Featured Wedding Locations ::: Indiana Wedding Photographer

I've been on a bit of a blogging hiatus lately and I'm coming out of it announcing something big! Being a wedding photographer, I run into a lot of great ideas and great locations that I would love to share with everyone. So, I decided to start blogging a bit more about weddings in general (along with my photography, of course). I hope everyone gets great ideas and shares some of their own experiences and ideas in the comments section!

Our very first FEATURED WEDDING LOCATION is Mounds State Park in Anderson, IN

Why is it great? Mounds State Park is a beautiful location for an outdoor (or indoor, as they have a pavilion that can be rented) wedding. The park itself is huge, but the main feature is the trails that dip and weave through trees that are hundreds of feet high and hundreds of years old. Plus, they do not charge an entry fee on weekends...which weddings usually occur during. Sweet!

What if it rains!? There is a good size pavilion available to rent that is very close to the entrance of the park...making it super easy to find! You can use this building to hold your wedding reception or your ceremony can be moved inside too if it is too hot (like it has been lately) or if it starts raining.

Indiana Wedding and Boudoir Specialist ::: Heather and Jon's Wedding

On June 11th, Heather and Jon had a beautiful wedding ceremony and I was lucky enough to get to share their day with them. The sun was hot and the rain clouds threatened most of the day but, thankfully, kept their distance. Although I did get a bit of a sunburn, it was nothing a little aloe couldn't take of :)

Heather kept her wedding traditional and it was so sweat to see her come down the aisle with the veil covering her face. A lot of brides to put the veil up anymore so when her dad lifted it away from her face to "give her away" it was such a special moment. Heather and Jon are so in love, its beautiful. Their ceremony had so many wonderful words of encouragement and love from their family. (blood...and chosen).

Their minister who officiated the ceremony told a few stories about watching them both grow together and got quite choked up a few times. You know someone is happy for you when they have to pause to let an emotional moment pass. Its one of my favorite things about weddings.

The chose a great way to come back down the aisle. They had everyone toss seeds...which is common, I just don't think they expected so many people to throw the seeds AT them instead of over them. lol

Indiana Wedding and Boudoir Specialist ::: The Other Side of Me

While the photography business takes up ~~what feels like all~~ most of my time, I do have a second passion. DIY, Renovations, ANYTHING to do with homes...lol. I got inspired to blog more about what else is going on in my life thanks to Young House Love and Kelly Moore! Most of my photographer friends know Kelly because she designs some AWESOME camera bags (and is an awesome photographer too). (Ladies, you NEED one of these bags..so cute). But she also has done a lot of renovating in her own home...which YHL covered in this post.

I remember how I was planning my wedding (which never happened....maybe I'll write a post about that later) and now that I am preparing to buy my first home it almost feels the same. I have so many ideas and I would love to take you all along on my journey :) Right know I am knee deep in paper work. Waiting to get finances together, waiting to pay off the last of my debt, waiting to find a bank that will give me a better interest rate...waiting, waiting, waiting. But soon it will be done and I'll be able to get my project on. I plan on building some furniture with the help of Ana White, Designing a Grey and White Bedroom(like the one above) and opening at Boudoir Studio eventually. At a recent wedding I shot I saw a really cute idea. The couple had set up some flowers in a mason jar and hung it from a shepards hook. These lined the ceremony aisle and were absolutely beautiful. I just had to share this great idea with everyone. Its super affordable and super cute...a double in my book :)

Its 2011, most couples are choosing to see each other before the wedding day. It not only helps the photographer (and your photographs) but it also helps your guests not have to wait for hours to see you at the reception.

The lore behind not seeing each other before the wedding comes from arranged marriages where they didn't want the couples to see each other before hand so that they could not back out of the deal if one of them wasn't attractive. SOOO since we know who we are marrying now and know that we like them already there really isn't a need to not see each other. A first look does allow couples to see each other for the first time all dressed up in their wedding finery however :) It gives the Bride and Groom a few moments away from all the hectic-ness of the day.

Indiana Wedding and Boudoir Photographer ::: Kate and Steven Paxson

Kate is one of the most relaxed brides I've ever worked with. She didn't rush around or worry much about much of anything. She sat in the makeup chair and talked and laughed with all of us, snuck up on her Groom for the first look (that I recommend EVERYONE do) and said her vows while a storm approached.

The rain stayed away until we were finished getting some group shots and they had just announced the newly married couple when the storm totally engulfed the reception. Storm clouds swirled, winds blew plates and cups away and finally the rain sent the DJ scrambling for plastic to cover his equipment.

And after all of that, Kate and Steven danced their first dance inside a small room in a historical house with the help of an ipod and a portable speaker. Lightning danced in the background of their party until everyone had said their goodbyes. Its safe to say that this Bride handled this particular wedding the best that anyone could have :)

Host a Boudoir Party ::: Indiana's Traveling Boudoir Photographer

Boudoir is one of the fastest growing trends in the Midwest and I know you all have been asking a lot of questions about how Boudoir Parties work so here are some details!

What is a Boudoir Party?
-A Boudoir Party is basically a group of boudoir sessions grouped together "Hosted" by a friend. Your friends can all hang out at each others sessions or the sessions can be scheduled by hour if you don't want an audience.

What does the Host get?
-Whether hosting a Catalog party or a Girls Night Out, everyone knows that the Host gets special perks. For each person the Host invites to her party she receives $50 off of her session/product cost! Hosts can invite up to 4 people so that is a possibility of earning $200 towards your session.

Where are these Parties Located?
-We can either host the party at the Host's Home...one of her guests homes, a Hotel Location or (Coming Soon) my studio location in Anderson, IN

What do we wear?!
-This is the SECOND most popular question! And the answer is simple. Whatever you feel good in! lol. It can be lingerie, a bra/underwear set, team jerseys, tank tops, jewelry, t-shirts, etc, etc. You can also bring your favorite pair of shoes, hobby items like guitars, tennis rackets, books,etc. Sunglasses, hats, etc, etc.

What if I don't have any of those?!
-First of all, if your having trouble getting ideas...just shoot me an email and I'll help you come up with some things. ALSO, I have a couple of things that can be borrowed for your shoot. They usually stay in the studio though so if you want me to bring them you have to let me know.

Okay...Who should I invite?
-Everyone! These parties are great for Bachelorette Parties, Body by Vi Victory Parties, Girls Night Out Parties, or even Divorce Parties. There is ALWAYS a reason to do something for YOU!

How do I set up a party?
-If you would like a certain day be sure to CONTACT me to see if that day is still available. Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday Parties have to be scheduled 30 days in advance. Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are available for more last minute parties (if they are available). I can also schedule your party if you don't have a specific date in mind. How much does it Cost?
-Ah, now that is the big question. Isn't it? The answer is not much! :) $50 is due up front to cover your session fee. Each person in your party has to pay this $50 up front. At the end of each person's session they'll pay for any products they may want. Below is a list of products and prices.

Myleigh is the sweetest little girl! 3 years old and a bundle of energy. We took a walk around a local park and had lots of fun! Myleigh's outfit was an inspiration...who could say no to a pink + Zebra? This girl is going to have some great fashion sense as she gets older.
