'It Works' - Face Transplants Now Mainstream

They savor pizza and burgers, no longer frighten children, and many of them can walk the streets without people knowing they have someone else's cheeks, nose, lips and skin. People who have had face transplants increasingly are going public, helping to transform an operation that six years ago was daredevil theory into one that is widely accepted.

At least 18 face transplants have been done around the world, starting with a French woman mauled by her dog in November 2005, said Dr. Maria Siemionow, at Cleveland Clinic. She did the first face transplant in the U.S. in December 2008.

Rivera gave up a three-run homer to pinch-hitter Russell Branyan on his first pitch in the ninth before getting two outs for his 30th save.

Rick Perry says he wants the presidency as he inches closer toward a bid

Texas Governor Rick Perry has yet to officially jump into the 2012 presidential race, but in a recent Time interview, he affirmed that at the very least he wants to run - and that he's "calm in his heart that this is what I'm supposed to be doing."
Speculation of a Perry presidential bid has been building for weeks - and many expect him to make his decision clear in remarks this weekend in South Carolina.
In the meantime, however, the conservative Texan is hardly masking his apparent ambitions: When asked by Time's Mark Halperin if there was an "open question" about whether or not he planned to run, Perry suggested he had already made up his mind in the affirmative.
"I wouldn't be this far into the process.... The issue of, 'is this what I want to do?' was dealt with about 45 days ago in a conversation with my wife," he told Halperin. "Prior to that, no. Being the President of the United States was not on my radar screen from the standpoint of something I wanted to do."

US Mortgages rates keep falling

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Just when it seemed mortgage rates weren't going to get any lower, they started testing new lows.
In the tumultuous days following Standard & Poor's debt downgrades, rates on 30-year fixed mortgages fell to 4.32%, down from 4.39% last week and closed in on a record low of 4.17% set last November, according to Freddie Mac's Primary Mortgage Market Survey.
Rates on 15-year fixed mortgages set a new record for the second week in a row, falling to 3.5%, down from 3.54% last week.

Steve Stricker had a shot at history at PGA 2011

Stricker missed a 10-foot birdie putt at his final hole Thursday, failing to become the first player to shoot 62 in a major championship. But he had no complaints about settling for a 7-under score and the opening-round lead at Atlanta Athletic Club.

"I realized it was for 62 but didn't realize it was for history," Stricker said. "I hit a good putt. It just didn't go in. All in all, a good day."

One lucky Minnesotan purchased the Powerball numbers that won the $228.9 million jackpot. It is considered as the largest payout in the state’s history of the lottery. All the numbers in the ticket matched the jackpot that was drawn on August 10 of this year and these are 11-18-36-41-46 and 38, the Powerball. According to lottery officials, the odds of winning the jackpot was placed at 1 in 195.2 million. The winner will have a choice of taking the jackpot as a lump-sum cash payment or in 30 payments done annually for 29 years. The cash option for this jackpot is $124 million and taxes will be applied.
