Desert Landscape Portraits Using a Mirror and Easel:

Daniel Kukla is an artist who’s work can be found at the intersection of photography and bioloy/anthropological sciences (of which he is formally trained). In his photography he tries to capture images that have the power to articulate our ever-changing relationship with the natural world. In both science and photography the act of collection is universal, and in his series entitled The Edge Effect, Daniel remarks:

“In March of 2012, I was awarded an artist’s residency by the United States National Park Service in southern California’s Joshua Tree National Park. While staying in the Park, I spent much of my time visiting the borderlands of the park and the areas where the low Sonoran desert meets the high Mojave desert. While hiking and driving, I caught glimpses of the border space created by the meeting of distinct ecosystems in juxtaposition, referred to as the Edge Effect in the ecological sciences.

To document this unique confluence of terrains, I hiked out a large mirror and painter’s easel into the wilderness and captured opposing elements within the environment. Using a single visual plane, this series of images unifies the play of temporal phenomena, contrasts of color and texture, and natural interactions of the environment itself.” – Source: DanielKukla.com

Η αποψινή νίκη του Ολυμπιακού ήταν μία νίκη του Ελληνικού αθλητισμού!!!!!
Γιατί οι Έλληνες παίκτες του Θρύλου,τα μωρά του,κατέκτησαν το πιο δύσκολο τρόπαιο που υπάρχει στην Ευρώπη,το Πρωτάθλημα Ελλάδας!!!!!!
Κι όλα αυτά με μειωμένο μπάτζετ,αλλά με πάρα πολύ δουλειά κι ακόμα περισσότερη μαγκιά !!!
Αν το Hollywood γύριζε σε ταινία όλην τη φετινή πορεία του Θρύλου στο μπάσκετ,θα έσπαγε ταμεία!!!!!!
Μία ομάδα που ξαφνικά πέρυσι τέτοια εποχή ακριβώς είχε ουσιαστικά διαλυθεί,σαν από θαύμα,ένωσε όπως όπως τα κομμάτια της,και με ένα τρόπο λες και συνωμότησε όλο το σύμπαν υπέρ της,σάρωσε τα πάντα..!!!
Μεγάλη δικαίωση για την οικογένεια Αγγελόπουλου,για τον πατέρα και τα παιδιά του!!! Είναι όλοι τους υπέροχοι,παράδειγμα προς μίμηση σε μία μίζερη Ελλάδα!!!!!!!
Μπράβο και στο Ντούντα.!!! Ο οποίος ''γέρασε'' αλλά δεν ξέχασε πως γεννιούνται οι Πρωταθλητές!!!!!!
Μπράβο στον Αρχηγό Βασίλη Σπανούλη!! Είναι άντρας!!!!!
Κι από κοντά,ο υπερηχητικός Πρίντεζης,ο αέρινος Παπανικολάου,ο Σλούκας,ο Μάτζαρης,η νέα πεντάδα της Εθνικής Ελλάδος δηλαδή!!!!!!
Είμαστε σίγουροι ότι οι ξένοι παίκτες της ομάδας,δε θα ξεχάσουν ποτέ στη ζωή τους,αυτά που έζησαν στη μικρή χώρα μας,στη χώρα του Θρύλου!!!!!!
Κι όλα αυτά ''against all odds''!!!!!!

Διότι μεγαλώσαμε βλέπωντας:

· Τον Σκρουτζ Μακ Ντακ να συσσωρεύει πλούτο, εκμεταλλευόμενος ακόμα και τους συγγενείς του.

· Τον Ντόναλντ Ντακ με τα ανίψια του να είναι μια ζωή άνεργοι και όμως να επιβιώνουν.

· Τον Μίκι Μάους να υπόσχεται γάμο στη Μίνι, αλλά να μη την παντρεύεται ποτέ.

· Τον Πινόκιο να λέει συνεχώς ψέματα.

· Τον Αλαντίν να είναι κλέφτης και να κάνει παρέα με τον Αλή Μπαμπά και άλλους 40 κλέφτες.

· Τον Μπαγκς Μπάνυ να είναι ο πιο αλήτης της παρέας και να κλέβει συνεχώς το καρότο το επιούσιο.

· Τον Ντάφυ Ντακ, να κοροϊδεύει όλο τον κόσμο.

· Τον Ταρζάν να τριγυρνάει γυμνός από δω κι από κει.

· Τη Σταχτοπούτα να γυρνάει σπίτι της μεσάνυχτα. Και ξυπόλυτη.

· Τη Χιονάτη να μένει σε ένα σπίτι με επτά άντρες!!!

· Τον Μπάτμαν να οδηγεί με 300 χλμ την ώρα, παραβιάζοντας όλους τους κώδικες.

· Τον Ποπάυ να έχει τατουάζ και να καπνίζει συνεχώς πίπα.

· Τον Σούπερμαν να κρύβει την πραγματική του ταυτότητα.

· Και τελευταίο τον Πάκμαν, να τρέχει σε ένα σκοτεινό λαβύρινθο με ηλεκτρονική μουσική, καταπίνοντας χαπάκια αγνώστου προελεύσεως.

Με όλο αυτό το παιδικό μορφωτικό back-ground, περιμένει κανείς κάποια προκοπή κατά την ενηλικίωση;

For the last two years the Sauber F1 Team mechanics have been using their downtime to slice a Formula One racing car lengthwise down the middle with the precision of true craftsmen. Chief Designer Matt Morris quite literally gets underneath the skin of the F1 car, pointing out where and how the individual components are located within the chassis. Everything is packed in pretty tightly. Sergio Pérez is also on hand to demonstrate the driver's seating position.

In this dramatic photograph by Florin Biscu, we see Les Dents du Midi as seen from Champoussin, Switzerland. We also see a hut hanging precariously over the edge of a seemingly steep drop (could just be the angle). Unfortunately I was unable to find out too much about the hut. Les Dents du Midi (French: “The Teeth of the South”) are a multi-summited mountain situated in the Chablais Alps in the Swiss canton of Valais. They are composed of seven distinct summits and reach a height of 3257 metres (10,686 feet). Dominating the Val-d’Illiez and the Rhône Valley, to the south it faces the Lac de Salanfe, an artificial reservoir. Geologically it makes up a part of the massif Haut-Giffre. [Source: Wikipedia]

Amazing Vortex Water Sculpture by William Pye

According to Greek mythology, the sirens Charybdis and Scylla resided in the Sicilian Sea. Homer tells us that because Charybdis had stolen the oxen of Hercules, Zeus struck her with a thunderbolt and changed her into a whirlpool whose vortex swallowed up ships.
In the fascinating vortex water sculpture by artist William Pye entitled Charybdis, the circular movement of water inside a transparent acrylic cylinder forms an air-core vortex in the centre. Steps wrap around the cylinder and allow spectators to view the vortex from above. The cylinder was manufactured in Grand Junction, Colorado.
At time of completion Charybdis was William Pye’s largest air core vortex water sculpture to date, and used for only the second time the clear acrylic polymer he employed in Clearwater Cube. This material has enabled Pye to extend his sculptural language and to explore more ways in which to challenge the wayward element of water. A high level of water filtration is essential for maintaining transparency and thereby expressing the drama of the vortex.
This sculpture was completed in 2000 for the Seaham Hall Hotel in County Durham, UK. At the bottom of the post you will find a video that goes into more depth about the sculpture and how it works. Enjoy!
