We've got a bunch of crossover, meshy, meshy, to put us all on the same night, so that's been a lot of fun having those characters hang out with us."

Oh, dear.

I just spoke exclusively with Eric Stoltz about his upcoming three-episode guest arc on Grey's Anatomy, and what he told me about his death-row inmate character sounds downright ominous for Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) and Derek Shepherd (Patrick Dempsey)?

Could one of our heroes be in real danger? Get the dish directly from Eric himself...

Eric teases about his character's purpose: "I would have to say that I insinuate myself in between Mer and Der in a way that isn't exactly helpful."

Um, is that because when you put a loaded gun on a table in the first act you have to fire it in the third act, and by extension, if you put a killer in the first episode, he's got to kill someone in the third episode?

Says Eric (with a fair amount of feigned affrontery) about that prospect, "I'm not about to tell you what happens! Why would anyone do that? I wouldn't want to know what happens!" (No wonder Shonda Rhimes loves the man!)

Seriously though, who is this fellow, and how does he fit into Seattle Grace? As Eric tells it, "My character's name is William Dunn, and he's a death-row inmate who came to be at Seattle Grace by the fact that he has a shiv shoved in his back during a fight in the prison yard. The nature of his crime is actually revealed in the show that airs on Thursday night, so I would hate to give it away right now."

Shonda Rhimes invited Eric to appear in front of the camera after his second directorial outing on the show. But the opportunity wasn't what he expected. He says, "My massive ego took over and I, of course, thought [the part] was a romantic hero, someone to come and save the day. When Shonda told me it was a death-row inmate, I was a little bit stunned."

However, Shonda did her usual magic and convinced Stoltz it was still an intriguing part: "She said that people who do truly evil things usually are not evil 24 hours a day. They have friends, they have a life. You should really hate this man for all that he does, but because that part is so well-written, that character gradually works itself into your subconscious, and some deep, disturbing recognition happens." Hmmm...

As for the rest of the transition from director to actor, it was a little...rocky. As Eric tells it, "The cast had some fun at my expense when they realized I was no longer directing and I was merely acting, handcuffed to a bed. Some of them took advantage of that and sadly, in a cast filled with attractive and talented women, I think the person who took the most advantage of my position was Patrick Dempsey. More than once, that man gave me noogies and tickled my feet."

Tickle attack by Patrick Dempsey? You could have worse problems.

Sneak Peek: 'Grey's Anatomy'

"Grey's Anatomy"'s Seattle Grace Hospital is back in action: When Izzzy (Katherine Heigl) tries to talk to Alex (Justin Chambers), he immediately thinks she is trying to break up with him, so when she admits she sees dead people (Denny, Jeffrey Dean Morgan) he is relieved and tells her to say hi!

Then a death row inmate (Eric Stoltz) is admitted, which angers Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and causes the rift between Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) and Cristina (Sandra Oh) to deepen.

In the meantime, Callie (Sara Ramirez) and Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) create their own recovery program to fight their inappropriate attractions to members of the opposite/same sex, and Dr. Bailey (Chandra Wilson) teams up with Seattle Grace's new pediatric surgeon, Dr. Arizona Robbins (Jessica Capshaw) to save a young patient.

The "Wish You Were Here" episode of "Grey's Anatomy" airs Thursday, Jan. 8 at 9 p.m.

Good news, Grey's fans. Lexipedia is havin' a baby...in real life.

Multiple sources confirm to E! News that Chyler Leigh, aka Lexie/"Little Grey" on ABC's Grey's Anatomy, is pregnant with her third child by hubby Nathan West.

But will the pregnancy be written into Grey's Anatomy storylines?

That's a no on the possibility of a Lexie baby, according to Chyler's rep, but that doesn't mean Lexie is totally keeping out of the Grey's craziness this year.

Sources tell us that Mark Sloan (Eric Dane) and Lexie will continue going strong in the new year, with the comely intern being Mark's big focus/secret/storyline for the new year.

You gotta wonder what Kate Walsh's Addison Montgomery is going to say about that when she stops by during the spring's big Grey's Anatomy-Private Practice crossover. First her husband takes up with Meredith Grey, and now her ex-lover is getting busy with Lexie Grey. Is there something in Grey DNA that the rest of us should know about?

Reason number 8,233 to love Grey's Anatomy: The drama never ends!

The next new episode of ABC's highly addictive TV series crack doesn't air until next year, but fans still have plenty to discuss behind the scenes with the recent rumors that T.R. Knight has asked to leave the show.

Is it true? And is it possible he's not the only one?

Kayla in Boston: Is our George really leaving Grey's Anatomy? As a Gizzie and George fan, I hope not.
The latest I've heard from inside sources is that yes, T.R. did ask to get out of his contract, and so far, no final decision or details have been reached, but it is looking likely he we will go. However, you should know that according to ABC sources, T.R. is not the first Grey's castmember to be asked out of his contract. There have been at least two others in recent years. Any guesses?

Jayden in Eugene, Ore: Got any more scoop on T.R. leaving Grey's?
When asked whether T.R. is leaving the show, Eric Dane tells us: "I don't know how true that is, but if it were, it would certainly be a loss. I don't think there's any truth to that until I'm told otherwise." I'm told that pretty much the entire cast and crew is being kept in the dark as to what is really going on. Still, T.R. remains close friends with Katherine Heigl. They were spotted having dinner Thursday night at BLVD 16 with Katherine's hubby, Josh Kelly, and her mother.
