How to Jailbreak an Iphone

So alot of people are run in to are scared to jailbreak their iphone because they think it's either too complicated or too risky. Well the matter of the fact is that it's neither. Jailbreaking the iphone only takes about 5 minutes and if it doesn't work or if you don't like it, you can always plug in your phone to iTunes and hit the restore to take it back to the backed up configuration.

Before I post the quick steps to jailbreak the iphone i just wanted to remind everyone not to do this for the wrong reasons (ie, free apps, etc...) but to have the freedom of open source codes on your phone.

Here are the quick steps:

Download Redsnow for the version of your Iphone (ie. 4.1.2) from the iternet - Google will help
Download the official ISPW (IOS) for your iphone version from the apple website. You can also get this from your pc where iTunes stores the backup.
Connect your phone to your PC
Launch RedSnow
Follow the instructions on RedSnow and Jailbreak

GPS Features to Consider When Buying

In order to find the best GPS system, you have to first understand what they generally do and what are the usual features, then define what you want it for.

Virtually all GPS systems come with the following:

-Voice prompts that tell you where to turn
-Touch screen
-Large database of "Points of Interest" (locations of hospitals, ATMs, McDonalds, etc.)
-Choice between 2D "map view" and 3D "bird's eye" views
-Automatic route calculation
-Choice between shortest and fastest routes
-Come preloaded with maps of the 48 states

The main optional features to consider when buying a GPS system are these:

-Does it actually say the names of the street you need to turn on as you approach it?
-Do you need a widescreen version (4.3-inches diagonally as opposed to 3.5-inches)?
-Do you need maps of Canada, Mexico, and/or Europe?
-Does it support Bluetooth technology, which allows you to use your GPS system in conjunction with your cell phone to make hands-free calls? (Which essentially makes it a windshield mounted version of those little ear clips people walk around with.)
-Can you enter multiple routes into the unit and have it calculate the best route to get to all of them? Say you were in an unfamiliar city and you wanted to go to the cleaners, the grocery store, the movies, and a local dentist all on one trip. Could the GPS system calculate the shortest possible route to get to all of these?
-Does it have real-time traffic and weather report capability, and can it use that information to re-route you around traffic jams?
Can you use your device to listen to music (mp3) or to look at digital pictures?

So, in order to find the best GPS device for you, you need to first decide which of these optional features are necessary, and which you might like if you can afford it. Probably the most significant feature when choosing a digital camera is the number of megapixels, which determines the quality of your photos. Choose too few for your needs, and your images will suffer. Choose too many, and you might be spending more cash than necessary.

For most people, however, deciding on the elusive perfect number can be tough. Put it this way, the larger your picture, the more megapixels you will need in your camera. But if you are like me and just like to take regular picture, an 8 megapixel camera should be more than enough. If you are planning on making posters or print printing wall size pictures, you really do not need anything more that 7-8 megapixels. What people really tend to forget is that most of the time they will be taking pictures from a distance. What you really need to focus on is getting a camera that has optical zoom in addition to a digital zoom. This will help you take great pictures from a distance with a quality that you will not get just with a digital zoom. Usually a 4X optical zoom with 3X digital zoom and 8 megapixels is more than enough for daily use.

Obama Being President and What it Means

Now I know this has nothing to do with electronics and also has nothing to do with Canada directly, but it is a very important topic and I wanted to give my thoughts about it.

During President elect Obama's inauguration into presidency, I heard many people say "what is the big deal? He hasn't done anything yet", and that got me thinking. So i took a couple of days together my thought and see how I could put this together in a couple of paragraphs (although there is allot more that can be said) and this is what I came up with.

Au contraire to what many people who are making those comments think, I think that this was and is still a big deal because not only is this history in the making, but Mr. Obama's presidency represents a change in the way people now think. Even if the 44th president does not accomplish as many changes as he has promised, he has proven that world has changed, the way people look at the United States has changed, and finally the United States people have grown in their beliefs.

So whats the big deal people say? Well for one, he is the first black president of the United States, and that show that the people of the US are ready for growth and change. Secondly, He has brought hope to the people around the world who are struggling with racial and political conflicts for years. Finally, he has changed the image of the whole country, being being the leader and by having strong moral beliefs.

These are my thoughts on this topic. Congratulations to the President and I hope that people around the world can appreciate this progress in humanity.

Iphone 3G or Windows Mobile?

Many people ask the same question and I was one of those people "should I switch to the Iphone or stay with my Windows Mobile Device?". I made a decision and I think it is the right one so far as i am happier now than I was before.

Having used a wide array of WM (windows moblie) devices such as Samsung Blackjack, the O2 XDA Exec, the LG KS20 and the HTC Tilt, I thought WM was the best thing in the world. I was able to get all my pc apps and e-mail on my phone with no hastles. I used WM for about 7 years and loved every single app installed on my phone. From WM5 to WM6, i had seen it all

So just like every single WM phone user, I was totally against any Apple product including the Iphone. the more I saw it, the more i hated it. Of course, this was until a couple of days before Christmas when my fiance and myself were walking through a mall, and she mentioned how she was going to get me the Iphone if i wanted it. I thought about it for a few minutes, and decided why not, if i don't like it, i'll sell it on Ebay.

So that was when I decided that the Iphone 3g was the best phone ever invented. Of course other that having to deal with apple apps and buying their apps, the functionality blows the WM out of the water. Where the WM phones fail, the Iphones succeeded. There was no lag, not freezeing, an outsanding web browser that, even though it's been tried, cannot be duplicated. My e-mails actually show up like they do on my pc if not better. And that was when i realized that change was sometimes for the best. I've sold on the iphone!

So, if you are asking yourself the same question I was, go to an apple store and try it!

Ressetting the LG KS20

Alot of times people purchase used phone from people who have their PIM and applications still in the phones. This can cause slow downs, and make the phone look more used than it cold be. The best thing to do in that case is to put your phone back into a refresh mode by performing a hard reset. This will clear any data or application that were installed that are not proprietary to the phone. If you want to keep the application or data, do not do this.

Don't forget that hard resetting your device means that you will lose all your data and applications installed. So make sure you make a proper backup of the things you need before taking the drastic step. EZelectronix will not be held responsible for any damage(s) on your handheld as a result of the hard reset. Please refer to the instruction manual or the LG service staff for more information before attempting to hard reset your device.

This is how you do this:

1. Turn off the KS20 completely (do this by pressing and holding the power button and wait for the prompt).
2. Press and hold these three buttons--volume down, Call and power--till the LED (this is beside the front camera) flashes.
3. Release the buttons. That same LED should flash blue/red/green and power up.
4. The KS20 should be in a clean state.

Ressetting the HTC TILT KAiser or 8925

With the device powered on, press and hold the Left and Right Soft Keys.
Whilst holding the Left and Right Soft Keys, perfrom a Soft Reset on the device by inserting the stylus into the reset hole.
If successful, you will get a message on the display of your device asking you to confrim the Hard Reset
Once you select YES if will ask you to imput 1234 to confirm

And you are done.
