My responses to quiz in my wife's blog

1. Wrapping paper or gift bags?

Gift bags. I can't wrap.

2. Real tree or artificial?

Artificial. Real trees end up shedding all over the carpet.

3. When do you put up the tree?

Hopefully by Christmas.

4. There is no 4. Only Zuul.

5. Do you like eggnog?

Yes please.

6. Favorite gift received as a child?

Hmmm... When I was about 14 I was snooping in the basement and spotted my gift early: A bandsaw. I was thoroughly disappointed. When Christmas came, I had to pretend I was both surprised and happy. Over the next year or two I became a bandsaw maniac, making all sorts of crazy things with it. It spent a few years with my parents after I moved out and has recently come back and I'm going to use it to make my daughter's Christmas present soon.

7. Hardest person to buy for?

Everyone. I suck at buying gifts for people including myself. Sometimes I get lucky.

8. Easiest person to buy for?

My daughter. She likes all kinds of things.

9. Do you have a Nativity scene?

Yes, I just got a cast brass one as a birthday gift.

10. Mail or email Christmas cards?

Email. I can never remember the current postal rate. I don't mail things much.

11. Worst Christmas gift you ever received?

See #6.

12. Favorite Christmas Movie?

A Christmas Story. Go Ralphie!

13. When do you start shopping for Christmas?

I start keeping my eyes open in January. I keep a gift shelf with both specific and general items that I come across so I'm ready when necessary.

14. Have you ever recycled a Christmas present?

Probably, but nothing leaps to mind.

15. Favorite thing to eat at Christmas?

Mince pies maybe? I like all the normal foods, but I only seem to get mince pies at Christmas time.

16. What decorations are on your tree?

The tree is near collapse with ornaments, lights, and strings of beads.

17. Favorite Christmas song?

Fairytale of New York or those dogs barking Jingle Bells.

18. Travel at Christmas or stay at home?

Staying at home, waking up Christmas morning, hopefully sleeping in.

19. Can you name all of Santa's reindeer?

Yes.

20. Angel on top of tree or star?

Either is fine. The tree looks naked without something on top.

21. Open the presents Christmas Eve or Christmas morning?

Christmas morning, although we used to open one on Christmas Eve.

22. Most annoying thing about this time of the year?

Crowded stores.

23 What theme or color are you using when you decorate?

I'm not organized enough to have a theme.

24. Favorite for Christmas dinner?

25. What do you want for Christmas this year?

Peace on Earth, good will towards me, and night vision goggles.

Over hard or hard boiled or in an omelet (du fromage?) or scrambled
or... If there's a way I DON'T like eggs, it would be Benedict but
only because of the Hollandaise sauce.

The same way I like my women. In a cup, possibly with ice.

> 3. Favorite breakfast food?

Probably pancakes. Evil, carb-ridden pancakes.

> 4. Peanut butter?

Yes please, unless you have almond, cashew, or macadamia nut butter.
The first time I tried cashew butter I wondered why anyone ever eats
peanut butter until I remembered "Oh yeah, I LOVE peanut butter,
especially chunky." I like my peanut butter like I like my woman:
Chunky and stuck to the roof of my mouth.

> 5. What kind of dressing on your salad?

Vinegar is perfectly fine by itself. Balsamic, red wine, raspberry.
Add some feta or parmesan or romano and it's even nicer.

> 6. Coke or Pepsi?

Diet Pepsi then diet coke. For non-diet, Coke and then Pepsi.

Splenda-type if possible (do they make splenda diet pepsi yet?).

> 7. You're feeling lazy. What do you make?

If I have cabbage or lettuce, chuck some dressing on top and that's it.

> 8. You're feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?

What's the special? Used to be a cheap pepperoni from Louie's. If I
pick it up myself and pay cash[0]
I get a discount. There is a new place called "Garlic Jim's" that
has gluten-free ones. I really shouldn't be
eating pizza. Luscious, carb-infested pizza.

Grilled antelope or grilled steak.

Vla if I can get it. I used to eat it as a kid when I lived in Holland.

Mayonnaise.

Dim sum. I first had it with my sexy wife.

Mayonnaise and other -aises.

Hmm... I'm not really sure. I was always a good eater.

I wouldn't eat sweet potatoes or squash as a kid, but love them now.

Not really.

Apples or pears and carrots.

Let's not go there. I'll have to make a midnight run to the grocery store.

I put hot sauce on many things.
I have actually made trips to the grocery store to buy something that
goes with mustard.

Salad, but you can't win friends with it.

Pie.

> 23. How spicy do you order Indian/Thai?

They never make it hot enough even when I ask. I don't think they
believe a pasty white guy like me can eat hot.

Bitter, stout, porter, or Scotch.

Red. White gives me a horrid headache. My wife is the same way.

> 26. Favorite dessert?

Pie.

Single malt scotch.
