RA.One movie review

2011-11-01T09:30:00.001-07:00

Superstar Shahrukh Khan's latest superhero film Ra.One has created lots of curiosities among the movie-goers of all age groups before its release. The movie surely goes beyond everyone's imagination. Besides raising the bar for Hindi films, the flick also appeals to the universal audience.

Ra.One is an Indian science fiction and Shahrukh Khan's stellar performance is the major attraction of the film. Vishal-Shekhar's music, its digital work of international standards, excellent cinematography, punchy and funny dialogues, beautiful locations and costumes are its other highlights.

The movie might have been made with the international standards, but its soul is pure desi. Director Anubhav Sinha has chosen an interesting storyline and also managed to include several twists. The relationship between an Indian father and son and father's attempt to satisfy his son have been beautifully brought out on screen.

Shekhar [Shahrukh Khan] is a graphics designer, who is simple living and high thinking man. But his son (Armaan Varma) mistakes him to be a cowerdice. He tries every trick to win his love. In a bid to prove his self, Shekhar designs a game. However, all hell breaks loose when the game starts playing them. What happens next will form an interesting part of the story, which should be watched on screen.

Shahrukh has delivered superb performance in both roles like Shekhar and G.One and he emerges as the showman. Kareena Kapoor also impresses the audience with her witty dialgues. Arjun Rampal and Armaan Varma have also done excellent acting, which is equal to SRK's performance. Others are also good in their respective roles.

The works of technical department are absolutely equal to the standards of Hollywood superhero flicks. Vishal-Shekhar's music is the main highlight in the technical front. Their background score is equally electrifying and their compostion of songs like 'Chammak Chhallo', 'Dildaara' and 'Raftarein' have already become rage.

The visual effects of Ra.One are another highlight of the film and the stunning chase, action scenes and the train sequence in the second half are sure to mesmerise the audience. V Manikandan and Nicola Pecorini's camerawork, Andy Gill and Spiro Razatos' stunts, Kanika Dhillon and Niranjan Iyengar's dialogue and Robert Kurtzman's designed superhero costumes are excellent and surely add to the successful run of superhero journey.

Movies like Krrish and Robot had introduced superhero trend to Hindi film industry. Now, Ra.One pushes the envelope further. Meanwhile, the movie has borrowed several aspects from Hollywood movies. Finally, it can be said Shahrukh Khan serves a wonderful feast this Diwali to Indian audience by spending a Rs. 175 crores. It should be watched by everyone.

The perfect world of devkishan

2011-10-26T22:35:00.000-07:00

He runs no NGO, no control has built dams, nor does any community development. Among the little known heroes good news india, it is even less known, unknown, but even close to Mori Road, Mahim, Mumbai. He was 84.
Devkishan Lakhiani is shown here because he is a role model for many of us who say we do something for India soon, if we have enough saved if our children are settled or our careers have stabilized and we have retired or whatever else. Lakhiani-loving, 'Dada' shows for all you can do something right now. He runs a free homeopathy clinic, and until a few years teaching at the nearby school and offered legal assistance to the poor. He has done that 'something' all his life.
He is a man of few words and has no complaints or grouses or advice. He's busy all day. Its a perfect world.
Bomb maker of the student:

Dada had grown up in Karachi in a large family of six boys. His father was a rice processor. He probably went through some random training and worked for the family business.
Then about 25, he was in the company of master Jethanand, who believed in scaring the British from India with bombs. Deeply nationalistic, young Devkishan became his acolyte. It is doubtful whether they were seriously arsonists. "We have no intention to kill anyone, just terrorize," says Dada. With such a fuzzy agenda in mind, the motley group threw a bomb, not on, but in front of a building in British Pinjrapara. Then running in all directions. Dada was not as fleet as the master and so was arrested and put in prison for three and half years.
When he came out, the British were preparing to India, least of all due to any acts of violence they were afraid to leave the Master of Dada. But the family faced Lakhiani where violence in Karachi. An extended family of 20 moved to Mumbai, then Bombay.

In 1967, 25 years old Bindeshwar Pathak missed getting a first class would have landed him a job teaching in a college. He tried as a school teacher, a payroll clerk and even a street by street vendor of bottles of his grandfather's own home-cure mixture.
Deciding to own a master's degree from the University of Sagar, MP, he boarded a train. At Hajipur, an old friend of the family spoke to him in his move and promised him a "good job" instead, in the Gandhi Centenary Committee "Rs.600 per mensum. He got off the train and was led to Patna. The promised job was not quite there no life draw for him, but he believes his lifelong dedication to scavenger liberation through maintenance-free toilets began that day.
Contrasting Grandpa:
Or did it? Maybe it actually started when he was a child and grew up in Vaishali and Sitamarhi. Grandfather Pandit Jaya Nandan Jha was to jail in the cause of freedom of India, even before Gandhi did in India. He was, in fact, Hajipur and Vaishali Gandhi's pilot. Jha was an egalitarian point. The paternal grandfather was the opposite, though.

"The time spent in the Pathak household were puzzling," says Bindeshwar. "Of the many 'rules', which do not affect certain people intrigued me. Grandmother would sprinkle water on the paths that people had walked. And what mumbling, as they did."
One day, as children, young Bindeshwar decided to commit-to touch a woman classified, just to see what happened and all hell broke loose for sure. He was given a ritual bath and managed a nugget of cow manure and cow urine, followed by the water from the Ganges.

Sort of China, India

2011-10-26T22:04:00.000-07:00

This is the summer of 2004, it is time for introspection in India. In recent general elections, the debate has triggered a number of streams. Each stake - holder, a description of the facility.
Now, in the air of a number of things, commented on the financial system is one of the most glibly. The space of three months, the public mood, doubt has gone from sanguinity. India in the 'public mood', one must hasten to explain, only about 100 million, or Indians - not necessarily from the conventional, well-to-do - who's views are given. The poll process, but little of their weightage, they do not actively participate in a poll following the political process. Their facts, logic and open minds - to be happy - there are. They are referring to the value for which India has the effect of the options.
No more fuzz:

India in the 21st century, a different place. Society - hitherto sullen - have seen the change and development in various sectors. Others - even when they are outside of the witnesses, the changes in the loop - there are. India is no longer a Hopeless nation. Thriven sloganeers bleaker times may be charismatic. Indians will deliberate in public life today. There is a large share of the economy and in their minds. It is inside, there are concerns about the lack of access to the contingency, or on welfare. Not despair, the.
Therefore, assessment of the solutions that enfold the people of India and more. This modernization process undertaken over the last decade, reverse, or slow it must be? Or whether the economy will expand and deepened. Financial system, muscle, or to be cuddly. This is a two-be? India is well suited for a development model of the time everyone has to make a choice. Ambivalence is more than time.
More so, Shining in the light of China. From there the news is always swayed by Indians. Shining in their view, China is a very long time. The welfare of its appearance in an Indian tourist in awe of the returns from China, it is a small content of the whole mood. Indian businessmen in India and the ways of the enduring admiration of China's policies can be explained away by their chafing. Left-leaning politicians and commentators to wear on their sleeves for their loyalty and their Views can be annotated so.
However, it is time to sit up, headlines in The Guardian in London [Jonathan Watts by] an article, "Beijing's record in wealth creation and distribution of global appreciation" of the. There are excellent advertising with a more strongly

The dreaded babus of Mumbai

2011-10-26T21:54:00.000-07:00

Here is an example of how the meek would inherit India. Again a real insight into what makes India tick, keep hope alive amid chaos and selfishness settled. A bunch of office workers, typists and receptionists in Mumbai have found themselves on a mission. During working hours they were seen as rulers of ossified interiors of public buildings. After work, they seemed to have no relevance.
An opportunity 15 years ago itself to shake off their minds, like life in the big city. She gripped the people who matter to be instead of people seen, if at all-as obstacles. Every year they visit the Konkan coast, less goods and support for hundreds of schools. The rest of the year, they work planning for this visit.
They are guardian angels babus into the arms of the Ratnagiri-school children. They face the Lanja Rajapur taluka Sanghameshwar Utkarsha Mandal - Association for the upliftment of Lanja, Rajapur and Sangameshwar Counties'.
How green-and grim-the valley:

A large district in southern Maharashtra, Ratnagiri for the most part green and beautiful. But despite abundant annual rainfall, are intrinsically farming community is faced with a quite unexpected kind of poverty as a result of recurrent droughts.
Education be deemed, is elusive. Majority of the schools many miles away from scattered houses, steep hills and streams that overflow in the rain location, it is a daily journey that many children without shoes, umbrellas or school uniforms.
Almost none of the furniture schools, classes are held on the floor with five different types simultaneously treated by a teacher in a classroom. And for this service, there are costs to pay, although modest, they are still the means of most parents. That's right, that it is difficult to keep children in the 1500's or so schools of Ratnagiri talukas. Most students drop out of school by Class 7 or 8, to be servants or industrial trainees in nearby towns.

M P Vasimalai discovers his roots at IIM-A

2011-10-26T21:51:00.000-07:00

Among the prestigious Indian Institutes of Management, commissioned in the 1960s, one at Ahmedabad [iiMA] has always been seen as the most exclusive. Perhaps fatherhood [Harvard Business School], the charismatic founder [Dr. Vikram Sarabhai], its beautiful architecture [Louis Khan] and the severity of the admission process combined iiMA get that reputation.
For four decades, the graduates are picked by large corporate companies in India and abroad to pay princes might envy. Certainly personalities who go by the institution must have grit and brilliance. Certainly, they must be originals. Otherwise, occasionally, a graduate of iiMA not unconventional.
Like Vasimalai MP who evaded all campus recruiters in 1983 and opted for an opening to help manage the land donated to the Bhoodhan movement founded by Acharya Vinobha Bhave.
Another era, only 50 years ago:

The story of how Vasi [pronounced "Vaasi '] as he is called by everyone, was to form the DHAN Foundation can wait until later. Let's just note for now that DHAN currently has 400 professionals working in 6000 villages in six states in India, trying to revive rural economies. An overview of the times he grew up, will help to lead us into the story DHAN.
When he was born in 1956, he was named after Vasimalayan [pron. "Vaasi-Malayan '], the deity of his village, Ezhumalai near Madurai in Tamil Nadu. That time only a half-century ago are eye opening. True, the infant mortality was high. Only five of his parents' ten children survived. But on the other hand, their extended family of 20 people to support themselves and thrive on only 8 acres of natural, accustomed to labor. Vasi's father led the large offspring, he was strict, reserved and assertive, but also took total responsibility.
He physically laborious well into his seventies. He had seven sisters who lived with their husband in the house. The man worked as a laborer for others on the land, harvest crops, build houses, ferry produce to market and so on team. They were sober men, entering into a minimal cost in the large boarding house, and they were gone in a few years, having bought small parcels of their savings. There were cattle and carts to care for, raise sheep and chickens, and grains, vegetables, fruits and oil seeds to harvest. Oh, yes they were tough men of the soil.
The country was too generous. Water was available in many wells in the village just ten meters. They irrigated and cultivated using animal power and wealth produced. Going to school was no excuse for not working. Pots had to feed the animals for the school and go directly to the field after. As soon as he had in his contribution to the muscles, he was left alone to play with his friends or the hundreds of Tamil books in the school library to read

Turn right at Brahmavar ["Gift of Brahma '!] And right again. You're on a road to sleep. Trees are large, wide and quiet. Fruit is on the ground unclaimed. There are so few people. He is a small, wiry man with twinkling eyes, a carefree face.He is eager to tell his story and is the best we have it in his voice.Gandhi is all you need:"Sir, I was born in Kodagu [Coorg] in 1917. When I was two, my father and mother, is mysteriously deceased within one day of each other. My older sisters were married. Many regular readers of good news india [GNI] have wondered why this site has not been updated since 2006. The simple answer is this: the one-man team, that's me, DV Sridharan that publishes GNI country is working on a restoration project christened, point returns. It will require my undivided time and attention at least until 2010 which leaves me with little time or energy to travel and stories for GNI as I have done since 2000. So work on the site is temporarily suspended.

That is the reason. But there's a story behind how I came to connecting point return business. In case you're interested, do pull a chair and listen. It's a long time, and I should be careful, a little cocky.

Greed and of cowardice "cooked the planet

2011-10-26T21:36:00.000-07:00

Our daily newspaper carries Nobel laureate Paul Krugman's column, and I am wondering why the events on Wall Street and Washington would supplant with more serious issues in the local op-ed page. For a change, the current piece (part of the issued below), "Who made the planet?" is globally relevant than the other pieces in that column so far.(Turns out the online version of this paper no longer carries the same column, only the print edition does)".... It was not science, scientists, or the economy to fighting climate change slain. What was it? The answer is, the usual suspects: greed and cowardice. If you want the opposition to the climate of understanding, follow the money. The economy as a whole would not be significantly hurt if we put a price on carbon, but some sectors - especially coal and oil industries - would. And those companies have mounted a massive disinformation campaign to protect their bottom lines. Look at the scientists who question the consensus on climate change, look at the organizations pushing fake scandals, look at the think tanks argue that any attempt to reduce emissions would cripple the economy. Again and again, you can find them on the receiving end of a pipeline of funding that starts with big energy companies like Exxon Mobil, which has spent tens of millions of dollars promoting climate change denial, or Koch Industries, which is sponsoring anti- environmental organizations for two decades. Or look at the politicians who are most loudly opposed to climate action. Where do they get much of their campaign money? You already know the answer. By itself, however, would not have conquered greed. It had the support of cowardice - especially the cowardice of politicians who know how big a threat is global warming, supported action in the past, but abandoned their post at the crucial moment. There are a number of such climate cowards, but let me single out a particularly Senator John McCain. There was a time when Mr. McCain was considered a friend of the environment. Back in 2003, he polished his maverick image by co-sponsoring legislation that a cap-and-trade system for greenhouse gas emissions created. He confirmed support for such a system during his presidential campaign, and now things can look very different if he had continued climate action to return his opponent was in the White House. But he did not know - and it is difficult to see change as something other than the act of a man willing to sacrifice his principles, and the future of humanity, because of a few years added to his political career.
