As a child I would look at older woman and wonder,"Why does she do her makeup that way?" Who wears blue eye shadow with red lip stick besides Beyoncé in that BLOW video? (BTW she is the only person allowed to rock that makeup look, ok ladies, carry on) Later in life I learned that woman get stuck using the same products because we mentally label something as "being our favorite" and of course over the years we keep buying and doing the same look . Then you have woman that try to follow trends. *sigh* This is where it can take a turn for the worst. Sharpie brows, halo brows, butterfly eyelashes, harsh contour, white contour, nude powdered donut lips... the list goes on and on!

I have gathered my top 6 makeup HELL NO's!! If you fall into this category please, pretty please stop! It really doesn't look good & if your friend does this and you still hit LIKE on her pic on IG you're just as guilty and should be punished too.

#6 FROSTY THE SNOW LIP / POWDERED DONUT LIP

WHY? I want to burn every white frost lipstick in the world! The is terrible! I think woman make an attempt to do a neutral color but white frost or powdered donut color isn't it!! There is nothing appealing about this lip color AT ALL! #5 BLACK WIDOW LIP LINER LIPS

Yes people actually still do this lip!! Can you believe it. Its just not our L.A or Texas Cholaz ! This is ugly! I've seen people do black lip liner and a gloss on top! The early 90's look isn't working in 2015. Why can't a deep plum lip liner work? but also use a color lipstick similar to the lip liner color as well?

#4 MR. SNUFFLEUPAGUS LASHES

Ok I get it!! We grew up watching Sesame Street and loved Mr. Snuffleupagus but I never really wanted to have his lashes tho. Lashes are suppose to enhance your eyes, now a days you look like your going to fly away. If people like how you look without your falsies then there's a problem! We all wanna have Kim K lashes but you have made a wrong turn and going down the wrong street if your lashes look like these pics!! COME BACK!!

#3 SHARPIE BROWS

If your brows after you have drawn them on are thicker than your finger or blacker than tar then you need to get your life together. For one... You should never ever use a black pencil for your brows! 2nd... You should never press down sooo hard to create such a hard line. Brows are your friends. They frame your face. They help you express when your happy, or excited even when your sad .

#2 HALO HIGHLIGHTING

Halo isn't just another song on Beyoncé's album, its actually a makeup technique makeup artist use that has spiraled out of control! The technique is used to define your brows to make them look picture perfect by using a concealer. Normally the concealer is 2 shades lighter but ppl have started using the light color on top of their brows which is a NO NO and has resulted in the pics above!

M.A.C must of came out with a limited edition funeral collection foundation line that I don't know about because not only do I see celebrities with this I see a lot of regular ppl on my IG and Facebook with it. Of course I can't use their pics (wish I could lol) but please ask yourself this, " Does my face match my body?" Take a pic with the flash on and see if it matches. Your face doesn't have to be exactly the color of your body but try to get as close to it as possible. You can't have a winter face with a summer body!

It was love at first application!!! ❤❤ Even though I'm a makeup artist I struggle just like a lot of women trying to find that perfect match. Color,texture and finish play a big role in my final decision. It is a full coverage foundation so you only need 2 small pea size amounts for your entire face! If you have dry skin this may not be the right foundation due to the matte finish. You can try mixing it with a tinted moisturizer or just use it on your problem areas. I haven't tried her concealer but if its anything like the foundation, it will definitely be a future purchase! I purchased color #62, it's a bit dark but i mixed it with a lighter concealer and i do plan on getting some sun so its perfect!

Since the days of Cleopatra women have always had a very close relationship with their black eyeliner pencils. I'm not saying to get rid of it, but lets try to put it down for a brief second! This makeup look is very simple. Take a nude color all over your lid, black eyeliner on top and take a lilac shadow and smudged underneath your lash line.

Blue Eye Liner helps the white of your eyes look brighter and makes blue eyes stand out even more. We were always told never to match your eyeliner to the color of your eyes but PHUCK the rules! lol Makeup is suppose to be fun! Its okay to step out of the box and try something new every now and then!

A touch of a teal was used in the above picture. As you can see the eye makeup is kept very clean and adding a little touch of color changes the look completely! A great makeup look if your going out to happy hour with the girls right after work. Its an effortless but appreciated look that always makes a statement!

If you haven't heard of Angela Meadows you must be living under a rock! She is a celebrity hair stylist that has worked w/ La La, Serena & Venus Williams, Kelly Rowland and Trina just to name a few. This past Saturday she had a soft Grand Opening of her salon on the heart of South Beach and I was the featured artist doing makeup on the models and introducing MOTIVES for LA LA to her salon alongside Diego Cash (La La's brother). With so many makeup lines we sometimes find ourselves in the cosmetic section of department stores asking, "Which one is better?"

BOBBI BROWN LONG WEAR GEL EYELINER VS M.A.C FLUIDLINE EYE LINER GEL

Both are great liners, easy to put on, comes in a variety of colors BUT I have to go with MAC FLUIDLINE EYE-LINER gel! WHY you ask? Well the BOBBI BROWN liner tends to flake after a while and who wants to worry about that mid afternoon?? NOT ME!! Even though they are both gels for some reason the MAC goes on smoother and stays on longer w/out flaking.

LAURA MERCIER EYE BASICS VS URBAN DECAY SHADOW MAGIC POTION EYE BASE

For those that are a little clueless on what an eye base is, its a product you put on before you put shadow and it makes everything last 10 times longer! Especially living in Miami, primers are a MUST HAVE in your makeup bag. My favorite one out of these two products is LAURA MERCIER!! I love the fact that as soon as you put it on it dries to a powder finish, and also comes in a variety of shades so if you wanted to skip the eyeshadow and just do the base and still look like you have eyeshadow on you can.

M.A.C EYEBROW PENCIL VS ANASTASIA EYE BROW PENCIL

If you are still a person filling in your brows w/ your brown/black eyeliner than you definitely need to read this section of the blog. Anastasia is known as the "Eyebrow Guru" in the beauty world. She has done eyebrows to a lot of celebs and came out with her eyebrow line years ago. I was a little disappointed using this pencil. I love using a thinner, retractable pencil to do my brows. It gives you a more natural and neater look to the brows. So sorry Anastasia, i have to go with MAC eyebrow pencil for this one.

TARTE CLEAN SLATE PORELESS 12 HOUR PRIMER VS MAKEUP FOREVER HD PRIMER

An artist must always prime his canvas before creating his work of art. The same rule applies when putting on makeup. Your skins looks smoother and has more of a flawless appearance if used before putting on your foundation. I had a tough time choosing between these two, so i had to call it a tie!! What i love about TARTE'S primer is that it fills your pores and leaves the skin feeling so silky,

smooth and soft. It almost gives it that airbrushed look. The MAKEUP FOREVER primer leaves the skin looking radiant and that beautiful glow to it. I love it for drier skin or skin that lacks radiance. When looking for a primer, its all about what works best on your skin and not about what Allure rates as the best, or what your girlfriend uses.

The new collection which is called "IN EXTRA DIMENSION" is phenomenal! I fell in love with the following items

The color i fell in love with is called HAVANA. It sort of looks like a cream in the picture but it is a powder, but not just any ordinary powder shadow. MAC refers to it as a "liquid eyeshadow." The texture is very smooth and has a high shine in it w/out shimmer. I love this color because it goes well with every complexion.

Next on the list is "PLAY IT PROPER". This is an illuminating powder w/out shimmer. Kind of weird right? but it gives your skin that glow but looks super natural. Usually when using a HIGH SHINE product you see the shimmer particles on your face, but since this powder is a satin finish, it gives shine w/out the shimmer! AMAZING! This color is only for fair to med. tan complexions.

This is the skin finish powder in "WHISPER OF GUILT". This is a high lighter for the face almost the same concept of the powder above. Give luminosity w/out large shimmer particles on the face! They come in different colors so every complexion can use this product. You would use this product on ur cheeks, cheekbones, and down the contour of your nose. Anywhere u want a little shimmer!

The picture below is a great guide to help you place your high lighter. Your bronzer should always go below this color, and should always be MATTE. I would suggest LAURA MERCIER MATTE BRONZER for MED. TO TAN complexions and for darker what i always do with clients is use a deeper pwd foundation as a bronzer and also for contouring.

You can still be cute on a budget! There is no excuse!!

I have used this foundation for about 2 weeks now and i truly love it! It is super light weight and gives pretty good coverage considering that its a foam. I pump a little bit in my hand and just spread it all over my face like lotion and I just finish it off with a little mineral powder and I'm done!

This mascara is one of the blackest mascaras Ive tried in a very long time. FIERCE!!! It gives great volume to lashes w/out leaving them hard and brittle!

This is another fav. mascara of mine. This gives your lashes an incredible length but not too much with the volume. So i always go back and forth between this one and the one and the CARBON BLACK, just depends on my mood. LADIES please don't forget to curl your lashes!!! That's like peanut butter w/ out the jelly, hamburger w/out the fries, bagel w/out the cream cheese! A LASH CURLER is super important! PLEASE don't forget this step BEFORE applying mascara!

I love using this eye lash curler from Laura Mercier. I prefer this one because its plastic. The metal ones kind of scare me. I always feel like my lashes are going to come off.

I have tried everything from La Prairie, La Mer, Clarins etc. These are all great products but if $250-$1000 dollars isn't in your budget for skin care I have something for you have to try. One thing that all skin care products have in common is HYDRATION which is very important!! Moisturizer is the way your skin way of quenching its thirst.

This product from ROC happens to be my favorite. On one side of the pad is soapy so it cleanses and on the other side of the pad is a little more textured to help you get rid of all those dead skin cells that are just resting on you face and making you look dry. Also helps diminish the appearance of fine lines to keep you looking younger.

Next product that i love and would just recommend doing this once a week is this Laura Mercier Face Polish. What a scrub does is remove dead skin cells. The older we get the longer it takes longer for our skin cells to renew themselves on their own, so exfoliation helps speed up that process.

Now please don't laugh at the next product. lol I'm pretty sure some of you are saying "hell no" or "that's ghetto"... lol but don't knock it until you try it.. I started using NIVEA cream one day after i ran out of my pricey moisturizer and fell in love! Its super rich in moisture, i even use it under my eyes. I recently started using it on a couple of clients. I hate when your putting foundation on someone and there skin is so dry that it makes the foundation look horrible. Guaranteed you will love the glow it gives to your skin. I'd rather look dewy and shinny than dry and rough.. lol DON'T YOU AGREE?

R&B singer Ashanti featured her new video on 106 & Park yesterday. We have never seen Ashanti with this look but you know what..... I AM LOVING IT! VERY BOLD CAT EYE, makes Amy Winehouse cat eye look mediocre.

For the people that are not that skilled in the makeup department you can cheat your way to the perfect cat eye w/ these eyeliner stickers. You stick them on the eye lid and your done!!

You have to give it to Angelina for stealing the show during the Oscars w/ her perfectly toned legs (or should i say LEG? lol ) to compliment that high split in her stunning dress! We couldn't keep our eyes off that leg but if you did get a chance to look at her face, her makeup was stunning! I love when she gives us that ultra glam look on the red carpet. Sultry eyes and red lips! Can we all just wake up w/ this makeup look? LOL I wouldn't mind seeing her rock this look more often. Don't you guys agree?

Another show stopper for the night was Miley Cyrus. The media said that this look kind of aged her, but i totally disagree. I think it is such a beautiful sophisticated look. If looking "older" means looking that glamorous, i wouldn't mind at all!!

JLO JLO JLO!! What can i say? She looked more than just amazing! With that jaw dropping dress she made a wise decision and went very light and natural with her makeup.

Milla Jovovich looked stunning with rich matte red lips that contrasted her one-shoulder white gown. The actress wore a waved side-parted bob while her eye makeup was kept soft and tame with rosy blush matching the lipstick. LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

I recently visited Walmart and I came across this brush line called HIGH DEFINITION. Every single brush was sold out, and i thought to myself, wow these brushes must be amazing, not even one brush was available. I went back 2 weeks later and found 2 brushes! I know what your thinking, WALMART? lol Ewwwww... lol I know that most drug store brushes are not good quality, either their super hard, hair is constantly falling off or you can just look at it and they seem very low quality. I don't know if these brushes were initially suppose to go to SAKS or Neimen Marcus and some how ended up at WALMART but they are super soft and feel amazing. For some of you that say HIGH DEFINITION??? What is that? That just means that they give you a more even, well blended application. You look flawless, and who doesn't want that? Even comparing them to brushes i have (Chanel, Laura Mercier, Trish McEvoy, MAC) they are in the lead!
Look at the prices below! You will spend 50 dollars and come out w/ great brushes! Try them out you will not regret it!

Achieve perfect brows w/ these must have products!!

These 3 products are items that i use on my clients and also on myself! The first product is an EYE SHADOW BASE from LAURA MERCIER. Not only do i use this all over my lid but i also take it on my brow bone and sometimes even on my eye brow. The whole purpose of an eye base is that it prevents your lid from becoming oily therefore making anything you put on top of it last longer. The second must have item is TARTE EYE BROW PENCIL. I no longer use regular pencils that you have to sharpen, retractable pencils are the way to go. Why u ask? The smaller tip of the pencil not only looks more natural but blends in better with your own brows, and its water-proof and humidity proof! Then last but not least i like to take this ANASTASIA EYEBROW POWDER and fill my brows for an even long lasting result.

Yes, you read it right, concealer used as foundation! If your a person who doesn't like to wear alot of foundation, or maybe you don't really have so much to cover up, try using this PROLONG MAC CONCEALER. It gives great coverage, but still very light weight and you don't feel like you have anything on at all. Also try using the MAC SKIN FINISH POWDER to finish it off for a radiant, natural look.

So my recent makeup purchase has lead me to buying this wonderful paletet from URBAN DECAY called NAKED...Its a great buy at only $48 bucks and it comes w/ a makeup brush and also a fabulous eye base that keeps on your eyeshadow. Its takes you from a simple day time look to something more intense. And this palette works on every complexion which i love! And if anyone knows about URBAN DECAY COSMETICS the pigment is sick!!! <----that means good lol So if your looking for new eye shadows try this one out! It will be a purchase you will not regret.

I know your probably saying to yourself.. TARTE? Who makes that? Alot of ppl haven't really heard of this line. Its only carried at Sephora and Ulta Stores. I was up late one night and watching QVC and they were advertising this mascara. I was amazed by the instant volume it gives to your lashes, but i had doubts. You know sometimes what you see on TV isn't always real. SO i took a chance and bought it and can i tell you that i am IN LOVE! It adds fullness & volume instantly without looking clumpy! You do not have to worry about your lashes being hard and brittle afterwards! For $19 dollars its a great value! Its so worth the buy!

Different shades of gray that look good
on any complexion

We have all become so use to just using BLACK eye liner but have you ever experimented around with a different color? Gray is a good way to experiment with a little color but still having the depth that you get from black. Doing a darker shade of gray as your top liner and smudge it then use a lighter shade of gray on the bottom is an amazing look for any type of event. If you use black eyeliner now and u feel like you always look tired, try switching to GRAY. Try out CHANEL eyeliner in GRIS SCINTILLANT. That's one of my favorite colors in a pencil eyeliner.

So this is a project that i have been working on for a couple weeks. I wanted to show the difference that makeup makes, especially when people are concerned about specific things like wanting their nose to looking more slender, or make them look like they have high cheek bones.

So instead of spending money on a plastic surgeon just invest your money on a good makeup artist :)

On the model i used for this project, i decided to do a "semi natural" look on her. Earth tone
shadows were used on her and just concentrated on features like eyebrows, contouring her nose and using a lighter concealer to add a little brightness to certain areas. Below are more before and after pictures showing the same type of technique used. ENJOY!!

So i was in Sephora to do some makeup shopping and came across this line called THE BALM COSMETICS. The packaging caught my eye, kind of similar to BENEFIT so i started to explore. I absolutely fell in love with this bronzer! The glow that this product gives to the skin is amazing! I apply right on the apples of my cheeks and take it above my cheek bones. Gives you such a radiant, healthy look. And ladies please remember we just want to have a slight glow, so we dont have to brush this on all over our face. Doesn't look to good in pictures when you O.D on this..

Tired of your eyeliner smudging? Try this!!

So i decided to experiment with this new eyeliner from Makeup Forever, and it is pretty amazing. When i say that it stays put all day! All FREAKING day!! I even went to sleep w/ my makeup on and still had it on the next day! On a scale of 1-10 this product get an 11.. Alot of creamy type of eyeliners tend to be flaky after a couple of hours, but this one does not have any texture to it when applied. :) Try it out you wont regret it!
