Halloween Weekend Photography Workshop

Halloween Weekend Photography Workshop: October 21 & 22, 2011
This workshop is a combination of on location shooting, portfolio review & critique. Class size is limited to 10 students. Ange will review students' portfolios and offer guidance on ongoing projects. She will discuss the basics of how her library is organized and other aspects of photography as a business.
Ange will also work with each student individually to answer questions, offer insight into image selection for shows, exhibiting your work and getting started on a path toward photography as a career. Portfolio review will begin Friday evening and continue on Saturday morning. The class will go out and photograph at various locations around the city on both Friday & Saturday.
After the class students will be able to email up to ten image files shot during the workshop, which Ange will edit with comments and return to you.

Requirements: This class is for photographers
Attendees should bring their portfolio to the class for review.
Prints only, no slides. Computer print-outs are fine.

Dates & Location:
The workshop will take place at / near Ange's office & studio in Oak Cliff, TX. Friday: 6-8pm and Saturday: 10am to 12pm.

Price & Payment: The course fee is $250. Payments by cash, check, money order, or PayPal are accepted. Full payment is due by October 19, 2011.
Payment details will be provided upon acceptance to the class.

This is my friend Violet (on the right).
She's not only absolutely BEAUTIFUL, she's super sweet, funny & she has an amazing personality. She's very special to me.
She also has Cystic Fibrosis which is a really sucky thing and I'm making it my personal goal this year to kick this disease in the froat and find a damn cure.
It's TIME already!

The Little Prince is written by Antoine de Saint-Exupéry and translated by Katherine Woods. These are my favorite quotes from the book.

Grown-ups never understand anything by themselves, and it is tiresome for children to be always and forever explaining things to them.

I have lived a great deal among grown-ups. I have seen them intimately, close at hand. And that hasn’t much improved my opinion of them.

Grown-ups love figures. When you tell them that you have made a new friend, they never ask you any questions about essential matters. They never say to you, “What does his voice sound like? What games does he love best? Does he collect butterflies?” Instead, they demand: “How old is he? How many brothers has he? How much does he weigh? How much money does his father make?” Only from these figures do they think they have learned anything about him.

If you were to say to the grown-ups: “I saw a beautiful house made of rosy brick, with geraniums in the windows and doves on the roof,” they would not be able to get an idea of that house at all. You have have to say to them: “I saw a house that cost $20,000.” Then they would exclaim: “Oh, what a pretty house that is!”

To forget a friend is sad. Not every one has had a friend. And if I forget him, I may become like the grown-ups who are no longer interested in anything but figures…

But on your tiny planet, my little prince, all you need to do is move your chair a few steps. You can see the day end and the twilight falling whenever you like…

“When he lights his street lamp, it is as if he brought one more star to life, or one flower. When he puts out his lamp, he sends the flower, or the star, to sleep. That is a beautiful occupation. And since it is beautiful, it is truly useful.”

“Nevertheless he is the only one of them all who does not seem to me ridiculous. Perhaps that is because he is thinking of something else besides himself.”

What the little prince did not dare confess was that he was sorry most of all to leave this planet, because it was blessed every day with 1440 sunsets!

All humanity could be piled up on a small Pacific islet.
The grown-ups, to be sure, will not believe you when you tell them that. They imagine that they fill a great deal of space. They fancy themselves as important as the baobabs. You should advise them, then, to make their own calculations. They adore figures, and that will please them.

“You move me to pity--you are so weak on this Earth made of granite,”

The flower had once seen a caravan passing.
“Men?” she echoed. “I think there are six or seven of them in existence. I saw them, several years ago. But one never knows where to find them. The wind blows them away. They have no roots, and that makes their lives very difficult.”

“They are lucky,” the switch man said.

And as I gave it to him my heart was torn.

I felt his heart beating like the heart of a dying bird, shot with someone’s rifle…

"All men have the stars," he answered, "but they are not the same things for different people. For some, who are travelers, the stars are guides. For others they are no more than little lights in the sky. For others, who are scholars, they are problems. For my businessman they were wealth. But all the stars are silent. You--you alone--will have the stars as no one else has them--"

“I shall look as if I were suffering. I shall look a little as if I were dying. It is like that. Do not come to see that. It is not worth the trouble…”

He fell as gently as a tree falls. There was not even any sound, because of the sand.

Wait for a time, exactly under the star. Then, if a little man appears who laughs, who has golden hair and who refuses to answer questions, you will know who he is. If this should happen, please comfort me. Send me word that he has come back.
