These Nativity Sets Make Me Smile

A few weeks ago we were spending time with some close friends. On their bookshelf was the coolest nativity set I have ever seen. Keith began telling us the story of how he had made the set during one summer at Bible school. I just could not stop looking at the cute little wooden set and wondered how hard it might be to make one of my own. The fact that this nativity was around 20 years old and looked brand new was very impressive.

Fast forward to a few days ago.

I was checking out one of my favorite websites, thepioneerwoman.com. She has hilarious stories, great photography, delicious recipes, and tips for homeschooling. Since I don't have any children, I rarely look at the homeschool section but this photo caught my eye. There before my eyes was a wood block nativity set. I could not believe that I had never seen one before until this Christmas and now I had seen two.

Immediately I sent a message to Keith that someone else in this world had one of the cool wood block nativity sets and that he needed to go immediately to her website.

Fast forward to this morning.

I got a text message from Keith this morning to check out his website, lightsheepstudios.com. My heart was thrilled once again as I looked upon this adorable little shepherd. Keith has hinted that there may be photos of the whole set coming around Christmas Day. I hope so. These wood blocks really do bring a smile to my face.

My e-mail inbox had this sweet surprise of $1.25 off one Simply Peanut Butter Pillsbury refrigerated cookie dough. As I started poking around the Pillsbury website, I also found another coupon for $1.00 off the same Simply Peanut Butter cookie dough. The website should let you print two of each coupon. These new Simply Peanut Butter cookies are meant to taste more like homemade cookies. According to the e-mail, these cookies DO NOT contain the following:

Artificial colors
Artificial preservatives
Artificial flavors
Trans fat
High-Fructose corn syrup

Both of my coupons stated that they were good for "any variety Pillsbury Simply Refrigerated Cookie Dough", not just the peanut butter.

Taking a Break and Free Donuts

The last several weeks I have been a little overwhelmed with fixing up our home, taking vacation days from work, having out-of-town guests, being with a friend at the hospital, sleepless nights, a couple out of state trips for graduations, and many other things. Since we do not have internet at home, I am going to have to step away from my blog for awhile. I will be back soon but I do not know when. Thank you so much for sticking with me over the past year and have a wonderful summer!

Yes, today is my birthday and I want to tell you about all the yummy goodies I have been enjoying this week and will continue to enjoy next week.

Many restaurants give FREE food or dessert if you join their Birthday Clubs. I have put together a list of all the clubs that I belong too and all the delicious food I have gotten for free because it is my birthday.

I printed all of my coupons from my e-mail and organized them according to which side of town they were located. Each day this past week I have planned my errands and then looked to see which coupons were near that part of town. I tried to go to one dinner place and one treat place each night. Example: Schlotzsky's is across from Romano's Macaroni Grill so I went and got my free sandwich and then got my free chocolate cake. If my Rita's coupon had arrived I would have gotten my free ice too and saved the cake for later (Rita's is also across from Schlotzsky's).

All of the photos below were taken by me or my husband while we enjoyed all of my free food. Please remember to check with your locations to make sure they accept the coupons.

Moe's Southwest Grill--This burrito was big enough for both of us. It comes with unlimited chips and salsa. We went right before closing the worker gave each of us a free medium drink too!
Ruby Tuesday's--Their coupon stated that it could be for dine-in or RubyTueGo. Of course getting it to go saves greatly on the tip so I stopped by and ordered and then ran to the grocery store nearby. When I returned, my meal was hot and ready and I they brought it to me curbside and didn't even bring me a ticket to sign. No tipping required. This burger was HUGE and fed both of us.
Marble Slab--Since I have allergies I can't get my ice cream and mixings mixed together on the slab. This size was plenty for us to share. There was a lot of ice cream packed in this cup and the Andes mints were not the miniature size but more like half the length of a normal candy bar. They gave me three. We saved them for a snack in our lunch boxes.
Red Robin--These is such a great deal. Choose any hamburger on the menu and it comes with bottomless fries. This was the Sicilian Burger which has mozzarella and pepperoni on it. It was more than enough for the both of us. Next year I will see if they will let me order it to go like Ruby Tuesdays.
Red Robin--As if the burger and fries were not enough. Everyone (who asks for it) get a free hot fudge sundae. This is much bigger than it appears in this photo. No coupon required. I did not share this one.
Schlotzsky's--The "Original" sandwich was very good. I don't know why I put the cup in the photo. It was just water. No sharing this time either.
Cold Stone Creamery--Again I can't have my ice cream mixed together on a slab, so I got Oatmeal Cookie Ice Cream with crushed up Butterfinger. Yummy. Hubby and I shared this one.
Romano's Macaroni Grill--This was ridiculous. Look closely and you can see that this pie pan holding my chocolate cake is sitting on my legs in the car. Let me just say that I am in no way skinny and this pay almost covers my knees. This cake was enough for four people. We also got it to go so no tipping needed. I had to wait 15 minutes, so the waitress gave me the free italian bread also (not pictured).
Atlanta Bread--I almost forgot to take a photo of my cookie. This is the 1/4 that is left of my chocolate toffee crunch.
Fuddruckers--This chocolate milkshake was amazing. It was made the old fashion way with vanilla ice cream blended with chocolate syrup. It was plenty big enough to share but hubby wasn't around so I drank the whole thing myself.
Sticky Fingers--Since Ruby Tuesday let me get my burger to go, I thought I would try the same thing at Sticky Fingers. This was the absolutely best deal of any restaurant I had been too. The coupon states that you receive one half slab ribs or any other meal item up to $13.99. The manager let me pick out anything that totaled $13.99 or under. I chose two Pulled Pork sandwich plates. This came with fries and a pickle and totaled $13.98. Hubby and I both got our own meal for FREE! They even wrapped the buns separately so they would not get soggy from the BBQ sauce. Please note that you may not be able to get this same deal at your Sticky Fingers but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Dairy Queen--Buy One 16 oz Blizzard Get One Free. Blizzards are one of my most favorite treats ever. This was the only place that we did drive out of our way and then spend a couple dollars but it was so worth it. Try the Chocolate Cherry Love. It is amazing. Hubby's was much bigger than mine. That is just wrong when it is my birthday.

Total spent on all of the above photos was around $3.00 plus we also left a tip at Red Robin.

Amazing Grocery Deals--Getting The Stockpile Back in Shape

Nate and I have been eating from our huge stockpile for almost two months. The past few weeks we have been using a mini fridge and no freezer. Since we bought a new fridge on Thursday, I decided it was time to hit all the sales this week and get our fridge, freezer, and cabinets full again. We enjoyed not going to the store the last couple of months except for fruits, veggies, milk, and bread. Check out the photos below. I have been a member for over 6 months and have really enjoyed it. All I have to do is log-in, check to see if any ads are available for me to view, click on the ads and it takes me to the website of the advertiser. If the website is something I like, I can look around all I want. If I am in a hurry and don't have time to look around, I can just click the ad to get paid and then immediately exit out of the website. It is that easy and only takes a minute or two of my time each day.

Payment occurs every Friday. Some weeks I get 30 cents and other weeks I get a couple of dollars. It all goes into my PayPal account and I transfer the money to my bank account every couple of months. It is not a ton of money but every little bit helps.
