FIGHTING IN SCHOOLS - A NEW APPROACH?

It has been 50 years since boxing was last a common place sport taught in schools across the UK. In 1962 there was great debate about whether it was actually beneficial for the youth to learn how to box, as many claimed it was just legitimising of an already over glamorised and often turbulent sport.

The ‘British Medical Association’ have a very negative view on the subject of children under the age of 16 boxing, they believe at that age “children have little awareness of risk” and also state that “there is no place in contemporary society for a youth sport which has as its primary goal, the infliction of acute brain damage on an opponent”.

Boxing as a ‘youth sport’ is often defended as a legitimate and controlled way of relinquishing pent up anger and instilling discipline amount young people, but is this the case?

I spoke to Ron Tulley, who in November was appointed as ‘Head of Development’ at the ‘Amateur British Boxing Association’. I asked Mr. Tulley a number of questions regarding the subject; when I asked him whether he thought boxing in school was benefiting children he said “of course they are, if it’s being done properly”, I went on to ask Mr. Tulley if boxing promotes self control at a young age or actually has the inverse effect, to this he replied “it does promote self-control...like most sports, if your abiding by the rules and playing in the ethos of the sport then it can have a wonderful effect on young people”. To conclude I asked him about the study done by the British Medical Association, and their claims that boxing causes brain damage, he said “far be it for me to contradict the BMA” he went on to say that other sports such as “equestrianism” were more likely to cause injury and that amateur boxing is so “well regulated” that injuries are few and far between, my final question was regarding te recent headlines based on the events between David Haye and Derik Chisora, to which he replied that “it’s not up to the amateur boxing association to make a judgement” however he did state that “it doesn’t make my job any easier” when trying to promote the sport to children and their parents.

Clearly then, there are two very contrasting opinions on this matter and research suggests that yes, boxing is a dangerous sport, but that is always going to be the case when you have 16 stone heavyweights going blow for blow. However Mr. Tulley did emphasise the distinction between professional boxing and amateur; amateur boxing regulations state it is mandatory for a boxer to use head protection at all times while sparring and there are only fights of three rounds compared to the professional twelve, he went on to state that amateur boxing is very well regulated.

If you were to remove the confrontational aspect of the sport, it is undeniable the cardio-vascular benefits a sport such as boxing can have; getting children strong and fit can only be seen in a positive light. The problems arise when the confrontational aspect is re-introduced, as there is no way to hide the fact that the aim of a sport like boxing is to hurt your opponent, and I’m not sure you can justify that. Having said all this, regardless of the recent headlines, boxing throughout the history of this country has been a cornerstone to the youth; boxing halls were set up virtually on every corner in the 1950’s and it was the perfect way to get the children fit as well as keeping them off the street and out of trouble. Perhaps this will be the case again in the coming years, as the youth are taking a lot of bad press and perhaps learning to box could be the solution?

I think the distinction between professional and amateur boxing is the key, as they are two very different disciplines in many aspects. To be seriously injured in professional boxing is rare; however it is even rarer in the amateur ranks. Going back to my original point, I think it would be best to think of the situation of boxing I schools like this; in a supervised environment, with safety gear on, just how much damage could a 10 year old inflict upon another? The sport has been victimized by the media on a number of occasions for the events in the professional ranks and this in turn has impacted the amateur sport.

Whichever way you spin it, boxing in schools and in amateur clubs is once again on the rise, and even with negative press it’s going to continue to do so, the only way that boxing is going to recess once again is if a minor was to be seriously injured while boxing, which would create a media storm that would once again cripple the sport in amateur terms.

Kanye West is an American Rapper,who has relseased his 10^th album recently. Seeing peak success during the ‘noughties’ and his 2010 album saw him hit record sales. With His long term girlfriend Kim Kardashian he has never been far from the spotlight and has often seen controversy, such as the time he walked on stage during the grammys and told Tayloer Swift that Beyonce should have won that particular award.

Kanye West’s latest album comes at an interesting time; as the album was relseased a week before his baby was born and it is his first release in quite some time. The album was famed before it was released because of the huge lengths that were gone too to ensure that the album didn’t leak, including a bomb-proof case that contained the only copy of the entire album however ironically the album ended up being leaked anyway, many claiming that it was kanye west himself who leaked it to increase the PR. The ablum name is worth looking into, as Kanye refferes to himself as ‘yeezy’ at times during songs and this has lead to the ablbum name; ‘Yeezus” is reffering to kanye being the new coming of jesus, or at least he compares himself to a god-like figure.

The ablum is fascinating, whether you look at his lyrics or the melody of the songs, everything is deisgned to be unique and to shock the audience. Firstly I would like to talk about some of his lyrics because they are for one word: shocking. I am an avid fan of rap music and an usually never shocked by the often crude language however kanye west goes a step further in his song “new slaves” as he talks about a very sensitive subject, race, and his lyrics depict his opinion of how the public is racist or at least the music industry is, when talking about signing a contract within the song a lyric says “you know n***as cant read”. This is highly contravertial and gives evidence to the tone that Kanye West is trying to give, possibly to prove to the media and the public that once you become famous enough, it doesn’t matter about what music you produce but only that it has your name on the front.

Having studied many review of the album I have been trying to answer the question that seems to crop up on every review, which is, is this man totally stupid? Or is he a kind of genius to realize the gap in the market and the medias power to publisice his new album with no cost to him. Personally I think that Kanye West knows exactly what he is doing ,he knows that the unusual melodys will appeal to fans as an alternative to the stereo typical chart music and mainstream Hip Hop and he knows that talking about delicate subject in such an object manner will cause a reaction which wether the comments are good or bad will inevitably drive attention towards his new release, which ultimately is his goal.

If we are talking in the most technical sense, the album is very good. Ignoring the odd sounds used, the quality of sound and the level of production is very high. And the impact of the album on a whole is very impressive, as it is rare that I ever listen to a whole ablum more then once all the way though however I found this album to have deepness that I couldnot grasp straight away. I found myself relistening to lyrics and hearing new things with every listen, which is an impressive characteristic.

If I give my own humble opinion to the overall Album I would say that although the album has a musical theme, every song is distinct in its own way and this will often result in half the album appealing slightly more than the rest and I found that to be the case after a few listens. I fear however that Kanye West has tried to replicate the very difficult ‘style change’ that can make an artist reek of desperation to remain relevant, which could be said for snoop dogs recent change to an all loving, peace hunting reggae artist. Another thing I considered was the listen ability of the music on a wide scale of environments, and I conclude that on big powerful speakers the depth of music is incredible however on any other less impressive set up you will be left feeling unfulfilled and unimpressed.

Kanye west could well just be trying to stay in the headlines or maybe he really does want to change his musical style. The albums audience would not be a clear set demographic however it certainly is not for the older or younger generations due to the appalling language throughout.

It is an album that I would defiantly have in my collection and I think that it will become quite a classic in years to come, unless of course this musical style catches on and becomes the latest trend in Hip Hop.

So we all know Santa isn't real. We all know that our parents sort our presents out.

what we don't know is that this time of year is all wrong.

Christmas is basically all about presents and getting drunk, and that means that it would fit perfectly into my summer schedule. WHY IS CHRISTMAS NOT IN JULY?

"..oh its the birth of Christ" i hear you say.......so what? do you celebrate Jesus day? no you celebrate present giving day like everyone else.

seeing as Christianity is basically running out of people to prop it up, there is no reason why Christmas cant be in summer.....that way we could have beers and barbecues on the day and not have to endure that awful mulled wine shit.

one day you work, get your sweets, and then someone who has done no work, comes and takes some of your sweets.

then someone says "hey, there are people with lots of sweets, and other people with no sweets....this is not fair"

so they change the rules and decide that the state will force everyone to work, then distribute the sweets evenly......but soon people realize that the people giving out the sweets are taking more sweets for themselves.....so they decide to illegally sell sweets in secret.

the moral of the story is : work hard and rake in those sweets, and if you dont work hard then dont expect to have any of other peoples sweets.....because you will never find a place where everyone has an equal share of sweets due to the natural greed of humanity and so it is your job to make sure you have the most sweets.

A world war is a near impossibility. How can the whole world fall out over the same thing?

Well they cant. A world war is when two world powers fall out and then the rest takes sides or hide under a rock. World war II was between Britain and Germany, the reason is not important.

I am going to bet that in under 10 years time, there is going to be another world war, this will be between America and China.

As most already know, America is in huge debt. What most people don't know, is that America owe most of that debt to China. China is going to pretty soon overtake America as the new world super power and they want what is owed to them. America knows that they cant afford to pay China back in full, so what they are doing is rather clever; America is printing money like there is no tomorrow. Billions and billions have already been printed, all in high domination bills. The money is so vast that it cant be introduced into circulation or else it would cause hyper inflation like you wouldn't believe Printing the money is fine, as long as you have the gold reserves to match the papers worth. The problem is that America now has far more paper currency then it has gold and this is driving the worth of their currency down. As the american currency becomes weaker, the overall debt to China goes down due to the fact that the world trading currency is dollars.

If america owed $1 billion for example, and they print large amounts of paper currency without gold counterpart, then the debt might reduce to $800 million if you measure it by the original worth of the money.

China has worked this out, and they are now doing all they can to change the world trading currency into Chinese currency to thwart Americas attempts to dilute the debt. This however is not working, and i reckon that it will result in war.

Time will tell, but as it stands, China hold the better hand and america knows it.

As all of you reading this will be aware, America is undergoing a huge storm. The east coast of america is going to be in ruins if the storms reaches its maximum potential, the worrying thing about this is not the deaths (however, all deaths are tragedy's in their own right), the problem is this:

Obama held talks the other day with the Global Insurance conglomerate and they basically said that they have financial reserves of roughly 200 billion (USD). This is a large amount of money right?

Well no, it isn't If New York gets the same treatment from mother nature as Hati, then the Insurance big wigs reckon that not only will they not have enough money to cover it, but they doubt that it is possible to raise enough funds to EVER cover it. Simply put, if NY gets totally wrecked, then it will be 10 years before it resembles anything like how it is now. This is not good news.

Another thing to consider while sitting at home, is that there is an Election soon, right?
Im not a historian but i cant recall a US election ever having been called off?

This is an issue more for Romney because at the end of the day, in an emergency, who cares about voting when people are dying? If the US declares a state of national emergency then the President can become Commander and Chief (a role he always fills, but does not always employ) if he becomes commander and chief then he is in total control until he declares the state of emergency passed, again, a bad thing for Romney.

I do not subscribe to the latter theory but it has been claimed that the Americans have developed a electro-magnetic device, that fired into the atmosphere can create storms such as the one being seen now in American itself. Some people also claim that by creating a state of national emergeny, they can close the stock market, employ a dictatorship under the guise of a emergency council and implement FEMA (rehabilitation camps, some argue to be prisons). Is this the Illuminati? is this storm the start of the new world order, IS THIS '2012?!

I am not claiming any of the previous to be true, but it has crossed my mind.

The Hypocrisy of Anonymous

I have a friend who claims that he is a member of Anonymous. I have a friend who claims that you cannot be a 'member' of anonymous because that's the whole nature of the organisation. Theses two friends are in fact the same person and I am now going to explain why the activist group "anonymous" are hypocritical and how they are pawns in there own chess set.

The basic premise to anonymous, as i understand it, is that they are a group of like minded individuals who are against secrecy of wrong doing within large corporations. Sounds legit, right?

As I mentioned before, they pride themselves on anonymity, however there large majority insist on wearing the mask from "V for Vendetta", which hides there face yes, but make the organisation 'anonymous' no longer so.

Personally I think that this group are effectivly hypocrites, after all was it not Hitler who campaigned and preached about the disastrous government and then when he got into power he took all freedom away? What im saying is that they themselves do not uphold there own values, as they are trying to remove the ability to be anonymous and yet they are anonymous?

Another thought for you:

is it not possible for this group to be initiated by the establishment? would it not benefit the government to find a scape goat in order ovoid any blame?
Anonymous are registered by the authorities as a terrorist organistaion and this just proves my point. Anonymous are hypocrites, they make out like they are in the same vein as the sufferegettes and the like, however they aim to dominate and remain anonymous themselves while hating those who have the power that they so desperately crave.

Some believe that the 2012 Olympic games will be the host for a fake terrorist plot orchestrated by the underground organisation the 'Illuminati'. But is there any evidence for this?

There was a lot of conspiracy theory's about 9/11, which i will not get into; 9/11 and 7/7 both had several media clues before both events that are beyond coincidence and it is possible that the same thing has happened regarding the 2012 games. (Panorama made a program which turned out to detail the exact events of 7/7).

There was a BBC program that was aired a few months ago, that looked at the implications and effects of a nuclear bomb at the 2012 Olympics, is this a sign?

The Olympic mascots this year are some of the most basic clues to the Illuminati's involvement, as they depict the 'all seeing eye'and the capstone of the revered Illuminati pyramid (seen on american currency):

Added to that, the Official Statue/sculpture of the 2012 games, is a 9 meter abstract spider, however it is the name of the spider that has caught the attention of the world. The sculpture is called the "spirit of Zionism". Zionism is a age old religion that has had close links with the Illuminati and the Lord mayor of London said at the grand opening, that this sculpture was "in keeping with the Zionist theme of the 2012 games".

We have all seen the 2012 logo for the up coming Olympics, but if rearranged it spells Zion:

Some say that this is just scaremongering,but why the dot in the middle, is it needed to spell '2012'? As i have shown above there are a lot of 'coincidences'. Even the Iranian government picked up on the above and threatened to boycott the games if the symbols were not altered.

But why would the Illuminati want to bomb the Olympics?

well as has been proved by 9/11, any orchestrated form of terrorism will be compounded by all the clishé terrorist groups, as it is them who will happily take the credit. The Illuminati believe :

For those of you that follow British Politics and other related news will be aware of the current ongoing inquiry into 'phone hacking'. This court case has now escalated and has brought not just celebrity victims to the stand but also high value politicians such as Tony Blair and most recently David Cameron as the inquiry decides whether there was any foul play by ministers and PMs regarding the media coverage they recived.

This is rather a complex subject, and whilst i don't want to 'dumb it down' too much, i feel that getting into the fine detail would be irrelevant to help me explain and examine what i intend too.

The basic jist of what has been happening most recently in the inquiry is this: Politicians are being accused or meeting with high ranking editors and even owners of national newspapers and engaging in 'under the table' deals in order to secure support from that particular newspaper. As im sure you know, all national papers have some sort of general political slant, for example, during the time of Tony Blair the SUN newspaper was in high support however when Gordon Brown succeeded him the sun made a controversial jump over the 'political neutral zone' in favour of the conservatives. David Cameron has this past week been attempting to convince the court that there was no 'foul play' involved in that aforementioned event and that no such immoral behaviour ever occurs.

David Cameron did however seem rather shaken up by then end his time in the stand, often referring back to his "foggy memory". The evidence however did not look good for him, he met with James Murdoch (son of Rupert Murdoch, who owns the largest share in the media industry in the world, including many of the main national newspapers in England) 15 times while he was in opposition and has been stated to have met with over 1,000 journalists during his political career.

Irrelevant to the evidence, all of which is circumstantial, David Cameron denies that there is a "nod wink" relationship between the Tories and the Murdoch family.

I am focusing on the Prime Minister because of his position, but there has been a whole host of high ranking politicians, and journalists who have crawled out the 'woodwork', all have been making accusations and all have been accused in equal measure.

Apart from outlining the recent events in the inquiry i also want to give my slant:
When you are talking about media and politics, it is important that you consider that it is a fine equilibrium; Media keeps politicians in check simply by posing the threat of negative press and Politicians keep media in check through its legislation and such like, however in many ways the two subjects are like 'oil and water' but in other ways they are like 'fish and chips' (cant have one without the other).

When corruption creeps into politics and media...then both entities collapse and that is what is being investigated in this inquiry, personally i feel that the people of power have attained and remained in power through the deals that no one knows about, with lots of 'winks and nods'. Time will only tell what is uncovered, but hopefully both the Media and Politics will be the better for it.

Football Violence

Euro 2012, is a football competition that pitches all European nations against each other.

The current competition is being hosted by Poland and Ukraine, which has caused some controversy. Poland has long been renowned for its football related violence, having one of the highest football related crime rates in Europe. Many worry that having such a large competition in Poland could be a recipe for disaster, and even though we are only a day into the competition, there has already been problems.

14 people have been arrested in Poland following a brawl over the Ireland vs Croatia match, which is yet to take place. Polish police have confirmed that 10 of the individuals arrested were polish and that the brawl included glass bottles and chairs being thrown.

My question is, who made the final call that resulted in Poland being chosen as a host nation? It has been well documented that football violence is rife in this country and why would this change for an international competition? The aforementioned brawl is not the only 'hiccup' so far, as Russian fans have been documented to have attacked stadium stewards during a game this week. Russians fans have also been accused of Racism. This all has occurred within the first week of the tournament and if occurrences like this continue, it could prove a disaster for Uefa.

Football fans by enlarge are peaceful and patriotic and simply enjoy watching the sport with the hope of there nation succeeding, but there are those who take this a step too far and decide to use violence. I am not accusing polish football fans of being violent, but you cannot deny that there are more football related violent incidents in Poland then in most other nations and i worry if letting Poland host the Euros was such a good decision.

Time will only tell if things get worse, but there are concerns that travelling supporters run the risk of being targeted by violent gangs while in Poland and this is something that must be addressed if the competition is to continue. The Euros is a fantastic opportunity for Poland and it would be a shame for the nation to be tarnished from violence.

Diamond Jubilee

As many of you will be aware, regardless of what country you live in; this weekend is the Queens diamond Jubilee.

This is a celebration to celebrate 60 years on the throne for the Queen of England, Elizabeth II. I am not interested at looking at her 60 year reign, I want to explore the festivity as an entity. In England, we are having a 4 day weekend in celebration, with what is effectively a 'double bank holiday'....but is this really necessary?

I am a fan of the monarchy and feel it is justified to celebrate such a momentous occasion, but 4 days seems to be a bit excessive. In my village, as I'm sure in most other locations around the UK, there is a street party which has become the conventional way to celebrate monarch related holidays such as coronations and jubilees. What i find amazing, is how much preparation and alteration there has been for this single event; hundreds of roads will be closed and thousands of shops will be closed.

i spoke to the owner of my local shop yesterday, and I asked him if he was to be open during the bank holiday, and he told me that although he should close, he had no option but to open because as he said "if we close, we make no money, and yet i still have outgoings". This huge celebration seems a bit in excess, especially when you consider the amount of money that is being spent, and I thought we were in recession? It is not just the weekend that has cost the tax payer, but the queen also went on a tour of her sovereign states, including Jamaica and Australia, again at the tax payers expense.

I am indeed very happy for the Queen to reach this huge landmark, and I do agree that it should be a cause for celebration, but in this time of financial difficulty, could it not have been done is a slightly more low key manor?

Just a thought, obviously.

Michael Jackson was possibly the king of pop music, and his music is possibly the most well know in the world. My issue is not with his talent, which is undeniable, my concern is the individual himself. I am aware that it might seem distasteful to criticize someone who has passed away, but criticism is not my intention. I want to look at the effects success had on Michael Jackson.

Forget your Justin Bieber's and Lady Gaga's, Michael was the biggest and the richest musician that has ever lived, he was also the most famous, this is not mere opinion as it has been recognised by the guinness book of world records. This man has contribute more to dance, fashion and music then any other individual dead or alive and this is why he saw such success.

Sadly however Michael Jackson was not perfect, his huge wealth led to the development of an addiction to spending; Michael was infamous for spending literally millions per binge and this led to his financial demise. By the end of his career he had sold 750 million records and won more awards then any other artist in history but he was tainted from constant negative press and his addiction to spending money. Michael received huge media attention when it came out that he had been having medical assistance to change the colour of his skin, and although he denied this to start of with, it became clear pretty soon that he had in fact had his skin bleached; this was an act that lost him a great many supporters, particularly in the African-american community. Such was his overall popularity that any amount of negative press would not dent the millions of fans he had over the world. Another scandle that tainted his reputation was that of Child molesting, and although nothing was ever proved, it didn't help his wavering supporters.

The addiction to spending money was the result of what was reported to be a $900 million fortune, some even claim that his bank balance alone reached levels close to this which would have made him the first billionaire musician if you take into consideration his assets and the music catalogue he owned, including all of the Beatles tracks which he reportedly paid $46 million for;however much of this was rough estimation and speculation. There was also another side to Michael; by the end of his life in 2009, he had donated £300 million to charity's across the world and although he had received so much negative media attention over his career, he funeral in 2009 was the most high profile in history, with over 1 billion viewers across the world.

To summarise: Although flawed, Michael Jackson was and is the Most successful and most loved musician ever and he has donated more money then any other celebrity. Arguably money corrupted him slightly and at times his fame hindered him, but over all he was a man that standards are now set by and that is a feat to which all can strive for.

Chelsea

I am a Chelsea fan. (for those who don't know, Chelsea is a English football team).

This team is owned by a Russian billionaire, who has made a reputation for having no limits to what he spends of this football club, most recently splashing out £50 million on Fernando Torres. Some people claim that money has been the key to his success, effectively 'buying success', but is this a bad thing?

There are teams in the world who will only accept players who were born local to their area, regardless of that teams finances, and other teams such as Barcelona and Manchester City have spent vast quantity's of money importing the best talent from around the world to their respective clubs. The afore mentioned teams have indeed seen success, with Barcelona being renowned to be the best club in the world. But the money spent in this industry has always been a contentious issue. The English football regulator, the "FA" are planning to take steps to prevent this money monopoly by implementing rules that state that if a football club does not turn a profit every year, then it will face punishment in the form of a fine or a positional penalty, which they think will eradicate the richer clubs from throwing money around and achieving success merely from the level of investment.

Let me ask you: When purchasing a car or a watch, are you not of the opinion that to a degree the more you pay, the better quality you receive? A £30 watch will not be made to the same standards as a £500 watch, and obviously there are watches, in the same way that there are cars that cost a disproportionate amount of money, but that does not invalidate the point, would you not agree that when owners of football clubs spend more money, they are not buying success but investing, and success is a product of their investment?

The point im trying to make is that we do not live in a communist society, and there will always be financial differences, particularly in competitive sports such as football, and that should not be taken as an unfair advantage but rather seen as something to which all should aspire.

If you live in England, im sure you will be aware of the sweltering weather that we have been experiencing of late. But today, while basking in the sun, i found myself caught short in what can only be called a monsoon. I spent the following 10 minutes securing my windows and such like, but by the time i had finished, it was sunny again.

I am all for changing weather conditions, but to go from one extreme to another in the space of ten minutes if a bit of a joke. I am a fan of all weather conditions, but i want to know that when i wake up, i will know what weather to expect based on the season, so if i have to endure pouring rain in shorts, then i will be less then impressed.

There is no real point to the post, but i felt that it was worth a rant because it annoys me and im sure many other people around England.

I am new to this whole idea of writng about random subjects and them posting them on the internet for other people to read, and i have to say that it is tough work. My main concern would be that nobody would see my blogs and if they did, they would have little interest. I decided to keep my blogs short to start of with, and cover a number of topics that would appeal to the mass audience, but at the same time i want to try and get more views and comments. There is little point in writing about something if nobody is going to read it, and this is the main challenge with online blogging.

some people would argue that it is not an active persuite of readership, but rather a release of emotion of the harnesing of a passion; i do enjoy writing and i can see how this blog could be used as a 'personal diary to the world' but i want to write to please, entertain and to intruige people, and without a readership this is impossible.

I am not a fan of self publication, i believe that if a person likes your material enough they will return for more or share it with there friends. But lets get the ball rolling first? it would help me if you are reading this to share it, so that i can increase my audience.

Justin Bieber, possibly the most famous person on the face of the planet right now. Justin has sold millions of records and his music video for his hit single "baby" has over 700 million views, but why is he so popular?

Personally i don't like Justin Bieber, because i feel that he is a representation of the corporate nature of pop music. Justin does not write his own music, nor does he produce any of his own material. The same can be said about what he wears and what he says to journalists, all of these things are or-castrated by his huge entourage. When Justin finishes singing his lyrics in the studio, a team of experts tunes his voice digitally to give the listeners the impression that this young music star has the perfect voice, which is of course not true.

It is a illusion created by a corporation, he has talent and he is a good looking guy, but he has been moulded and altered in every conceivable way to appear to be perfect. Although you cannot deny his success, if you take into consideration the amount of money and help that he has received it really is no surprise.

I make a point of avoiding most chart music, because i am not a fan of what i call the "auto-tune generation", i prefer artists who not only write there own material, but wear what they want and are not mere puppets for a large music label, artists such as Ed Sheeran. Ed spent his early career touring around pubs and clubs getting any gig he could, and a few years ago he made his break by featuring on the YouTube music channel "SB.TV", and since then has seen global success. Ed's voice is genuine talent, he writes his own music and lyrics and always has huge involvement in the theme and creation of his music videos.

Maybe it would be harsh to blame Justin for what he is, maybe it is the fault of the large record labels and the corporate nature of the music business?

England and the Euros 2012

As im sure many of you are; I am a football fan. This year sees the Euro 2012 international football competition, and as usual the team is full of multi-millionaire football stars, and yet this is a competition that we as a nation have never won.

Personally I think this is not due to the quality of the player available to us, which are amongst some of the very best in the world. I think it is due to the fact that win or lose, these players will be getting paid vast amounts of money. When you consider that teams like Greece have claimed this title, it begs the question, why we are so useless?

if I was manager of the England squad (currently managed by Roy Hodgeson) I would recognise the fact that every man in the squad is not only of great talent, but also very wealthy and there pay should be suspended pending victory on a match by match international basis, I think that this would not only re-invigorate the team to "earn there wage" but also to re-instil a bit of national pride.

Although this is merely my own opinion, I do think that my logic is undeniable. when you see far less established footballing countries excelling in competitions such as the word cup and the Euro's it is clear that sometimes patriotism is the defining factor in success rather then the status of the players individually.

Driving, me mad?

I have recently turned 17, and for those living in the Britain will know all to well that this is the age that a person can legally learn to drive. this is a very exciting prospect is it not? well to be honest i have found it a nightmare, not only is the initial cost high ( you have to pay £50 to get your provisional license) but it is becoming harder and harder to pass, the theory exam questions not only your knowledge of the road and its workings but now you have to know about insurance and all sorts! to make things worse you have a margin of about 4 wrong answers and if you manage to pass you can then move onto (providing you are sufficiently capable behind the wheel and can pay the £90 ) the practical test. the practical test is not only as difficult as the theory but you have now got to drive perfectly and locate and arrive at a pre-named destination without the help of anything but roadsigns.
Well if you can manage all that and you want to start driving you have to buy a car, prices of which are varied enough to suit any new driver BUT this is not the issue, the number one reason why young people don't start driving until they reach there 20's is because the insurance premiums for young drivers is monumental. i got a quote for a 1.2 polo on my own policy, i live in a reasonably nice area on the countryside with off road parking and my quote was £3000! this is a joke and it means that most middle class families are unable to afford such a cost. personally i think it would be a good idea for some young bright spark to start an insurance company that is designed for first time young drivers, and undercut the main insurance brands to give yourself a monopoly in that sector...but what do i know.
