Amusing, a supporter of Indonesia entered the field just before Indonesia was defeated 1-2 by Oman in the Main Stadium of Bung Karno, Jakarta, Wednesday (6/1/2010).

This incident happened, long before the game of Pre Qualification Asia Cup 2011, Group B, between Indonesia against Oman ended.

One of the Indonesian fans who escaped from the security forces' attention was a plump man, running to the middle of the field. He stole the ball from the foot of an Oman player and escorted to the Al-Habsi's goal.

Having successfully kicked the ball towards the goalkeeper from the Premier League club Bolton Waderers, the man was immediately knocked down by the officers.

However, this incident forced the match between Indonesia against Oman to stop for a moment.

Commission Member of Information of House of Representatives of Indonesia, Ramadan Pohan, was beaten by George Junus Aditjondro, author of Unmask Cikeas Octopus recently!

The beating was done immediately after Ramadan had responded to the book of Unmask of Cikeas Octopus held at Caffe Jewel, Jakarta. For some reason, "George suddenly hits the nose of Ramadan with the book," said Janti Wignjopranoto, one of the participants in the discussion, Wednesday (30/12).

The attack triggered Ramadan to react. His face was inflamed. Irritated, Ramadan straight off the stage and strolled home. "You see my nose. I was struck by George," said Ramadan not long after leaving the discussion.

Ramadan's statement quickly seized the attention of reporters around, outside the room. They surrounded Ramadan and kept asking the chronology. But unfortunately, Ramadan did not have time to elaborate.

To reporters George admitted that he had been provoked by Ramadan saying that he has been hallucinating. by his work, "My hands do not touch the face." said George in the middle of the discussion session.

A statue of President of the United States Barack Obama has already been erected in Menteng Park, South Jakarta. This brings nothing but continues to trigger criticisms. Not only Indonesian, a citizen of the United States questions the making of the statue.

It is reported the kid image of Obama in his ten year, wearing school-boy shorts with his outstretched hand holding up a butterfly, costs around $10,000 and was created to inspire young Indonesians.

The U.S. president was born in Hawaii and lived in Indonesia for four years in the 1960s with his mother and Indonesian stepfather. The young Obama, who once studied and played in this neighborhood, was known to many then as "Barry."

However Barry seems to be in advance to be idolized here. Let alone after he has sent a large number of US troops to Afghanistan and deemed to be controversial to have received a Noble Prize award.

If only our late heroes who deserved to be sculptured in the park could comment, probably they would say, "What a waste of money for a rush!"

Great, human being knows more than God does. There's no more man proposes God disposes anymore here. You are inviting something you really want to happen. How come; you are trying to convince people that it's really going to be over--the whole world! And you have already been smarter than God! Sure, any wishes will be fulfilled--as asked. But it is a reprimand, a huge disaster but small scope in the eye of God. Only befalls on those who believe.

Actually you are creating a fear in yourself--an exaggeration. No matter how accurate a scientific research is, how precise a prophecy would be, psychics are nonsense relating to religion well understanding.

Have you seen a picture of rushing people packed like sardine? From Jakarta, take the train to some destinations you prefer to go throughout Java, and automatically you will become one of them.

It is hard to make a reservation today by any means of transportation even if you are eager to, to have a convenience one. Jakartans are gearing up for the massive holy season exodus this week, when many will visit relatives mostly in small towns in Central and East java as part of the post-Ramadan festivities, the Jakarta Post reports.

Mudik as the Indonesian calls it, literally means going home or return. The phenomenon which is followed by a home-bound traffic and forces the government to brace for such problems as well, has long been lasting as a ritually annual trip; mainly concentrated in the capital city, big cities and Java in general.

According to Chaedar Alwasilah, a professor at the Indonesia University of Education (UPI) in Bandung, West Java, Indonesia, the mudik phenomenon is an annual event that distinctively characterizes Indonesian Muslims as a nation. Fasting in Ramadan and celebrating Idul Fitri are commonly observed by Muslims all over the globe, yet mudik is uniquely characteristic of Indonesians. As a recurring even mudik is predictable in many aspects, and therefore it can be explained sociologically.

Predictably it entails day-long traffic jam, congestion, high-cost and risky travel, and often accidents and death.

However, home is home sweet home; everybody is longing to see his sweet home and to greet his folks. You cannot find the same occasion some other time in the same year. Mudik is not merely a cultural ceremony but must be part of hablun minannas or devotion to God by way of interpersonal commitment. Muslims who believe that Lebaran(the Feast Day of Islam known as Idul Fitri)is rahmatan lil alamin (God’s mercy on human beings) also realize that it is celebration for all: Muslims, non-Muslims, fasting ones, on-fasting ones, the haves, and the have-nots.

Therefore, put aside all anxiety on the way home, everybody can’t wait for the Feast Day to come!

I was the one among the office workers in Jakarta tall buildings who rushed outside when the earthquake started to rattle around 03:00 pm. on Wednesday (Sept 2nd). Of course, this is the best way anticipating the possible collapse of buildings. The tremor indeed sent panic across the city and we felt the jolt of a 7.3-magnitude earthquake Luckily my office was located on the 4th floor (known as 3A referring to Chinese preference number) so it didn’t take a long time for me to reach out and I didn’t have to feel exhausted after running down. But the sways left me in dizziness out there and I kept feeling sick for a couple of hours.

For me, this is the first time that I feel the tremble. Many coworkers of mine had felt the same experiences a few years before and according to them, this is the worst.

It took around one hour to bring back our guts to get back to work. And none of us had the initiative to call it a day, not even my two pregnant coworkers. We got back to work and exchanged pleasantries, instead.

However, there is an encouraging story coming along with this tragedy, to my astonishment. One of our coworkers turned out to have been trapped in the office. He had been locked in and left behind after all of the employees had run out and scrambled for their own safety. Even though the whole of the office door was covered by glass, he had not tried to break it by throwing out some chairs or tables just in case of emergency. Maybe it’s too thick to fracture.

I asked him how he had felt. As a normal person, he had been worried, of course, but this had not driven him to the frenzy of his own. He said calmly that he had totally surrendered to God, leaving all things to Him.

Of what he had done for his own sake, I concluded that he was the one to comprehend as well as to apply the religious teachings of the fasting month well. Not only he refrained from carnal desires: food, drink, smoking and sex—as every believing Muslim obliged to do so during the days of Ramadan—by the time anybody should have done an extreme for his life, he had gone back to his desk, got the Holy Book of Koran and recited it and prayed.

What a precious lesson! I wonder what and you and I would do if only we were him.

In need of change in need of money

Likely this is hardly happening in any other parts of the globe as to giving alms with its own typical tradition. Ramadan, the holy month for Muslims to perform as much virtue in order to gain the spiritual title of the best quality of manhood, gives way to each other to share happiness together. One of the ways to tighten family ties is to love as well as to care for the young. And giving them small money, even though it is not a must, so far becomes a sort of obligation to celebrate the feast day ahead.

In Indonesia in some cities and towns, dozens of people line up for small change at a mobile teller counter of available Banks. The Bank provides small change to face higher demands ahead of Idul Fitri. In greater Jakarta each person is allowed to change up to Rp 200,000 (US$20)

While some people in need of change surely have savings, some others who are in need of money are not as lucky as to wish the have to give them some. The issue of seasonal beggars controlled by a ‘big boss’ forces the city administration to take action. It is not a good view to see the authority chase and net the beggars out there, especially in the holy month. But how can we Muslims who are ‘cleaning’ ourselves look at it, since the city itself has to be ‘cleaned’!

What a sight! It doesn’t take Tom and Jerry to play cat and mouse. It is all about the authority and the people’s business that deteriorates a good view of a city. Beggars are being chased, netted and soon after brought to a social rehabilitation center they are sent to their hometown.

Are you accustomed to seeing this phenomenon in your hometown?

However, they keep returning to public places! Yes, and the number is getting increasing. That is why the intensifying raids are being conducted. It is believed that these seasonal beggars are well organized. They flood the city in Ramadan month, where Muslims are obliged to fast and since the religion recommends the have to give alms to the poor, they take an advantage of it.

Therefore, regarding the beggars’ presence as ‘dirtying’ the city, the city administration is focusing the raids against those who organize the beggars, not the beggars themselves! It has to find the organizers who have exploited poor people from outside Jakarta to become beggars here. Just wait and see. They are being hunted down now and will soon be taken legal action.

To tell the truth, actually this is the classical account of the year!

By the way, can you distinguish the real beggar from the fake one? Ops, sorry, wrong question, on certain circumstances do you have any idea of telling what a beggar really is and why being poor seems like a sin?

August the month of heroism!

Accustomed to finding this moment: that early in August flag vendors began to appear to occupy the pavement at every turn of cities and towns? Then flags and buntings are displayed here and there in order to attract passers-by to buy some for a ritual happening every body should commemorate: the Independence Day of the country! It seems like the sacred steady colors needs renewing every year.

August is an unforgettable month in Indonesia. On the 17th sixty-four years ago, Soekarno and Hatta proclaimed the Indonesian’s Independence Day and up to now the commemoration has been carried out with the same zest.

And only this year, in the relating month, a thumb-up action happened to make the moment seems more glorified. No, it’s not of the appearance of a heroic film that distinguishes it from the same kind ever—have you seen Merah Putih? But it’s the real struggle executed by the members of the police’s Detachment 88 counterterrorism squad.

Soon after the uproar of recent twin bombings of Jakarta’s luxury hotels: JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton last July, the police anti-terror unit made a raid on a house where suspected militants were holed up in Temanggung, Central Java, on Saturday August 8th ago.

The raid involving gunfire exchange, and was part of a 17-hour operation in Temanggung was not yet a complete one. The bad news is that notorious Noordin M. Top who has been suspected died on a raid turned out to survive somewhere.

Noordin, the country’s most wanted terrorist, is believed to be behind the July 17 bombings of the JW Marriott and Ritz-Carlton hotels in South Jakarta that killed nine people, including the suicide bombers and injured 55 others.

This leaves big homework for Indonesian’s number one squad; even if it’s true that Noordin was killed it doesn’t change the fact that Indonesia remains under serious threat of terrorism. Dozens of people out there are willing and ready to replace Noordin at any time!

Long dreadlock and reggae-style outfits were very contrast to what he had worn when he was in mining career. Not so many people know that besides obtaining an MBA, he used to wok in Texas, the USA, Canada and Jordan.

Once I saw him on a TV live show interview, saying, “I created this song in Jordan and he started his signature laugh which made people believed it was nonsense. Not at all! He had been there!

It’s a crazy idea that he had left his promising career and started all over again by becoming a street singer.

Yes, Mbah Surip did some crazy things to make his dream come true.

Mbah Surip whose real name Urip Ahmad Ariyanto started to come to spotlight in Indonesian music industry when he was about sixty. Ironically, he died of heart attack before he could enjoy his effort (August 8th ago)

Mbah Surip is not a legend yet, but his phenomenal song takes everybody’s fancy. It even takes the President to express his condolences—something which is hardly ever expressed to any other artists.

The tickling lyric of Tak Gendong Kemana-mana has everyone who heard it humming. The song is about an offer of a ride to anybody wishing for it. No motorcycle, no car; he offers his back to carry people anywhere they want to go with a funny remark, “enak to, mantep to (comfortable, isn’t it?)

"What would you do if you knew your life be taken soon?" a spider hanging on its web around the corner from a cell asked. "Do you agree with the rule saying if you've taken someone else's life, to get even, yours should be taken too?

"Here, in this country as in some other parts of the world, your life is highly respected, even though you murder a person. No matter how upset the family of the victim is, you'll be only put into prison.

"Only if you plan a scheme or kill more and more people, you can hardly get away from the fire squad!"

The one being asked, didn't respond. it moaned instead, "Oh, let me sing a song about me, about my world which is blue. Blue is my world without soul. Cold is my heart since I did all those mistakes.

"Love me tender, even though I am a murderer. All my dreams have not been fulfilled yet. Happiness wont' follow me if I'm still alive.

Every foreigner accustomed to Indonesian culture may assume that it’s gone too far with the travel warning soaring to the globe by the international community. A few of them interviewed by a local TV after the July 17 Jakarta’s bomb blast, in fact, said, they would not leave the country which they have been getting along well.

As everyday is party at home--yes nearly 24 hours of TV program competition; from a series of live show of music programs in the morning to the other kinds of live shows at prime time. No wonder, TV shows turn to be a mock to the conservative.

It is common to find dropout school children or some lazy gadabouts, as soon as they wake up, will be spending most of their time talking on the mobile phone and get themselves entertained by their parent's TV without a fear of becoming broke --home sweet home. Thanks to the the promising trick and opportunity the phone cellular providers give to this country.

Is it too naive to say that Indonesians never realize that actually they are prone to be blowing ourselves up by doing such a thing? Partying is everybody's right, what's a big deal?

Big as it is as the predominant Muslim country, such a phenomenon is quite ironic. What an impact! The ulemas and clerics, what can they do unless deliver a speech. Yes, while they keep talking about moral, those listening to them, keep thinking that the sermon is merely a part of show.

Police said on Friday a car bomb went off at a toll road in north Jakarta, following two bomb blasts earlier in the day at JW Marriott and the Ritz-Carlton hotels in Jakarta's business district.

Metro TV said two people were killed in the car bomb. (Reporting by Telly Nathalia, Editing by Sara Webb)

Jonathan Manthorpe, Vancouver Sun reporting Nine people were killed and over 50 injured today when suicide bombers attacked two luxury hotels in the central business district of the Indonesian capital, Jakarta.

Police say they found the bodies of two suicide bombers after the explosions at the J.W. Marriott and the Ritz-Carleton hotels. Both hotels are frequented by foreigners who appear to have been the targets of the attacks.

The first bomb was detonated in the lobby lounge of the Marriott at 7.47 a.m. Near a meeting of foreign business people. Five people were killed.

The second bomb went off 10 minutes later in a second floor restaurant at the Ritz-Carleton killing two people. Another person later died in hospital.

As an Indonesian, I can only hope such a nightmare will never happen again in this country.

Some people looking for funny pictures on the Internet don’t feel amused as they find ones. Others who aren’t, oftentimes, only come across, get distracted and entertained.

Funny pictures are not tickling in the eye of the blind. To them the pictures are not telling something which meets with their interests. You know, the blind here are not those who have poor eyesight, but those who don’t know how to understand or enjoy whether a picture is funny or not. However, a kind of blindness is too subjective to stress up.

The blind can be you and I including those who happen to have imaginative talent. Nothing can satisfy all.

What makes funny pictures look dull not merely due to the tendency of the illustrator to imitate an image so there’s no sense of originality shown, but it exactly comes from the sense and the mood of viewers themselves. There’s no wit apparently to get along with.

Funny pictures should be appearing as appealing as public figures as to how to make viewers easily distracted visually. The one to create them, should be able to tickle everybody’s fancy. He doesn’t have to be prophetic who can visualize the society in the next few decades.

In some parts of the world, Muslims are still subject to hatred, related to terrorism and what so called adamant principles. The inclination comes up since the non-Muslims hesitate to make an acquaintance with the religion. They only know Islam by name, by sight or by bad conducts performed by those taking advantage of Islam for their own interest.

It's beloved prophet has long been judged as a liar for having written the holiest book proclaimed as God revelation, and for experiencing illogical spiritual moments. And that he applied polygamy, his image's getting worse.

However, the atmosphere of harmony has already been carried by its name since the beginning of its birth: Islam which means safe or secure (under the protection and the blessing of God)and Muslim means the one who submits or surrenders to the one and only God. The God-fearing followers wont bother at all to be obliged to perform daily five-time prayers. And the whole Ramadan month they are also obliged to fast during the day and strongly advisable to pray and recite the Koran during the night.

In some cases of no way will the unbelievers take Islam for granted, history recorded some converted people who used to hate Islam to the bone before, turned out to be more pious than those destined to be Muslims by birth.

Umar ibn Khattab who were crazily against Muhammad, for example, was lured by the magnificent content of the Koran read by her sister and soon afterward he converted and submitted himself to Islam.

One which leads any Muslims to a firm belief in the faith is the authentication the Koran as the revelation of God. As God himself guaranteed that nobody would ever be able to fake, even a single letter of the content, which are consisted of 6666 verses and that He always keeps it scared by making it easy for any learners of Koran to learn it by heart. Amazing! Even the under age can manage it well.

Today, the moon is likely a trustful reference to which leads unbelievers of modern man to convert to Islam. Based on a research unveiling that the moon once split to halves, to every body's astonishment, this was already mentioned by the Koran when prophet Muhammad under the pressure of the unbelievers was asked to to cut the moon to prove that he was the messenger of God. Unfortunately, as what had been asked for came to reality, they even thought it was a trick!

The best picture of the month is not the one taken with a sophisticated resolution. It doesn’t have to take a suitable setting into consideration and the photographer is not necessarily a professional.

It doesn’t need a glossy printed paper, the long lasting one. Instead, it can be made with a few-minute sketch on a piece of lousy paper.

The photographer doesn’t have to travel to fascinating spots for inspirations, neither does he have to look for beautiful model if it regards to human being's images. He doesn’t even need a camera!

The best picture of the month should be unique, tickling and instant. Everybody can create it, especially those having a good sense of humor.

By the way who has an idea to split the argument above? Ask every English teacher teaching Basic English as foreign language. When it comes to explain about who is he? What’s he doing? Any pictures can be boosted in order to attract attention.
