The origin of the "Cinemassacre" YouTube channel

The Cinemassacre YouTube channel was created on April 6th, 2006. It was created by Mike Matei, and the channel was originally called "JamesNintendoNerd".

James Rolfe, aka "The AVGN".

Mike created the channel so that he and James (Rolfe) could upload the Angry Video Game Nerd episodes onto it. Back then, the AVGN series was called "The Angry Nintendo Nerd".

The later years

They later renamed the channel to "Cinemassacre", and James also began uploading his short films onto it, as well as other content like the "Board James" series.

When you wake up in the morning, you're so tired that you have to make your cup when you're half awake. That kind of sucks. So I started setting up my coffee machine the night before, so that I can just hit the switch when I wake up in the morning! I highly recommend doing that. Makes life so much easier. My upstairs neighbors are so loud (rant)

Having my upstairs neighbors above me is honestly a nightmare; they're just very loud. They're the noisiest people I've ever seen in my life. It's a family with 2 kids and 2 big pit bulls. It's a complete nightmare. And right before they moved in up there, the floors were changed from carpet to wood.

Loud noises? Nope.

The walls seem thin

So I can hear almost everything. And it's really stressful to go through. And some nights, they are noisy all the way up until like 10 at night. The kids are the worst. They just jump all around and stomp on the floors. It sounds like they're having a circus up there. The only peace I get is when they're asleep, or in the daytime when the kids are at school.

Let's all be quiet.

My neighbors are not as loud on weekdays

But the weekends are a nightmare, because the kids are home and they just get so crazy on Friday and Saturday nights.

I tried banging on the wall last night, and they quieted down. But tonight, they've been super noisy again. Help me!

Soda, tea, or coffee? (which is my favorite?)

Which do I like better? Soda, tea, or coffee? Well, that's a very hard thing to answer. I can't really just pick one. I love them all in different ways. They are my 3 favorite drinks, after all. Every day I have all 3 of them.

Isn't caffeine amazing?

I love having coffee right when I wake up in the morning. Then I transition to soda and tea. I usually drink diet soda and iced tea with no calorie sweetener. I used to drink a lot of sweet tea with sugar, but it was too sweet for me.

What about diet soda?

Same with diet soda, I usually drink it because it's not as sweet. Regular soda seems to be too sweet for me, usually.

Enjoying a soda is always nice.

All caffeine is great

I love all these drinks, though; they're part of my daily ritual. I can't imagine my life without them. It really is hard to just pick one as a favorite. So until then, I'll just keep drinking them all. Here's to staying highly caffeinated!

Dealing with a lot of stress right now

I'm super stressed out right now. It's ok, I'll get through it, like I always do. I just hate feeling stressed out and overwhelmed. Life is just stressful. I wish things could be easy. I have someone in my life with whom I'm not getting along too well.

Stress is really hard to deal with.

I just hate having so much to deal with. I want life to be easy. I need to find better ways to deal with it. That would be amazing if I could figure it out.

Life should be good, not stressful

I just want to relax and enjoy life. I feel like that's not too much to ask. We all deserve to have a calm, easy life. Life shouldn't be stressful all the time. But sometimes things happen, one after the other, and it just stresses us out.

That's kind of just the way life is sometimes.

I've been super stressed out. Just trying to deal with it in healthy ways, but it's hard sometimes. I work too much, and I sometimes forget how to pace myself.

Getting stress under control is healthy.

I need to remember to take more breaks. Working all the time isn't healthy. And too much stress isn't healthy.

I'm trying to practice more self-care and limit things that stress me out. It's going ok so far, I'm making progress slowly.

Just realized I'm neurodivergent (and that's ok)

I had heard the term "neurodivergent" before, but I didn't know exactly what it meant. Now I realize, I definitely am. I always knew I felt different in some ways, and after reading about what this term actually means, I realized it fits me perfectly. There are many forms of being this way, including being on the autism spectrum, ADHD, and having bipolar disorder.

Is there a stigma around being neurodivergent?

I'm not really sure, but there shouldn't be. We are all different, and we should embrace that and be proud of who we are. This type of thing is pretty common now, so it's not really frowned upon as much as it used to be.

I'm glad I did more research and learned more about this.

Why do some people troll? I wonder what they get out of it. Maybe they're just looking for attention. I think that's why they do it.

I think a hilarious joke/prank idea would be to go into a convenience store to buy a soda. When you're checking out (assuming there is a line of people), hold your finger up and instantly go into an old man voice and say:

I think that would probably get a good laugh from the people standing around. I love thinking of random jokes and funny things like this. Happens all the time. Oh, and I really love drinking soda, by the way. It is such an amazing drink.

Here's why I love retro gaming. Or as some people like to call it, "old school gaming". It has a certain charm to it. There's just something about the 8-bit graphics, music, and all of that.

I love settling in and playing a good NES, Genesis, or Atari game. I love all retro games; it doesn't matter which console they're from. 8-bit graphics are my favorite, but I also love Atari, 16-bit consoles, and so on.

I love new gaming too, but retro is my favorite. There are a lot of people who agree with me. The NES is definitely my favorite console, hands down. Classic gaming for the win. Remember playing Nintendo games back in the 80s?

The NES (Nintendo Entertainment System) was a really amazing video game console and blew people away at the time it was released. It was first released as the FAMICOM in Japan. In June 1985, Nintendo unveiled the American version of the FAMICOM, which was to be called the NES.

There were 17 games that were launched with the console.

Here are the technical specifications of the NES:

An 8-bit CPU [Ricoh 2A03 8-bit processor with MOS Technology 6502 core at 1.79 MHz (NTSC) / 1.66 MHz (PAL)]

I love speedrunning. I got into it earlier this year (2024). I just wanted to see if I could do it. It was kind of like a challenge to myself.

I was just kind of messing around at first. And then I beat my first couple of games, and I was hooked. Then I started taking it seriously. And started really loving it a lot more than I thought I would! I didn't know what to expect, to be honest. I just figured I'd give it a go and see what happens.

Merry Christmas, guys...it's that time of year again, November. I technically start celebrating Christmas on November 1st most years. Jolly St. Nick will be coming to visit soon. That's right, Santa Claus will be coming from the North Pole straight to our chimneys.

So as soon as Halloween is over, I get into the Christmas spirit and put up my Christmas decorations the very next day.

Mike Matei is a very funny guy. You know what I mean? He's just hilarious. I watch his streams, and I just laugh at some of the jokes he makes. He really is a funny character. I suggest you watch his streams if you don't know what I'm talking about. Mike started out on the Cinemassacre YouTube channel, and now he streams on Twitch. He also played many characters in AVGN episodes, alongside James Rolfe.
