9/11 & Flight 93

I sat down in front of my t.v. today and watched the Tribute to Flight 93. I started out o.k. but then it was like a river, no more like a waterfall of tears. I couldn't stop and couldn't breath. I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my skin. I was so saddened that after 10 years I still felt this way. Actually, I ten years ago was in a different frame of mind too. I wasn't watching what was happening. It was a very sad and lonely time for me and I could have cared less. So for the next 10 years I never paid much attention to what was going on around me except that I was miserable because of the things that I was doing to myself.

I woke up today. I cried most of the day. Sad, down and kept shaking my head thinking Beth you need to start being positive in your daily life. You need to tell others that you care and love, respect them and start living your life to the fullest. No more hurting yourself because you ate all those M&M's. Just go with it because you will never know unless you do. I made a terrific turkey chili with corn bread and we ate and told each other how blessed we were to have one another in our lives. Tomorrow is going to be a different day.

I thank all the men and women on that Flight for being courageous and strong minded knowing that they would never see their loved ones again. I will take the challenge to love them for you in my heart and in their spirit. We will rise above all this tragedy that will come again. Thanks for protecting us. Thanks to all the men and women who helped our country back to some sort of normalcy again. My hearts go out to Ladder 1. I feel your pain and feel your loss and will never forget what you have done for our country. Amen.

Facebook Cleaning Frenzy

Today was my massive cleaning day for my Facebook account. I do this only about once every three months and probably should do it more often because it takes almost a day up to do it all. I "like" most every page that I go to and then more because I am a sweepstakes, wanna win kind of junkie as well. So every damn Raflecopter you enter you have to "like" all these damn pages in order to win something that you could probably go buy and put on layaway at K-mart.

I miss out on the important people who really mean the most and that is my game playing friends like on Cafe World. You guys ROCK. I hadn't played Cafe World for about 3 months because there was so much other shit that I was entering or looking at online trying to see if I could be a blogger too. Excuse me but just because someone can write a bit, doesn't mean that it's going to pay the bills. You really need to know the kind of content you want to write about. I just don't fit into that normal realm of coupons and what can I get at the Dollar Store.

I think it's quite wonderful that all these bloggers who blog about their coupons and what you can get etc are great. But there are just toooooo many of them to keep track. So, I let them go and stuck with a few that I have been truly inspired by for sometime. I only need one lady telling me what deals I can find here in my hometown. I don't need 50. So I downsized and now I feel refreshed that I can spend some real quality time with my friends on Cafe World oh and The Smurf Game. Oh I love them Smurfs. See you see where I am going with this don't you?

It's one thing right after the other. But Cafe World really stuck with me. Don't know why. I don't even know how to cook all that well. So now that all my heart and soul has just been poured out to you please know that I might be seeing some of you around again real soon.

Garage Sale Finds

I am a garage sale, yard sale, auction girl, and well even dumpster diving one point in my life junkie. Today was the jackpot in the garage sale department. I like to go to the ones that the whole neighborhood participates in. The only thing that bothers me is that way back in the day we used to be able to walk house to house and find the deal of the century. Now they are scattered because people are just to busy with other things going on in their lives.

Prices on things are terrible, I know that times have changed and all but what the heck! C'mon people it's a garage sale not a consignment shop. I understand if you really have valuable items, antique that is. Oh well, I came across some finds and that was all I could do was to be happy for the day. I also encountered a lot of lemonade stands. The children trying to make a few bucks for them, I am always happy to pitch in extra although a big THANK YOU would be nice. So parents, if your kids are going to do this. Make sure that they are polite. It does go along way.

On These Hot Days

On these hot days that we have been having I have been wanting to run naked through the sprinkler at the park. But you know I would end up in jail and all the mommas and papas would be freaking out. Well damn its hot out what the hell do you expect from me. I have boobs, so what? I have a bush so what? Why does it matter that I can't express myself the way I want even though they say self expression is terrific.

Ok, so when it's cool in the house.. We like to watch hot and steamy movies, the ones that make you wish you were in the movie scene itself. For instance my first encounter with a Lesbian film was probably Better Than Chocolate ( 1999) even though I came out way before then it was probably the only movie that I could watch in my bedroom alone without my roommates knocking down the door. I saw that movie about 8 times in about two months. There are a lot of great films and a lot of great information if you want to read a tid bit more. Simple things in ones life especially my own recently have caused my life to do a complete 360 in about a week. I have done so much to get where I am today that I could never imagine living my life simple again after a blood clot. This blood clot has a new meaning for me and that is "living my life Simple again." Here is my short story to try and help others.

Do you know or are you aware of what a DVT is? A few short months ago I would have said what? huh? what are you talking about? I had no clue. Now I wished I was more educated in that department and now I am more educated in everything that has to do with my body.

For several weeks my right leg was throbbing, I thought it was a sprained hamstring or something to that nature. Of course I always self diagnose myself on the Internet so of course that is what it should have been. I waited until to go to my Dr. after the weekend. I should have went to the Emergency Room. I was in so much pain, I could not breath, walk, talk, cry, do anything except sit and lay down in agonizing pain. We did not know what was going on and I thought it was just a strain of some kind.

Deep Vein Thrombosis: Signs and Symptoms

Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT) occurs when a blood clot forms in one of the deep veins of your body, usually in your legs.

Swelling, usually in one leg
Leg pain or tenderness
Reddish or bluish skin discoloration
Leg warm to touch

These symptoms of a blood clot may feel similar to a pulled muscle or a “Charlie horse,” but may differ in that the leg may be swollen, slightly discolored, and warm. Contact your doctor if you have these symptoms, because you may need treatment right away.

I didn't have all of these symptoms. So we were not even sure that it was a clot. But as soon as I went to my Dr. she immediately sent me to imaging and I went from imaging to the ER. Of course they do a full work up with blood tests etc. I didn't care I just wanted this pain to go away.
Since I am allergic to most pain killers and they don't really want you to use any kind of Ibuprofen when you have a clot. They had to relieve my pain with a high dose of it anyhow this one time. I was feeling much better in about an hour. But it wasn't over just yet.

I was put on Warfarin a.k.a. Rat Poison but because of the medications I take for other things it was causing my INR's to go bonkers. INR stands for International Normalized Ratio. Monitoring of the INR is essential because too high an INR puts an individual at risk for bleeding and too low an INR at risk for clotting. There are four different ways to get your INR tested and warfarin adjusted: I would go into my clinic every week and have my blood drawn. After several failed attempts at the pill. I decided to take the Lovenox Shots once a day for the rest of my life if needed.

Most Doctors and staff will ask you if you have been on a plane trip anywhere that you sat for a long period of time! In my case, no but I do sit at this computer for at least 10 hours a day. Even though I do get up and move about I still got the blood clot. So if you are reading this today or just skimming throughout it. Please for me stop what you are doing and wiggle those toes, walk for 13 minutes, stretch and get educated about Stopping the Clot.

I would cry every time I had to give myself that "shot" but after doing this for a month and then two I realized it could cost me my life if I didn't. Thank goodness for insurance because a 3 month supply of them costs over $2,000. Which is quite a shame. What happens to all those who aren't covered? We hope that there are people out there who can help. Check the bottom of my blog for prescription assistance. Unfortunately this is only available to the United States.
