The strategy gains some credibility from the dominant position that Motorola has in the newly merged Clearwire operator, the world’s most ambitious WiMAX-based mobile broadband plan. The vendor has 25 commercial WiMAX systems running so far, in 20 countries, and has trials and other projects in 49 countries.

And Moloney says LTE tests are progressing very well. “Our testing of LTE networks has demonstrated great forward movement .....we’re looking forward to carrying this commitment into 2009 and leading the market in further development and deployment of LTE technologies,” Moloney said.

However, the real test for 2009 will be whether Motorola can inject new life into its handset division and resurrect the plan to spin that off, perhaps in 2010. This will require strong implementation of the restructuring program announced last year, and this week, the company said it was accelerating the timeline. It has laid off 400 more employees in the fourth quarter than it had originally intended, incurring additional charges. In October, it unveiled a cost cutting program that included the loss of 3,000 jobs, with 1,500 coming in the fourth quarter. In fact, 1,900 people have now left, though the overall total has not, so far at least, been revised. The plan should save Motorola $800m during this year. Charges associated with the Q4 layoffs will now total $189m rather than $104m.

<img style="cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhwknJ8vtXzH8PTPojZOivZvAZvubxFxBoXa1Gk4MFrjSimdRqZ4uIOGBye2LHfXTmp2pBa0i61ALdQfODw9IUv1AIiF1sgXOH2o4sLyV_XfFYMnZ7PdsGE2nAIigkblRrhBwVPltURQ0Jk/s400/22373-53.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5216581883789202930" />
FREE unlock codes and the master security codes for nokia handsets provided

for more information make comment and th IMIE number....

MORE About the Proxy Servers

A proxy server is a server that does something for a client computer. Proxy servers are commonly used for
several reasons:
1. To allow a network, notably those on a private IP address range to share an internet connection through a dial
up facility within a small network. There are many proxy server packages available, such including WinProxy
and NetProxy amongst the small and simple packages, right up to MS Proxy server at the complex level, or
packages such as Squid on a Unix machine.
2. Cache and store frequently accessed content, thus reducing internet requests to access the pages or download
files, especially if you have a low bandwidth connection or pay for connection time perhaps on a dialup or ISDN
connection.
3. The final reason for using a proxy server is to provide some form of security to the network, both in terms of
blocking access to undesirable web sites etc, and also any potential hackers following the connection back
would find the proxy machine first rather than the client computer, a lot more difficult to break into than if it is a
Windows PC direct. Having said that, no proxy server is 100% secure.
Proxies are configured through the Internet control panel’s Connections page on a per connection basis, because
different ISP’s use different servers, and using a server not local to your connection can and probably will
significantly slow down your connection.
Proxy servers typically run on port 8000 or 8080 on the host computer, although Squid runs on 3128 by default,
so the chances if you have incoming connections from such a port it is a proxy server making the connection.
In general, if a proxy server is available it is a good idea to use it, but should it be overloaded, e.g. if you have a
consistently slower than expected connection than it could be the server that becomes a bottleneck and it may be
an idea to remove it if possible.

Assigning of IP addresses.

Apart from the private IP address ranges, which anybody can use, addresses are assigned globally by an organisation called IANA (The Internet Assigned Names and Numbers Authority).
This organisation assigns blocks of IP addresses to companies, including ISP's.
It is up to each companies IT staff how they use the addresses given, whether they give fixed addresses to each device, or use a DHCP server to disseminate IP address information to each computer on a network. Though there were over 4 billion IP addresses available, they were split up in such a manner that there was a great deal of waste. As the Internet began evolving from a research tool used by the government and universities, the waste needed to be eliminated. A new version of addressing was in the works, but it would be years before it was ready and years after that until it could be implemented. Something was needed to stem the tide of IP address waste until a new addressing scheme could be implemented. There had to be a way to distribute addresses in a way that was more closely tailored to the needs of groups receiving them. For this reason, subnetting was introduced. IP subnetting is defined in RFC 950. It was originally introduce in 1985 and was later updated in RFC 1812 in the middle of 1995 to include Classless Inter Domain Routing (or CIDR). Its purpose was simple: to break down large blocks of IP addresses into smaller, more easily manageable blocks. The original subnets were known as classful subnets. This refers to the boundaries between the sections of an IP address. When writing out an IP address, there are four sections, known as octets because each contains 8 binary digits. In base ten (or decimal) format, they are written out along the following lines: 192.168.100.100. The octet boundaries became known as Class A, Class B, and Class C. In a Class A subnet, only the first octet remains the same. In other words, if you have a Class A block starting with 192.0.0.0, you would have every address up to 192.255.255.255. That's over 16 million addresses, which is many more than all but the largest of organizations would ever need. Since there are only 256 Class A blocks possible, it was hardly feasible to give them out to anyone who wanted them. Class B and Class C subnets are much the same, except that a Class B's first two octets are static and a Class C's first three blocks are static. This provides 65 thousand or 256 addresses, respectively. While slightly more manageable, this still provided many more addresses than small companies would need and placed an undue burden on Internet Service Providers (or ISPs) who were responsible for routing traffic to them. Subnet masks are the method by which a router is able to tell how many IP addresses are in a block. They are written out to show how many octets are free in a particular block. They are written out in a form similar to the IP addresses themselves, as they are in four octets, separated by periods. A Class A subnet mask is 255.0.0.0, stating that the first octet is 'full' and the other three are empty. Likewise, a Class B mask is 255.255.0.0 and a Class C mask is 255.255.255.0.

What Is IP Address? Can I Hide My IP Address?

Whatever you might think, your Internet browsing is not actually a private
affair. Each of your use of the network is being tracked, including your
browsing histories, your chats, your blog and forum postings, etc. Even
though you might be using the Internet from within the secrecy of your
home, nothing actually is that secret. Your network's IP number lays bare
all your communication with the Internet.
IP refers to Internet Protocol. Every computer that is connected to the
network is provided an IP address by the service provider. The IP address
is actually a collection of four numbers. The first number indicates your
domain, the second number indicates your subnet, the third number
indicates your network and the very significant fourth number indicates
the host computer. By looking at all these four numbers of the IP address,
it can be found out which computer it belongs to.
Whenever you log on to the Internet, this IP address is relayed to the www.
When this happens, your computer is vulnerable to tracking. If you visit
any website, through the IP address it can be found out which computer
has accessed that website. Suppose it is a personal computer you are
operating from, then your name, age, telephone number, email id,
residential address and other identifying details can also be found out. In
other words, with the IP address, any computer in the world can be
tracked and that can lead to the owner of the computer.
Why are IP addresses tracked? Simple, for creating added security. When
the Internet was instituted, the system of identifying computers with IP
addresses was also begun. This was for defense purposes, so that no one
could take illegal advantages of the Internet. The process is continued
even today, with the only difference that it has become more refined.
Anyone who wishes to find the location of an IP address can do so, at a
fee.
Many people get all wound up when they hear about IP address. The first
question they ask is – can I hide my IP address? The answer is, yes. There
are methods by which your IP address can be masked or faked. There are
some software packages available that can route your computer's
connection through a fake IP relay system. This system will hide you IP
address and generate a fake one for you. This will be the IP address that
will go to the world wide web. These packages are available for retail and
download and are quite easy to install and use.
So, the next time someone asks you 'How can I hide my IP address?', you
tell them to get an IP masking software for themselves. With such a
device, you can enjoy your Internet experience without the worry that
some big daddy is watching you from somewhere.

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://fiveflowtechnologies.blogspot.com/2008/06/what-is-ip-address-can-i-hide-my-ip.html' title='What Is IP Address? Or
normally it can be said that a network that uses routers and public communication
links are categorized to be a WAN. If comparing with Metropolitan area networks
(MAN), Campus area networks (CANs) which are usually confined to a room, building
or a city, WAN is expanded to international boundaries as well. The best known
example of Wan is Internet.
WAN can be used to connect LANs and other types of networks together, so that
computers and users at one location can be connected to the users and computers to
other locations. Many WANs are built for particular organization and some are
private as well. Other are built by Internet Service Provider (ISP), provide
connections from an organization's LAN to the Internet. WANs are often built by
using leased lines. At each end of leased line a router is connected to the LAN on
one side and a hub within the WAN on the other side. Packet switching and circuit
switching can be used for WAN connection instead of leased lines. Network
protocols including TCP/IP deliver transport and addressing functions.

WAN CONNECTIVITY AND DATABASE CONCEPTS:

For active WAN connectivity the concept of Monitoring and Troubleshooting Active
Directory Replication is very essential. This concept is elaborated in this
article. Replication is defined as a duplicate copy of similar data on the same or
a different platform or system. When we are using a directory service such as
Active Directory, the database of directory is being carried by all domain
controllers,so that when you want to contact a domain controller for use, there is
always a local copy available for use so that requests do not have to be sent over
the wide area network (WAN) repeatedly for efficient processing and higher speed.
When talking about Active Directory, replication takes place and if any change is
committed in the data then a copy of the Active Directory database is stored and
updated on all other participating domain controllers on network ,to ensure
active directory replication each copy of the database should be the same and
all domain controllers have to be synchronized.
In the following figure you can easily understand that how two sites are
connected using WAN link. Here you can see a common network with a domain
controller at each location. The main benefit of having a domain controller local
to your PC’s at each network side is to have requests are the PC’s for need of
services to speed up requests and in case of disaster recovery, which could happen
if WAN link is dropped, the local PCs are still able to find a local domain
controller to use. Keeping traffic off the wide area network (WAN) and containing
it to the local area network (LAN) is the best design practice you can implement.

Firewall
A piece of software or dedicated hardware used to prohibit access to certain port/host combinations.
ftp: File Transfer Protocol
A way of transferring files between hosts on a TCP/IP network.
Host
Any device on the internet.
Host ID
The part of the IP address that identifies the specific host on the network.
Intranet
Use of internet protocols and software within a company/organisation for its own private use.
IP
Internet Protocol – the part of TCP/IP that provides for data transfer between hosts.
IP Address
The address(es) assigned to a particular host to allow it to communicate on a TCP/IP network. The syntax is ping <hostname> or ping <IP address>. It will either return a “Successful access in xxx milliseconds” type, or “Host unreachable”. If accessing a machine by name doesn’t work, but by IP address does, then the DNS servers are not configured properly or the remote DNS server is not working. If a “ping localhost” or “ping 127.0.0.1” comes back as a failure, then TCP/IP networking on the local computer is not working properly and needs looking at.
Ping attempts to connect to port 7 on the remote computer and wait for a reply. It is a powerful operating system that is easy to use and does a lot of its own housekeeping. But if you end up with a deadly virus or simply have some software and hardware conflicts, you're going to want to run a recovery routine to save your system from having to be reformatted. Starting from scratch is a monumental pain, so the next best thing is to make a Windows Vista recovery disk.
Instructions
Make a Windows Vista Recovery Disk
Steps
Step One
Start Windows Vista and log on to the administrator account. This will make it easier to get access to all of your most important files.
Step Two
Place a blank CD-R or DVD-R into the appropriate optical drive. There is no need to format this disk.
Step Three
Consider creating a folder on your desktop in which to place all of your most important files. This will make it easier to create a simple recovery disk later.
Step Four
Copy important files from their current locations to either the temporary folder you created, or simply right-click on them and select the "Send to" option followed by the drive letter of the optical drive. This will automatically spool the file to be prepped for writing to the disk.
Step Five
Burn all of the files you wish to keep for later recovery to the optical drive. This will not only allow you to install the files to the drive when you need to perform a system recovery, but it will also permit you to avoid formatting the hard drive.
Overall Tips & Warnings

* Consider creating a partition on your hard drive specifically for Windows Vista recovery. This will save you the trouble of creating a recovery disk, but it is also far more advanced (you need to be able to adjust your system's BIOS to detect the partition, for example).
* Always download the latest drivers for your hardware and software prior to creating a recovery disk. This will allow you to add those important files to the disk and save you the effort of upgrading later.
* If you do not have a Windows Vista installation disk (some computer manufacturers do not include backup software in their packaging), then you will need to call the manufacturer and request one. You should be provided one free of charge.

Top 10 Things You Can Do with Windows Vista

Top 10 Things You Can Do with Windows Vista

Just learning about Windows Vista? Here are ten cool things to try. You'll see why it's easier, safer, and more entertaining than earlier versions of the Windows operating systems.
1) Find that file in a few quick clicks

You don't need to remember folder names to be organized anymore. Save time by instantly tracking down any document, photo, e-mail message, song, video, file, or program on your PC using Instant Search. Just open the Start menu and begin typing in the Instant Search box— Windows Vista searches file names, application names, the full text of all files, and metadata, and then displays the results right away.
2) See everything you have open at a glance

Lost track of what files and programs you've opened? Flip through all your open files and windows with a simple click of your mouse using Windows Flip 3DA— you're just one click away from everything you're working on. Plus, in Windows AeroA, when you rest your mouse pointer on the taskbar, you can see thumbnail images of the windows you have open without having to expand them— so you can find what you're looking for at a glance.
3) Keep photos organized— and ready to share

Digital photo collection getting out of hand? You don't have to search through folders to track down the ones you want. Now you can tag your photos with a date, keyword, rating, or any label you choose so you can find them quickly and easily in Windows Photo Gallery. You can also use Photo Gallery to fix and edit photos, then share them with family and friends through slideshows, e-mail, or prints— so everything you need for photos is in one place.
4) Create a custom movie without a fine arts degree

Making a great home movie just got easier. Use Windows Movie Maker to blend videos and photos into a rich movie, complete with your own soundtrack, titles, and credits. When your masterpiece is ready to share with family and friends, you can easily create a professional-looking DVD in Windows DVD Maker.

) Keep track of your music— and play it anywhere

The larger your collection of digital music grows, the harder it can be to organize and keep track of it. But now you can easily scroll, flip, browse through, and play your entire music library in Windows Media Player 11. You can even create new playlists of your favorite tracks with a single click. Keep your music moving with you by easily synchronizing your portable music device, or share the contents of your entire library with other computers on your home network or with digital media devices such as Xbox 360.
6) Surf multiple waves of the web at once

Like to jump from website to website? Satisfy your appetite for multitasking without having to open several browser windows. You can open multiple webpages in one window and easily click between them with the tabbed browsing feature in Internet Explorer 7— plus, you can see thumbnail images of all your open webpages at a glance with Quick Tabs.
7) Record and watch TV on your time

Watch TV on your own schedule— not the TV networks' schedule. If your PC has a TV tuner, you can record, watch, and pause live television on your desktop or mobile PC using Windows Media CenterM. With multiple TV tuners, you can even record one channel while watching another. When and where you watch your shows is now up to you.
8) Bring your TV and PC together— and take home entertainment to a new level

Tired of huddling around the PC for entertainment? Connect your PC to one or more televisions in your home using a Windows Media CenterM Extender like Xbox 360, and enjoy all your digital entertainment on the big screen— from photo slideshows, home videos, and digital music to live and recorded TV shows and movies.
9) Keep the things you need most at your fingertips

No need to open a web browser to check traffic and weather, open a calculator to add up a few numbers, or open an application to see your calendar. Now you can put mini-applications called gadgets right on your desktop, where you can see and use them whenever the mood strikes. Just use the Windows Sidebar pane to store and organize your favorite gadgets.
10) Help your kids stay safer

Worried about your kids' computer use— or what they may encounter online? Now you can set boundaries on what your kids can do on the PC to give them a safer experience, using the centralized Parental Controls in Windows Vista. You can even restrict games and websites based on your family's values.
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/products/windowsvista/features/top10things.mspx

How to install DSL-200 in Windows Vista

Windows Vista allows to install Windows XP drivers which come with the DSL-200 modem on the CD. This tutorial will cover how to use Windows Movie Maker Version 2.0 and 2.1.
One of these versions are probably already installed on your computer if you use
Windows XP with Service Pack Two. If you are using Windows XP with Service Pack
One then you’re computer probably has an older version of Windows Movie Maker
installed. If this is the case, upgrade to Service Pack Two and Windows Movie Maker
Version 2.1 from the official Microsoft Update Website,
http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com
Windows Movie Maker 2.1 and lower are not compatible with Windows Vista. Another
version of Windows Movie Maker, version 2.6, runs only in Windows Vista, and can do
everything version 2.1 and 2.0 can.
If for some reason you have Windows XP with Service Pack Two but you don’t have
Windows Movie Maker Version 2.0 or 2.1 installed, then click on the link below and then
click on Download Now to download Windows Movie Maker Version 2.0:
http://www.download.com/Windows-Movie-Maker/3000-2194_4-
10187903.html?tag=lst-0-1
When the download is complete, open the setup file and run the installer if installation
does not start automatically.
If for some reason you have Windows Vista but you don't have Windows Movie Maker
installed, then click on the link below and then click on the Download button to
download Windows Movie Maker for Windows Vista:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=d6ba5972-328e-4df7-8f9d-
068fc0f80cfc&DisplayLang=en
When the download is complete, open the setup file and run the installer if installation
does not start automatically.
Video editing can require massive amounts of free hard drive space. For ensure
successful editing, I recommend that you make sure you have at least two gigabytes of
free space on your Windows hard drive (usually called the C drive or C:\) before you
begin editing.
Once you have Windows Movie Maker Version 2.0 or 2.1 installed on your Windows XP
computer, or Windows Movie Maker version 2.6 installed on your Windows Vista
computer, you can begin editing movies! Start by opening Windows Movie Maker.
To open Windows Movie Maker in Windows XP, click on Start, then click on Programs
or All Programs, then click on Accessories, then click on Windows Movie Maker. The
Windows Movie Maker Window will appear. If you don’t see Windows Movie Maker
under Accessories, click on the Entertainment folder under Accessories.
To open Windows Movie Maker in Windows Vista, click on the Start orb, then click on
the Search box. Start typing the phrase Windows Movie Maker into the search box.
When Windows Movie Maker appears above the search box, click on it. Looking for some PC speed up tips or ways to speed up
computer games? Does your computer unexpectedly crash at the most inconvenient
times? Well, join the club. The truth is that more & more people are starting to suffer
from sluggish and/or poor PC performance. Why is this? Generally speaking, it's due to
ignorance. People don't realize that there are many intricate systems working behind-thescenes
of their computers, such as the all too crucial registry. When something "bad"
happens and things go haywire, people cry "I didn't do anything out of the norm!" That's
precisely the problem, as their normal PC activity is what's causing the computer errors to
happen in the first place.
You have to understand that your computer greatly relies on the registry. Every program
you install and virtually everything you do is recorded by your PC's registry. In a sense,
the registry is the commanding officer of the computer, as it tells the computer what to do
and how to do it. Having said that, if this "commanding officer" becomes incapacitated
and unable to function correctly -- which can be caused by errors and invalid keys -- the
computer loses all sense of control and becomes utterly confused & disoriented. This
confusion leads to severe erratic behavior as well as a slow running computer. In short,
all hell breaks lose when the registry becomes corrupted with numerous errors.
It's important to know that practically anything can cause errors to occur within your
registry. This means opening files, launching applications, web surfing, downloading
games, downloading music, watching videos, uploading music, uninstalling
programs/games, etc. With all these different ways of being affected by errors, the idea of
registry error prevention is kind of silly -- unless of course you are EXTREMELY careful
when using your computer; and truth be told, most people aren't even "slightly" careful
with their PC related activity.
Typically, it is much easier to deal with registry errors after they've occurred than it is to
prevent them from happening. That simple fact leads us to the most important question of
all; how do I speed up computer applications?
The absolute best way to deal with registry errors is through the use of computer repair
software. The idea of trying to comb through every nook & cranny of your registry all on
your own is just ridiculous, not to mention downright crazy. A registry cleaner basically
does all the work for you. It quickly finds all of the abnormal entries & keys within your
registry, and then it repairs and/or removes each entry so that it can't cause your computer
any future harm. And if worst comes to worst, the software will have a "rollback" or
"restore" feature that will allow you to undo everything the computer repair software
removed and/or "fixed".As you can see, computer repair software is the best solution to get rid of annoying computer errors once and for all.
For more information on PC speed up tips, including a free Windows registry scan,
check out http://www.pc-registry-repair.com

PC in the Pocket

<a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" Okay, it's not such a secret - the company that makes
the tools we will look at here has been around for several years, and many people have used their
utilities.
To solve our problem, we will use two tools, NTRecover and LockSmith, from Winternals Software. This
company makes system utilities that every Windows admin should be familiar with. Their repair and
recovery tools give you access to NTFS volumes to let you modify the files that are keeping your
systems locked or otherwise unusable. The tools we're using here work together: NTRecover provides
access to the locked-out system, and LockSmith lets you change the password on the Administrator
account.
NTRecover lets you access any unbootable system - locked, dead, or otherwise inaccessible - by
connecting it to a working Windows NT/2000 system with a null modem cable. A special boot diskette
lets you mount the system's drives as volumes on an operational Windows NT/2000 system. You can
then copy, edit, or delete files (for example, those that might be preventing the system from working);
run Locksmith, CHKDSK, Explorer, virus scanners, or other utilities; and salvage files from the system if
needed.
Once you've connected to the locked system with NTRecover, Locksmith lets you specify a new
password for the administrator account. Even if it falls into the wrong hands, however, Locksmith's
powers are well contained: it preserves all attributes of the administrator account and does not change
or destroy any other information on the system.
To continue
Download here

Tips For Handling Storm-Damaged Hard Drives

File corruption and data loss often occur when it's least expected -- as a result of a hurricane, flood, or other
natural disaster. Yet even if business plans, financial spreadsheets or important emails are "lost" or appear to be
"gone," they are most likely recoverable if the appropriate steps are taken from the outset. Ontrack Data
Recovery™ operates data recovery labs equipped with cleanrooms to recapture data that has been corrupted or
seemingly destroyed due to natural disasters like hurricanes.
Rain and seawater harm the data stored on hard disk drives, tapes and other storage devices in two primary
ways. First, they cause electrical damage, which makes data inaccessible to the user. Secondly, when computer
media is submerged in water, water may leak through the protective seal of the hard drive, spreading dirt and
other contaminants onto the storage area.
When users find their computers submerged in water or buried under rubble, their first course of action should

successful recoveries:
· Never assume that data is unrecoverable, no matter what it has been through
· Do not attempt to power up visibly damaged devices
· Do not shake or disassemble any hard drive or server that has been damaged - improper handling can
make recovery operations more difficult which can lead to valuable information being permanently lost
· Do not attempt to clean or dry water-logged drive or other media
· Before storing or shipping wet media, it should be placed in a container that will keep it damp and
protect shipping material from getting wet. Wet boxes can break apart during transit causing further
damage to the drive
· Do not use common software utility programs on broken or water-damaged devices
· For mission critical situations, contact Ontrack before any attempts are made to reconfigure, reinstall or
reformat
· When shipping your hard drives, tapes or other removable media to Ontrack, package them in a box (we
suggest a box twice the size of your media) that has enough room for both the media and some type of
packing material that allows for NO movement. If the media can slide around at all, it is not ready to
ship. The box should also have sufficient barrier room around the inside edges to absorb any impacts the
box will take
· If you have multiple drives, tapes or other removable media that need recovery, ship them in separate
boxes or make sure they are separated enough with packing material so there will be no contact.

Clear the Page File (virtual memory) when shutting down XP

As mentioned above, the page file is an area of your hard disk that Windows
uses as extra memory space to store files and data that are currently being
used. Of course, since Hard drives are magnetic storage devices, and not
dynamic like Ram, the data stored in the page file stays there until it is cleared
or over-written.
This data may possibly contain unencrypted passwords or other sensitive
information since many third party programs do not bother to encrypt data
that is being passed to the memory, even though it may end up on the page
file. A simple registry change can force Windows XP to clear the page file each
time it shuts down.
