Epson wants you to get printing with more all-in-one models

2011-03-02T00:53:00.000+05:00

Epson knows that good quality printers are hard to come by these days, and they being an old hand in the industry, intends to spice it up with more all-in-one models. We’re talking about the new range of Artisan all-in-ones, namely the Artisan 835 and Artisan 725. It seems that Epson has done a little bit of market research on their own, and the results were in their favor (obviously), where image quality of their printers was preferred by consumers 3-to-1 over the competition. It also helps that Epson’s latest range of printers will come with a host of unique features, making them being marketed as a “perfect match” for today’s active, digital families that who need just a solitary solution when it comes to printing.

The Artisan 835 would be the flagship model of the series, where it will feature a 7.8″ smart touch panel display, a 3.5″ color LCD display, an integrated fax capability (not that many people use it these days, but still), and a 30-page Automatic Document Feeder which makes it a snap to copy and fax documents in a jiffy. As for the Artisan 725, this model will come with an enhanced touch panel for easier navigation. Both of them will come with 2.5 times faster wireless connectivity thanks to Wi-Fi n connectivity, not to mention support for wireless printing from an Apple iPhone. It also touts to have the fastest 4” x 6” photo print speed in the world, but we guess that depends on how it was benchmarked. Using Epson’s six-color Ultra Hi-Definition Claria ink, printouts are expected to look stunning, whether images or text.(Cool-Gadgets)

X-Cool is a new gaming look for the calculator

2011-03-02T00:46:00.000+05:00

Do you remember the day when a calculator was a separate tool from your cellular phone? Man, I can still remember the days when pocket calculators were expensive. They were really big back in the late seventies when the tech got small and cheap, but I highly doubt there is a big market for them now. This particular calculator is known as the X-Cool, and it is a very obvious attempt to make math look cool by turning this calculator into a mod of a video game controller. The fact that the calculator has X in its title is a definite indicator of the X-box 360 controller that it is similar to, but it has the color of a PS3 one.
I like how the addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division signs are on the left, where a movement joystick would be. Then all the other keys are where the firing would be. I have no idea what the “bumpers” do, but I like where the CE and equals keys are placed. As for the numbers, that’s probably where they belong.
So, whether you are a math nerd or a gaming nerd, this would be the calculator for you. You should be able to get it for about $13.99.(Cool-gadgets)

Katrina Kaif - Indian Actress

2011-02-22T00:04:00.001+05:00

Katrina Kaif (born 16 July 1984) is an actress and former model who appears in Indian films, mainly in the Hindi-language film industry. She has also appeared in Telugu and Malayalam films. She was voted the "Hottest Woman in the World" by Eastern Eye in the years 2008, 2009 and 2010.

Kaif began her modeling career at the age fourteen; her first job was for a jewelry campaign. She continued modeling in London under a contract with the Models 1 Agency and did campaigns for houses such as La Senza and Arcadius, and even walked on the London Fashion Week.

Kaif's London modeling-work led to her discovery by London-based filmmaker Kaizad Gustad, who gave her a part in his film Boom (2003). She moved to Mumbai and was offered a number of modeling assignments. However, filmmakers were initially hesitant to sign her because she could not speak Hindi.
Kaif saw moderate success with the 2005 film Sarkar, where she played the bit part of Abhishek Bachchan's girlfriend, and Maine Pyaar Kyun Kiya (2005), where she was paired opposite Salman Khan.

In 2007, Kaif appeared in her first major hit movie, Namastey London, wherein she starred as a British Indian girl alongside Akshay Kumar for the second time after the box office letdown Humko Deewana Kar Gaye (2006). Her run of hit films continued with Apne, Partner, and Welcome.

In 2008, she played the villain role for the first time in Abbas-Mustan's hit action thriller Race. She played the role of Saif Ali Khan's secretary who is secretly in love with his hostile stepbrother (played by Akshay Khanna). Kaif's second release of the year was Anees Bazmee's production Singh Is Kinng, opposite Akshay Kumar. The film was a big success at the box office. Kaif's final release of the year, Subhash Ghai's Yuvvraaj, was a commercial failure, but its script has made its way into the Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences for artistic merits, original screenplay with a substance, and the film as a whole.

Kaif's first release for 2009, New York, with John Abraham, was a critical and commercial success. Kaif's performance was highly regarded. Wrote critic Taran Adarsh, "Katrina gives you the biggest surprise. Known for her glamour roles, Katrina proves that she can deliver if the director and writer offer her a role of substance. She's outstanding. In fact, people will see a new, different Katrina this time."

She next played a bit role as a biker chick in the multi-starrer action film Blue, popularly known as India's first underwater thriller, which performed decently at the box office. The film was not successful.

At the year's end, she appeared in Ajab Prem Ki Ghazab Kahani, with Ranbir Kapoor, and De Dana Dan with Akshay Kumar. Both films were commercial successes.

Kaif's first film of 2010 was Raajneeti, where she appeared opposite Ranbir Kapoor. The film did extremely well at the box office, receiving a blockbuster status. She is also starred in Farah Khan's Tees Maar Khan with Akshay Kumar. The film was released on 24 December 2010. Although the film was not successful, Kaif's item song Sheila Ki Jawani was a hit. (Wikipedia)

Personalized Chocolate Fondue Set - You Warm My Heart

Forget Swiss cheese, the best fondue sets are all about chocolate! This personalized fondue set is the perfect ending to any romantic dinner.

Enjoy whatever type of fondue suits your fancy with our exclusive fondue set, complete with any 1-line personalization below the sweet message "You Melt My Heart."

Dip strawberries, marshmallows, fruit... anything you want into a bowl of gorgeously warm chocolate. Better still, all you need to heat your chocolate is the included candle, meaning you can take the set almost anywhere with you!

6 Hand-Dipped Valentine's Berries

Their eyes will widen at the sight of our brightly themed Valentine's Berries. Each strawberry will greet their lips with a smile as they think of how special you are for giving such a remarkable gift. Celebrate your romance by sending the memorable gift of Valentine's Berries. 1 Berry Dipped in Milk with Heart Sprinkles

Oh sweetie!

If you must buy chocolates (it's not that we object to them, we just think they are for the other 364 days of the year too) then at least make them limited edition, Michelin-starred-chef chocolates. These are created by Jason Atherton for Harvey Nichols - and three of the boxes even contain a "golden ticket" to win a meal at his new restaurant (opening late March).

Cut it out!

Rob Ryan's charming paper cut designs have become ubiqituous of late, but they are still a lovely way to say "let's share a cup of tea together". Nothing could be more romantic than a strong brew, surely - so we'll even let the "his and her" idea pass, just this once.

Smelly stuff

Scented candles are, admittedly, hardly the most adventurous of gifts, but then Diptyque are the Rolls-Royce of scented candles, so this is a great gift for someone who appreciates the finer labels in life.

Flowers

While a bouquet of red roses may be a bit overzealous for a first date, other flowers may send your message perfectly. Do some research and choose carefully; gardenias denote secret love, orchids are always lovely, showing beauty and refinement, while yellow roses mean friendship. Just be sure to order your flowers early because Valentine’s Day can be a busy time for this industry. Relationship level: Works for all levels

Wireless advances could mean no more cell towers

2011-02-13T02:13:00.000+05:00

As cell phones have spread, so have large Cell Towers — those unsightly stalks of steel topped by transmitters and other electronics that sprouted across the country over the last decade.

Now the wireless industry is planning a future without them, or at least without many more of them. Instead, it's looking at much smaller antennas, some tiny enough to hold in a hand. These could be placed on lampposts, utility poles and buildings — virtually anywhere with electrical and network connections.

If the technology overcomes some hurdles, it could upend the wireless industry and offer seamless service, with fewer dead spots and faster data speeds.(AP)

The year 2011 promises to be a busy one for the Royal Family. But there is no doubt which event will be the high-point, both for the family and for the public. Prince William's wedding to Catherine Middleton at Westminster Abbey on 29 April has been long in coming.
