On account of Engineers Day 2012, the students of SDMCET, CSE have exhibited their technical skills. Depicting their knowledge of the subject by depicting the concepts in terms of Cartooning or Making Models for the same. The models were developed with the help of waste thermocols, plastics, threads etc, without spending a penny from their pockets. Around 28 teams have participated in this event. There were some teams which depicted their skills in Electronic Circuits as part of course Analog and Digital Electronics. There was a one day workshop at SDMCET's CSE dept today on 12th Dec 2011. It was held in the project lab of CSE dept. The inauguration of the same was held in the dept Seminar Hall

The workshop was split into two sessions, The first session was conducted by Dr.Shivshankar. He spoke about Matlab 7.0 and different commands involved in the same.

The second session was conducted by Dr.Jagdeesh Pujari, on a case study of Content Based Image Retrieval and Textures.

The students from Mtech SDM CSE 1st sem, UG students of CSE and Faculty of different branches, attended the workshop. Certificates were given to all the participants.

It was a great session by both the resource persons.

IBM DB2 Certification

On Sunday 17th Oct 2011, there was a certification test conducted by IBM for students of final year (2012 pass out) at CCF building SDMCET. More than 70% students cleared the certification test. There was announcement of forthcoming training by IBM like RAD, RFT, Tivoli. IBM resource person named Mr. Sachin Kumar had come to SDMCET to conduct the test. Benefits of TGMC (The Great Mind Challenge) were discussed with the students. The exam code is IBM DB2 9 - 302.

This newly built Dept has the State of the Art Technology, labs, staff rooms etc. Very soon the migration from old to new building will take place. Traditional television sets have a 4:3 aspect ratio. Widescreen television sets have a 16:9 aspect ratio.

What is the Campus Ambassadors program?

The Campus Ambassadors program is connected to the larger Fedora Ambassadors project. Where most Ambassadors focus on their region or country, Campus Ambassadors focus on promoting Fedora at their schools -- high schools and universities around the world. All Campus Ambassadors are fully vetted Ambassadors and enjoy all of the benefits of being in that group, along with the chance to socialize and plan with fellow students.

Why does Campus Ambassadors exist?

To build up individual Fedora communities on campuses, and provide resources for students to organize events and contribute their code and ideas to Fedora.

Fifa 11 PC - My Review

Fifa 11 is one of the latest addition of EA Sports football games series. Personally, This is one of the awesome football games I played on PC. For the first time there is a console experience in PC for Fifa Soccer series games. The graphics look so real that you actually feel the game. There is a New Improved Manager Mode where you can even set the difficulty level of The Board. The AI is very smart and you find it hard to score more.

But the most interesting thing I liked in this is the inclusion of Be a Pro mode, where you can control one player which is yourself!!! There is a Career Mode for Be a Pro. You can Create your own player and customize. You can start playing with any club. The main objective of this career mode is to get selected to International Squad from a Reserve Squad Player. You will be getting good transfer offers and salaries as you play. Want to play for your country in International Level ??? Well performance is the key factor..

But I didn't find out much support for Online Game Modes. That is the sad part in this version. In order to play online, I need to register for the EA Sports Portal. Thats pretty intriguing.

The Graphics is certainly a huge improvement over last year’s game.Stadiums sound alive and well thanks to a raucous crowd and the same goes for the commentary duo.

So overall, based on my gaming experience I will give it 8.0/10.0

A successful TWO Years at SDMCET...

Today I completed two years at SDMCET as lecturer.. Joined on Feb 18 2009.. Was never knowing I would end up in such a noble profession where my teachers became my colleagues.. In the initial stages it was very hard for me to get adjusted from student life to lecturer life. Now I am quite comfortable.. I found out that this is the profession where I can explore lot of different areas of research. I taught C-Programming twice, Discrete Math Structures. Now I m teaching Computer Graphics.
Anyway I thank all my colleagues who have made good memories in past 2 years and made my journey successful..

Last but not the least, Its my Students who made it more comfortable...

How my Windows 7 Prob got Fixed!!!

I am having Acer 5738 laptop. It comes with basic DOS. No Win 7 or XP Operating System.
I left 240GB partition for C drive!!, by accident of course. :)
And installed Win XP on D drive. I got Win 7 Operating System installed on my lappy's E drive.
But the prob was that the C drive contents weren't accessible in Win 7.
The C drive was different on Win 7. So I started disliking Win 7. :)
I thought of breaking partition of C drive which was 97% full.(Fehww!! Risky Business!!)
But while surfing, I came thru a content which i found helpful.
Now I can easily access all my drives in Win 7.
To access all drives, all I did was :

1) Right Click on My Computer, Select Manage.
2) Double Click on Storage and Double Click on Disk Management.
3) You will get to see all the partitioned/un-partitioned/logical drives along with its health.
The Drive which was not accessible in Win 7 was not assigned any drive letter (Logical).
4) Just assign any unused drive letter by right clicking on it and selecting "Change Drive letter and paths.

And You will get the Unaccessible(Previously) drive in your My Computer, along with other drives. Hope it helps you.

No Telnet in WIndows 7 ????

Nowadays many laptops/systems are coming with Windows 7 OS. This OS is bit different in functionality compared to the most popular Windows XP.
The telnet command in Win XP works fine
Eg - telnet 192.168.10.3 (in Run)

But if you try to access telnet from Windows 7, an error message will be displayed. It means Win 7 doesn't recognize telnet command.
To enable this command, you need to do some settings. Follow these steps :
1. Start
2. Control Panel
3. Programs and Features
4. Turn Windows features on or off
5. Check Telnet Client option. (If necessary check Telnet Server also)
6. Click OK

Now after these steps you will be able to open telnet with the same command as in XP.

Crazy about Video Games??

Remember the old days where we used to play video games connecting to Television sets. Gone are those days in these 3D Gaming days!!! The popular video gaming console was Terminator and
Mario bros, Contra, Adventure Island were some popular games.
Just if you wanna re live those childhood days there is some news for you. Now you can play those video games on ur computer/laptop. Its just the emulation of the exact video games.
We used to purchase some Cartridges like 64 in 1 , 5 in 1 etc etc.
Now these will be embedded in a file and they are called ROMS.

To emulate these games in your system follow these steps :

First u need an emulator which will be ur interface for gaming. The emulator i prefer is the NES Emulator. You can download here for free. You will find a list of emulators in the link. I prefer you the FCUEX emulators for windows.
After downloading the emulator (FCUEX) , just extract the files present.
The next task is to find the ROMS(earlier known as Cartridges). You can download it here for free!!! Alternately you can google it up.
Next up, double click on the fcuex.exe from the extracted folder. Then goto file and open the ROM file and U are done!!!
You can configure your keyboard or joystick according to ur comfort.

Area 51

This is the most controversial subject in world. The Area 51 base is located in the southern portion of Nevada in the western United States, 83 miles (133 km) north-northwest of downtown Las Vegas. The base's primary purpose is to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems. The name Area 51 is in CIA's official documents since 1967 which is at South Shore of Groom Lake.

The base was created to test the secret U-2 spyplane that was used to fly missions over the Soviet Union. Then it started to house the SR-71, A-12 and D-21 drone. The F-117A was tested there, also.Then, mysterious lights began to appear, and armed guards known as the 'Cammo Dudes' started patrolling the border.

In 1989, a physicist named Bob Lazar claimed that he worked at a base south of Area 51 and also claimed that Area 51 was testing extremely advanced aircraft and UFO's they got by trading with the aliens. UFOs are Unidentified Flying Objects. Since then, Area 51 has been thought to be the test center of captured UFOs because of the lights in the night sky.

In Area 51, the security is Top notch. The Cammo Dudes guard the entire Area. These Cammo Dude are the strange and anonymous security guards at Area 51. They are called cammo dudes, because of the camouflage that they wear. No one knows who hired Cammo dudes to patrol the area. They have all the privileges starting from Guns to Helicopters.

There are lot of conspiracies/controversies on Area 51. Some of them include :

The storage, examination, and reverse engineering of crashed alien spacecraft (including material supposedly recovered at Roswell), the study of their occupants (living and dead), and the manufacture of aircraft based on alien technology.
Meetings or joint undertakings with extraterrestrials.
The development of exotic energy weapons (for SDI applications or otherwise) or means of weather control.
The development of time travel and teleportation technology.
The development of unusual and exotic propulsion systems related to the Aurora Program.
Activities related to a supposed shadowy one world government or the Majestic 12 organization.

What exactly happens in Area51? Why it is so top secret area where any trespassing leads to death? Why there are many (maybe) UFO sightings in this Area? Is it related to the Appollo Moon Landing Controversy?All these questions remained unanswered.

This goes in history book as one of the Mysteries of the World. Do you think we are alone in the Universe?? The answer lies within you!!!
