You should be holding your ball at this point. Turn your hand away from you once you have gripped your ball.

Its now time for approach. Lead off with your right foot. Take the 2nd with your left and the 3rd with your right. As you move through the steps, you have already started to swing your ball backwards . By the time you get to step four, your ball will be in throw position - in fact you'll feel the weight of it more as it comes lower and its time to let go .

Aim for the center dot in your lane as you release the ball. All the while, your eyes are one the pins . Don't be tempted to let your eyes off the pins and look at the ball as it moves down the lane. Remember, if you move your eyes, it's very likely that you'll move your upper body too and be out of alignment at the moment when you throw . Your ball will go for the center pin, and all the pins will come down!

I have often mentioned the need for all serious punters to keep records of their betting activities. One of the reasons for this is because I believe that there are certain times of the year which are better for punters than others. If you keep records you can see if you can spot any such trends.

Another fact that I have noticed is that when I am following a system it seems that the results are usually better during weekday racing than weekends. This is something that has also been mentioned in some of the horse racing forums so I do not think I am alone in spotting this.

I have been thinking about how seasonal variations can affect horse racing systems. If you have a system that relies on laying favourites it is fairly obvious that this will be less productive in the summer months. During June, July and August horses are more likely to run to their form than at the beginning and end of the season. At these times of the year favourites tend to win a higher percentage of their races.

This could go some way to explaining why so often after buying a horse racing system it works well for a few months and then goes into a nose dive. It would appear to me that it could be an idea to take a second look at any systems that you have ever bought. Take a look and see if they could benefit from being applied on a seasonal basis.

There are some horse race systems that try to be all things to all punters. What I mean by this is that they claim to be applicable to all types of races. This I find difficult to accept. How can any system be applicable to flat racing, national hunt, all-weather and summer jumping?

Often these types of systems are produced by companies and individuals who turn out system after system often based on back results. This is why a system that is based on a specific area of horse racing such as two year old flat racing or novice chases is likely to be more successful in the long term than a catch all system.

The problem about this is that quite often you do not know exactly how wide ranging a system is going to be until you have purchased it. In UK horse racing all jockeys have to be licenced by The British Horse Racing Board. Most would be flat race jockeys join a racing stable when they are in their mid teems. At one time nearly all apprentice jockeys were boys but in recent years an increasing number of girls have also have become apprentice jockeys. It is also fair to say that the girls are also having considerable success in what was once a male dominated sport.

To make up for their lack of experience an apprentice jockey can, up to the age of 25, claim a weight allowance in most races dependent upon the number of winners they have ridden in races against senior jockeys. This works out at 7lbs if the jockey has ridden 20 or less winners, 5lbs for 50 or less and 3lbs until they have ridden 95 winners. In certain races a jockey with less than 20 winners who is riding a horse from his own trainers stable can claim 10lb. Races purely for apprentice jockeys do not count towards their total of winners and the allowances in these races are calculated differently to those that also include senior jockeys.

There have been considerable advances made in jockey training in recent years not least with the establishment of Jockey Schools in the major training centres. Even so most young jockeys gain much of their early experience working in training yards. Among the many tasks an apprentice jockey can expect to find themselves doing is riding horses out on the gallops, mucking out and leading horses out at race meetings.

It can be a hard but exciting life for any youngster but unfortunately many apprentices do not make it to the ranks of being a senior jockey. There are many reasons for this, sadly some do not have the aptitude or ability for the job, and others simply become disenchanted with the life. The long hours, early cold mornings, poor wages and lack of progress lead many to seek alternative employment.

Another problem for any would be jockey is that of weight. Jockeys have to be able to keep their weight down to around 110lb to 120lb. As they grow some teenagers just do not have the physical build to be able to keep their weight down to that level. When this happens they really have three options, they can move on to National Hunt jump racing where they jockeys can weigh anything between 140lb and 147lbs, look for another job inside of racing or leave the industry all together.

Only a few apprentices each year will make the grade and become an established senior flat race jockey. Those that do can look forward to a lucrative and exciting life travelling the world riding some of the best race horses and for them all of the struggles will have been worthwhile.

Regardless of which sport, team or individual sportsman is their favourite, most fanatics can easily get their fix of live sporting events on TV. How to Bowl a Strike Consistently by Dennis Reynolds

If you've ever dreamed of bowling a perfect game but never came close, you know that throwing strikes consistently can be harder than it looks. However, with the knowledge of proper techniques along with practice and patience, you can learn how to bowl a strike consitently.

This may be considered common knowledge, but hitting the pins in the right spot is the key to getting a strike. You want to hit the pins just off center of the head pin hard enough to force all the pins down. In bowling, ball placement is determined by your form and how you set up at the beginning of your throw, just like most other sports.

Make sure that you have your foot opposite your throwing hand pointed at the front pin, as well as your shoulders square with the lane. In the beginning, you should use the markers to get lined up and in position, over time you will learn to line up just by looking at the pins.

Take 3 steps followed by slightly sliding, you should be on the same side as your throwing arm. Be sure to watch your footing, if you cross the foul line your score will not count, strike or no strike.

While taking your steps, move your throwing arm back and then forward, keeping straight at all times. If you do not keep your arm moving straight during your throw your aim will be off. Be sure you are following through at the end of your throw. It might help to think of this as shaking hands with the head pin, since that is about the position your arm should end up in.

Use the heaviest ball you can easily hold in order to provide enough power to knock down all the pins. The heavier the ball, the more momentum is carried through to the pins.

Just off center of the head pin is where you should be aiming to strike. While practicing how to bowl a strike, you'll know whether you are too centered on the head pin if you leave pins off to both sides. Alternately, leaving pins directly behind the head pin means you are aiming too wide.

Practicing is the only way to possibly get good at bowling strikes. Video taping yourself throwing well help you find where you need improvement. This may feel silly at first, but when you see the improvement you can make, you'll warm right up to the idea. Now go on out there and get that perfect game.
