Tangerine Tango

Here's an inspiration board for the 2012 Color of the Year. What do y'all think of it? We have been seeing orange a good bit so it's not a bit surprise. I don't know that I could love it on it's own, but as part of a combo it can be really pretty. One of my spring brides is using it in combination with pinks and yellows and it looks FANTASTIC. I would be very weary of having an black near this color. Definitely stick with greys and browns.

Okay, I have a million things to say about my wedding but I'm trying really hard to wait until I have the pictures to go with it. So bare with me!

Until then, I'm about to upload SO MUCH wedding porn you can't see straight. I have tons and tons of images saved to my hard drive from B.P. (before Pinterest) that I need to post online and pin. Enjoy.... and hopefully all of these images loading on your screen won't crash your computer!

Some are in folders by what website they came from, but this first bunch is not sorted.

The wedding is over! I'm a married lady!

.....and I'm still writing to-do lists. :(

get new driver's license
send for new social security card

(after I get copies of marriage license back from probate court)

have my name changed on my Notary Public certification
get new passport
have my name changed on our bank accounts, lease, insurance, etc.

The list goes on and on.

last minute wedding panic

The weather channel is making me sick to my stomach. Seriously. Yesterday it looked like there would be sunny skies.... today.... well... not so much....

Another stress factor.... finding someone to officiate my ceremony! I had asked an old friend to do it since he was a minister back in the day, but he's been MIA lately and it's pretty obvious that we need a back-up plan. Bryan and I asked my brother to officiate and we talked about online ordination, but the lady at the county office couldn't tell me if they would recognize that or not. Now it looks like a bridesmaid's mom is going to do the notary thing for us after the ceremony and sign it. (In SC a notary can sign a marriage license. I think it's like one of three states in the whole country that allow that...) So at least we have that squared away. Looks like I'll be calling the rental company tomorrow about tenting if that rain doesn't go away... pray for us please!

This morning the weather said it might rain Wednesday but would be sunny again on Thursday. Now it will definitely rain Wednesday and probably ALSO on Thursday. Cue bridal meltdown.

I made this last night...

Since we're using non-traditional music, I was worried that guests would be confused about when it's time to stand for the bridal entrance. I made this sign for the flower girl to carry instead of tossing petals.

This was a super easy project! I'll post a tutorial after the wedding. I thought about putting "please stand" on the back side and having her turn it around when she gets to the front, but she's little and we're worried she might get nervous if she has too much to do. We'll see though...

Okay y'all, I am OBSESSING! I added the Weather Channel app on my phone and I check it every morning now.

The weather forecast is posted through November 2nd (wedding is on the 5th) right now. It looks like it's going to rain the Friday and Saturday before, then mostly cloudy Sunday and Monday, partly cloudy on Tuesday, and sunny skies on Wednesday. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Lord let those sunny skies continue through the weekend!!

The temp for Wednesday is up (a little) to 69 degrees. It's 73 there right now, then it goes down to the high 50s for the rainy days, then back up to 69 on Wednesday. Maybe that means it will go up a little bit more for the weekend?! Here's to hoping!

A hard days work...

An unbelievably HUGE thank you to Denver Downs Farm who opened their entire pumpkin patch to me a week before their fall opening. If you're in the area (between Clemson and Anderson in South Carolina) make sure you stop by this month for their Giant Pumpkin Patch and Corn Maze. This year they are celebrating the 150th anniversary of the Civil War. Check out this amazing corn maze:

ceremony readings

This was something I really procrastinated on... picking my ceremony readers. And I don't know why! Once I sat down and thought about it the choices were obvious. We asked Bryan's cousin Brita and my college roommate Joni.

One of the readings was a quick choice. It's always been a favorite poem of mine, and after I saw it on an episode of Brothers and Sisters (the one where Justin and Rebecca almost get married until Kitty collapses while she's reading the poem) as a wedding reading and I just knew that was the one.

There are 19 days until the wedding. 19!!!!!! WTF! Where did all of the time go?!?! Well let's see shall we.... how have I procrastinated planning our wedding since we officially set the date back in February...

planned numerous weddings for other people
make 10999999999 trips to Hobby Lobby where I spent ungodly amounts of money on "stuff for the wedding" that I either ending up returning, using for something else, or not using at all but will "someday use it for something else" so I put it in storage
ditto but shopping "trips" on Etsy.... and without the ability to make returns
obsessing over decorating our apartment
spent hours shopping online and in stores for furniture
spent SO MANY hours shopping online and in stores for registry items. seriously.
got back into scrapbooking, briefly
got back into sewing, briefly
so much more....

Lately I've been wasting all of my time looking at recipes online. Wedding in 2 1/2 weeks? La la la la la I can't hear you!

Still have a good bit to do.... finally delegating... haha. Wish me luck! :)

fun wedding extras and an etsy spotlight

Bryan doesn't know I'm doing this, but since he doesn't read the blog anyway it won't matter. :)

A few weeks ago I was shopping in Macy's? Dilliard's? somewhere with his mom, gramma, aunt, and cousin for his gramma's dress for the wedding. I saw these t-shirts that said "Mr. Right" and "Mrs. Always Right." TOO CUTE. I've seen some cute ones but not that said that. Well, they didn't have the right size for me, and the tee for Bryan looked scratchy and he is really picky about t-shirts.

So, I ordered iron-on vinyl from etsy seller ChiChi Kids. She was SO flexible and even downloaded a font I asked for that she didn't already have. I used American Typewriter and Affair, both of which were on our wedding invitations.

It's going to be so cute!! We're doing an EXTREMELY casual breakfast the next morning at my parents' house (just a no invitation drop-in kind of thing) and I figured we could wear them then. We'll actually be Mr. and Mrs. then!! :)

sneak peak: bridesmaid attire

This has been a real struggle trying to decide what they should wear.

We went with this dress:

David's Bridal Style 83707 in Black

Here's a pretty detail shot so you can see the ruched waistline and pockets.

We're doing patterned tights and black shoes.

Black button-style earrings and fall-gold pashminas:

The color of the pashminas makes me think of this, which of course =happiness. :)

Bouquets (which the girls and I are making ourselves the night before the wedding - not mine, just theirs) will be hand-tied and made with these:

(assuming the florist was able to find all the dark dahlias I wanted... hello florist! send me an email! give me a phone call! a smoke signal will suffice!)

I think the dark purple-ish dahlias will really pop off of the gold of the pashminas. Thoughts? I've had a REALLY hard time making a decision about this stuff. I REALLY wanted to go with cardigans because they're just very.... fall. But the girls were look over-accessorized and they just didn't go with the satin dresses. The pashminas are a much better match to the dresses. Anyone think they'll look like bumble bees? It's a concern, but it is a gold and not a yellow.... the red wasn't dark enough and I thought it would take away from the bouquets... I refuse to do orange, and the only other colors were a light hunter green and deep jewel teal.

Now I'm just trying to figure out necklaces. They may not wear the pashminas in the ceremony, so they will need something on their necks. It has to match the earrings, but I don't want it to be all black because they could end up being in ALL black. I found this one at Target, but of course it was locked up in the case and I couldn't get a great look:

I think it would go really well with the earrings. Of course it's not even up on their website... bleh. I got the earrings at JC Penny yesterday and I can't find them on their website either.

Dear Weather, I hate you.

The weather is making me crazy. The insane kind.

We were sure - SURE - it was going to be hot at our wedding. I was sure. My mom was sure. My bridesmaids were sure. Then there was a VERY cool weekend (the first weekend in October) and we were all sure it was going to be cold and we would all be miserable.

Now it's just a toss up!

The high on October 1st was all the way down to 68 degrees. This was the first cold day of the year. I happened to be in town that weekend. At first I was elated because, hello, it's friggin hot in Houston and it seemed like Fall had arrived in my home town just for me! :) Then, I panicked. Itcannotbecoldatmywedding. I am praying like crazy that we don't have to tent because of rain, and now if I have to tent because we need heaters I'm going to be even more upset! (Remember that was the HIGH, the low was all the way down at 51 which is just too chilly for people to be comfortable outside.)

Then, just a mere 4 days later, on October 5th the high was in the low 80s! It was really warm! Then back down to 69 degrees on the 11th.

Yesterday was a high of 85 degrees, and on Thursday the high is only supposed to be 61!!!! WHATTHECRAPISGOINGON?!?! Ugh. Well, I know what's going on. It's typical SC weather that I USED to love, but now it's making me nutso.

I only get a 10-day forcast, so the most I can see right now is that it's going to get back up 74 within the week, and have a high of 71 on 26th. With a low of 44 degrees. Jesusplease let me have a beautiful low-80s day with evening weather in the mid-to-upper 60s with no rain. Is that really asking so much?

I'm needing your thoughts and opinions....

So who did this project already? How did you do it? Anything you were glad you did, or things you should have done differently?

I'm thinking of having the directions say "please sign just your name" since we want guests to leave their actual messages over at the photo booth. I'd like to be able to go back and embroider all their names with black embroidery thread, but if someone writes a long note that will be impossible. Maybe I should ask someone to "attend" this table before the ceremony and during the cocktail hour?

I'm definitely going to have the wedding party and whatever family is there early go ahead and do theirs so there will be examples.

Any ideas???
