Goodbye!

I had done some random thinking this lately about the word "Goodbye". A friend told me that he will never said goodbye, because it's a word that you said to someone that you will never meet again. He said, true friends never say goodbye.

Well, I agree with what he said is true. We will never find any "good" in goodbye, unless it's like - Goodbye Class! or Goodbye Boss! then that's something good about Goodbye! A goodbye is not painful unless you're never get to say hello again. There are always some people we'll never get to say hello again.

We will never know what happens next and suddenly "Boom" I disappear.... That's why I insist to say "goodbye" so at least I get to say the last goodbye. But oh well, if that goodbye is forever then prolly it should be a badbye, isn't it?

So, to me... Goodbye is not the end, it simply means that I'll miss you till we meet again :)

Going to West Malaysia - Day 2 (14th Apr 2012) Part2

So, finally we get to meet Wilson. He looks exactly just like in FB. A very shy guy with a very smiley face. Wilson is the one who plan for our going and whereabouts in Penang. Penang is another state in Malaysia and it is also known as the Pearl of Orient.

Then we took the ferry to the Penang island. There we met Jerry from Kedah and Charles from Alor Star too. I always chat with Jerry and we read each others blog sometime for almost one year. And I know Charles from FB group chat too who is a good friend of Jerry. Finally, I met these three person in real.

The guys brought us to tried the most famous Penang Fried Kway Teow.

Ermmmm... The boss mean business... and in case u wanna know, there is NO wifi. So even if you just want to sit only, you still have to pay :P

Tada~ !!!!

The Famous Penang fried Kway Teow as recommended by many website. I was very shock with the size of the dish -_-" What a small portion. I think I can wallop it with 4 spoonful.... But then since there were many guys around so I better act lady like =P After that the boss said the total was RM47.50. I almost choke myself. I look at Wilson and ask if the boss is kidding? Wilson say no, it is RM9.50 per plate. I said: " Why SO expensive?" Then Jarrey replied: " Maybe because of the prawn..." -_-" I stil think this is too expensive and not really worth it. But then Wilson treat us the Penang fried Kway Teow. I will always remember this so that when he come to Brunei I will treat him Brunei Fried Mee, fry by me... hie hie hie..

In Penang, there is a lot of houses build on the hills. And I wonder what is the feeling of living up so high. And Jarrey told me that all the houses and apartment are very expensive, mostly are over One Million... tsk tsk tsk....

On our way to our hotel we saw a classic wedding car and a newly wed couple.

Congratulation!!!!

We stay at the Continental Hotel as suggested by Wilson. The hotel is very neat and closed to some night market. The room is better than KL's although no window also. But overall I still can accept it.

Then we went to Penang National Park.

After that we go to Hard Rock Hotel in Penang.

I bet everyone know who is this.... Unless you are born in the 20s

RM10 just to sit on the horse... And the owner of the horse was very not satisfy about it because we did not take it for a ride which cost .... I don't remember already...

Then we went to Penang Night Market. It was a very clean and friendly night market. Unlike the Petaling street, you will never get scold and white eyes at the Penang night market.

And another thing I like about Penang's night market is that I can find a variety of souvenir very cheaply.

After that since we were still not hungry we went to the famous Straight Quay in Penang.

Straight Quay reminds me a little like Clarke Quay in Singapore 10 years ago. Of course now there is a totally big difference between Straight Quay and Clarke Quay. The thing I like about Straight Quay is that it is not so crowded and noisy. Maybe that time it was not a peak season.

After that it was kid of late, so we return to our hotel and look for Food!!!! Beside our hotel, there is one Food paradise - Red Garden.

A lot of people eating there.

And another reason why it is a paradise... Pretty sexy singers and dancers.

A lot of variety food.

Maybe because I was too tired, I really have no mood to taste anything, The guys and Connie order some food for us to taste too. I order some "China Satay" made of pork, beef and mutton. Since, I tried this in Shanghai before, so I am not surprise with the taste. Not too good and not too bad. Just ok.

Charles had the belacan fried rice. I like this ^^, Tasted good.

Oyster omelette. Not my kind of dish, although I like oyster but I still prefer it to be salty and spicy.

I really don't know what is this, some pork skin, I think. But I like the tatse of it ^^,

After a long long day, I still don't want to go to sleep because I believe that the night is still young. How could I miss the opportunity to enjoy the night life of Penang. Just on the other side of the hotel there is a lot of pubs and clubs. Since some "old people" ( Wilson and Connie ) were tired, Jerrey, Charles and I continue to had some beers. I realize that Penang girls who go to the night club are more pretty than the girls in the night club of KL. Maybe because the way they dress.... ( I hope I did Not offence to KL girls... )

After a few drinks, the waitress say we can have free KaraOk -ing inside the pub. Charles was thrilled and hurry in. No wonder the waitress is so kind to let us know that there is free KaraOk -ing... because it was almost empty. Well, at least Charles and I had fun singing and Jerrey had fun listening since he said the only song he knows how to sing is " NEGARAKU"

There is nothing like a nice refreshing beer, followed by another nice refreshing beer, and 6 more after that....

Now I understand why they said : Peaces makes the world go around. Alcohol makes it spin like Fu*k!

Back to hotel at 2am, sleep like a log and with a smile on my face =)

Going to West Malaysia - Day 2 (14th Apr 2012) Part 1

The hotel we stay in Kuala Lumpur was Sg. Wang Hotel. From the look of the picture in the internet it is very nice and cheap which cost us about RM118 nett per night. When I saw the room they gave us, I was so shock : - No Window?! It seems like a cabinet with a bathroom more than like a hotel room -_-" Oh well, what can I expect? It is really cheap.

The 1st day I had so much fun meeting all those net friends around Malaysia, then we had some drinking session and we went back to the Sg Wang hotel at about 5am. Since it was very late, we let Caith squeeze in the room aka cabinet with us. I can't sleep because I felt like sleeping in the closet and after that I need to wake up at 7am and get ready to Pudu Sentral and take our bus to Penang. So I just let my eyes rest for a while and when I open my eyes again it is about 6am. Time to get ready and about 7am, Andrew gave me a call and he said that he will be ready to pick us up for breakfast and sent us to the Pudu Sentral.

We had book our bus tickets one week before the exact date but our net friend Wilson from Penang keep remind us to go to the bus station to double check and make sure again that our tickets are confirm. -_-" Not only that but before we go to KL, we received a lot of warning from our other Malaysia friends. They will keep nagging:

" Be careful of your bag. Please do not bring those branded and big bags"

" Be careful of the Taxi driver, make sure they use meters. "

" Please do not wear short pants in Penang."

Bla bla bla....

Then I reply to them : " You all make me appreciate more of my country - Brunei."

Since it was still early, after we took our bus tickets, Andrew brought us to had some breakfast. Andrew is a really weird guy.

He wears a pair of over size crocs.

1/3 of Andrew's car's wind shield are covered with weird stickers. -_-" He even had a McD sticker, I wonder will McD give him special discount for that?

Since Andrew joined our drinking session that night too and he went home the same time like we do, he told me that he did not sleep and apparently he wait for 7am so that he could pick us up.... Oh! What a nice "weird" guy!

After we took our bus tickets at the Pudu Sentral and since it is still early we went for a breakfast. ( Sorry, I am not sure the exact location. ) The best chee cheong feng that I had ever tried.

This one is with some fish balls, fish cakes and dried bean curb skin.

After the breakfast, we wave goodbye to Andrew and Caith followed us to the bus station as she need to take the bus to go back to her home town. Finally when we reach our platform, Caith gave us a big hugs and a kiss on our cheeks. Even thought is was so hard to say the word "goodbye", but we knew that there is something waiting at the other side of Goodbye - the memories of friends like Fenny, Caith, Jelly, Andrew, John and Vijay that will always keep me smiling =)

Then in Penang we will be meeting another four new net friends, Wilson, Jerry, Charles and Thad. Jerry and Thad are readers from my blog while I know Wilson and Charles thru Jerry and Facebook.

Pudu Sentral is a bus station and I heard that it was newly renovate and very clean.

So we took a 5hrs trip from KL to Penang using Sri Maju Bus. The seats of the bus is very comfortable and much more better than Air asia's seaters. Best of all there is only 8 passengers.

When we almost reach Penang, Wilson keep on sms me and estimate the time we arrive Butterworth Bus station. When Connie and I reached there we were so surprise that we were being drop off by some unknown old street.

Then I ask the bus driver, where is the bus station and he said it's at the back of the shop. When I went there it is just an empty field. -_-". So I called Wilson and I told him that we were " abandoned" some place called Bukit Mentajam in Penang. While we were waiting for Wilson I saw this mamak stall cooking some very strange dish.

I ask him what is that and he mumble some sweet sugar plus coconut. He make it like a Pau at first then make it flat and fried it like Roti Canai. After about a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG 30 minute, finally, Wilson came.

Going to West Malaysia - Day 1 (13th Apr 2012)

Since last year Connie and I had already bought the cheapest air ticket flying from Brunei to West Malaysia - Kuala Lumpur and we had been started to plan where to go in Malaysia. Then we decided to go to Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Cameron Highland. Two weeks before we fly, we tried to contact all our net friends in Malaysia and hope that we can meet up and had some small gathering.

So that day we reached the Brunei International airport very early and we manage to have a look around the departure hall. I was very surprise because it had change a lot compare to my last visit, about 20 yrs ago? ( Before that I usually flew from Miri, Sarawak ) . It is very big inside and there is some cafe and souvenir shop too. Best of all there is a tourist centre.

But now to think of it, since this is located inside the departure hall and the tourists are prepare to fly, so what info will they want to get at this centre? Hm... I wonder....

Then I saw this air plane - Royal Brunei Airline...

Ahhhhhh... It has been a long time I didn't sit on that plane ever since there is Air asia.... I really miss the comfy seat.

So after a two hours flight, we reached LCC Terminal at around 11.30am, take our bus to KL Centre and meet two frens there. This is my first time meeting Jelly, she is my chatters for almost a year from a social website and FB. Jelly is a very friendly and chatty kind of girl. She and another friend - John who is an old friend of mine accompany us to our hotel using LRT ( KL Monorail) This was my second time taking KL's monorail and I really don't feel comfortable at all because it was very shaky -_-"

So we reach the hotel and met another three friends, Caith, Fenny and Andrew by which these three people Connie and I never met in real before. We only chat in FB for about less than one year and and it is amazing that they agree to meet us.

Fenny brought us to Levain Boulangerine and Patisserie for high tea.

Too bad after the long trip I felt very tired to tried anything. So Fenny and Caith just order some dessert for us to try.

Then Fenny recommend that we should try the Creamy Mushroom soup.

And yes, I had to agree with her that so far this is the creamiest and the most tasty cream of mushroom soup that I had ever taste.

This is my first time meeting Andrew, Caith, Fenny and Jelly. It was surprisingly that day we had so much to talk about and hence this shows a best friend is someone who can be your sister or brother, even from 1445 kilo meters. Ya, maybe being far away does make it difficult to communicate sometime, but when we are together, it just makes every moment special.

Then later we go to Time Square and do some shopping. I was disappointed with the changes of Time Square compare to the last time I went there. It was so messy and so many shops which repeated selling the same thing. But then I still have some fun shopping around.

And Best of all, taking all these pictures for FREE! lol!

Then later we have dinner at Jalan Alor

I saw one of my friend order this - Hot and Spicy Pan Mee,

So I asked my friend : " Nice or not? " The boss quickly replied me : " If Not nice then you no need to pay." Lol! Of cos it is Delicious!!!!!

After dinner we go for some drink session with VJ, another old friend of mine, and then Connie and I return to the hotel at around 5am -___-"

These week is the 1st test of the year for Aple. I am especially concern and strict with her Bahasa Malayu and Jawi. I seldom speak English with my kids because in my opinion my kids should learn how to speak a proper Mandarin because we are Chinese.Thus, for English and Malay they can always learn it in school or with other people.

I remember that last year Aple was having a medical check up at the Rimba clinic ( a government clinic ) and at the same time I want to bring Bryan to see doctor too. Since we are not allow to see the same doctor because Aple had an appointment already and are seeing doctor at the women and babies center I left her and my Mother in law alone and bring Bryan to the other counter to take number. After a few minutes later I saw a nurse scolding my mother in law with Bahasa Malayu: " Ini Aple kah? Kenapa aku panggil kau punya nama kamu tidak mau masuk?" ( Are you Aple? Why you did not enter the room while I called your name?" My Mother in law look at her blankly and nodded her head saying in her broken Malay: " Minta maaf, tidak dengar." ( Sorry, I don't hear) Then I quickly approach to the nurse and apologised with her saying that old people don't understand. The nurse just don't want to stop and turn to my five years old girl and scold again in a very hush ton: " Lain kali kalau saya panggil kau punya nama kau masuk saja, Nenek tidak faham, tau kau?" ( Next time when I call your name you just go in. ) Angrily I reply to the nurse: Why you said like that to her? She is only five years old and she only start to learn her ABC. She reply: " Ahhhh... sudah la!" ( what ever.)

I was so mad and thought that I have heard a lot of rude nurses and this is the first time I met one!!!! After that I want to make sure that Aple learn her Bahasa Malayu very well so that she will not get bully again.

A friend ask me : " Why you don't speak English to your kids? My nephew speak English very well, he even know how to sing like the Musical high school." I was like @____@" !!! We are not a Caucasian, we don have blonde hair and blue eyes. Of course English is good to use for communication but if a Chinese speak English very well no one will be impress, but if a Chinese don't speak Mandarin very well a lot of people will look down on us. Hence, if a Caucasian or other races speak Mandarin very well many will be impress.

When they post in youtube that a Eurasian child speak mandarin alot of people praise and say :that is a clever child. In my mind I thought our Asian children are more smarter because we speak Bahasa Rojak - Malay English, Chinese and some even speak tamil and tagalog or even other dialect.

When I am giving a Chinese tour for the China people a lot of people already laugh at our funny slang but envy that we know a lot of language. And I always tell them that there's is no need to envy because we are only " half bucket of water" - only know every little bits of this and that language.

Human's behaviour is sometime like a dog

1st March, my 5th local tour is to guide the visitors from Germany. They came here with a big cruise ship call Aida.

When I saw the cruise ship in the 1st time I was like ' Wow '. It seems like a big giant shark approaching me. Gulp!!!

I was glad to meet some of the local tour guides who I am very familiar with and of course by which are the 'beginners'. But it is fun to mix with some of the expertise tour guides who have millions of experience with tour guiding and they are very generous to share all their experiences. One of them even tell the stories about how our local Custom Officer treated the tourists in the airport in some countries. Firstly he told us what he seen in Brunei International Airport. A foreigner was having a transit in the airport and she asked the immigration officer if she can go to the money changer just behind the officer's counter to exchange some money and the officer said yes. When she finish changing her money and just want to go back to where she belong another officer came and scold her saying that she is not suppose to go out without a Brunei stamp in her passport. She did explain that another immigration officer give her an approval to go out and that officer just don't accept any of her explanation. There is some argument and it turn out to be a very embarrassing situation for both parties. ( I think) In the end the most embarrassing of all is the Bruneians.The second stories he told us is what he saw that had happen in Singapore where an immigration officer use a very rude and insulting words to an Indian and this Indian man said to him loud and clear: " Do not humiliate me because I am an Indian, I invest a lot of money to your country every year!" After that the officer keep apologised to him.

Before we start giving tour, our Boss will give a briefing and he too share a stories that happen few days ago there is another cruise ship came and the health officers arguing with the officers inside the cruise ship. One want to check the body temperature of the tourists another won't allow them to check. In the end both parties had a very bad day. And worst of all is wasting the time of the tourists inside the ship and the tour guides outside the ship.

In my opinion. I don't see anyone is wrong. Let see this situation in this way: You are going to visit your friend's house. Your friend's dog is barking at you and sometime it might bite you. Your friend is the tourist, the dog is the officer and you are the owner of the country. So who is wrong? No one. It is not that I am insulting the officer is a dog. What I mean is they are just doing their job by trying to protect their countries and hence sometime they are only over do it. We human are all the same. In our own countries, or own home we will speak and talk loudly and hence when we go outside of our home ( or countries) we will speak softly. Just like a dog when it is at it's owner's house it will bark at you fiercely but when it is at other people's house it will not dare to bark so loudly or will even hide itself like an ostrich.

Anyway, I had a great day on that day because my guests of eight people are all happy :)

The Beggar's Bowl.

Yes. The Above picture I post is a beggar's bowl. I found these items at Brunei's Museum. There's a story for these Beggar's Bowl.

Once upon a time, there is an King who met a beggar. He asked the beggar, : " What do you want?"

The beggar laughed and said. " You are asking me as if you can granted all my desire!"

The King felt offended and he said, " Of course I can. What do you want? Tell me and I will fulfil your wish."

The beggar said, " Are you sure? Is this a promise?"

The King insisted, " Yes I promise to fulfil all your desire."

The beggar then said: " Ok, you see this beggar bowl? My simple desire is for you to fill in something."

The King thought he heard wrong and ask again: " That's it?" The beggar nodded his head. So the King called upon his minister to fill the beggar's bowl with coins but no matter how many bags of gold coin the minister pour in the bowl will never be full.

Soon the King ask the minister to pour in more pearls, diamonds and the kingdom's treasures but the beggar's bowl was still empty and seemed to be bottomless.

The King felt defeated and beg the beggar to leave and before the beggar left the King asked out of curiosity, " What is the beggar bowl made of?"

The beggar laughed and said: " It is made up of human's desire - human's mind."

This understanding transforms life.

Look at all our desire. What is the influence of our desire to us? Thrill, excitement and feels great when yiu get something that you want. First a car, then a house, a family, more cars, bigger house then second family ( perhaps) and suddenly all this become meaningless. Why?

This is because the human's mind are playing. When the desire is filled, the car, the house, the miney in the bank, all the excitement will be gone. Thus, the emptiness in our heart will start to eat us up and we will start to look for something else to fill it again. In the end we become our own beggar and from desire we give ourselves frustration.

Hence live in a simple life is the most happy thing. We cannot get all of what we desire but I am sure that God will make sure we get what we deserve.

These few days the most frequent question people ask me is : "Brunei is so bored and not much entertainment, how can Brunei people survive these kind of life style?" I replied: " Brunei people live in a very simple life and most of the people are very happy because they admire more than desire hence they always get what they deserve."

When you get some, you want more. When you get more you desire even more. But when you lose it all, you will realise that "some" is enough....

Happy Chinese New year 2012

I have just finish all my work and this is the first time I celebrate Chinese new year at my own home.Bryan was asleep now because he is too sleepy while Aple is still waiting for her dad to play the fire crackers. Me? I wanna sleep already but still have to wait after 12 midnight because I hope that my parents and my Mother in law will live longer and healthier.

I have been saying about the new change in my life last year.

I am officially a tour guide. So no Happy Chinese New year for me this year because I will start to bring local tour on the 22nd this month until 27th. Now I feel kind of regret because I will miss out all the fun of celebrating the Chinese New year. *sob* But then this year the kids will start their class on the 3rd day of Chinese new year, so no long holidays this year. Plus this year's CNY come too fast. No one is in the mood and don't have the strong feeling like last year. So, like what Crystal said to me : " Think of the $MONEY$ as motivation."

Money, Money, Money.

The land of Bomb

Recently I saw a documentary at Astro about the life in Laos. It is said that in between 1964 and 1973 America waged a secret war and rained down millions of bomb by which a30% of it failed to detonate. And now 38 years later after the end of Vietnam war a lot of Laotians was killed and many are injured by the unexploded ordnance ( UXO). So that is why clear ground de-mining is a must do everyday in Laos. Other than that they also have to give the innocent children in Laos a lecture about the risk of playing with the unexploded bomb.

One morning Bryan play with his breakfast - pandan pau. He said: " Mommy, look! Donut!!!" Then I saw his pau had a hole in the middle. Apparently he use his little finger to poke his pau and he had eaten the fillings. I really don't know if I should laugh or cried so I smile to him and said: " Ok, That's a lovely donut, let's finish it." Then Bryan said: " Mommy, I can't finish it." I said: " Nope, you are gonna to finish it or I'll spank you." After a long while Bryan still holding that "donut" he made so, I gave up and asked him to leave it on the plate and go take a bath. Later that night the donut disappear. Someone had ate it and I am glad that person enjoy Bryan's "donut". =P

This week Aple no need to go to school any more, so Bryan had to go to school alone. He was confused that why he still had to go to school and he hate it so much! The first day of this week I trick him to bring along his friend "Elmo" to school and promise him with ice - cream and shopping later on. Today he still ask me why his sister no need to go to school while he had to. I explain to him again and tell him that his sister had finish K3 already and that is why. I know Bryan really don't like to go to school because he finds it boring but then he still go to school unwillingly with tears on his cheeks. No shouting or throwing tantrum but only tears. My hubby saw this and promised Bryan to bring him watch Happy Feet2 later. Then Bryan smile and ask me happily " Is sister going too?" I said yes. Bryan ask again: " Are grandma and cousins going too?" I said yes. Bryan ask again " Mommy, are you joining us too?" I pretend to frown and teased him : " No, I am not going 'cos no one ask me." Bryan giggle and said: " Noooooo~ You must go!" I laughed, wipe his tear off his face and kiss his cheeks. I am glad that Bryan is finally in a good mood again.

I have try to tell him many times that going school is good and fun for him and I hope that he one day will understand the meaning of going to school and will love it.

I'm going to bring him back from school now and I had a nice surprise waiting for him

Bryan's Advance Birthday in Kindergarten

Recently there's a lot of birthday celebration in the school. One day Bryan said he want to celebrate his birthday too. Since his birthday is in December so we decided to let him celebrate his birthday before the school holiday begins. Bryan requested for a Ben10 cake which is very unusual because we know that he only loves Thomas the Train and Chuggington. We think maybe because Ben10 might be the latest trend now in the school and that is why he will ask for it.

Most of the parents came as early as possible to get a good sitting while some came at the last minute. They also try to get a Good sitting at the "Teacher's Section." And when the scout and the teacher went and invite them to sit somewhere else they refuse to go. I really hate this kind of irresponsible people. What if everyone think the same and all sit at other people's sit?

Who is fatter?

Last nite when I was waiting for my food, and felt bored while waiting I ask my gal Aple a question when a fat lady who past by us.
" Who is fatter? She or me?"
Aple replied: "Her la..."
After that I point at a slimmer lady and ask Aple again: " Who is fatter? She or me?"
Aple blushed and said cheekily :" Her la..."
I giggle and said: " You lied!!!" But inside my heart I was so happy. :P
Then I ask Aple again: " Between you and I, who is fatter."
Aple replied: " Both of us are slim." .
I said: " NO......!!!! You are Fatter!!!"
I laugh out loud and Aple said playfully: " You lied!" and squeeze my hand.
Both of us had a good laugh.

One of the reason why sometimes we look slim and sometimes we look fat is because of the way we dress.

Sometime for the sake of health, we need to control ourselves not to intake so many junkies.

My mother in law always said that my kids' eyes are hungry, not the stomach.

Yes... We should never compare our life to other's and also compare the size of our bodies to other's...

Aple finally graduate

I wonder if she really know the meaning of Time Flies? But I really understand what she mean time flies, Sigh... So fast my gal is going to be Primary one next year. I don't know if she is going to miss her teacher or not but I am sure I will because her class teacher are the nicest teacher I have seen so far.

This Sunday will be her graduation day and the ceremony start at 7.30am. Aple is so used to her afternoon class, I wonder will she be able to wake up so early in the morning & Bryan too... Hahaha!

Recently I was very addicted to the HK TVseries about the History of China and especially I just finish watching the story of Hong Wu 32 (洪武三十二) I really wish that I can watch what is exactly happen to the Empire of Brunei just like the TV series.
