It's that time of year again to check out all those cool London Fashion Week showcards and go "weeeeeee" at the one my images are on. Here are some I came across for this season:

Gabriela at Elite

Think this is the first girl I've shot since April last year! Oh my as time flies.

A few more girl shoots coming up this year, but no need for the boys to be jealous. My boy shoots still running as passionately as ever. Was great to mix it up little though. In the last few weeks I've already shot 4 girls, which I have really enjoyed!

With this shoot wanted to shoot Gabriela in a similar way to how I often approach my male shoots. But I wanted to in addition play on some of her feminine strength as well as bringing in a bit of a disturbed/dark influence in this image series.

"It's Above You" for Supplementaire Magazine issue 7

I had this idea that I wanted to challenge a few boys I was working with to be directly under the light to see what they did with it. This editorial developed from that idea, as the boys started giving me some really interesting and beautiful results.

Below, James Myhill at Next Model Management, who was so incredible to work with on this. He embraces his work like nobody else, and was perfect for playing with the light above. Styling by Aigul Sembayeva. Grooming by Eimear Sweeney.

Raymond Parkinson for Boys by Girls

I'm really diggin Raymond at M+P at the moment. He just has that really cool vibe going on. Plus he's a really nice dude. He was also completely mentally ready to shoot with me, and was so easy to work with and direct (even if my directions were silly). Raymond just goes for it and has fun with it. I can't ask for more, and the photographer in me gets happy.

Raymond also gives me the same inner calm when I am in his presence that Harry Uzoka does. I like.

Man with big beard

A man with a big beard recently emailed me with some kind words. With his poetic ways he highlighted something I have had on my mind lately; youth is invaluable. And although we should always welcome the child inside that we should allow to live on forever, whilst we let him play alongside with the adult the world wants us to be - capturing those precious moments of youth is invaluable. I realise this is exactly what I have been doing for a while. I hope followers of my photography are able to connect with my images, and see this as a reoccurring theme in my work.

As the man with the big beard said: "...those moments in time are worlds unto themselves. Valuable, precious life experience that I am glad the subject has you to care for. In all, as you afford me the luxury of this wonderful checkpoint enroute to the golden years, a caution to your subjects to hold onto that question and never loose the wonder of the child."

He then gave me a big bear virtual hug. It felt good.

Charlie Buirski for Boys by Girls

Charlie is one of those boys I've stayed in touch with for a while and always wanted to shoot. So we felt that recently the time was right, and we went ahead to collaborate on a shoot together. Keeping it simple, I wanted to show off Charlie's boyish charm, yet at the same time his more mature strengths.

I love following someone's journey as a model and a person, and when you know someone really wants to work with you a shoot tends to flow really nicely. Hopefully others will also enjoy my capture of Charlie at this point in time. Click here or the below image for the full image series.

There is a lovely new face at Elite Models. His name is Eli, and he is a gorgeous chap. He also has cool hair. And behind the cool hair is even more stunning facial structures. Rory Torrens Video

Behind the wall of coolness of Rory Torrens (Elite) lies a beautiful and sensual character. One of my Tumblr followers described that in this video I managed to capture an "untouchable kind of innocent" in Rory. Yay me! I thought this was a beautiful way of making a point that Rory is so much more than the sexy, cool that one often immediately get captured by with this model. As India Hobson describes him he is a complex but beautiful person.

At my "Closer" shoot with Rory I felt he gave me so much that day, and he broke down layers of his walls and revealed even more of his beauty. The video below has captures from the day and some of the beauty of Rory I got to see. I feel intrigued to continue to shoot Rory, as there is definitely more to be explored with this amazing boy. I like boys that are on a journey, boys with secrets and boys that get more interesting the more layers you peal. Rory is definitely one of those people. Join me in watching some of the stunning moments from my little adventure with him.

Why We Do The Things We Do

Last year was hard. It was also full of amazing moments beyond what I thought I'd achieve last year!

This year has barely started, and it is already full of new challenges and new people to inspire me. To all the people that have shown support and continue to show your support for me and my work, a big warm thank you to all! I am full of hope, optimism and inspiration to let 2012 unfold it's mysteries and surprises.

I often get a lot of questions around my work. Why the focus on boys? Why the young boys and not men? I think that's a tale for another time, as I will probably go on for a while, and it requires me to go to a deeper place and possibly have a glass of wine or three. The fact is that if I had more time to shoot, I would be exploring a whole lot more areas, but with so limited time to shoot, it's easy to focus my energy on where my passion truly lies. I have realised a lot lately that each and every boy I shoot that let me into their personal journey, inspire me in a different way and helps my work grow. I want to thank those boys cause without you and your awesome energy I wouldn't be doing this. So thanks to Micky for making me more excited about ice-cream than I have been since I was 5, to Sebastian for letting me experience the awesomeness of the Sauve, to Yuri for being the coolest thing to walk this planet, to Tom for being Tom, to Matthew for embracing my own quirkiness, to Sean for being far too nice for his own good, to Alex for lifting me up when I need it and to Simon for opening this door for me in the first place. And a thank you to everyone else that I have shot that invested your time and energy into achieving wicked images with me. You are all my little heroes.

Why do we keep pushing ourselves to the limits to keep getting better, keep growing and keep reaching higher and higher? Why do we make too many sacrifices to achieve our goals? And why do we keep shooting till we drop and edit till early morning hours? Because we hope that in the end it will all be worth it. Or perhaps because we are all just stubborn little fuckers. My photographic journey is always coloured with my own experiences, and often a way to express any sadness or joy that happens in my life. It gives me a sense of relief. For every image I produce that I am truly happy with, or for every editorial I shoot that brings me proudness, it's like a piece in my puzzle of self falls into place.

Like a very inspiring woman recently told me "keep marching to the beat of your own drum". As the new year starts I have a new leap of faith, a virtual push in the back you might say, to keep going no matter what, and that hard work and belief in self will eventually lead to greatness. Most importantly the people I work with is a big driver in my work, and it's those small moments of understanding or mutual total admiration, and the images this leads to, that reminds me that that in itself is worth it all. So no matter what this year brings, I'm ready to keep marching, and keep adding pieces to my puzzle.

Jason Wilder for Boys by Girls

Another treat New York provided me with was Jason Wilder at New York Model Management! By looking at my own images again, I already feel like I want to shoot him more... like now!!! Why is he not in London? But that aside, I had a wonderful shoot (although super hot day!) by the Brooklyn bridge with young Wilder. Some models and photographers work together very effortlessly, and for me Jason was one of those models where it just flowed. He has that look that I adore, he was sweet as a bunny, had a great positive aura about him and adapted to how I wanted him to pose almost without me saying it. Adore, adore, adore!

Wonder pieces from the Ninh and Janet Zheng collection, brought in by stylist Kita Updike, and the wonderful Mauricio on hair. If I could clone Mauricio for my London hair styling needs I would! London needs more hair stylists like him, plus he brings this magic calm to a shoot. One just wants to walk over and hug him at random moments. The wonderful Alex Margary from www.metrovelvet.com was also at my shoot to help out and say hello as he's someone I've stayed in touch with for our general passion for menswear and fabulous male models. Good times.

Closer to Helge Johansson

These are the shoes and legs of Helge Johansson. He lives in Stockholm and is signed with Kid of Tomorrow there. I had the pleasure of shooting this amazing boy for Boys by Girls book "Closer", which made me come back to London optimism and belief that there are good people around.

This boy has dreams enough for all of us, and with his faith that the world is full of good things, it's hard not to feel uplifted after spending hours with Helge in Swedish coffee shops and cafes.

My day with Jordan was fab, and resulted in a series of images we both felt represented "Jordan". I can't wait to capture more of Jordan!

Harry Uzoka for Boys by Girls

There is something so magic about Harry at M+P. He has this powerful strength, yet at the same time an amazing softness and vulnerability. The location I used in the images below has lights in the ceiling, so the model has to be aware of the light differently as it hits their face and body, and Harry's ability to play with light is amaze. Instead of my usual "don't forget the light is above you", he flowed away into his own so I could just shut up and shoot a series of beautiful portraits. Just magic. Thank you Harry.

Keith Hernandez for Boys by Girls

When I missed out on shooting the stunning Keith Hernandez (Elite / Request) back in September during my trip to New York, I did some wishful thinking that the opportunity to shoot with him would come again soon. Lucky for me it did during his recent London visit!

We took to the streets of Battersea, exploring Keith's urban Bronx side and mixing it in with a dash of urban London (including the iconic Battersea Park powerstation in one of our shots). Ever the charmer, Keith delivered some gorgeous images in a Boys by Girls series called "Crossing Echoes". Check out images here or by clicking the image below.

Closer to Simon Jennings

Many of you will recognise Simon if you have been following my work for a while, so it won't come as a surprise that young Jennings has his story in the second Boys by Girls book "Closer". For my insights on Simon and his story, his 6 page spread in the book will be worth a read/view.

There is something so incredibly beautiful about that stage between boy and man, and I've been able to be part of Simon's journey for the last two years. These images are some of my most beautiful yet of this boy in my eyes, as I captured him as him in this intimate portrait series.
