Am I the only one around here who LOVES Christmas?! The shopping, decor, the food, the tree.. I mean come on people! It's the best time of the year!!

And speaking of shopping...................

My big brother got four kid's that I am madly in love with. My mother and I have a big problem with picking up too much stuff for them. Wrapping these presents alone took me roughly 2 hours (cause I'm a terrible wrapper.. or perhaps it does take that long with that amount of toys??). I haven't even gone shopping for anyone else! All the presents under the tree now are for the kids only!

Xoxo, Nicole

An informative post!

2014-09-21T23:00:00.000-04:00

Can you believe that its almost October? I dunno' about you but all those great family-filled holidays will arrive soon then BAM - we welcome 2015. Sheesh la weesh! Where does the time go?

So I decided to share some info with ya'll.
(Yah know.. FINALLY posting something that is actually useful!)
Not that any of it may be useful to you but its always good to learn something new, right?!

Common age of deaths

No.. I am not a freak. But when you are in the medical field you are exposed to practically EVERY crazy thing in the universe and you become attracted to weird stuff like this. Read the article here.

The 27 club..

Many stars died young but many belong to the 27 Club. A list of other artisit/celebrities is here. I'm not sure if any of you know this but I have the biggest crush on Kurt Cobain. I love all of his music. My heart goes out to his daughter..

Walmarts Ad-Match Policies

This one is for all of you 'I hate Walmart!' people. What is there to hate about Walmart? There prices are cheaper, they have everything - but I get it. They are always crowded (never when I go at 7am) and no one helps you.. I understand my friend. BUT when Walmart price matches Publixs, Winn Dixies, CVS, Walgreens, Target, and all the rest - it's a no brainier!

Example: Lets say Publix has Honey Nut Cheerios buy one get one free (or BOGO). At my local Publix they are $4.50. So buy one at $4.50, get the other free! BUT @ at Walmart they are $2.98. At the check out I show the cashier that Publix has the cereal at BOGO price (must show current Publix or store sales paper unless the cashier trust you) and Walmart will MATCH IT! So I got my cereal for only $1.49 a box at Walmart ($2.98 BOGO) compare to $2.25 a box at Publix!

Another example: Winn Dixie has Bumble Tuna or Chicken of the Sea for $1 but it's $1.50 at Walmart. Show the cashier that it's $1 at Winn Dixie (showing the current Winn Dixie Ad unless the cashier trust you) and Walmart will MATCH IT! That's a saving of $.50.!

Although I buy a lot of store brand items at Walmart because its cheaper if there is a cheaper price I would ad match since it would be cheaper to buy the name brand item at BOGO price after its matched then to buy their already cheap store brand.

I dunno' how it is at your Walmart. So please.. if you do pick up this great saving technique and all fails; its a hassle to match, etc - don't sue me or kick my butt. I will tell you that every store follows their own thing (although they are suppose to follow what corporate says..) so you may be only allowed to match 1-2 items OR the cashier may not even know how to ad-match. Take into consideration that were all are only human and that miscommunication does occur. I never have had a problem at the 2 Walmarts I visit. The girls love me and never ask to see my papers - they just ad-match it all for me!

(I shop at several other stores besides Walmart but a majority of my shopping is done at Walmart)

The reason WHY you don't ever eat yogurt or anything at all!

Dannon admitted and see's no wrong with putting crushed bugs in its yogurt.
Nope. I am not talking crazy. You read right.
Article 1: here Article 2: here Article 3: here

It can't get any more nasty then this, right? Look for the following ingredients on your yogurt label!

Carmine - Crushed Beetles (Found in Dannon Strawberry, Blue Berry - Found in Publix Blue Berry, Black Berry)
Castoreum - Castor sacs found in beavers to locate territories by scent (Found in artificial vanilla and some berry flavoring)

Starbucks used to use carmine is there frapps but apparently do not anymore.

- Gelatin - is an protein often collected from anaimal skin (sorry vegans.................)

- Mechanically Separated Meat - Mainly found in hot dog but it other foods. Bones and cartilage of the animal is found in the meat when this production occurs

- Why some red meat won't brown while some does - carbon monoxide is injected into the plastic wrapping before its wrapped to prevent discoloration, some companies don't use carbon monoxide..

- Jelly Beans, Candy Corn, etc - Shellac, an sticky substance from an insect gives these candies it's shine

- Saltwater Injections - Injections made into meat and chicken to increase the weight size of the product and to give it flavor. Then people question why diabetes is on the rise - too much salt!

- Viruses - Are found in packaged lunch meat to make bacterial sick. Bacteriophage is its name

- Ammonia - Found in ground beef to kill bacterial

And this is why I am so careful with what I eat!

Whoah. I am getting sleeping. My bed is calling! I hope you all enjoy the info! <3

(I was not paid or asked to post any of this. I was bored!)

I dropped my best friend off at the local Work Force office. Her roommate and I decided to run around town and ended up at a park (see photo above of us sitting at dock). All was fine until Matthew friend called me screaming "Yo Nicole come now please hurry Matt's hurt hurry hurry I am serious hurry hurry" with Matt screaming in the background. My best friend, her roommate and I rushed to the hospital.

Took roughly 2 hours to get the first results back. Chest xray was beautiful but we were now waiting for the CT Scan. I already knew something was wrong as it doesn't take that long for a CT scan to be read. I kindly ask the nurse about the wait and she was said she wasn't sure but was order to give him a extremely high dose of a narcotic although he was given high dosages of morphine already. We gave each other a look since she knew I knew what that meant - nothing good.

The ER physician ordered an MRI because of the severity of the situation. There was too much of a mess going on and she needed to make sure 1000%. Sure enough although Matthew could walk, talk, and function after landing directly on his neck he fractured into pieces 2 bones that were extremely close to touching his spinal cord and dislocated 2 disc.

The ER physician (who was a amazing soul) pulled me aside and told me he was extremely extremely extremely lucky because in over 80% in these type of case the person normally is paralyzed in some way. She then went on to say he would need surgery and there was no need to place him in the ICU but to be worried about the surgery. That was the next step.

There was 1 in 8 people chance that the spinal cord may be injured during the surgery. We were all panicking. But everything turn out great. He's making a speedy, speedy recovery!

I'm sleepy. I'm not even sure if the previous I wrote made any sense, ha. Well, I hope every one's summer has been great!

Palm Bay, Fl

2014-06-18T23:40:00.000-04:00

For Fathers Day weekend my parents and I drove up to Palm Bay, FL (about 15 mins. near the Indian River Lagoon, Sebastian and Melbourne areas) to do some clamming. I have been stressing to my dad about hunting for clams and/or oysters for some time now. From my research the Indian River Lagoon appeared to be loaded with shellfish.... yeah.... right..... about 2-3 years ago..... before a bunch of douch bags came and wiped the area out...... (seriously.. if any of you guys read this.. please note you guys ruined a girls dream and our weekend with your selfishness.. anyways..) Fishermen from NY, NJ and Maine wiped out the ENTIRE lagoon (which is a HUGE area by the way..) and its surrounding areas. Locals told us fishing boats literally rake out the sand and picked up everything, including under size clams and oysters (which were illegal by the way.. apparently they were harvest elsewhere). Now I know your wondering; wasn't there anything saying 'Hey, there's nothing here!'? Well, not really. All of the local info was and is up to date in regards to the shellfish. We weren't aware that the lagoon & its surrounding areas were cleaned out. There is hope out there, there are many areas open, there are shell fish out there.......... but best believe you would need the best of luck to find anything at all. Although no one gave us hope, we went clamming anyways (as seen below). I enjoy anything.... the cloudy sky, the little crabs running by me, the shell picking..... I try to make the best of everything. But as we digged down there was only shells or dead clams/oysters (which of course made my heart sad). Literally a bed (about a foot down) of shells and other dead oysters and clams. We were so disappointed!! We went to several other areas and ended up with the same result. We did something called 'in water clamming' compare to mud clamming (we wanted to do mud clamming, we never knew there was such thing as in water). We did get attacked by a huge blue crab and was able to get a few snails and one huge weird species of mussel/scallop (seen below).

Next time I am going to call a few fishing shops around our suggested hotel and see whats up with the clamming. Were also going to try it in a different area, with my brother & kids, and when the weather get's a but cooler. Hey.. it didn't hurt to try!

I have a tiny polyp inside of my gall bladder. My GB is also infected and it's wall is thickening (cholecystitis). Last Tuesday I had a real bad attack but I decided not to visit the doctor due to work and school. When I was out of town I had no problems until after 10am on Monday within 15 minutes of eating a meal. The pain got worse and worse throughout the day. Not only was I having shooting stabbing radiating pain on my right lower under my ribs, I also was experiencing severe heart burn and pain all throughout my abdomen. I'm pretty tough and I can deal with pain (except for fevers, that I can't handle). Anyways.. after almost passing out in Walmart I decided to visit the ER. I thought to myself many times "Well mom has been experiencing some stomach pain.. Maybe I got what she got. No.. I know my body. The heart burn is from the stupid acid reflux and those darn stomach ulcers. My intestines are problem inflame too, cruse you gastritis. But the extreme sharp stabbing pain in my gall bladder? Probably a gall stone, or its not functioning properly. What. The. Beep."

And of course I was right. But lets get back to me almost punching the doctor in the face. So I was taken in immediately (no one was there). My complaint was addressed and the doctor began to poke me around. Immediately he suspected gall bladder. But as he poked me around I almost knocked him out. Seriously dude.. if yah see me crying.. if yah see me moving and begging you to stop.. finally I had to say "If you poke or push down on my stomach one more damn time.." He then ask "Other then this, how are you feeling over all, Nicole?" "I feel like punching everyone in the face", was my response. Everyone thought I was funny........ I thought I wasn't....... Blood work, an ultrasound and CT scan was done. The ultrasound tech almost got knocked out too. I had to push the damn doopler off me as she pressed down into me like she was trying to tenderized her steak. I'm human, not a T-Bone or hamburger meat.

Hours later and some wonder drugs (seriously, that was best medical induced high I've eva eva had, thank you), the doctor comes in and says roughly "Well, I'm surprise it's not your gall bladder. You defiantly have gastritis and a few stomach ulcers." We then go on about that. But of course I must ask, not my gall bladder, seriously?? I saw the gall stone or tumor or something on the ultrasound. He then says "Well there is an issue with your GB. There's a 4 mm polyp located on the posterior wall of the GB and the lining wall is thickening. It does indicate possibly acute or chronic infection. But I believe you're fine. I'm just going to treat you for your acid." Yeah. Okay. Tell that to my deep stabbing continuously throbbing radiating pain. Tell that to the damn attacks that last 2 minutes. Tell that to my swollen stomach painful stomach.

I was given Percocets and told to take it like a champ. After auguring with him for a good 10 minutes, I said fine and left it for what it was. I made an appointment with my doctor (cant go for another week) and he ask me if the ER physician was a rookie or an idiot. I told him neither.

So now I'm stuck at my parents house like a big baby lying in bed all day catching up on T.V. shows I didn't know that exist. I've been in a lot of pain. Now its manageable. There is very minimal continuous pain. But I dunno when the worse is coming back, but's going to come. I'm just going to deal with it as long as I can but I am 100% if it gets really bad again. I just hate when common sense is not presented in medicine...............

On a lighter note, Palm Bay was the most weirdest town I've ever been in. Here's a list of remember-able occurrences I ran into:

The guy in the room next to us named his dog God Damn it. The adorable pup was running loose and I decided to make convo with the owner to stress how cute the dog was but the guy kept screaming "Come here, God Damn it! Come here damn it!" I then ask him what was his dogs name and he said "His name is God Damn it. Come here damn it." I then ask him where he was visiting from and he told me he lived at the hotel with his dog, God Damnit. O.O

The first day my dad was talking to a bridge. Yep. He ask the bridge about the best locations for clamming. I dragged him back to the car. We then found a park because apparently my dad said that was where the bridge told him to go. We visit the ranger station and, I kid you not, he said the following to the park ranger "Hey I was talking to the bridge over there and it told me to come over here cause these are where the clams are not too far from here up the road..." Weirdest thing is that up the road was the best spot to clamming...............

I over heard a girl talking about how she use to sneak into construction sites when she was 5 to steal bags of nails and when she was 11 she was in jail for stealing chicken breast. Seriously?

When I got pulled over for running a stop sign in a parking lot. SERIOUSLY. In a parking lot. That darn stop sign couldn't be seen from space. The cop thought I was funny "Dude.. Not even NASA themselves can see could see that sign behind that trash can..... A blind dog could have spotted it out before me..... I'm 100% legit. Here's my valid driver license, tag, insurance.. just note I'm from Miami and I seriously don't have time to come all the way up here if you give me a ticket and if I have to go to court." He laugh, verified everything and said "Well you made my day. I could tell you weren't around from here.. your tan and you didn't run." He let me go with no citation or ticket.

I must go for now. I'm getting a tad bit sleepy.

She doesn't look forward to the ride..

Was 158 miles from home..

Stormy weather everywhere in our state..

I can't blame her for the attitude..

Family

I surprised my parents with taking a trip up and west of Florida to visit my brothers for mothers day and my dad's birthday. Our first two days were spent in Ft.Myers while the last two were spent at my brothers home in Lehigh Acres. The overall trip went by TOO FAST. First we were the packing (of course I was late when it came to time of leaving Miami - not unusual).. then the drive.. then dinner came.. next thing we were sleeping.. next day we were fishing.. lunch came hours later.. next thing you know I was taking a shower before hitting the sac.. then we were off to my brothers.. then it was already dinner time.. then bed.. then lunch time again.. then we left. I swear I looked at the clock at 1 then a half an hour later it was 4!

But it was fun. Next time it would need to be better planned out. The kids nor my brother knew we were coming; only his wife and my parents. The kids had a ball but it was a bit stressful since both of the animals were killing each other throughout the house. I was constantly trying to keep my cat at ease while the dog was biting my ankles.

Complete crazy damn weekend. But I love it. I wouldn't trade it for anything else.

Extreme high tide - 10 a.m.

Baby cuda

I find it ironic that as I spent yesterday at the beach my love was working close by looking over the ocean. (About 5-10 minutes away to be exact!)

The picture looks better on my phone..

I've been chillin' at the beach quite a lot lately. The sun, the sand, the warm water - it all feels so good for the soul. Except when you have a painful sun burn. I could barley sleep last night. My skin isn't peeling but it is warm and painful to the touch. And of course the areas affected are the of all the worse; upper thighs where shorts typically lay, around belly button where you zip or button, bra straps.. it's just not a good feeling. Thankfully it will all blend in as tan in another day or so. Of course I used sunscreen but..

I have been going to this beach/park since I was born. I have countless of pictures and memories here. The park is HUGE but a majority of it is water. The beach water is always clean, warm and non-salty (well, not that salty is what I mean..) I consider it as a inlet lagoon since the water comes in from the bay into the man-made beach. I'm not a fan of big waves. I love to tube against the surf back to shore but I'm not to crazy about waves. Matt the on other hand loves waves for bodyboarding.

I'm going to get back to my laying down and watching T.V. I hope the week is treating you all well.

Some people are crazy. It seems as though they just don't want you to be happy. How can one be enjoying their life and pretty much doing what they do need and still are randomly under attack? If leaving notes on a car and 'accidently' texting a persom from other numbers at 3am isn't bizarre I beg you to please tell what is.

Then I have to ask myself what have I done wrong. Some people are just crazy..

This cat loves to go outside but unfortunately I have to watch her because she is crazy (will attack ANY animal) and she loves to wander off into others yards (I don't approve of her entering ANY other yard besides my own). I thought it would be a good idea to get a few shots of her 'wandering around' although she hates being photographed.

She is honestly the cutest thing ever. If I close my door she will sit at the door crying and scratching on it trying to come in. I have to leave the bathroom door a little open because if I close it she will go crazy. She usually walks in to check up on me, even when I'm in the shower. Whether I'm in the living room, in the kitchen, sitting on the floor or even on the roof she wants to be right next to me. When someone knocks at the door she comes running towards them and greets them with a loud meow. She knows exactly when snack time is and runs around the house at about 45 miles per hour at least 6 times a day (including night). She is just so so so lovably cute!! She drives me crazy but I love her to death. That's my baby girl.

Photo Dump - deep sea fishing

2013-09-16T13:00:00.000-04:00

6am

Roughly 7-8 miles out, 1000 ft of water

I have been meaning to go on a trip with my dad for awhile now. I really don't enjoy the deep sea fishing. I'm not a fan of waking up so early and sea-sick pills that only last 1-2 hours. But my dad loves when I go and I wanted to see how his new equipment work. The fish seen above are snappers called Rosie's and they are as sweet as can be. They live in the very, very deep cool water of roughly 800+ feet and you need special equipment to catch them (as seen above). After dropping the line down (which takes above 10 minutes) the fish (who swim in schools) are attractive to a flashing green light. You then just bring them up! Rosie's have an extremely good taste because they live so fall down that they have very little to no interaction with pollution. They are defiantly worth trying!

I do apologize for the bulk load of pictures but they were so many to chose from I decided to show them all! All has been well on my end. School has been less hectic (knock on wood, don't get crazy on me!!) I am seriously thinking of purchasing my first little apartment next summer (in which I am really excited about). Life is just.... good. I hope your's is just as pleasant!

The other night Matt and I watched what I believe was the cutest animation I've seen in a while. The tooth fairy was of course my favorite character in the movie. I'm not going to spoil it for yah but I promise you'll love the movie and so will the kids!! It's called The Rise of the Guardians :)

Bucket List

2013-08-07T01:16:00.000-04:00

(Yes.. I do recognize the grammar errors and repeating but I am too lazy to correct!)

There is one thing I will always complete - a list I created of things I need to do. Although my 25th birthday isn't coming any time soon I figure a '45 before 25' was a good idea. I look forward to doing all of these things! I am proud to say I have already achieve one of my goals and I am currently undergoing a 'Once you go smoothie, you can't go back' era because of it. I have been experimenting with fresh fruits, veggies, green tea, and water or/and juice. I haven't gotten into adding milk or yogurt yet but I am not sure if I want to. I have thought about adding a dash of Green Goodness from Boathouse Farms but I'm not sure about that either (I got a couple free coupons for the product. Might as well use them, right?!).....

Some of my creations are; (all of which contain green tea & cold water)

- banana, kiwi, strawberries and green grapes

- kiwi, garlic, banana and green grapes

- red apple, cranberry juice, banana and green grapes

- blueberries, strawberries, banana and green grapes

- watermelon, strawberries and banana

- peach, strawberries and banana

- celery, banana, kiwi, green grapes and pomegranate juice

- carrot, lettuce, cucumber and fresh parsley

- red apple, strawberries, banana and kiwi

- pomegranate juice, kiwi and celery.

- pineapple, banana, and kiwi

- and plentiful of more!

Okay.. so I haven't been making a lot of veggie smoothies because I am kinda' afraid to! Last thing I want to do is created another veggie disaster. Any suggestions lovely people? Does any else thing my smoothies are a little nuts like my family? My boyfriend said I remind him of a rabbit, my mom rather eat it then drink it, my dad thinks I need to add milk and yogurt and my brother assumes I am preparing myself for the army - ha! Regardless of what they think or say this 2 cups of roughly 8-16 ounces each of goodness has been so beneficial I don't even know where to begin! My brain is happy, my skin, my colon (sorry for TMI), my metabolism and the list goes on.

Back to the list; do you have a list? Are you having trouble reaching your goals or are you on scheduled? I really should get to that 'learn better sleeping habits' as it's 1:10am!

Evening rides are the best. Except when you almost run over a young girl with your bike. (I am really, really sorry again..........) Other then that, evening rides are good!

6612. That's the number of photo's and videos I have taken with my Canon Powershot since February of 2011. This includes shots that were taken by accident, deleted photo's, stupid videos and all the rest. Never would I have thought I have taken that many with just one camera!
