Meet Janelle

Janelle was married on March 17, 2012!

For her hair I created a low bun with interlocking curls. The Makeup I used to create her natural look is from my makeup line A Radiant You which will be out by Spring. Her bridal party's makeup was done by my makeup artist Shonte Upchurch. Shonte used the makeup from my makeup line to create their radiant looks! Enjoy!

Wedding Dress Wednesday!

Today I am talking about one of my favorite dresses by one of my favorite designers Sabelle by Maggie Sottero! I absolutely love this dress! I tried it on at least five times in every bridal store that I went into. The fit of this dress is absolutely amazing it accentuates as well as hides all of the places you need it to. The beautiful beading on this dress will have everyone gasping as you walk down the aisle.

Nowadays there are so many choices for flowers. Some brides like feathers mixed in with flowers or my favorite, bling in the flowers!!! What ever you choose make sure that your flowers are not too big, you don't want people staring at the the flowers as you walk down the aisle.
It is always nice to add something sentimental to your bouquet like a picture of a loved one that passed away or wrap a piece of your mothers wedding dress around your flowers!

Hello All!
Today lets talk about decorations!!! It's the little details that make your guest mouths drop when they walk into your reception hall!! So, maybe instead of using the traditional table clothes from your reception hall. Try purchasing some inexpensive but beautiful table clothes for that extra pop! I found this site http://www.tableclothsfactory.com they have beautiful table clothes at a reasonable price.
They also carry napkins, chair sashes and chair covers. You can dress your table up any way you want! The possiblities are endless! Get creative when dressing up your napkin rings and chair sashes. Today I want to Highlight a photography/videography company called Picture Creations out of New York! Alex is the photographer at Picture Creations. He did my engagement photo shoot and he will be my photographer at my wedding in May!!! I have been very particular about which vendors I choose to be a part of my special day. I did a lot of research and I found Picture Creations. I loved the creativity that he puts into his pictures. One of my biggest concerns was finding a photographer that doesn't make you wait 8 weeks for your proofs. When Alex told me that he doesn't make brides wait 8 weeks I was sold!

This is my favorite picture that he took of me and my fiance for our engagement shoot. The possibilities are endless!

It is very important to ask your photographer questions before you sign the contract. Here are some important questions to ask via the Wedding Channel.

Make sure, when interviewing a photographer, that you see his or her portfolio to determine if the style suits yours. Other things to look for are:

Do the pictures have good color and clarity?
Did he pay attention to detail?
Does he capture the emotions and expressions of the day?
Is he creative with various poses?
Does he use soft lenses and lighting?
Can he do multiple exposures and split framing, which make interesting pictures?

Ask these important questions:

Will he personally be taking the photographs of your wedding? If not, ask to meet the person who will be.
Does he work with an assistant and will he have back-up equipment in the event of a problem?
Is he familiar with your ceremony and reception location?
Can you give him a list of special people with whom you want pictures?
How many hours does his price include?
What’s the charge, if any, if the reception should last longer than planned?
Will he stay through the cake cutting and garter toss?
How much time will you need to allow for the formal wedding photos taken either before or after the ceremony?
What are the photo package prices?
What are the individual picture prices?
What about parents’ albums?
When will the proof pictures be ready?
How long will the prints take, once they have been ordered?
Will he sell the album or negatives?
How many years does he keep the negatives?
What does he normally wear when photographing a wedding?
Will he wear a tuxedo or other specified attire?

Ask if he is a member of Wedding Photographers International. Membership usually reflects a high level of professional competence and ethics.
Look at other wedding albums he has done. They may give you ideas for your own. If you are considering taking formal portraits a few weeks before the ceremony, discuss this at the same time. These are generally taken in the photographer’s studio where he has necessary lighting, backdrops and equipment. Wear your hair and accessories the same way you will on your wedding day.
Ask if he keeps the negatives and for how long. See if they can be purchased now or in the future. They should be kept in a fireproof safe, in the event your pictures are ever destroyed.
Some additional tips:

Start looking for a photographer six to nine months before your wedding, since many are booked months in advance.
Look through the wedding albums of friends and relatives who live in your area. Personal recommendations are always good.
Bridal fairs are a great place to see the work of various photographers; get the names of those whose style you like.
Ask for recommendations from caterers, florists, or reception site coordinators.
Interview several photographers by making appointments to review their work.
Ask to see sample wedding albums or a set of proofs from a recent wedding.
Be sure the photographers you contact specialize in weddings. Don’t hire a commercial or part-time photographer who occasionally handles weddings.
Don’t forget: If you’re planning to send an announcement of your wedding to the newspaper, be sure your photographer knows, and takes a black and white portrait of the two of you as husband and wife. Order an 8 x 10 inch black and white glossy print to send to the paper.

This dress is called Demi. It is a Fit and flare gown with dipped neckline and corset closure. Dramatically gathered Bordeaux Metallic Taffeta lends a modern twist to the classic mermaid silhouette. Nowadays bakers are getting creative with the different cake styles and flavors. Choosing the right style cake is important, because your cake is one of the most important focal points at your reception.

I will be cake tasting for my own wedding soon I will let you know which flavors are the best! Check back in a couple of weeks for my cake tasting review on "I Thee Wed Thursday's" every Thursday I will be highlighting vendors!!!

It is important to interview your baker before you hire them. Here are some important questions to ask that I got via The Knot :

Do you customize wedding cakes?

Will the cake baker create a custom cake, or are there set styles to choose from? Look at photos and actual cakes, if possible. Be sure to bring pictures, fabric swatches, and other resources if you have a custom style in mind.

What are my filling choices?

Find out what filling choices are available and what ingredients are used. Whether you're looking for a fruity filling like strawberry or orange; or a heavier mocha or chocolate, the type of ingredients used will make all the difference in taste. Some common filling ingredients: fresh fruits or purees, Italian buttercream, and farm-fresh buttercream.
If you want to garnish your cake with fresh flowers, find out whether your cake designer will work with your florist or you are responsible for the blooms.

How far in advance are wedding cakes prepared?

Keep in mind that cake bakers often have more than one cake per weekend to prepare. So don't be surprised if your baker makes your cake three to four days prior to your wedding day. Of course, the closer to your wedding date the better.

Who will bake my wedding cake?

How are your wedding cakes priced?

Does the wedding cake price include the top tier?

Depending on the baker, the top tier may or may not be included in the overall price. Find out the cake baker's policy, and whether having a top tier will add dollars to your bill.

What is the delivery process?

Some cake bakers will deliver your wedding cake to the reception for an added fee, while others ask that you have someone pick it up the day-of. Is the baker licensed by the state?

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month

Bridesmaids movie!!!

Ok, so I didn't watch this movie in the theaters but I kept hearing how funny it was. So as soon as it came out on DVD I rented it.

Hilarious, that's all I can say!

Melissa McCarthy's character (Megan) made this movie! Every scene she is in, was so funny, especially when she took the dogs! I don't want to spoil the movie for you so If you haven't watched this movie yet run out to the store and buy it now!
