Hi Guys,

What a wierd and amazing year 2011 have been. It has been filled with many changes and many difficult journey. Such is life...

Last night I celebrated the New Year in "Bunderan HI". It is pretty much the equivalent of being in Times Square in New York or Tranfagar Square and Picadilly circus at the same time (for Londoners). It has been 16 year since I last celebrated new years in Indonesia. The concept of new years and heat is quiet strange however it is amazing still. There was loads of ordinary working class people of Indonesia there, you get the sense of being a part of something huge. The whole event was generally unplanned, meaning the government did not provide entertainment but security was there... chilling out on their bikes smoking cigarettes enjoying the athmosphere. The coolest thing about this gathering for the new year is that people bought their own fireworks and created their own fireworks. Now many of you know that in the UK every event has a strong sense of public safety enforced by the public. Now take that security and throoow it away.... You have fireworks coming from front, left, right and back so it was trully spectatucular to have fireworks so near you and coming from an unpredictable angle. There were vendors sellers selling food and drink everywhere that up their price a bit! (They thought they can since its new years).

It was the noise, the smell (of gunpowder), the heat, seeing whole families riding in motorbikes, klaxons, noisy toy trumpet (i bought one and it broke after an hour) and last but not least a pumping DANGDUT BEAT! WOOOOO.....

Loved loved loved it!

I have read this article on the BBC about Mr Johnny Depp.

Basically the quick outline is that:
"Actor Johnny Depp says his interpretation of Captain Jack Sparrow in
Pirates Of The Caribbean was not liked by Disney bosses. "

Are they seriously dumb! The dude earned an oscar nomination for a
kiddie pop film surely that bring some sort of unique credibility.
Without a doubt in my opinion mr Depp has made Pirates cool in 21st
century!

Last night while watching X-Factor and reading tweets, I enconter these tweeets from Richard Russell.

If you dont know about him just google XL Recordings and alll the info on their website.

XL Recordings is one of those very unique record label that champion great music! So anyways this is what he said:

"artists are perceived beyond just their music. the non-music side of music is important. you could call it the aesthetic side

playing an instrument well is fantastic. singing well is also great. but its good if you can communicate yourself outside of your music

If your music & message is strong enough, the visual needn't be complicated. Portishead have got a lot of mileage from a blue and white "P"

thinking about the non-music side of your music is important if for no other reason than: thinking like that can help your music

David Bowie created a whole lot of fantasy with no technology to rely on. now most of the tools are virtually free.

if you're Adele, beyond your music, you can communicate via your amazing personality. your realness

if you're Gorillaz, you create a whole other audio-visual world of fantasy. if you're Florence: theatricality, drama, costume

but there has to be more than music. if youre struggling with your music career, you should think about what you're doing outside of music

Its not about being style-orientated. or (god forbid) fashionable. its being so good that the non-music side is locked as well as the music"
