But I went to my fiance's home during this Diwali vacation. I will get married coming December 2009.

The occasion for which I have been there was Diwali or few people call it Deepawali. Diwali is an Indian festival which is celebrated with sweets and lights. It is mainly a festival of Hindu community but is celebrated by almost all the communities in India. During diwali people lit candles and play with crackers, exchange sweets and gifts with friends and neighbors.

There are different stories associated with Diwali. In North India people believe that at this day Lord Rama came back from forests to Ayodhya (Rama's ruling capital) after 14 year. He promised his step mother and father that he will stay away from home for 14 years. His wife Sita and brother Laxman went to forests along with him. During last year of their stay in forests evil Ravana kidnapped Sita from their hut. Rama & Laxman fought with huge army of Ravana situated in Shri Lanka. They had a huge support of vaanars (apes with human body). With help of these vaanars they built unbelievable bridge between India and Lanka to win Sita back from Ravana. It was a 10 days sever fight between Rama & Ravana along with theirs armies. The tenth day Rama killed Ravana and won his wife from him. This day is celebrated as Dussera in India. After 20 days of Dussera, Diwali is celebrated.

In South India people celebrate it as Naraka Chaturdashi. When Lord Shri Krishna killed evil Naraka who was harming people in this earth because he got a blessing from Lord Brahma that he can only be killed by his mother Bhudevi who was reincarnated as Satyabhama, Lord Krishna's second wife. It took a little efforts for Lord Krishna to make Satyabhama (Bhudevi) kill her son Naraka. South Indians celebrate this day by lighting sparklers and crackers earliest in the morning.

Despite of different reasons everybody takes part in celebrating Diwali. I have enjoyed it very well. After marriage I will have a family of 12 members in same house. Now counting days towards my marriage. Will definitely go to new places in India for my honeymoon. So my upcoming posts will tell you about a North Indian wedding procedures and few more places in India. Keep reading me.

Thanks

I have started commuting to Gurgaon from last few days because I got a job here. But I stay in West Delhi and daily travel 2-3 hours from Delhi to Gurgaon and see every small detail while traveling. To see core India one has to travel from small streets of these kinds of cities in India.

I was saying that Gurgaon means sweet village but it’s no more a village after rapid industrialization. Gurgaon is a hub for major IT companies of India and various multinational companies. When people talk about Gurgaon of 5-6 years back they say it was a land full of greens and goats. At that time very few companies have made their offices in Gurgaon and development was very slow. After few more companies ventured in Gurgaon government of India started improving the public utilities in order to encourage people commute easily for their jobs.

My office is near Khandsa village & close to Delhi-Jaipur highway. It is very difficult to reach to my office through public transports but government is working towards starting bus facilities through main bus stations in Gurgaon. I am using company’s cab to travel to my office right now and most of the companies in Gurgaon provide cab facility due to public transport problems.

When I was not been to Gurgaon, I use to think that it will be some Indian village with agriculture and cultivation as main business, but when I came here and spoke with the people here, I got to know the clear past of Gurgaon. Just because the term “gaon” is included in its name people think that it must be some village (“gaon” in Hindi means village), but it is a fully developed city. Metro line is also being constructed from Delhi to Gurgaon.

I would like to tell this to people staying in different parts of the India and world that if they are getting any opportunity to come to Gurgaon please do not reject that. You will definitely miss to see the decent and developed part of India.

It was an awesome movie based on a persons life from childhood to youth (referred as slum dog of the movie).

"Slum Dog Millionaire" is the name of that movie in which a poor kid struggling with his slum life grows up without falling into wrong directions and finally makes it to win millions in a game show. But because he was from slums he was alleged to be a cheat. But then he proves himself clean by explaining that how the questions were associated with his past.

Every scene has been built & pictured so nicely that no one was getting up to take cold drinks and pop-corns. Though the film has expressed the extreme conditions of slum life in India, it has made a very good approach to Indian audiences. This movie may not entertain those who want to see love stories full of romantic songs and drama.

I give this movie 4 points out of 5 because it has been made me stick to my place in the cinema hall and I was there till last casting details were on the screen. I congratulate Mr. Danny Boyle for making such a good quality movie and hope to see few more feathers in his cap. The lead actor Dev Patel has done wonderful job and of course the Oscar winner music of the movie by A.R Rehman is a landmark Indian cinema.

It started with a good story line of Indian emotions of an Aunty(Waheeda Rehman ji) staying in abroad. She wanted to die in Indian land only. Then her grandson(Abhishek Bacchan) take the lead to take her to India. Then he lands in India and meets real India in a place called Delhi 6. Then story moves forward about how he accepted people of India and Indian people accepted him.

Though the story was good my expectation from Mr. Rakesh Mehra was much-much higher. After seeing his previous making this movie was just a subject of spending on movie tickets, popcorn and cold drinks.

The director has tried to stuff lots of Indian social backward mentality in the movie and at the end audiences were forced to be convinced that whatsoever our India is, people here are full of heart feelings, so we all should love it. I would call this movie an "overstuffed teddy".

Just because it had India as its main subject I will give it 2.5 points out of 5.

The people on the other side love to do only one thing: probe everywhere for boys and girls celebrating their love, and disturb them till the hell's end. Don't know where these guys go on other days when the things happen how it should never be.

Nowadays these so called revolutionaries are discovering new way to damage happiness of lovers on this day. The valentines day of 2009 in India was an example of their discovery. They decided that they will forcefully make the couples marry each other on the spot if they find anyone together on the public places. I really don't have any objection if it is for the well being of people & society. And if it was for the well being of people & society they should take the charge to do this exercise ever day of the year, not only for this one day to gain free publicity & appearance in the news channels.

India is a democratic country but people want to turn it to autocratic country. I have heard that to gain the best speed for moving forward one has to move a few steps back, might be these people have adapted that learning in their veins. It is just a simple picnic spot but a nice place for any get together. You get lots of space there to roam around. Mekedatu got its name from a story. Mekedatu in Kannada means "footsteps of a goat". It is said that once lord shiva has been to this place and he wanted to cross the stream which was very wide, there was only one rock in between. So lord Shiva incarnated as a goat and jumped stepping over that small rock and crossed the stream. From that time the small rock got the marks of those footsteps.

One branch of Kauvery flows through Mekedatu. It is around 80 K.M away from Bangalore. I know this very nicely because me and my friends have been there in two bikes, in between one of our bikes met with an accident and I rode the bike full 80 K.M. Next day my muscles were paining like someone is hammering all over my body.

The river water was full of colorful fishes, and the water was looking as clean as glass. You can find small snack centers around the river, which is not so expensive. As I called it a picnic spot, it is good for a day out, but there are no places available as accomodation, so don't make plan for more than a day for this place. I went there through bike so I don't know about the bus services from Bangalore to Mekedatu but definitely there are cab services available in various centers in Bangalore.

India is full of travel destinations and I have not seen even thousandth part of it. I am trying to visit all the places in India that are full of natural and heritage beauty. Keep reading me, I will get back to you!!!!!!!!!

I have been to many places when I was a kid and my dad was a traveling freak. I don't remember much about all those places because it was just like a weekend outing fun for me and my brother. So I have decided to visit all those places again and appreciate the beauty of India and catch it in my eyes forever.

This time I am heading towards Jammu Tavi to see the sacred temple of Mata Vaishnav Devi. I remember I have been there twice with my family. First time when I was 5 years old and staying in Katni and second time when I was 7 years old and I was staying in Jabalpur. Both the time we took a train till Delhi and then changed to another train that goes till "Jammu Tavi". Jammu Tavi is the closest railway station around 50 k.m. from "Katra". Katra is the place of hault for the travellers who want to see Vaishnav Devi. The journey from Jammu to Katra can be done through private or public transport. I remember I vomited 5-6 times when we were in a bus from Jammu Tavi towards Katra. Buses moves like a roller coaster ride and the very experienced bus drivers forget that new comers are not use to it (I was not alone who vomited, my parents keep telling me when they talk about those trips). During this ride one can see the clouds flying below bus or the buses flying above clouds.

Commutation and accomodation is not a problem in Jammu because tourism is the main business there. People who own houses in Jammu build extra rooms for letting them on rent for the tourists. It is cheap and convenient, but for those who need extra care can book hotels in Katra.

Journey from Katra towards Vaishnav Devi Temple is a sacred journey. Admirer of Mata Vaishnav Devi walk for more than 25 k.m to reach the temple. People who are unable to walk can hire ponies, horses and palanquins etc. With a normal walking speed one can reach within 10 hours to the temple. Some more time can be added in the journey for the holy walk in "Ardhkumari Cave". It is said that goddess Vaishnav Devi stayed at this cave for 9 months to gain special powers for destroying the existance of a devil. One has to walk over the thread of fresh and chill water flowing through the cave. Ardhkumari is half the distance between Katra and Vaishnav Devi Temple.

It is said by the people that after godess Vaishnav Devi sliced the head of Devil Bhairav, his head fell some distance away from his body and it preyed with godess not to defame his existence on this earth because he has devoted his whole life worshipping godess Kaali (another part of Mata Shakti like Vaishnav Devi). Godess Vaishnav Devi agreed to his this plea and that place where his head was fallen became another holy place called as Bhairav Baba temple. The journey of Vaishnav Devi doesnt completes unless one has been to the temple of Bhairav Baba.

The final place Vaishnav Devi Temple is the place where godess Vaishnav Devi fought with and killed Devil Bhairav. Lakhs of people from all over the India come to this place to admire the power of godess Vaishnav Devi and request her to kill evil energies inside them. Three stone balls are placed inside the temple as an image of godess Shakti (better half of lord Shiva according to Hindi mythology), godess Kaali (a part of godess Shakti) and Vaishnav Devi (another part of godess Shakti).

Before entering the temple people take bath in the icy water flowing from the top of the hill. They think it is the purest bath of their life. After taking bath people move forward to see the stone balls which represents the limitless power of God.

There are facilities of staying at the hilltop at night in dharma shalas and hotels. It is always very cold at the hilltop in any season because ice glaciers are very close to this place. I am not going to go during cold season anyway because the breeze flowing from northern region in this season is very dangerous. It is good to go during summers because at that time breeze flow stops from northern region.

I dont know when I will visint any new place in India, but I will keep writing about the places where I have visited and forget to write about them.

It is the capital of India. Delhi is one of the hottest city in whole country during summers, and winters are as cold as ice in deep freezer. I have been to Delhi when I was seven years old, my family decided to take a tourist bus that will go all the places in Delhi and it will be convenient to go with a troupe. It was a real good experience. That time pollution and heat were killing but the visit to the national heritages was very thrilling.

Now I am twenty three years old and I am again here in Delhi. Now season is not so hot and not even so cold, this is the time between summer and cold, and Delhi is really beautiful to see in this season. The Delhi Metro has really contributed to decrease in road traffic. I think Delhi Metro is a very convenient way to commute in Delhi. Public buses are not so convenient but easily assessible option in Delhi. Anytime, anyplace you can get buses to reach anywhere. Metro still have lots of time to reach every destination of Delhi.

There are lots of places to visit in Delhi and NCR (National Capital Area). Foreigners come here to see the beauty, culture, modernization and Mughal architecture. The places which attract tourists are like Red Fort (Laal Quila), Qutub Minar, Lotus Temple, India Gate, Sansad Bhavan, Jantar Mantar, Musiums, Mughal Architectural buildings and so on.

Delhi is called the heart of India because it is the capital of India and all the legal and political decisions for whole country is taken by the Central Government which is in Delhi only. Another reason for calling it the heart of India is its location in the map of India. Delhi is just at the place where a heart can be.

It is really a nice place to live.

Being there is like absolutely staying with the nature's daughter. It is a paradise for nature lovers. Most of the Pachmarhi's land is dedicated to trees and animals rather than commercial buildings, because of which the nature is preserved so beautifully. In Pachmarhi one can find so many falls, fountains, ponds, pools, caves, old temples and lots of natural architecture. The nearest railway station to Pachmarhi is Pipariya. From Pipariya one can go by bus, taxi or jeep upto 30 kilometers. For staying there are hotels, lodges, resorts etc, but in a very segrigated portion of Pachmarhi. There are tours and safaris to watch the wild life.

Following are the main places to see in Pachmarhi:

Bison Lodge: It is the oldest building of Pachmarhi constructed in 1862. It is now converted into a museum to exhibit the rich flora and fauna of Pachmarhi. It contains the skins of dead wild animals found in the jungles, rare species of the plants, butterflies, flowers etc.

Forsyth Point: This is the point where Captain Forsyth found Pachmarhi in 1857. Pachmarhi was developed as a resort by the British Empire.

Bee Fall: The drinking water for Pachmarhi comes from the stream of this waterfall. It makes beautiful bathing pool for the visitors.

Fairy Pool: It id nice picnic spot for kid and the families. Pool is shallow from all the sides, only the place where waterfall is there is deep.

Big Fall: This is a tremendous fall of water towards the valleys of Pachmarhi. People have to walk over the rocks from Fairy Pool to Big fall (also called Rajat Prapat).

Duchess Falls: The beautiful streams of water get divided because of big rocks and fall down from a 4.0 kilometers of hight. The different branches of water fall makes it looks like silver embroidery over a leaf green saree.

Sunder Kund: This is a nice place for swimming in the Jambu Dwip Stream, it is a huge rocky pool. After crossing the Duchess Fall and walking around 3.0 kilometers will lead to Sunder Kund.

Mahadeo: This is lord Shiva's temple, in a hilly area. People climb long stair cases to reach the temple and few people donate Trishuls to make their wishes come true. On the way coming down there are caves with paintings and carvings.

Chauragarh: Chauragarh also is dedicated to lord Shiva's worship. It is 4.o kilometers from Mahadeo, somewhere in Satpura hills.

Jata Shankar: Another temple of lord Shiva, but not built by anyone. It is in a cave under a mass of loose boulders in which the Jambu Dwip stream has its source. Water droplets keep showering the Shivalinga.

Dhoopgarh: This nice sunset point is in the peak of Satpura range and give a beautiful picture of surroundings. Always carry ample amount of water if going to do tracking towards Dhoopgarh, there is no proper water source on the way.

Pandav Caves: There are five caves built in a low hill of sand stone rocks. It is said that Pandava brothers stayed here when they were expelled out of their state because of a bet with Kaurvas.

Reechgarh: It is a place in the mid of rocks that looks like a castle, with an enterance made up of rocks. It is said that this place use to be crowded with the Beers way back, because of which this place was named as Reechgarh. The meaning of reechgarh is Beer's Castle (Reech means Huge Beer and Garh means Castle).

Catholic Church: A great example of French and Irish mixed architecture, built by the British in 1892. There is cemetery attached to the church which has graves from the time of world war I and II.

Christ Church: This is most beautiful small church in Madhya Pradesh, built by British in 1875. Another momentum of British rule. This church's architecture is as fascinating as catholic church.

Pachmari is spotless and untouched. It is clearly instructed to each visitor, not to litter anywhere. If they get something in plastic bags they have to take the plastic bags back with them. It helps in preserving the natural beauty of Pachmarhi and give us such a pure natural holiday spot.

We celebrate it on Full Moon Day of the Hindu month of Shravan and the dates varies every year. In the year 2008 Rakhi or Raksha Bandhan will be celebrated on 16th August and in 2009 it will be celebrated on 5th August.

Basically the word Raksha Bandhan means a thread that reminds a brother to always take care of her sister. This is an Indian festival meant for brothers and sisters. There are many stories about the origin of this festival in ancient granths, puranas and history books several incidents throw light on the origin and early customs related to Raksha Bandhan.

A famous incident is about queen Karmawati of Chittor. When the king of Gujarat attacked Chittor, the widow queen knew she wont be able to save the honour of the womenfolk. She immediately sent a horse-rider with a bejewelled raakhi to Mughal emperor Humayun in Agra seeking protection from the invader. Humayun was so touched by this appeal of sisterly sentiment that he lost no time in rushing to her help with a large army. But it was too late by the time he reached Chittor. All he found was the burning pyres of the brave queen and thousands of women.
In deep repentance that he could not save his sister, Humayun is said to have picked up a pinch of ashes from Karmawati's pyre and put it on his forehead as a mark of affection and esteem for her.

This piece of thread means a lot for brothers and sisters in India.

Please refer following links for more information:

http://festivals.iloveindia.com/rakhi/
http://www.whenisrakhi.com/historical-stories-on-rakhi/
http://www.raksha-bandhan.com/legends-of-rakhi.html

Through my blog I want to pay tribute to the sacrifices of all those Indians who dreamed about Independent India during 200 years of British rule. Every second of their life was praying for freedom. Their dreams became our reality because of their efforts.

But how many people actually care about it. We make our country roads dirty to keep our houses clean and then block the nose to avoid stink and then curse others for throwing the garbage on road. We keep doing what others do and wait if others stop doing it. That day never comes when everyone stop doing it.

The cleaner staff in India is very active they always keep cleaning the main roads and colony roads whenever possible. We all should help them by throwing the junk at correct place. The main difficulty comes when people litter in open areas like a water passage, empty plots, road sides etc. Birds and animals are free to party over it and carry things all over the surroundings. In such cases it is difficult for the cleaner to collect the trash and destroy or recycle it. In this situation the government can also help in making a place for every street where people can leave their garbage.

I request all my fellow Indians, who reside in India and care for the freedom, achieved by our freedom fighters. Keep your house clean but at the same keep your country clean. Don’t wait for others to do it, let others see you and do it.

Neat and clean India will lead to a healthy and powerful India.

Even I dream like our freedom revolutionists. I want to see a clean India, and I will always try from my side to keep it clean and request others to do it. I hope it will not take another 200 years for it.

The people there are not far from new technology and changes but their way of accepting changes is very different. Suppose toothpaste is used with Datoon, the house which has television is the theater for whole village, the person who knows speaking a little English is highly educated and so on.

The villages of north are even ahead then southern villages. Many of them have left their old Indian styles of living but some old age people are stuck with that. These things are missing in urban lifestyle, that I feel is very bad for building a healthy society.

The life here is like a slow melodious music. All work happens without any hurry, no one is running to reach anywhere, traffic settles down slowly, mob moves slowly. Somehow I am enjoying this slowness. I always dreamed about a calm and constantly flowing life and Bangalore is a perfect place to quench such desires.

Bangalore weather is always normal, even a hike in vehicles & pollution has not made it unlivable. Tree plantation everywhere absorbs the extra carbon mono-oxide in atmosphere. There are trees and plants everywhere in the city.

The main places one can see in Bangalore are:

1. Majestic Circle: The main bus station of the city with hundreds of buses standing in the depot at a time. Just after coming out of Bangalore City Station one can step into majestic circle and take bus to reach any part of the city.

2. Cubbon Park: This is a big park in Bangalore with various kinds of trees in it. In the middle of the park bamboo trees are grown in such a way, it looks like a bamboo castle.

3. Mahatma Gandhi (MG) Road: MG road is the favorite place for youngsters to hang around in the evenings. One can find food junctions, malls, multiplexes, roadside shops enough to do window shopping.

4. Lal Bagh: For beautiful flowers, trees, birds and sceneries one can go to lal bagh. It is calm and beautiful.

5. Bennargatta Park: One of the very green corner of Bangalore is Bennargatta Park. There are wild life sanctuary and zoo in the same place. One can go for wild life safari also. There is a beautiful butterfly park also where one can find information about almost all the species of butterflies in the world.

6. Iskon Temple: There are temples governed by The International Society for Krishna Consciousness all over India and one of them is in Bangalore. Iskon temple is mainly for the worshiping of lord Krishna. It is very grand temple and nice place to visit in Bangalore.

There are many other hangout places in Bangalore like shopping malls, restaurants, auditoriums, gardens etc. City is full of places, just stepping out of Bangalore station there are interesting things to see.

It is said that sage Jabali stayed and did all his prayers at this place and it is named after him only. People in Jabalpur are very frank and helpful. Jabalpur is mainly known for its Military center and white marbles.

There are various places to see in Jabalpur which are described as follows:

Bhedaghat: This is the place where white marble rocks are found. Mainly it is a water fall where river Narmada comes with full force and falls down and creates a breezy smoke. People call it “dhuandhaar” also. This fall is surrounded by plenty of marble rocks. People staying near this place earn their livelihood by selling articles made of marbles such as God, Monuments, and Ornaments etc.

Panchvati: After Bhedaghaat River progresses towards Panchwati. One can go for boat rides, take bath or just sit aside and view the river. River stays here at full force and has whirls inside. That’s why none is allowed to boat alone or swim.

Gaurighat: It is a sacred ghaat with the temple of goddess Parvati & goddess Narmada. One side of river there are so many small temples and another side of river there is Gurudwara (worship place of Sikh community). One has to commute by boat to reach Gurudwara.

Devtal: This place has a small lake, hilltop and a temple of lord Hanumana. From the hilltop one can get a view of half Jabalpur. In the lake boating is allowed and one can go alone for boating without any fear.

Gorakhpur: This is one of the busy markets in Jabalpur. One can get any commodity at this place but the prices here would be of sky range so it is recommended to do window shopping out here and buy the things from other markets.

Civic Center: Civic Center is situated in the middle of the city. Here one can find super markets, road side shops, restaurants, colleges, schools etc.

Tals: There are places with the names followed by “tal” such as Marhatal, Ranital, Soopatal, Phootatal, Hathital and Adhartal.

Rani Durgavati Museum: There was a Queen Durgavati who contributed her life for freedom revolution. Her fort was turned into a museum and people go there to see all old era things. One of the leading Universities of Madhya Pradesh is also on her name.

GCF (Gun Carriage Factory): The area surrounding Gun Carriage Factory is called as GCF estate. This place is under military jurisdiction.

VFJ (Vehicle Factory Jabalpur): This area is also under military surveillance. This factory is known for the Shaktiman trucks used for the commutation of Military people.

There are many places in the neighborhood of Jabalpur that can be visited if someone is fond of exploring India. Some of the interesting places are:

Amarkantak: Amarkantak is the origin of river Narmada and a sacred place too. It is majorly known as a students city because almost half of the population in pune is comprised of students. Because of students one can find lots of hostels, PG accomodations and flats on rent in Pune at very low rates. Mess and hotels are also in profits because of students.

There are places which are suggested to visit if you are in Pune like Shanivarwada, Sinhgarh, Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple, Chaturshringi Temple, Sambhaji Park, Saras Baug, Bund Garden and Katraj Snake Park. Lonavala, Shirdi and Khandala are some places which are not so far from Pune.

Weather in Pune is all time marvellous. Because of increase in pollution it is changed a bit but still during summer season the evenings will be as calm as early mornings and winter season chills and thrills only during night.

People in Pune are very friendly and simple. But due to some cheaters who cheat the outsiders for the sake of money no one trust any localite. My experience with the Puneites is very good. Whenver I required help, always someone was there to guide me.

Visitors, who had prepared for a cold walk in the clouds, warmed up to a white Republic Day evening Jan 26 as flakes of snow covered the Himalayan hill station in West Bengal, nearly 800 km from the state capital Kolkata.

Darjeeling does not get snowfall too often. 'I did not expect snowfall in Darjeeling this year. I am enjoying every moment. It is beyond our imagination. We will remember this experience forever,' said Pulak Bera from Kolkata, who is honeymooning in the hill station with her husband.

Places like Jalapahar, Ghoom, Jorebungalow, Tung, Dali and Three Mile in Darjeeling district in northern West Bengal were covered in ten centimetres of snow and the temperature touched two degrees Celsius. A severe cold wave has been sweeping through Darjeeling and Kurseong towns for the last seven days.

A shower Saturday evening brought the mercury down and the first report of snowfall came from Tiger Hill, at an elevation of 8,497 feet. The snowfall continued for over six hours till the wee hours of Sunday.

Places like Sandhapu and Falut, located at an altitude of more than 12,000 feet, lay under 30 centimetres of snow, reports said. 'We cancelled our return and decided to stay back for some more days,' Bera added.

'I visited Darjeeling earlier this winter, but never experienced such snowfall here. The trees and the roads were decked in white,' said another tourist Asim Chatterjee. Last year, Darjeeling witnessed snowfall mid-February.

The Supreme Court ordered the local authorities on the Andaman Islands to close the road in 2002, but they have kept it open in violation of the order, and have tried to get the order revoked.

According to the local authorities, the figure for vehicular traffic on the road was 17,315 in 2001, and rose to 37,505 in 2006. There were 27,674 vehicles travelling the road in only the first seven months of 2007.

Survival and local organisations have campaigned for many years for the closure of the road, warning that it brings settlers and poachers who steal the tribe’s game, introduce alcohol, and expose them to disease. Last year, the UN urged the Indian government to implement the Supreme Court order and close the road.

Survival’s director Stephen Corry said today, ‘As more and more people travel through the heart of the Jarawa’s land, the threat to their survival becomes ever more severe. If the Indian government is serious about preventing the extinction of yet another tribe, it must close the road.’

It is a place where Cauvery River drops from a height of 75m towards the Shivasamudram Falls. It takes maximum three and half hours from Bangalore to Shivasamudram. Driving through bike or car has its own amusement but one can take cab or bus also from Bangalore.

There are two routes to reach Shivasamudram: one route passes from Madur and the later passes from Kanakpura. Kanakpura route takes lesser time to reach Shivasamudram but the roads are not so good unless someone don’t bother about the back pain and jerks. Madur route also has some bad roads in between but far better as compared to Kanakpura roads. But both the routes can give the real view of South Indian nature, agriculture, villages, and people.

Located in Mandya district in Karnataka state, the Shivasamudram Falls has twin jumps, Gaganachukki and Barachukki, two kms away from each other. The view and the deafening roar of river are great. Each branch of the river at Shivasamudram has separate falls - the western falls known as Gagana Chukki and the eastern falls, Bhara Chukki.

Gaganachukki

At Shivasamudram, the river branches into two, creating the second largest island in its course. There are a group of ancient temples situated in this island. It is believed that very long ago there was a village in this island.

Barachukki

Two kms from Shivasamudram, which is popularly called Bluff, through green fields, dotted with multitudes of young trees lies the waterfall.

The place from where the waterfalls can be viewed will always be crowded because of attractive photogenic view of the nature. One can find many small stalls of black berry, cucumber, chaat, coconut water etc. While going back, one should not worry about the shortage of petrol in the vehicle. Most of the shopkeepers keep some petrol with them because the main medium of their commutation is luna or bike for which they need to keep it handy all the time. Petrol pumps are 12-15 kms away from falls.

There are many resorts available near Shivasamudram for visitors coming from various parts of India for South Indian tour. Fishing and mountaineering camps are also available near Shivasamudram falls. The forests near falls are like never touched beauty of nature and the some 10 km of areas stretched near the falls are full of trees and rocks.
Shivasamudram is a nice place to go during rains because then only one sees hearty streams of water. In other seasons the force of water is never like the rainy season. Anyone who is touring South India should spend some time to view Shivasamudram Falls. It showcases the perfect architecture of the nature.

If somebody wants to travel in India then he can see some of the famous places in India. If we see in larger context India can be divided into four Broad categories that is North India, South India, East India and West India.

North India: The major cities and attractions of North India are Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Udaipur, Varanasi, Gwalior, Khajuraho, Shimla and Uttarakhand. In Northern India Delhi is widely used entry point into the Country, being on the route of most major airlines. The various famous places that have ever been the center of attraction of whole world are Taj Mahal of Agra, Qutab Minar of Delhi, sacred river Ganga flowing from Gangotri till Bay of Bengal, fortress and temples of Gwalior-Khajuraho and hill stations, valleys and forests of Uttarakhand.

South India: The delightful South; almost untouched by the invasions throughout its history, the Indian heritage is more intact here than in other regions of the country. This is a land of temples, a land of the devout where new wonders await – the profusion of orange flowers, the shade of the banyan tree and the soft beat of distant drums as yet another festival starts. Main destinations for tourists here are Chennai, Kerala, Bangalore, Hyderabad etc.

East India: In no time at all the stimulating bustle and heat of Calcutta is left far behind, opening out to the cool and luscious mountains of refreshing Darjeeling. Encounter the mighty range of the Himalayas in Sikkim, the one horned rhinoceros in wonderful wildlife reserves, then dreams of a forgotten age in the ancient holy towns on the plains of rural India. The famous destinations of this part of the country are Orissa, Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Manipur, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Tripura and Sikkim.

West India: After the vibrant atmosphere of Bombay, allow the palm-fringed beaches of Goa to warm your spirit in the sun and relax your mind. Or meditate in cool and ancient Buddhist caves tunneled out of solid rock on the craggy hillsides – a dramatic contrast from the colorful fairs and festivals in unspoiled Gujarat. The choice is once again tremendous in this land that offers everything.

There are many toures and travel operators in India who provide various packages for travel in India. All the above places can be reviewed at the following sites:

http://www.mapsofindia.com/
http://www.indiatourism.com/
http://www.travel-library.com/asia/india/
http://www.info2india.com/
