Review: Tressemme 24 Hour BODY products

I think I found my new favorite styling products. I've never been a fan of Tressemme products in the past, but these are fairly new and ULTA had them on sale a couple weeks ago. I picked up the Finishing Spray and Weightless Creme. Both impressed me so much over the last couple weeks, I plan on trying out other products from this line. So far, they've stood the test of hot weather, humid weather and rain. The weightless creme smooths away frizzies and flyaways like a dream. I use a very small amount after I blowdry my hair, before using my flat iron. It smells really good, plus it's not heavy so your hair doesn't feel greasy! The finishing spray is equally amazing. It doesn't get stiff and you don't need much to make your style stick. I wouldn't reccommend using this if you're trying to make something stick and not move. This product works great if you wave/curl your hair, but you'd need something a little more heavy-duty if you're doing an updo. Mist it all over and go... I love it. Pretty sure you will too!

*Makeup Art Cosmetics- I was so disappointed with this collection. I was really excited by all the promo pics, but when I saw it in person I was majorly bummed. The only things I left with were Push the Edge and Heritage Rouge pigments. Everything else just didn't impress me.

One of the gurus I follow (Elle aka AllThatGlitters21- Follow her if you don't already!!) does and 'Ins and Outs' on her blog and it's always interesting to see what people are loving and what they're just over. So I figured it would be fun!

HOT:

- I'm loving nude lips with smokey eyes. It's classic and can go from work to play!
- Coach handbags. I swear it's going to break me, but they've had the most gorgeous bags lately.
- A Rose Romance lipstick from MAC. It's soft, pretty and goes with a lot of different looks.
- Summer! It's my favorite season... Living in Seattle, you enjoy every bit of warm sunny weather you can get!
- Big sunglasses. I'll never get sick of them. They look good on EVERYONE!
- Chipotle burritos are currently my favorite lunch item. The calories are worth it.
- Twitter is addicting. I love it.

IN BETWEEN:
- Skinny jeans. They're not for everyone and should only be made in certain sizes. I'm hoping the trend passes quick.
- Suitcase sized handbags are a little rediculous. Do you really need a bag that large for everyday use? They look especially silly on tiny women.

NOT:
- Lady Gaga... Enough Said.
- Myspace. Facebook is the new cool kid in town.
- Driving on the Eastside. It's horrible. People out here don't know how to drive (or use a turn signal) to save their life.
- Mixing prints. Wearing floral with stripes or plaid with polka dots is not cute. It makes one look as if they got dressed in the dark.
- Too much shimmer! A little shimmer goes a long way. A touch on your cheeks, a subtle shimmery shadow. Shimmer/glitter overload is for teeny boppers going to a Jonas Brothers concert.

Depotting your MAC shadows

Before I entered the wonderful world of MAC pro palettes and pro pan shadows, all I ever bought were the regular shadows in the pots. After getting my palettes, I wanted to depot my regular shadows so I could stick them in my palettes. Mostly because palettes are easier to store and take up less room since they're flat. Depotting is fairly easy, and if you are careful and do it correctly, you won't break any of your shadows! I managed to only injure one... A little piece cracked and fell out but that's it. All the rest survived unharmed!

Tools you'll need: Xacto knife, tweezers, wide-plate hair straightener, small adhesive magnets, and a washcloth.

Heat up your hair straightener and make sure it's on a flat, sturdy surface like a countertop. Put the washcloth over the plate before you stick anything on it or the plastic will melt. Use your tweezers to pop the top piece of the pot off it's base and set it on the straightener (make sure the washcloth!) and let it sit for about 1-2 minutes to let the glue soften. Using your xacto knife, wiggle it GENTTLY! between the edge of the pan and the plastic. If the pan isn't coming up easily, don't force it- Put it back on the heat for another minute. Once the glue is soft enough, the pan should come out without force using the knife. The metal pan will be hot so be careful! The glue will be very sticky so that's the best time to stick the magnet on the back. If you want the label of the bottom of the pot, place it on the heat for 30 seconds. It should peel off easily and stick it on the bottom of the pan, over the magnent to cover the sticky parts. Once the pan has cooled, it's all ready to stick in your empty x4 or x15 MAC palette! Just remember to be extremely careful when using the knife and when handling the hot pans! Don't cut or burn yourself!

REVIEW: ULTA Daily 'Glow' Moisturizers

ULTA Body Glow daily moisturizer is a great buy! It has a light, pleasant scent and works as a gradual self tanner. I used it everyday for 5 days and ended up with a nice, subtle glow that wasn't orange. I use it a few times a week now and the color is easily maintained that way. It's partner in crime, Face Glow daily moisturizer is just as good. I use it every other day to maintain the color, and use it over my night cream. They each sell at UTLA stores and ULTA.com for $6.95 and they're a steal at that price! I'm still partial to the Bare Bronze line from Victoria Secret but if you can't afford to spend that much, the ULTA 'Glow' daily moisturizers are a great alternative.

LOOK: Hello Kitty 'Too Dolly' palette

I know the Hello Kitty collection is a thing of the past, but I had a dear friend request a look/tutorial for the collection so this is for her!

Step 1: Prime your lid with a primer such as Primer Potion or Shadow Insurance, or a MAC Paint Pot in a nude color like Painterly or Bare Study. Be sure to blend it well up to the browbone.

Step 2: Using a shader brush (MAC 239 or an equivelant) and apply 'Paradisco' all over the lid and right under the lower lash line.

Step 3: Use a crease/blending brush (MAC 217, 222, 224 or an equivelant) and apply 'Romping' to the crease, blending upwards just slightly.

Step 4: Apply 'Yogurt' to the inner corner of your eye and blend slightly into the lower lash line and just barely onto the lid. You can also sweep some on your browbone as a highlight.

Step 5: Apply a white or navy liner to the upper lash line, then apply 'Too Dolly' with a liner brush over the liner. Then use a black liner on your lower waterline/lashline for defenition.

Step 5: Apply black mascara such as MAC Plushlash in Plushblack.

The finished eye should look something like this:

REVIEW: ELF Cosmetics

I caught the buzz about ELF Cosmetics (Eyes Lips Face) and decided to try them out for myself, so I put in an order. Almost everything on their website is $1 or $3, with the exception of a few items. I ordered some of their makeup, as well as a few of their brushes. I wasn't expecting much, because everything is so cheap. I got my stuff 5 business days after I put in the order, so shipping was pretty quick considering it ships from West Virginia. Anyway, I recommend the brushes from the Studio line. The brushes are $3 each and I was really surprised that they are actually well-made and super soft. I got the flat-top powder brush and the angled liner brush. They are made of the synthetic Taklon bristles. My only gripe about them is they have a funky smell when you take them out of the package, but it goes away after you wash them. As far as washing them goes, they wash nicely and don't shed. For a full review of the products I got, check out the video on my YouTube channel!

REVIEW: Tigi Beadhead Dual-Barrel waver

I purchased this waver at Ulta a few weeks ago and overall I'm pretty pleased with the quality and results I've gotten when using it. It's made really well and it's super easy to use. My only gripes are that it's not super fast to heat up, and I think a third barrel would have been nice. Other than that, I think it's an awesome product and I'm definately going to try other Tigi hair styling tools! One thing is for sure, winter sure takes a toll on you skin! Since it's always hiding under pants and long sleeves, you don't really think about it. Then when you get to days of warm weather when you're breaking out your skirts and short sleeves, you encounter dry, less than glowing skin. Here I'm going to talk exfoliators, moisturizers and self-tanners. Over the years I've tried many and I have a few favorites I want to share with everyone!

First off is exfoliators. Great skin starts with a great exfoliator! They slough off all the dry, dead stuff that makes your skin dull. It also paves the way for a smooth application of a self-tanning product, and makes it easier for your skin to absorb moisturizer! My personal favorite has to be Naturally Victoria Secret grapefruit, lime & mint energizing body polish ($18). It does the job without being harsh on your skin. Not to mention is smells rediculously good! I have also taken a liking to Bath and Body Works Sugared Blood Orange juicy body scrub ($22). The Juicy Body Scrubs come in a wide range of scents to suit everyone's preference. It's a little more heavy-duty than other exfoliators, but it's not so abrasive that it hurts! I recommend using an exfoliator/body scrub 2x times a week for about a month, then just once a week to maintain.

A good mositurizer is key to keeping your skin soft! You use moisturizer on your face, so why would you neglect your body? The best time to apply is right after you get out of the shower or bath when your sking is still warm and damp. There are so many great moisturizers out there, it was hard for me to pick favorites. My current favorite is the Bath and Body Works Signature Collection body butters ($15). It comes in a ton of scents and a little goes a long way, so it will last you quite awhile. It's smooth and creamy, but doesn't leave your skin with that greasy feeling. I HATE anything that makes my skin feel greasy, so I would never recommend a product I wasn't absolutely in love with.

Self tanners have such a horrible reputation. Yes, most self-tanners smell disgusting and leave you a lovely shade of orange. But there are self tanning products out there that will change your thinking about them! A fellow blogger and YouTube guru Tiffany D just did an AWESOME review of self-tanning products and I will put a link to her blog at the bottom. I 100% trust her reviews and opinions, so check her out! I personally love Victoria Secret Bare Bronze Gradual Tan firming body moisturizer ($18) and Bare Bronze Self Tanning body spray ($18). They smell SO GOOD and don't make my skin look orange or streaky.

Review: Grand Duos and Sugar Sweet by MAC

Yes, I've been neglecting my blog! I've been super busy lately, but I promise I'll keep up with it from now on! With that out of the way, let's move on to the good stuff! My review of my favorite products from the two most recent MAC collections, Grand Duos and SugarSweet!

I picked up 3 of the Grand Duos blushes and just love each of them. They are the mineralized blushes and go on really nicely. Light Over Dark makes for a really pretty bronzer. One side is a bronze shimmer, and the other side is marbled with bronze, gold and copper. Love Rock is REALLY gorgeous. One side is a lighter pink, and the other is marbled with pink and gold. My favorite is Intenso. Half is solid mauve, and half is marbled with pink, gold, and bronze. So gorgeous! The brush MAC promoted with the collection is the 188, but I really prefer my 109 or 138 brushes. They make for better application in my opinion. You can apply the colors seperately, or swirl them together nd apply them as one color. Either way, I'm really happy with the product!

SugarSweet is a collection I was really excited about. I picked up quite a few items, so I'll just go over my favorites. I picked up the Red Velvet and Cakeshop shadesticks... LOVE them. The colors are gorgeous and they work nicely under pigments! I got the Mineralized Skin Finish in Perfect Topping and it makes a great all over highlighter. I use the 188 and lightly swirl it over my blush. It makes you face look fresh and bright. Also, I got the Dear Cupcake eyeshadow and Saint Germain lipstick. LOVE both of them. Very pretty pink colors!

MAC brush must-haves!

I know MAC brushes are pricey, but I believe everyone should splurge and buy at least one or two for themselves. They are excellent quality and super soft, so why not treat yourself? C'mon now, you deserve it! I have compiled a list of the top three I think everyone should own. Also, I'm going to link you to two videos at the bottom that are all about brushes. They're from a YouTube Guru, MakeupByTiffanyD. Not only is she is absolutely brilliant and super talented, but a total sweetheart! Make sure you check out all her videos. She's also here on Blogger!

Anyway, on to the topic at hand... My top 3 MAC brush must-haves!

MAC brush must-have #1: The 217 Blending Brush. It has so many uses! You can use it to apply color to your crease, blending out harsh lines, applying cream bases... So it's absolutely a great investment!

MAC brush must-have #2: The 239 Eye Shader brush. This is another really versatile brush. I love it to apply pigments, eye shadows and cream bases all over the lid. It lets you apply as little or as much color as you like. The brush is dense, but still really soft. I use this brush the most out of all my eye brushes!

MAC brush must-have #3: The 187 Duo Fibre brush. It comes with a steep price tag, but it's SO WORTH IT! You can use it to apply foundation, blushes, beauty powder... Really anything for the face! It applys liquid foundations smoothly and evenly with no streaking. Using it with blushes or beauty powder, you get a soft wash of color.

That's it! Those are the 3 brushes I don't think I could live without!

John Frieda Root Awakening products!

I really think I found my new favorite shampoo and conditioner! I used to switch between John Frieda 'Luxurious Volume' and Matrix 'Color Smart' collections. So far, I'm almost convinced I'm going to replace Luxurious Volume S&C with Root Awakening! The shampoos and conditioners come in 3 formulas: Health Infusing, Nourishing Moisture and Strength Restoring. Then, there's a Health Boosting detangling spray.

I have long-ish, really thick, color-treated hair. I decided to use the Health Infusing shampoo with the Strength Restoring conditioner. The shampoo is amazing and leaves my hair feeling REALLY clean; And the conditioner makes my hair feel really soft, but not greasy and heavy, which is really important to me because I do have such thick hair. It's hard for me to find a conditioner that doesn't make my hair feel gross. The detangling spray... Oh my lord the wonderful detangling spray! It works wonders in my hair. Not only is my hair long and think, but also tangles and knots like you wouldn't believe. Today is day 7 of the trial period, if you will. I am so, so happy with the 3 that I've tried. I recommend going out and getting the shampoo and conditioner combo that will best suit your hair, and get the detangling spray.

Well, I took my first trip there on Saturday, and left pretty disappointed. My biggest problem was the sales staff. The two girls working were just rude. They acted like I was bothering them when I asked them questions. So, right there made me really irritated. Second, the stuff they had was pretty picked over and I only left with 2 things. Both were eye shadows, one in 'Expensive Pink' and the other is 'Grand Entrance'.

I'm really hoping next time I go, my experiance in better because this first trip left a pretty bad taste in my mouth.

Part Two Add-On

So I realized I forgot to go over two of the things in the group picture.

One is MAC Plushlash mascara in Plushblack. I usually swear by Christian Dior's DiorShow mascara, but I am glad I switched to Plushlash. The formula is similar to DiorShow, but it doesn't flake or feel heavy. It's got a big chunky applicator brush that holds just enough product to make application even. And at $12, it's half the cost of DiorShow's $24!

The other is Victoria Secret 'Very Sexy' lip gloss pen in Mischief. It's a sheer pink shimmer, and it's not sticky! I hate sticky lip glosses, and I can wear this one all day with out wanting to wipe it off. These are $12, but I got mine on sale for $7.50 at the Bellevue Square store. I think it's a discontinued color though.

Beauty Haul, Part Two!

So here is part two, as promised! This is where all the fun stuff is... The makeup haul! Some of these things I've used before, so I can review them honestly. Others I am trying for the first time, so I can give my first impressions of them! So read on and enjoy! Links will be at the bottom! Thanks for reading!

*I have used bareMinerals foundation in the past, so I got another container of it. It's coverage is AMAZING. I usually swear by MAC StudioFix powder because of the full coverage it provides, but bareMinerals is right up there. Both in coverage and quality. I use the color NC35 with MAC, and bM's 'Medium Tan' is the closest. Use a kabuki brush for the best application results. Now, the bM face powder I'm just trying for the first time. The color I chose is 'Warm Radiance' and it's a pretty bronze shimmer. I use a tapered blush brush to apply it. Keep in mind, a little bit of these products go a long way. It will last you a long time! With the foundation powder, you can build up to the coverage you want. I can cover the freckles on my nose, yet it is so lightweight it doesn't feel heavy. Also, it doesn't look caked on!

*This little Kabuki brush came from Avon. I was skeptical at first, because I believe you get what you pay for. This brush is only $4.99 so I was shocked by the fact that it is not only super-soft, but it's also made well and it's dense enough to provide good coverage when I use it with the bM foundation powder. I have the MAC 182 brush and I have to honestly say the Avon brush can hold it's own compared to the MAC. The MAC 182 is $45, so if you can't afford that, get the Avon Kabuki for $5!

*I cannot say enough about this eyeshadow base! This is Too Faced Shadow Insurance. It prevents your shadow from fading, wearing off or creasing. It provides a great base for applying shadows! The tube is $17, but I use it every day and a tube last me about 3-4 months. All you need is a tiny dab (about the size of a sunflower kernel) for each eyelid. Pat it all over the lid and up to your browbone until it's absorbed. This will make your shadow not only stick better, but it will also make the colors pop! I was previously using Urban Decan Primer Potion, but in my opinion this base works better!

*MAC Paint Pots are one of my top makeup bag must-haves. They are so versatile, they're worth every penny of the $16.50! If you only buy one, get 'Bare Study' because it is a neutral shimmer that can be used many different ways. You can use it under any color shadow to make it more vibrant, you can use it alone as your eye color and you can blend it on the apples of your cheeks for some shimmer! I got my first one almost a year ago, used it 3 or 4 times a week and just recently had to buy a new one! I just picked up Fresco Rose, and the picture just doesn't do it justice. It's such a beautiful pink! I'm excited to experiment with it! To apply these, you can use your finger to blend a small amount on, but I prefer to use my MAC 242 brush. The 242 is $23, so if you don't want to spend that much, go to the drug store and get a concealer brush. Since those are made for creams, they work well to apply this product.

*MAC Pigment powders are the BEST EVER. I love using these because since they are pure color pigment, you hardly need any on your brush to achieve a bold color. I own many, many shades! I picked up these 3, one of which just came out with the MAC Hello Kitty line. Vanilla and Fuschia are part of MAC's full line. As with the paint pot swatches, the pictures just do not show the true vibrancy of the colors. Vanilla is a pretty white with gold pearl shimmer, perfect for using as a highlight on the browbone. Fuschia is an amazing bright pink shimmer! Now, I am LOVING the Deep Blue-Green pigment. It's brand new and came out with the Hello Kitty line. It's absolutely GORGEOUS! I can tell I'll be able to use it a lot for many different things! MAC Pigments are $19.50, but worth it. I use my MAC 239 brush to apply pigments, because they provide a good application and pick up the pigment really well. The 239 is $24.50 so a more affordable alternative is Sonia Kashuk small eyeshadow brush. It's $9.99 and you can get it at Target.

*This is the Sheer Mineral eyeshadow single. I only got one color to see how I liked the product before I committed to getting more! I chose Pink Sapphire, which is a pretty pinky-peach shimmer. The color goes on sheer, but you don't need a lot to build it into a brighter color. I used the same brush to apply this that I use to apply my MAC pigments. I will get a couple more of these in the other colors because it turns out really pretty!

*I got this because I like to use black gel liner as a base when I do a smokey eye. It makes the black really pop and it gives a deeper smolder to the colors. I was using my MAC Fluidline liner, but it's $15 so I didn't really want to waste it. This is the Satin Gel liner in Black Pearl and it makes a really pretty cream base to build your smokey eye on! The black is really nice, and it has a gold shimmer to it! Best part? It's only $7!

I know I talked a lot about different brushes, so I will do an 'All About Brushes' and give you examples of affordable alternatives to my favorite MAC brushes. Also what each brush works best for! Beauty Haul, Part One

I'm pretty sure I went overboard this week, but what the heck. I'm splitting my haul into two parts. Part one will be beauty products and perfume, part two will be makeup. Avon's Hydrofirming Lifting Day Cream w/ SPF15: I use this every morning before I put on my makeup. It keeps my skin smooth and really soft. I have combination skin, and I've never had any problems with breakouts using it.

Avon's Dramatic Firming Cream: This one I use on my neck and throat each night. It's very creamy, and absorbs quickly. It keeps your skin firm and smooth.

Avon's Banishing Cream: This product is AMAZING. I love it! I use it nightly on my face. I've noticed a change in the overall tone and appearance of my skin. I highly recommend it!

Avon's Advanced Eye Perfector: Again, another amazing product. I apply this every night to my lids and under eye areas. I've noticed the skin around my eye area become firmer and brighter. It's a very light gel, and a little goes a long way! It absorbs quickly, too!

Victoria Secret Sexy Little Things 'Oh La La' perfume: This perfume is to DIE for! It smells absolutely amazing. It has a very soft scent, so it's not overwhelming. Not to mention, it comes in the prettiest bottle!
