trust

Seems like a one word theme the Lord is giving me lately. I have many animated conversations with the Lord on my drive to work. I do most of the talking and He usually responds with one word, lately it is TRUST. I freely admit that I would like to be in control of all that is in my life including the desire for God to answer my prayers in the way I'd like and according to my timeline. Well, you'd think that at my ripe old age I'd have figured out that The Lord acts with HIS will not mine. I know that deep down but my will gets in the way of receiving that most of the time. When I can put my hard headed desire to be in control aside I can focus on knowing Him more and TRUST. It is incredibly freeing to let go of the control and believe that whatever happens is His will and His love and His timing and is the best possible answer/solution for me.

Proverbs 3:5-6

shelter

Life has become very hectic and my soul has been craving the peace and tranquility of Selah, the name for our property and under construction cabin.
Selah has many meanings but no one clear cut definition. We have chosen to use the definition of, rest, peace and praise.
We had the opportunity to travel to our place of peace this past weekend for just one day. We arrived during a downpour and inspecting the cabin under construction found that it was raining in one part of the unfinished roof and creating a waterfall from the loft to the main floor, not a welcome nor peaceful sight. As soon as the rain let up, husband and youngest son were able to patch the roof with a tarp and scraps of wood. For good measure they also covered another part of the roof that was iffy. There were frequent stops to the project as it sporadically rained and hailed most of the afternoon.
Praise for the materials that were available to secure the cabin. Rest as the rain stopped and the sun came out after the work was done. Peace as we can depart from Selah knowing that there we experienced and will continue to rest in His shelter.

Beach Therapy

Recently we took the grand-daughters on a promised getaway.

We originally had grander, farther reaching thoughts for the trip

but with our current time restraints (my job) we opted for a

5 hour drive 2 night trip to the coast.

They loved the beach, were a bit disappointed that they couldn't swim in the ocean,

but fog and sun they had a great time wading and playing in the sand.

Apparently burying your cousin in sand up to their nose is great entertainment.

As was shopping. G-pa realized what he hasn't missed with 5 sons,

seemingly endless hours looking at every little thing in every tourist shop.

As for me... the sound of the waves the salt air

and time with females was relaxation therapy.

The granddaughters : we call them Blondie and Sparkle.

For the time being the cousins enjoy looking alike and humoring us accepting their nicknames.

They are growing up way too fast but we will enjoy them as little girls as long as they let us.

island hopping

Ferry hopped over to Lummi Island with some lovely ladies for a summer lunch and island tour. Superb meal at The Willows Taproot Cafe. Gorgeous views from their deck. Cute and colorful fishing shacks, we drove around the island twice to get photos, and to enjoy the scenery.

Oh yes - back on the mainland we stopped at Menchie's

Seems like it has been forever since I was taking regular photos and working with photoshop. Lately I've either been playing chauffeur, or I'm stuck inside at the computer training for a call center customer service position. Both the travel and the training come to an end this week. YAY!!

I have been out a bit with iPhone in hand to capture the iris above and sunset at the beach. Needed a little color in my life.

Spring has finally arrived. Just down the road from me is a lot with all kinds of wonderful rusty farm "things" scattered around. Not being a farmer, I couldn't tell you what these things are but I like the huge tulip planter and the contrast with all the new trees and bushes.

I snapped this lovely scene with my iphone, I loved the fresh dusting of snow on the higher hills highlighted by the setting sun. What I did not like was no matter how much I tried with my limited photoshop experience to add some more light to the foreground I kept washing out Mt. Baker and the hill top snow. I was going to post as is but then I decided to grab my camera and shoot the same scene the next day but earlier. (No problem since this is just down the road from home).

I would LOVE suggestions!! Forget using the iphone? change camera settings? maybe bring a chair and wait for perfect lighting, does that exist in this situation? HELP!

I shot that one on a typical pacific northwest cloudy day. I mentioned that there is a great view of the mountains so I went back on a rare sunny day and captured the mountains behind it. The snow capped Mt. Baker looks like its floating on clouds but I assure you it's well grounded.

this day was "cloudy with a chance of sun", without the clouds there is a lovely view of the mountains behind this barn, I'll have to go back on a completely sunny day and show you.
