Do YOu Know The Blood Looks Green in underwater?

2017-09-09T05:12:00.001-07:00

In fact, the blood doesn’t change colour at all. What changes is the light in the water.

White light, like the light from our sun, contains all the colours in the spectrum: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. A white piece of paper looks white because all the colours are bouncing off it and reflecting into our eyes. A red thing looks red because red light bounces off it, and all the other colours are absorbed. A black object is black because all the colours are absorbed and no light reflects into our eyes.

Different colours of light also travel at different speeds, and water slows light down. So as you dive down into the water, the first colour to be filtered out by the water is the slowest: red.

That means that at 30 feet or so, there is no red light in the water, so red light can’t bounce off blood into our eyes. Instead, green is reflected by green pigments in the blood that are usually hidden by the reflected red light. If you went even deeper, the blood would change from green to black.

That’s why there are so many red plants, corals, and fish in the ocean. Red is a very easy colour for the body to produce, but in white light, it stands out and is easy to spot by predators. However, 20 feet down into the ocean, there is no more red light in the water and the red fish looks black!

This worm can eat plastic waste25 April 2017Scientists at Cambridge University say a caterpillar who can eat bee hive can also eat plastic. This can be effective treatment of insect pest control. In the experiment it was discovered that this worm breaks the chemical structure of plastic in the same way as it digests the bee hive.Every year, eight million tons of plastic polyethylene are produced around the world. This plastic is used in shopping bags, food packaging industry. But it takes hundreds of years to completely decay them.Risk of 'gas chamber' on Delhi-NCR?Attitude: Ganga can be saved like this? But this worm named Galleria Melonella can penetrate into plastic bags within hours.University of Cambridge's biochemist Dr. Paolo Bombelli is involved in this research. They say, "This caterpillar is a start, we need to understand how they do it. We hope that a technical solution will be provided to reduce the problem of plastic waste."

I was really confused when I heard the term Moss Graffiti. The name sounds simple enough, but really? After looking into it a little more, this may be one of the coolest things I have ever seen. Of course, we would only suggest doing this on your own property, especially because it does take a little bit of maintenance to get it going.

To get started you’ll need:

3 cups of moss (washed clean of soil)

2 cups buttermilk OR 2 cups of yogurt (should be plain yogurt)

2 cups of water or beer

1/2 tsp of sugar

corn syrup (optional)

A blender that you probably won’t want to use other than for this.

Collect about 3 cups of moss. You can sometimes buy this at a nursery but you may be able to find it right in your yard as well.

Once you collect the moss, rinse it as much as possible to get rid of the soil.

Break up the pieces as much as possible and put them in a blender.

Add yogurt OR buttermilk, water OR beer, and sugar. Blend until this is completely smooth and has a paint like consistency

If the mixture is too runny, then add corn syrup. You don’t want this dripping all over, so add corn syrup a little bit at a time.

Pour mixture into a bucket

Use a paintbrush to make the design that you’d like with your moss graffiti

Once you are done with the painting, you’ll want to check on it regularly. If you live in a very dry climate, use a spray bottle to keep the paint moist and to help promote moss growth. You can also paint over the design you did to encourage the moss growth if you do not have a spray bottle available.

Be patient! Depending on your climate, it may take a little while for your moss to grow. Check out some of these great designs below:
