President-elect Donald Trump said he plans to shut down his charitable foundation, a decision that comes after reiterated disputes over how it collected and disbursed monies.
In a statement Saturday, Trump offered no timeline for when his foundation would close down, but said he had aimed his attorney to take the steps needed to close the charity.
" The Foundation has done immense good works over the years in contributing millions of dollars to countless worthy groups, including supporting veterans, law enforcement officers and children ," Trump said in the statement." However, to avoid even the appearance of any conflict with my role as President I have decided to continue to pursue my strong those who are interested in philanthropy in other routes ."
The Donald J. Trump Foundation has come under intense scrutiny this year after a series of reports in The Washington Post detailing its practices, including lawsuits in which Trump apparently applied the charity's fund to settle lawsuits involving his for-profit businesses.
New York's us attorney general has also been investigating the charity after some of these reports, and a spokeswoman for that office said the charity could not officially shut down until that probe is over.
" The Trump Foundation is still under investigation by this office and cannot legally dissolve until that investigation is complete ," Amy Spitalnick, the spokesperson, said in an email Saturday.

The foundation is unusual in that it largely collects and donates money from other people. In fact, in the six years old from 2009 to 2014, Trump told the Internal Revenue Service that he'd devoted his namesake foundation no money at all. The biggest donors in recent years were Vince and Linda McMahon, the pro-wrestling moguls, who made the Trump Foundation$ 5 million between 2007 and 2009. Trump recently nominated Linda McMahon to head the Small Business Administration. Trump's foundation has also admitted in IRS tax filings for 2015 that it contravened a proscription against "self-dealing" that tells nonprofit leaders cannot use their charity's funds to help themselves, their relatives or their businesses. In these tax filings, the charity checked "yes" in response to a question asking whether it had transferred any income or assets to" a disqualified person" -- a description that could have meant Trump, a relative or a Trump-owned business.
Trump has not said what exactly he did to violate the rule, or what he has paid the IRS in penalty taxes as a result. The IRS has not commented when asked whether it was investigating the Trump Foundation. Trump's charity has been prohibited from fundraising by the office of New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman( D ), an action that came after The Post reported that the foundation had failed to register with the country. This meant the foundation had dodged annual audits required in the state of New York.
Schneiderman's office is also investigating the Trump foundation after reports in The Post describing apparent cases of self-dealing that date back to 2007. Trump also appears to use $258,000 of his foundation's money -- legally earmarked for charitable purposes -- to settle suits involving two of his for-profit clubs. In addition, the Trump foundation made a $25,000 endowment to a campaign committee backing Florida Attorney General Pam Bondi( R) even though nonprofits like the charity are not allowed to give political gifts. That endowment was made as Bondi's office was considering whether to investigate scam accusations against Trump University. Ultimately, Bondi's office did not pursue those allegations.
The foundation told the IRS it had $1.16 million in total assets by the end of 2015, recent developments tax filing available. The move to shut down Trump's foundation, first reported Saturday by the New York Times, goes as the president-elect and his family are facing intense questions regarding how they will avoid conflicts of interest while he is in the White House.

Patagonia Raises $10 Million For The Planet Challenging US Stand On Climate Change

Hipster and expensive is what you probably think when you walk into a Patagonia store.

The high-end sports apparel retailer has just announced their record breaking $10 million Black Friday profit, a Black Friday they called “fundraiser for the earth”, which they plan on donating every last cent to charities.

The outdoor clothing specialists predicted a $2 million profit, but nothing on this colossal scale. The special fundraising event attracted customers who had never shopped at Patagonia before, but all for the good cause of raising money for charity.

The company’s main focus is to donate funds “for the planet” and plan to spread the profits equally among grassroots nonprofits that work on protecting the environment, and environmental groups are underfunded and under the radar.

The hipster brand from California went on to discuss their concerns for the environment and America’s current efforts to save the planet, with what appears to be direct encouragement at the President-elect, Donald Trump.

“The science is telling us loud and clear: We have a problem. By getting active in communities, we can raise our voices to defend policies and regulations that will protect wild places and wildlife, reduce carbon emissions, build a modern energy economy based on investment in renewables, and, most crucially, ensure the United States remains fully committed to the vital goals set forth in the Paris Agreement on climate change.”

Trump has repeatedly called climate change a “hoax” and has promised to pull the United States out of the Paris climate deal and to increase America’s production of coal, oil and natural gas.

Patagonia has a long history of donating earnings towards protecting the environment and is a member of 1% For The Planet, an alliance of businesses that understand the necessity of protecting the natural environment.

6 Foods that You Should Never Reheat in a Microwave

Some 30 years ago, American kitchens received the gift of the microwave and quickly became dependent on it for lightning-fast heating. Younger generations can’t even imagine making oatmeal, hot chocolate, or popcorn without it. And yet so many of us are using the microwave incorrectly. Sure, we know to never zap aluminum foil, metal, or plastic, but there are equally dangerous risks involved in reheating certain foods.

For starters, a microwave does not cook food evenly, which often means any bacteria present in the food will survive. Then there’s the problem of microwave blasts directly contributing to the production of carcinogenic toxins. To minimize the microwave risks, resist the urge to use to cook or warm these six foods

1. Hard-boiled eggs: Shelled or unshelled, when a hard-boiled egg is cooked in a microwave, the moisture inside creates an extreme steam buildup, like a miniature pressure cooker, to the point where the egg can explode! Even scarier, the egg won’t burst inside the microwave while it’s being heated, but afterward, which means the scalding hot egg can erupt in your hand, on your plate, or even in your mouth. To avoid turning your egg into a steam-bomb, cut it into small pieces before reheating, or better yet, avoid putting it in the microwave all together.

2. Breast milk: Many new mothers freeze and store their breast milk for later use, which is great, as long as it’s not reheated in a microwave. In the same way that microwaves heat plates of food unevenly, they can also warm a bottle of breast milk unevenly, creating “hot spots” that can severely burn a baby’s mouth and throat. Then there’s the carcinogen hazard that comes with reheating plastic. The FDA recommends that breast milk and formula be thawed and reheated in a pot on the stove, or using a hot tap water. As a workaround, you could heat a cup of water in the microwave and then drop the bag or bottle of breast milk in it to thaw.

3. Processed meat: Processed meats contain chemicals and preservatives that extend their shelf lives. Unfortunately, microwaving them can make those substances worse for your health. Reheating processed meats with a burst of microwave radiation contributes to the formation of cholesterol oxidation products (COPs), which have been known to be more damaging to arteries than pure cholesterol. COPs are also directly linked to the development of coronary heart disease. Compared to other meal-prep methods, microwaving processed meats is far more likely to introduce COPs into your diet.

4. Rice: Rice, really? Apparently, microwaving rice can easily lead to food poisoning, according to the Food Standards Agency. Uncooked rice contains spores of bacteria that can survive being reheated. Once the rice is taken out of the microwave and left at room temperature, the spores could multiply and cause diarrhea and vomiting.

5. Chicken: All poultry, including chicken, contains some salmonella contamination, so it’s necessary to thoroughly cook chicken to eliminate all present bacteria. Since microwaves don’t fully or evenly cook all parts of the meat, you’re more likely to be left with surviving bacteria, such as salmonella. What’s more, chicken has a very high protein density, and it’s important for the proteins to be broken down at the same temperature. When some reheated proteins are broken down more slowly or quickly than others in the same piece, you’ll likely get an upset stomach.

6. Leafy greens: No matter how much you want to save your celery, kale, or spinach to eat later as leftovers, it’s better to throw them out than reheat them in a microwave, because the high concentrates of nitrates in leafy greens turn toxic when reheated. When blasted in the microwave, naturally occuring nitrates become nitrosamines, which are carcinogenic. The same holds true for reheating nitrate-rich beets and turnips!

It was a cold, snowy day when this Russian bird-dog saw himself in situations of emergency situation.

The ground was blanketed with fresh white snow. In the middle of what appeared to be a park pond stood a stark hole, to move to freeze cold water. Clinging to the edge of the icy hole was a black and white bird-dog. His paws were firmly pressed into the ice, so he could hold on as long as possible. How the dog terminated up there is unknown, but it was clear that this fluffy friend was in trouble.

Being that the dog was in the middle of a frozen-over body of water, passersby were hesitant to help. After all, their weight have been able to cracked the ice further, making for an even scarier situation. The poor bird-dog appeared to have little hope left of escaping the chilly waters.

Suddenly, a shirtless man rushed over to help, shuffling barefoot across the ice.

We're not sure if he removed his dres so he could better help the dog, or if he was shirtless in the beginning, but let us proceed.

Once the man get close enough, he slid down to his knees and onto his belly. He gently reached out for the dog, but his kind gesture wasn't very well received.

The cold, frightened bird-dog opened his mouth and bit the hand of the man trying to save him. The dog must have felt too frightened and his defenses ran up. Fortunately, the man wasn't about to leave the dog there because of a few bite marks.

The shirtless man continued reaching for the dog, trying to avoid his sharp bites. He steadied himself, preparing for a one-time shot at saving this dog's life.

He smoothly grabbed the nape of the dog's neck and plucked him up and out of the water. Once the canine was safe, he cheerfully walked away, and the shirtless man basked in the glory of has become a hero.
