Build your own Android Apps [Book]

2012-04-14T19:13:00.003-07:00

This book is a wonderful introduction to Android. It gets you writing a program right from the beginning and we're not talking about hello world stuff. Most new to Android start writing something standalone, something business card like. The Yamba app, that the book takes you through, is a full fledged app that interacts with remote servers all written at a pace that beginner can understand. In addition to that.

one of the greatest assets of this book, is that if you go to Marakana.com you'll find video tutorials that follow the examples. I should mention that the video tutorials are a Android Bootcamp directed by the author to a live audience so they are not necessarily directed toward a video audience. Nonetheless the videos help cement the concepts in your brain. I enjoyed this book and have moved on. I currently have 13 apps on the market and I started with this book only 8 months ago. This comes highly recommended!!!

Owners of Xperia devices have access to 50 GB of free Box.net (this time the display effectively!)

2012-04-12T19:11:00.002-07:00

Since we published a story about a special offer provided by both Sony Ericsson and Box.net gets which all users of Android phones Xperia free valuable space on a 50 GB of Service Box storage cloud. Then we have the experience to offer, but did not succeed with us, but we believe we published the news that he is confined to the countries or specific areas of interest Vnschernah but did not succeed with one of the readers. But Sony Ericsson and later explained in her blog that it had published the news by mistake and apologized because Time has not come yet!

The good news today is that Time has come, and returned Sony Ericsson announced it again yesterday and I tried it on the phone Xperia Arc and already got the 50 GB, and the wonderful news is that you can work accounts for your family and friends from one phone, it is enough that you log out of the application and then log in again from another account in order to be promoted immediately.

To take advantage of the show should have a phone Xperia and that you download the application from the Box Android Market or from our server as an apk. After running the application you can login to your account current if you have a previous account or create a new account in both cases the account will be upgraded to the 50 GB plan for life, and we'll give you a direct message telling you so. If you like create another account you can log out of the application and enter the new account. The offer is available until the end of next year 2012!

Pinger Textfree to send messages free of charge for all countries of the world

2012-04-12T19:06:00.000-07:00

Programs for communication and conversation many forms and many, but this is one of the best for me, where I can and simply register an account, get a mobile number for me, and send messages unlimited free calls to any number in the world, yes, real numbers to phone my friends, reached by messages Nos. private, which I got from a socialist, this is the best for me.

Pinger Textfree is a dedicated program to send text messages and images using the Internet, through a subscription site Pinger Textfree, subscribe free of course, when you create a new account, ask you to put zip code for your area, you can put any number consisting of 5 houses, but suppose we put 12345, following appears to us numbers, we choose the number that will be our number on the Pinger, and follow the steps, you are asked if you want to share your number via Facebook among your friends, you can ignore this option, and then takes you to the front of the messages, of course you need a confirmation e-mail to stay account is yours.

Become as simple as you can send messages to any mobile number in the world, but there are some disadvantages that you may experience are:

The program does not support the delivery of the message as the Arab, that is, if you type a message in Arabic, it would be incomprehensible to the recipient (in case the message sent to a number Pinger last, they will reach the correct format).
If you do not send messages from your number for about a month, the figure will go, and you will need to choose a new number last.
Problem are rare, which is not being able to send the message to a specific person number, no matter how you try and participated again, this figure will not be sending messages to him (the problem often occurs in Syria, and on the MTN network most often).
Should be careful to put the code international appeal before the desired number, or you will not reach your messages, and must avoid putting () in the code, but put (00), for example, in Syria: (00963) and then the desired number directly without (0) of course.
This is most of what I've ever faced and others, however I have a basic use of the program, either to write in English.

Program is more than wonderful, and I recommend everyone try it, and is also available to the owners of the iPhone (our competitor fierce), and you can also subscribe to a web browser or via mobile phone directly, and anyone can use the software over the Internet to personal computer, without the need for a device has a system Android even (and the previous image is for the participation by the computer), but still fun to write and send messages from the mobile and Android owners wherever they are much better.

Textfree download from the store "Google Play", or 1Mobile.

Android and iOS putting the Sony and Nintendo in danger

2012-04-12T18:56:00.002-07:00

Flurry has released to market studies, study shows us how big the impact left by the evolution of phones and tablet computers and games available to them on the giants of portable gaming devices: Sony and Nintendo. Since 2009 until the year 2011 profit rose games on the Android and iOS together from 19 to 59 percent to surpass two games sold to Sony PSP and Nintendo DS gaming handheld, as shown in the following figure:

Sony and Nintendo in danger

This study, especially the United States market, but give us a general idea of the situation suggests that a close in all markets as well. This development is terrible in the manufacture of smart phones and computers tablet, especially those that are running Android, allowed gaming companies to develop games great match those developed for gaming devices portable and excel sometimes and are sold at a cheaper price, with the advent of quad-core processors such as the NVIDIA Tegra 3 we talked about yesterday will continue to Games development will make more games on Android devices competing gaming platforms such as the basic PS3 and XBOX, and not only those phones.

Sony was aware of this early, it issued a Xperia Play teamed up with Google to integrate within any programmatically PSP Android phone and allowed those who wanted a license from the telephone companies and Hawwasabha tablet to run PlayStation games PlayStation Certified. Eye now on the Nintendo, you will think also integrate its platform with smart phones or will it continue to see profits from this market is going to decline?

Review interface "Sense 4.0": a qualitative shift actually

2012-04-11T18:43:00.001-07:00

After a lot of the criticism directed at the company HTC because it faced assigned "Sense," which is a characteristic fixed devices company operating system Android has approved HTC that there is a problem in this interface, and promised that he will be working in earnest and quick to correct this situation and, indeed, as promised by the company Taiwanese the response was rapid over the new version of this interface. Version 4.0 and bearing the number will be unavailable on the latest devices such as the company (One X, One S) and since these devices is currently available it was necessary to use one Romat devoted to the device (HTC Sensation) so that I can experience the new Sense ....

Sense 4.0

No more slow and gravity:

Perhaps the criticism of the basic and most frequently between users and sites specialized technical alike is that the interface Sense were causing slower and heavier remarkable on devices that carry this interface, but that some users were resorting to Romat custom flavor (AOSP) so they can get rid from the problem of slow and gravity.

This situation apparently has become of the past for two main reasons:

HTC has redesigned the interface and make it lighter credit the principle of simplicity to the farthest degree.
Specifications of devices the current is so high that there is no longer a possibility that the processor or RAM is sufficient for the operation of this interface smoothly.

Let us move to review the most important aspects of the interface:

Lock screen:

There is little new about the previous version, we have four shortcuts that can be customized to run the program directly from the lock screen, but she looks a little softer in addition to the possibility of withdrawal of the upper tray alerts even when the device is closed and has found practical advantage in some cases.

Course of the features of screen lock in the Sense that it is presenting some news and a large screen lock such as a picture caller of missed calls or text short message received, or even controls the music playback if the user is listening to music on the device and all the above is subject to the allocation of .

Add that feature to open the device by the camera are available and operate smoothly.

Sense 4.0

The splash screen:

We find on the splash screen and the widget clock and weather famous, dating back to the beginnings of Sense on the devices Windows Mobile, but note that the Launch the old have been replaced by a band new, more effective and MCSE customizable as the tape the old contained the three buttons, one of the phone and the other for drawer applications and the last of the list allocation, while the current one of which contains five fixed drawer and they are programs and other buttons are all subject to change based on the desire and the user can add a shortcut, one for each button or a folder containing shortcuts.
Of course, all of which have become shortcuts supports indicate the number of alerts for that program (as in the iPhone operating system).

Tray alerts (list of alerts)

Underwent this part of the Sense also to redesign large as it was to dispense with the principle of two parts separated, who was in Sense 3, and the adoption of part one with a shortcut to the Settings menu at the top next to the Scan button and all alerts, added that the alerts can be scanned individually by dragging them either to the right or to the left, I do not know why was the cancellation of part vB fast from the tray alert as I was considered very useful and I used to use it frequently, perhaps because the Android 4.0 provided the possibility for developers to make applications can be integrated with a list of alerts and offer the same settings, rapid, and starting to like these applications are already growing, and can be installed from the market for to get the same characteristics.

Applications

Sense of the most elements 4, which underwent a redesign, start by making the pages slide horizontally instead of vertical direction in the previous versions.
Then observe a three-dimensional effect when moving between classifications in the picture below (all applications, the most widely used, applications that reflect Tenslleha by the user) of course note the attention to detail are characteristic of HTC as these classifications on the bottom can be customized too (the order or even remove ) and this possibility is available across all parts of Sense, which contains the same buttons (rankings).

Of course there is the possibility to control the order of programs, management, with shortcuts to the market for and the search at the top and there is a new addition, I really liked it when you are pressing and holding on one of the programs you get on the options the first is the normal drag it to the start screen and the second is new you can drag it to the top so that you delete directly from the application without questions and confirm interfaces which I find endearing and very practical at the same time, knowing that such a feature in Android 4.0 and Sense interface is not limited.

Widgets

Of course it is the essential ingredient for Sense was obviously to get its share of change and this is what was actually, many of them got on the operations of cosmetic checked out a lot of Mkontaha Triple dimension has been replaced by parts of a more simple (within the scheme HTC to make the entire interface is more lightweight and smooth ), in addition to some Widgets got the possibility of changing the size as shown in the special textbox widget.

Striking is the interface Widgets add a completely new, considering that HTC felt that Widgets do not put in the drawer Google applications, as it did in the ice cream version, if it was necessary to provide an interface to add Widgets all features possible and this is what happened.

You can add any widget to any screen, then continue adding process of Widgets without departing from the same interface. Something beautiful and very practical like something to offer its services in Samsung but with improvements.

Things sporadic

Switch between open applications and recent applications has been modified to resemble the way the entire Windows ships (3d preview) while maintaining through the clouds to shut down the application from a ice cream, but has become a drag towards the top and not to one side.

Of the (instant synchronization "push sync") or synchronization based on time intervals.

In the browser there is a lot of improvements, apparently, give them a smart appear when you reach the end of any page with options that might be useful to the user, in addition to the reading mode button which coordinates the page facilitates the process of reading.

Added a new effect to the end of a list instead of the default, which is an increase in color, and this marked the HTC encountered and moved away from the rebound effect, which was the subject of a dispute between Apple and Samsung.

The HTC Drop Box service integrating Dropbox with the system and devices will give users of the new 25 GB of space cloud for two years.

In the end, it remains to recall that the device user is Sensashin normal and Roman is Roman experimental and thus there were some problems and Alaabob in the interface that will most likely fix it in future versions, in addition to HTC said that the interface Sense (4) were not available on older devices, which Cncashin them.

2012-04-11T18:20:00.001-07:00

Samsung: maintaining the confidentiality of Galaxy S3Galaxy S3

2012-04-11T18:13:00.000-07:00

It is well known that Apple is one of the companies engaged in the highest degree of secrecy surrounding the development of their products at all. It is known that even most of the staff working on the development of devices for iPhone without knowing its final form, except for the category does not exceed a few manager of the company and some of the key engineers. One of the methods practiced by the Apple device is to cover a special cover hides the form completely to prevent any one from seeing the device, even during the final stages of testing.

Galaxy S3

But in the world of Android, by contrast, we know we are all the details turned out to be accurate about HTC devices and Sony Ericsson, Motorola, the last of the details within the images clearly showed us the forms of devices before officially disclosed, and not only their specifications. Even for Samsung and its leaking before they appear in many cases.

But for the phone Galaxy S III until now, have not reached any concrete reality seems to us confirmed or even almost certain, all the leaks that have emerged, then leaks appear again offering a variety of forms all of which are completely false, of course, it seems. Although the issuance of official organ had approached, and must be that the device has come out of the walls of Samsung became the test on several players of the mobile phone in different parts of the world except that the device did not leak out until now, what password you see and how could Samsung to maintain the confidentiality of the device so far ?

According to the site ETNews Korea, Samsung is applied to the device and the means of protection and confidentiality similar to those applied by the Apple devices iPhone, ie, that no employee of any company in the world of companies that cooperate with Samsung in the test device and the preparation of marketing can be defined as a device real- tightly covered, in addition to a number of other means of protection that we do not know.

Why all this secrecy?

The device without a doubt will be a main contender for your iPhone 5 next (or will carry the name of the iPhone's new?), And certainly do not want to Samsung for any information that up to Apple may make the latter modify the design of her next, or add the feature is missing in the iPhone, found in Samsung . Some might think that Apple's huge market and its customers will buy a new phone anyway, it's true, but it does not mean that Apple does not dare to compete with Samsung and will not seek to make her better, it is clear from the famous legal developments between the two companies.

There is another important, Samsung has packed a lot of leaking is not done by an enthusiastic employee of the device, as far as fear of deliberately leaking a secret to be sent without the Apple to appear in the press, as there is also the secret spy war between the companies can not deny.

For all these reasons imposed Samsung cordon of secrecy is unparalleled on the next apparatus. Will not know the truth before disclosing that it may be at any moment during the next few weeks.

Google Tablet PC will be delayed until July in an attempt to reduce its price

2012-04-10T05:52:00.000-07:00

Except to confirm Google's chief executive last year that Google is already trying to launch a Tablet PC (from the Nexus series perhaps) at a low price and high quality, except for that confirmation, we do not know anything about the device only rumors, nothing official yet. But these rumors are heavy and repeated from different sources led us to know some information that seems uncertain.

Google Tablet PC

Of things is almost certain that Google has chosen to make Asus creative new device. As after the company announced a MeMo 370T screen seven-inch quad-core and at $ 249 only, I found Google that this device achieves its ambitions to put the device dream, processor supernatural and this low price, which had hoped to Google, and therefore canceled the Asus put the device and tended to be manufactured in cooperation with Google.

Rumors earlier reported that the device will be ready by May / May next, and there is mention of the month of April / April now, but according to reliable sources for The Verge has Google has decided to delay put the device until July next, for two reasons: the first is to try to reduce the price of the device, and the second is to exert more effort to improve quality.

According to previous rumors, the Google was planning to put a price ranging between 149 to $ 199, but it seems that the price of $ 249 raised by Asus in the first time so far is still the lowest price can be raised by the device. Personally, I'd be more than happy to pay $ 249 for a device from Asus quad-core processor and high resolution screen, but Google is not shared by opinion and want to reduce the price to the point of at least $ 200 in order to compete with the Kindle from Amazon Fire. The delay put the device according to the latest report is for the sake of finding ways to reduce the price.

Although the company did not explain the technique used in this charging battery wireless but the shipping battery is most likely according to the criterion of Qi (pronounced "chi") or what is known as Qi Inductive Charging System The technology allows to ship phones as soon as contact with the surface of the particular, and this technique is not new but it did not spread widely yet, and you need to be supported in the phone itself or via a special additional cover is installed on the phone.

It is noted that some manufacturers of Android phones such as LG and HTC and Motorola have joined the Association of Energy developed a wireless standard, and a phone LG Optimus 2X Android supports this technique, and the phone is rumored that the next Galaxy S III may also be supported.

I think that the technology will spread significantly over the next year or two, whether in cars or in offices and homes.

Android Design Preview program to assist in the design of Android applications

2012-03-10T15:01:00.002-08:00

If you are a developer for Android applications, or even determined you are prompted for designing interfaces for the application of Android through the program "Photoshop" or any other program, it is imperative that you know that it is somewhat difficult to test how it looks design actually on the phone, especially if you're at the stage of being a lot of amendments.

Until now, the best and fastest way is to export the image from Photoshop PNG format and transfer to your phone and open it to full screen. But Roman Nurik a programmer working for Google has developed a wonderful tool called Android Design Preview, which allows you to view part of what appears on the computer screen directly on the screen of the phone, any tool that is a mirror works by ADB. All you have to do is identify the part that you want to watch on the phone (in this case design in Adobe Photoshop, the program will offer design commensurate with a screen resolution of your phone.

The program is a Jar file you install on your computer and therefore it works with Windows, Linux and Mac, for further clarification see the following video:

You can download the tool from here.

In fact, recently there are many wonderful tools to help developers to Android applications and we were remiss in their coverage. We will cover a number of them during the later articles.
