ALL FOR THAT ELUSIVE LOVE

EVERY THING IS FAIR IN LOVE AND WAR. Not surprising to win a love war is fought. History and civilization are witnessed of it. Hence many legends and folk lore are here to amuse us with heroic battle of love.

But history is after all history, isn’t it? But what about, when we we sight repeats of history in daly life. In a everyday life couples usually wage war of love or rather claim for love or more love. Even the rising graph of divorce isn’t a result of disillusioned love. In which the partners naively claim and ask for more and get disillusioned. I feel if there isn't any love in life there won’t be any disappointment.

“I love you more than anyone else” between spouses is perennial proclamation where no one is ready to duck.

Once one of my acquaintances with grown up children, furiously disclosed-“my husband even after decades of marriage does not listen me. But anything which come from his mother and sibling side he believes with exaltation as a word of bible.” With teary eyes she sobbed-“after 20 year of marriage still in his life his family is more important than me”.

Her innocent complain about her husband filled me with pride. As in her complain I saw strong bond of family values and a true seeking of wife. I felt “aren’t fed with these values our tradition survived so strongly.” I revered her longing, and tried to show her reason, “if he doesn’t value you how come, even today he came to drop you at work place. “Don’t feel bad he loves you passionately”. My reasoning didn’t satiate her at the aggrieved moment.

But this tug of war is common sight and noise of Indian marriage which usually passes from mother to daughter but seeking never vanishes.

So honestly I am not an exception. Every now and then the mortal feeling seems to loom larger. So to nip the problem at the bed I decided to take furtive action rather than wait and watch the right moment to down.

As I believe in taking care of syndrome rather than wait for full grown ailment. And to handle my case dexterously and I have been taking action before hand.And it is here as free advice to everyone else.

SO AT HOME I MADE SOME RULES FOR MY HUBBY DEAR. When I suggest anything to him, right after completion. I mention him what is being expected to him, next as a reaction? “After listening me you are expected to nod in affirmation with comments or you can say, “I fully agree with you.” And after that there is no restriction for using positive adjectives for me to compliment your nodding.

But my enlightened hubby never gives any ear to these trivial. At home he is solely interested in clean cloth, homely meal, good bath and sleep. So like an enlightened one he never wastes his time in argument.

Amidst all well documented and represented arguments of mine, he looks at me like an innocent preschool child asking for more dal or water- chewing mouthful of food.

In his opinion “I know the level of wife –“you can get angry but you shall never ….”and then his believes and faiths block all arguments and I realize futility of it. After all in this short life when there is less time for love where is place for argument. Love and live life to its fullest.

Taming the unknown territory of “what if”

What does propel us in the horizon of “what if”-the fear?

Is it stress, tired body, unaware mind, weak physical or mental frame, unfavorable planetary position or one’s inability to correct it?

If these are potential magnets of fears then why don’t we discard them permanently to make peace our everlasting companion? As we are taught that the fear always exists in future never in present but it troubles the present moment.

Perhaps, “fear” is the companion of seekers, which need complete aware and persistent effort to curb it.

The means taken to control it are myriad-maintaining good physical and mental strength by meditation, breathing exercise and yoga etc. Each applied effort takes own course and time to work.

Let’s hope to achieve the goal as the seeking has already been started.

How truly republican are we?

Once again another republic day came-63rd republic day. Through the chores, a line of leading daily flashed in consciousness, “True republicanism is the sovereign of people” of a French revolutionary, Marqueise De Lafatte.”

How truly republican are we? A muse of commoner,it just persisted,like a stubborn child.As the day progressed every sight of republic day ceremony at work place to back home, through out the day I had been seeking the meaning of true republicanism and our sovereignty as a citizen of sovereign republic.

Further, the promises of constitution’s preamble sank in- our constitution ensures it's citizen right to justice, liberty, equality and fraternity

.
But day to day experiences sometimes don't match the promises. Aren't the path of these promises hurdled enough?

Are these mean to stay in texts only? The muse crossed the mind.

But as contemplation became intense, the inner voice answered-15 august, the day of independence is the outer victory of physical means. In which we had chased away the British and rejoiced our independence. But independence without partaking responsibility is half lost battle. So we constituted law for humane lives

.
But to regain our true republic inner change is must in we citizens. Through our faith and accountable work in democratic republic we bring its visibility in lives. But this requires honesty and willingness to work for it.

But how long the fight for republican set up will last? We have all ready wasted 63 years. Our dream of sovereign republic is rusted by the corruption (that blocks justice and liberty) and greed (that breeds discrimination and inequality) of society.

Thus reality of being sovereign in daily life is still a dream for us. In our household and in public life, are women really enjoying emancipation? Do we as commoner get justice that we deserve? Do as a tax payer we ever get the account of our invested money by the government.

A sigh comes to grasp acceptance to all. After all these become a habit to us. And it is going to be like that until we acknowledge and fight to get rid of it. But how and how long..?

The windy air

While typing the last few words on laptop I glanced on the clock. It had already 6.00p.m. I had to get ready for dinner at an inaugural function. Anticipating a longer outing at night I switched the TV for current forecast.

One after another the sequels of women atrocities that range from five yrs old victim to forty plus flashed on the screen.

In yellow lights of MUV, the zooming engine had been piercing through the woods of plateau region. A narrow stretch of metalled road was reflecting in front. Through the abound chitterling of crickets the atmosphere was fragrant with flowers of Palash.

The air of advanced spring at 7.30 was breezy. The darkness was serene except for occasional distant howling of jackals.

I regretted my decision to visit the place after the dusk before dusk the scenery around could have been better enjoyed. The drive through the forest to guest house was of about forty minutes.

After the drive of more than fifteen minutes through the woods Bidyut the driver seemed clueless and turned the vehicle at different passes. Puzzled in local dialect he yielded I took the wrong turn. “Hmm…. ask someone,” suggested Adi.

In past twenty minute we had crossed occasional hamlets along the path. Most of the routes were deserted through the forest. In abundance the orange blooms of Palash were strewn on the road.

When the vehicle took a turn and rode a bump we saw a girl in red attire was standing at the turning. At the turn the vehicle moved swiftly and I caught the glimpse of her big eyes. At the distance others were too heading in groups.

“They are going for Bihu festival’s fair ”- Bidyut mentioned. We were hearing the faint chorus of folksong at the distance with rhythmic beats.

The ride for next ten minute again passed in silence listening the howls of wilds and occasional rhythm of beats. The grooves of bamboo were on both the sides of the road.

Fortunately after sometime an old man was seen walking on the path with a girl behind him. Ask them Adi retorted- “you came many times at this side.” “But that was during the day,” countered Bidyut.

Nearing them Bidyut rolled down the glass. The duo stopped - in local dialect the old man explained something pointing to a side lane. I felt girl’s gaze on me. The moment I moved my attention to her the vehicle moved ahead. Thus I managed only the glimpse of her big, longing eyes and red attire. Bidyut slowed down the vehicle and they walked ahead with us for the time being to show the right lane.

I moved to Adi thank god, we found the way. When the vehicle moved ahead both of them were still standing at the corner of the road. With gratitude I viewed them from the rear screen. Her expressive eyes were still at me.

The MUV took the turn through the thick bamboo groove on its side and in five minutes we were at the venue.

In dining hall for women I took the place at the far corner near the window. Through the windy breeze the folk songs with vibrations of beats strained through the open windows.

At the central courtyard of quest house the presentation of local artiste was going on. To continue the sequel of the events the artiste were passing through the passage near our chairs. Again I felt a gaze on me through the passing group. The same girl in red attire, while moving ahead she smiled. Her smile and gaze puzzled me.

Around mid night we were heading back to home, a forest official was accompanying us on the front seat. Then the vehicles were coming out in fleets. After the drive of few minutes MUV rode to the single strip road.

“Few hours back a fair was going on here nearby- somewhere near a side lane. We had asked the path and had taken the route,” Bidyut broke the silence after the ride of five minutes.

Ranger stated solemnly –“only a single strip goes up to five kilometers and after that the nearest hamlet starts.”

Next day I saw her image in the local news paper, she was the daughter of an old man.A local had persuaded her in the relationship promising to marry. But after a while he stopped responding to marriage proposal-the girl fed up with his sexual advance had been seeking help. Unable to cope with dishonor and bad name, she ended her life.

I was dumbfounded. Why was I getting her frequently? Why the red attire and her eyes were so evocative? Whether she was aware I had recently been helping and working with local women commission. Was she wanted to be heard and knowingly following me everywhere or was its just a coincidence?

Faithful ally-the whiff

The whiff or the breath is the oldest ally of ours- the everlasting companion. It is the reflection of self. Still it is most ignored and forgotten aspect of the body. The whirling brain has indiscriminately exploited it and negative emotions further plundered it with reactions. But as a faithful companion it accompanies us throughout our lives and has endured all apathy of ours.

The whiff is the inner reflection of self. The ongoing emotion of mind shows in the breath. Vice versa the dormant wizard breathe too holds magic to change the thought pattern.

Every thought consumes energy. But the worst plunderers are negative emotions as they create more reactions. Reaction is an active process which saps energy and leaves one fatigued.

Thought courses the breathing patterns. Under positive emotions of love, happiness and gratitude-it remains calm and relaxed. But under negative emotions like-anger, hurt and indecision it becomes shallow, unsteady and rough.
So when thoughts can change the course of breath. Breath too holds magic to change the thought patterns.

To bring best of ours and the best of life, the deep,calmer and steady breath works best for us. As the calm breath supply enough of oxygen and nutrient to body cells and brings the best of physiological activities.

To bring it to best, attention is needed. Meditation and breathing techniques induces the calmness in whiff. The calm,deep and steady breath is the the elixir of all cure and healing techniques(but it should not be forced in certain medical conditions and can be undertaken by the help of skilled guide). It is the savior of all biological processes. We must work on it.

A view of whiff through different angles-
On physiological level- It aids physiological functioning of body. As the transporter of nutrients, oxygen and remover of toxicity/detoxifier, it is the supplier of basic amenities of the cells.

On religion level- it represents Lord Hanuman-the son of Lord of Vayu -Ajani-known as Pawanputra. The Lord Hanuman-the breath acts as a bridge to sustain body-supply fuel to mind and body. It provides life force energy as breath therefore japa of Hanuman mantra strengthens physical body. The worship of Lord Hanuman is under taken to increase vigor and earning capacity.

The Ram represents Prusha –the spirit-and the consort Ma Sita represents- the physical body. Lord Rama an incarnation of Lord Vishnu is the sustainer of life.
It suggests us that the breath (Lord Hanuman) has power to tune the mind(Ram) and body(Ma Sita) and brings best of vitality.

On Astrological level-the breath- Lord Hanuman represents the planet Mars- the planet of physical strength. Calm ,deep and steady whiff is a sign of vitality. A good physical strength ensures good health and earning power.

All of us are the best arbitrator of our lives. Are the intellects still doubt the correct course? I don’t think so, have a good day and best of vitality!

The reluctant food writer

My reluctance to write food articles have nothing to take as dearth of readership. But something else, as bloggers are congenially bore. They are aerial souls, who get delight to soar the sky instead to walk. So some maniac behaviors are normal to some of them. When everybody in the bash talks, they prefer mum and scrutinize others. Back home when the normal unwinds in front of TV and cozily snugs in the bed, the marooning soul will torment the brain to stir out stuffs.

Now back to the work, food article! Yes, I do cook for my family. My favorite watch on TV is TLC. Does merely watching TLC qualify one as a food writer? I mean here, that I researched enough how to present the words and foods items aesthetically.

But real crook here is something else! The muse of food comes to me in terms of calories and its benefit. Whenever I cook my attention gets fixed on calorie and taken oil rather than taste. Recently during Holi festival while frying the bara- my attention was in the frying oil, maintaining the heat as over heating at smoking level is not conducive to health- it increases the LDL –the bad cholesterol. The entire concept of molecular biology was floating in the frying pan. Naturally the baras were of different geometrical shape. With accumulating guilt I completed the frying work, incurring the karmic effect of sinful act-to load the unsuspecting family members to those extra…..

When I dine I say hello to those few recipes only which my palate is acquainted. The fusion food and all different genres of experimental food appeal me visually only. I don’t see any valid reason to try them. The pretext of trying food of distant shore makes me nostalgic and I get feel of bartering my own family members to foreigners.

Any sweet dessert gives a good quiver to my pancreas. Even the soft textured syrupy gulab jamun hardly entice me. No I don’t have ailment, instead I horrify to have one! While eating and viewing others, I get more concerned about how a poor pancreas would have to cope up with the barbaric attitude of the diner. I am always towards the rescuers side rather than inflictor.

Still there is hope I can write about diet food, not a bad idea after all. “But any way, who is going to eat the stuff of my research?-I and hubby,” he cannot escape me. As a newlywed on several occasions he had boosted my spirit by mouthing terrible stuffs cooked by me, simply to check my tears and guilt-earning my faith in parents’ choice and arrange marriage. Children cannot be trusted. Perhaps I missed to inculcate politeness in them that to refuse food doesn’t come as good manner.

Now a pertinent point to mull! After all we have five sense organs, then why to encourage single one. Listening to palate only! Are the over activation of taste buds and single zone of brain good idea, not at all? Distribute the work and engage every sense organ to use. Instead of eating enjoy watching the color and smell of the food. Why to strain the system by eating it and loading the unwanted calories?

So what is going to be food item of my write up? Well, salads-easy to make and rich source of nutrients, tea-full of antioxidant and brain booster, sprouts- full of beneficial enzymes, roughage and toxin buster. Quite confident! Yes, I can write about any.

But, now feeling a bit uncomfortable- a pang in the stomach! In the evening with a cup of tea I had started the musing. It is dinner time now, better to take refuge in food cooked by my help and postpone the idea for the while. Good night!

The stuck up lives

The roaring train thumped into the platform and a sudden motion surged over there. The emptying of trash bin and unloading of furnishing started.

Putting at the shoulder the nylon net of collected empty water bottles Vilash walked off with Malesh and Tulsi. He tied the lower edge of the shirt to put sachets of edibles which he had got from train.

The western fringe of the platform was joined with the slum. They stepped out of the station and crossed the drain. The over powering stench of uncollected garbage and excreta signaled him the border of slum. The nauseating smell would tell him – his breakfast time of Paw with fried snacks-before to pick up the day’s job. After scrutinizing the trash occupied place they mounted the fenced wall of railway’s colony for their breakfast. The congestion had been rising day by day as the station was getting bigger and busier.

Just outside the platform the smell and the slums were the shock of the city for the first timers. Especially the foreigners who gape abhorrently the contrasts of the city-the muck and the heritage site of the city. But still, the open soaring trash and littered garbage had been the fact- a part of the city though a contrast to- swanky- would be- world class platform, like their lives and the lives of well to do.

The day’s soaring mercury ensured the brisk business to him and in few hours he hurried the sale of more than half dozen of sealed fake water bottles. Only few had left in net, might be he would have to frequent the slum for another dozen!

The descending sun had mellowed the heat. Sitting on the bridge he had been watching the commuters of the elite train who were trading the way carefully evading the glance of choked drain and heaped trash.

Till evening he had filled the quota of his twice meal. At night he never cared for food. To soothe the strain of the day he had been depending upon the sniffs. Sleeping along the deserted dividers the starry night would herald nightmares to him. For last couple of years he had been on the seduction of adhesive sniffs for night sleep. The enforced drowsiness would blur the reality of dark hours and nightmares.

Near the dividers at night with other children he would huddle to sleep. The hard come sleep would vague the difference of glitz urbane crowd and Spartan life of choking drain and repelling smell.

During the visit of VIPs and big events in the city they would have to evade the platform. Then they would move to the parking bay for buses, right across the old station building.

Few years back during the raid the children had been picked up by the cops and were sent to a NGO for night shelter and learning. For two years he had been to a school and had learnt to read. He remembered the quotes of his school day about the Kashmir, “ if there is heaven on the earth it is here ,here, here.” he glanced upon the trash and drain and mused about renovating platform-the disparity of places.

Few railway officials walked ahead putting the handkerchief on nose. “ The smell is disgusting.” Another added-“It amazes me how such obnoxious air can prevail for such a long time even on this busiest Metros platform.” But before making the report make it clear-“What can be done to refurbish it?

He moved ahead near the bridge and stumble upon heaps of garbage. The uncollected muck had been a play ground and treasures of some good finds for them.

He moved from the fetid, unhygienic environment to sparkly railway station. The election was round the corner so it was declared as world class station. The work of renovation was going inside, the adjoining areas had been renovated. The new garbage bins were placed at regular intervals with dark plastic bags neatly tucked inside. These days not a single bin was overflowing with trash. The sweepers were swooping down on every piece of discarded paper, food packets, plastic cups and other trash. There was not any filth on the station. The bags were removed from the bins before they start spilling over. He trudged the foyers of the platform which was being sprinkled with water to settle the dirt.

Till dawn to dusk the day changed, the sparking world class place would transform into appalling sights after the walk of few yards -akin to his life. The day again passed and the next dawn ascended but every change and move would be same for him. To pass another day of non waiting..in the array of movements the stuck up lives of theirs…

The paradoxical faiths of life

Hardships-the package of opportunities-pushed aside by all of us-so we push the opportunities. Hardship entails tackling the unknown-venturing the unknown territories. It is creator of fear so it is shunned. Every opportunity involves risks. Calculated risks (according to our strength) are necessary for progress.

Calmness or equanimity- mistaken as vegetative stage of being or renouncing the life and world-it is the state of complete alertness with total relaxation. A state of total awareness in witness mode gives clarity of the circumstances. To achieve the state- a regular practice is needed.

Peace-the thing of ascetic or can be striven at old age. Is the present age or time is entitled to slave in negative thoughts and misery or to waste in agitated state and tension? Or is a time to harbor the unpleasant thoughts – a product of unaware mind? Or allowing all those negative thoughts to root inside for long so ruining the mind and body it can create ailment in long run. EVERY AILMENT HAS CAUSE IN MIND.

Anger- view as a tool of strength- in fact it a sign of weakness- a weak person gets threatened easily and shows anger unable to cope up with situation. To beat the blue and anger- an exercise of compiling the self must be taken by us so we should not waste energy. Anger dissipates energy- it is like poison.

Perception of world -Usually by many of us the world and people are viewed as competitor. I have seen many people in life they are always at competition - at home, at work place and everywhere. They generate competitor at first step and starts competing losing the bliss of the moment and work in hand.

We are not here to impress anyone and the world outside. We are here with our own special talent to display with complete fullness according to our potential. We are here to enjoy the bliss of life giving complete awareness to the work in hand and to enjoy the moment. Success and failure are all relative in the world. No success is ever final so any failure cannot be allowed to be fetal.

The hurdles of success reside inside us-as inertia, procrastination and compliance-which restrict the growth and best of ours. The world for us must exist inward to outward. First we organize our inner world, instinctively it will handle the outside world in best way.

Spirituality- a refuge of non action or like renouncing the world. It is actually art and science of life- a sure shot technique of empowered life- yoga, japa (the vibrations have the power to tune the mind and body),Hindu figurines (energy patterns like Yantra-has certain pattern, color and symbols to understand- empowered tools to restore the lost mental and physical strength). To achieve these a regular practice and understanding require.

Bhagwat Gita –a book of elderly people meant for old age. It is the best book of human psychology-in the form of Krishna-the self- how to strength it (the self)? The mental frame and gain best of life is illustrated-a crying need of today’s world- for youths as well as for all of us.

In today’s life-where childhood ends at twelve and thirteen years- a teenager and twenty plus(and all of us) are seen coping with all insecurities or fighting the world-that range from fear, loneliness, peer pressure, careers, coping with failed affairs and sex/marital problems.

Under the friction of harsh world often the sustainability of life raises the skepticism -how long the throat cut life style allows one to breath in.? Sometimes life seem totally on the mercy of nature that raises question on their sustainability whether he/she will be able to push it for longer or peril in depression or in more unfortunate grave decision…

In this era of roving insecurities it time to precept right and wrong and choose the savior for protection.

The plateau village

Walking behind the herd of goats Topno stopped near the red tower alighted on the rugged earth few years back. In the last two years many pyramid shaped red block towers had been erected imperiously on village hillocks over the bay of Sapura.

At the foot of the hill he walked over the remnant of the bridge that never got built. The concrete stump was hidden under the over grown grass and mosses. The flashes of memories dismayed him further.

The sequel of disturbances created by the Maoist had sucked the development works of the bridge. And then under the threat fearing for their lives engineers and construction workers left the site. The construction work of the bridge once had been a regular means of hearth and home for villagers like him. Now the thoughts of paucity stricken summer on Mahua blossoms marooned his face.

Since morning the urgency bent urbane crowd was pushing to the otherwise desolate Sapura. Last evening the abduction of big official had suddenly awakened the geography of his oblivion village. For naive villagers the fleet of officials’ vehicles and lens lashed journalists stranded in his remote village were both startling and amazing.

His remote village of thousand square areas was pulsating to the life with urgency stricken crowd. The non access of basic amenities over there had been proving ordeals for official visitors and TV journalists. Thus the ongoing debate of the no man’s land was the no accessibility of Mobile network, potable water and electricity. But for him and other village folks it was the way of life.

A decade back a dam had been built on river Mogini that had added another figment to their woes. First the government took the land of villagers and tribal. Under the forced eviction many dispersed in the adjoining areas and got scattered across hills and forests in cut off areas.

A private company was roped in to build a dam over there.The built electricity was being sold by the state government to neighboring state. The darkness seemed allure to the Maoists and best refuge to their activities.

Under the dark cover the business of abduction by the Maoists warmed the tribal areas, sending the already poverty ridden village to another shock. And now the government every move of development –pension schemes for senior citizens and social benefits were drawing wrath of Maoists.

The industrialization- initiated to develop the zone-by the government had added further figment of hardships to their lives-one more twist of fiction. Now the government had been grabbing the land at throw-away prices, pushing scores of them in abject poverty–and then an another forced displacement was waiting for him. Are you feeling low? Isn’t catering the mood is a costly affair as it depletes energy and wastes time. In the fiscal language it is like squandering the money mindlessly at one hand and complaining about the perennial poverty at the other hand. Nobody likes misery but it shadows one uncalled.

What exactly is the extravagant mood?
It is a feel of defocused mental state. Usually strikes one in physically and mentally stressed state. It grips one intermittently as a habit and pattern. IF A HABIT CAN BE FORMED IT CAN BE BROKEN ALSO.

Then why not analyze it when it strikes us?
It will be amazing to find that actually we are willingly and willfully making ourselves miserable. It is our choice to make ourselves miserable. Not convinced just try it.

How to tackle the vicious cycle of low mood?
Simply be aware of the moment that you are in low mood or feeling low.
Just try to keep the feel of low being aware of its presence. When the low mood diverts at other point bring it back to its position. Try to devote full day on low mood consciously.
Amazingly you won’t be able to carry it for long.

Reason-the feel of low needs ground of passivity or unawareness, a kind of surrendering to it. It grips when one is physically or mentally stressed.
The moment one starts taking care of self by being aware of its presence, it is bound to leave him/her.

To utilize our full potential we must remove low moods from our mental mirror.
One should introspect each day in order to understand the nature of his mood, and how to correct it.

More often fighting with bad mood doesn’t help instead it leaves one more tired and frustrated. Sometimes whatever is suggested does not help as one is simply not interested and finds difficult to incorporate it practically.

To save time and energy we should not waste the day by surrendering ourselves to bad mood. Make up the mind that we are not going to be moody anymore; and if mood comes in spite of the resolve, it is better to analyze the cause that brought it on and do something constructive about it.

Shiva is our truest self-the real self-our inner most core and Shivaratri, the transcendental night or a night of wakefulness. Thus traditionally it is celebrated to awaken our universal consciousness or transecend the self to higher conscious.

Shivaratri usually celebrated in or around the month of March.At this time of year the Sun stays in Northern horizon that makes the life sustaining sun power or life force energy helpful to build health.Thus this time of the year acts as the conducive time to cleanse the system and to uplift the Shiva Tattva of ours- the self.

As the Shivaratri is celebrated in spring when the earth revolution and position of the Sun too aid the restoration programme on earth. That is why the arrival of spring is cheered by us as festive season and nature replenishes itself anew after wintry earth.

On the night of Shivaratri - inner rest that is the cessation of thoughts and creation of stillness inside brings physiological and psychological functions at best of ease.

It is perfect time to undertake and experience the inner rest(Samadhi-a state of witness mode that is detachment) as it acts as cleanser and rejuvenation mechanisms for the body and mind.

On Shivaratri- the whole universe the sky and earth- the day and night-the male and female aspects of the body(mind and body)-can be brought in harmony concentrating on Shiva Tattva– the Ekalinga-the Atma- the Self.

Shiva also known as god of destruction and Shivaratri we celebrate in the spring .It is the season of replenishment- a time to shed or destruct all inhibitions, negativities and illnesses-by supporting ourselves with fasting, japa(Om Namah Shivay)and right food.

Shiva –the Shankara, San-who gives peace and bestows boon and Kara-the one who does good.
Shivaratri is the time to surrender ourselves to Shiva Tattva (to uplift the self)-so we can save ourselves from the Tandava (the emotional outbursts) and the dance of conscious(thoughts) which often lead us to indecision and fall in life. The emotional upheaval ruins the health.

To strengthen the mind and body, it is the perfect time to surrender the self to Lord Shiva-the permanent and eternal source of our being –the self.

In the stillness of real self the union of transcendental Shiva(the mind)and Shakti(the body)-the primordial and dynamic energy is a strengthening exercise.

Supported by fasting (fasting helps to detoxify the body) the simple chanting of mantra-“Om Namah Shivah”(which cleanses and aligns the body chakras) helps in strengthening the vitality.

It is time to realize the harmony(the brahmn) in all dual aspects of our body-matter(physical body)and energy(mind), prakriti(nature,earth, body) and purusha(universe,sky,mind,spirit)-drava(substance,flesh,body)-guna(nature, behavior, quality).

The festive night of awareness i.e. Shivaratri beckons us to work on our superlative conscious by destructing the inertia and giving away the passivity of self.

So the Shiva(the real self) inside us perpetually work to its fullest, supported by Satyam(abiding the truth)and Sundaram(in the superlative of self). Let’s invoke it inside us –so we can give our best to all our efforts.

Typed few lines …(the eyed widened admiringly “how intellectual I am- only while I comment on the write up of different blogs the winged concord of language fly off like a treacherous fellow). “What to do?”- it was kitchen call –whistling cooker or buzzing oven.

“Hey I am able to catch my thoughts now I have every reason and might to torture people. How aptly these days I dole out recipes to bore others?” “How intellectual am I?” (Others are vernacular dumb and mute).

My sharpest intellect can parallel with PM’s brain. How he maintains his cool among all scams and clamors of opposition. I too maintain my calm through my ever changing portfolios and clamors of unfinished works. My portfolios changes in after every fifteen minutes (others don’t multitask as they stay on other planet).

Marriage a pivot of life as it ensures lifelong companionship to gregarious human beings and mental and emotional support to every phase of life.

The vows taken by the individuals during marriage are-
“To have and to hold from this day forward, for better, for worse, for richer, for poorer, in sickness and in health, to love and to cherish, till death do us apart.”

It is a reunion meant to support two individuals throughout of their lives. It is a wisdom oriented device of nature to sustain the species on the planet. For that it equipped the individuals with hormones induced attraction.

But more often the purpose of the institution seems to fail. What exactly does the rising graph of matrimonial discord point? On the broad level the cited reason is incompatibility. Even in the cases where the vows were taken after the courtship of enough time. And it had cleared the all compatibility test of love and attunement earlier.
Still it failed to evolve with time and stagnancy crept inside choking and lastly sapping the entire vitality out of the relationship.

Everything first works on fine level then the gross form shapes in the universe. Every acclaimed action of the universe manifests first in thoughts then it breathes to life. MARRIEGE MUST BE ALLOWED TO GROW WITH TIME AS THE STAGNANCY SAPS VITALITY OUT OF IT.
When the person never gives a thought to grow beyond the triviality of lower level of energy and thought a time comes when the full grown effect of uncontrolled desires engulf the life. How does it affect him on the physical level?

Let have a glance according to Vedic wisdom.
Root Chakra-the Mooladhar Chakra- the physical chakra which imparts strength and sustenance when healed. Situated at the base of the spine it is the seat of the desires. When unhealed it shows the unsatiating craving for worldly possessions and wealth.

The relationships of spouses who possess uncontrolled desires get stuck only in worldly possession and wealth. The means and happiness of relationship they draw satiating their worldly possessions by showcasing the clothes, jewels and stuffs. The desires are endless so they are bound to be unfulfilled after a point of time. And when the very purpose does not get fulfilled it questions the stability of relationship.

Hara Chakra-the Swadisthan Chakra –or the emotional chakra- when union of the two individual occurs at the level of this chakra empathy gets created between the two. It is often taken as bonding and love.

When the Hara Chakra of partners is not healed they show emotional insecurities in the relationships. Out of insecurities they try to control one another and eventually the relationship wilts.

Solar plexus- the chakra of power and wisdom- in healed condition the person exhibit strong will power.

The union between partners of strong will power shows a selfless attitude in relationships. And the marriage would be based on strong will of selfless love.

The heart chakra- also known as chakra of love- a chakra when healed opens gate of gratitude. The heart chakra gets healed only when both upper and lower chakra are balanced and healed.

Gratitude opens the opulence in the life- when the individual leaves ‘ego’. The ego binds the person with false perception and it checks growth and love in life.

In marriage when the partners starts the life without any expectation. They respect and give space to each other and do not force another to conform. The union blossoms in selfless love. This kind of couple show undying love for one another. They turn into the picture of Ardhnareswer . The lives of such couples are so much tuned- as in their life success, growth and prosperity make realization permanently.

Throat chakra- controls metabolism in body when the chakra is healed – it imparts truthfulness, strength and good values and better physical capacity which is counted as good working capability.

When the union between two individual exists at this level both of them give best to their lives. The relationship will be based on truthfulness. Both of them will be true to their relationship. The strong mental and physical level will impart great character and strong personality to them. And strong mental and physical strength give the power to create health, wealth and long lasting bliss in life.

Love and relationship

Osho says, “Love is not mere an emotion , love is an expression of your whole being.” So it cannot be an overwhelming fleeting and when it passes leaving behind you an empty, shattered in sadness and in sorrow.”

Isn’t love the most precious of all emotions? Love gives wholeness and liberation of whole being. In love the world seems beautiful. Still maintaining the precious feel (love) is like walking the tightrope. At the best display like trapeze artistes love too keeps everyone in the crowd spellbound with their mesmerizing charm like trapeze artistes who keep spectators spellbound with their death defying leaps and acrobatics. So often, gaping a well maintained relationship leaves one open mouth as if one is watching the gravity defying tricks.

In love the care should be taken and the grip shouldn’t be stifling one otherwise it will block the growth of another partner. At the same time tightness (bonding) should be enough to maintain the affinity. A tight grip becomes an exercise of control, stifling the growth in the relationship and a tool for emotional blackmail.

Love is not like owning someone; on the contrary it is the liberation. When someone loves, he or she allows the other to acquire more autonomy through this love.

Love is always mistaken by most of us as overwhelming emotions. Flowing in an emotion ,overwhelms one and blurs the vision .The person loses clarity. As a result whatever comes in the name of overwhelming love comes out as wrong. Losing in emotion is like walking in black cloud, in which one gets lost.

Love is a blissful emotion. Love flow through us in balanced state of our being. Therefore in love we gain tremendous insight, clarity, sensitivity, awareness. To acquire the power of love a patient investment of commitment is required to achieve it. Therefore very few people realizes this true realization of life, others simply chase the boundary instead of map.

To create true love in life it has to be taken out from the emotional grip, the false teaching we received since our birth, and we have to find a route of it, which fortunately passes through us. Unless the love becomes perennial part of our being, it is not much different from pain, suffering and sadness.

Often people claim being in love but reality show them otherwise. As they seem to perennially live in skeptics or insecurities about the relationship either begging or seeking.

Love is a confidence always stems out unconditionally.

There is not any gain and lose in love as it gives the moments to cherish.

Love also gives a means to create something permanent in our lives.

Falling in Love

Love best of emotions….it happened! With all of its tingling and sensation….each time and every time whenever it showered!
I am not a teenager…..nor a twenty plus….but it happened….not once…but in succession...in my life…
The first brush was “with the best friend of my life... Pa. Yes he was from another gender…we had great difference not only in age but in length (height) too. Every morning I would peck a soft kiss on his rough face climbing on the bed. That time my peck had two different tastes and accordingly I would shower to him. Sweet one when he was good to me. Sour one when I wanted to see his mocked face of bad taste.
Next time it spelled on me-when I was twenty something-not exactly looking for it. Destined it showered and drenched me completely again in different way –as first time I saw a straight forwardness in some one, a holistic demeanor, and I got charmed with. Decades passed and many changes came in my role-I turned friend, councilor, teacher and leading lady of his life. Isn’t a lovely way to rule one’s life?
But best of love came few days ahead of his forecast delighting everyone in the family. Through dizzying weakness I had glanced the divinely love in my lap. The pristine was grippingly taking stock of the world around her in serenity.
In between staying among nature here at my place the first bond of love I generated with a canine. First time I realized their open reciprocation. The appreciation of truth –“they don’t follows human for food instead they truly understand love- that call for unconditional support."
Then at my Institution (my work place)… after parking the vehicle while I was hurrying towards the portico in drizzle, an umbrella came from nowhere to save me from discomfort of sogginess.
While meeting stressful moments of deadline when the class of sixty plus maintains pin drop silence to aid my concentration…Their love strengthen me.
During one of occupied moments when I had dropped my key accidently somewhere and a student ran behind me to produce it whom I had given the stern lesson a day before …his respect firmed my believe in love.
The list is longer. I wish and thank for all the love and loving moments of life to grow unlimited.
Love is divine

Love is giving
When you love

The silence prevailed in the classroom as everyone was busy in solving the questions with rapt attention. Walking in between the rows for the while I stopped near the table to put my specs on it.

After a while reverberation of distant cymbal drifted across the classroom. Following the source I gazed the cathedral across the road of a prestigious campus- a convent school.

Just out of university and with fizzy confidence I had cleared my first interview successfully at an Institution.

Moving towards the vehicle with the appointment letter in hand I had suddenly spectacled a splendid cathedral inside the campus of a prestigious school across the road. Perplexed I analyzed my miss to notice the magnificent Institution at the unfamiliar place.

Magnetically I moved towards it. A gothic cathedral was there at the entrance of the Institution with beautiful flower beds in front of it. Beside it there was a fenced pond with flocks of geese floating into it.

Next moment I found myself in carpeted waiting room of the esteemed Institution with testimonials in my hand. Inside the campus walk of missionary people in robes were complimenting the anglicized air of the Institution.

In the Principal’s room positivity and congeniality were rolling. My testimonials received appreciative look with few cordial queries and my application got accepted over there.

The season of spring enchanted inside when I was asked to join the same at the start of the session. Off course after clearing the written and interview that I was confident to clear at comparatively smaller place. And then flung the last query regarding my experience and naively I flashed my appointment letter from another school to him. That was the end of spring over there. A solemn expression reigned the principle’s face- “We don’t appoint teachers of neighboring school.” My one misplaced step had crushed the brilliant opportunity there in a moment.

Battling the mental debate for two years I worked at the previous school situated across the road. From the assembly till dismissal the silent comparisons would rule my mental frame-“the present work place” verses “that-esteemed- my would be Institution.”

Suitably qualified I was being paid nicely over there. In amiable work mores I had been given charge of computer and science lab. I was the class teacher of senior section. Still I had been working or rather preparing over there for the life of “ my would be Institution - the bigger-esteemed one-across the road.”

Every morning alighting out of the vehicle and walking through the cheery echoes and wishes of students I would steal the glances of “my school and flocks of my students’ appreciatively.

Day by day the determination to be at the best had been scaling- I was working on every details- on course materials, the subjects, the soft skills and computer. Although I had visited and worked at the campus of “my esteemed Institution” at several occasions- attending the science seminars and teachers’ workshop as an invitee teacher from other Institution.

And then at a point I felt enough and decided for a discrete talk over there to “my esteemed Institution.”

In next session according to ethic and rules I applied and got call for demo class over there. That was my chance to make an entry and for that I had been waited for long two years.

In the demo class I had to prove my gripping prowess- I had to grasp attention of the class- first to last desk. I had to invoke “whys?” at every possible step and provide apt solutions at best of ease. I had to make the explanation gripping without dropping the spirit of the class even for the moment.

Inside the class room the flashes of curious eyes, resonances of my explanations and shuffling of pages were only vibrations. In pin drop silence the class was jotting down the details explained by me. When the bell rang then I realized presence of the Principal at the back of the class.

During the recess I was asked by the students about my joining date. By the Vice Principal I was assigned work as regular staffs though my date of joining was due next month.

After the recess I was told to invigilate the mock tests of senior section. At the hall I got the sight of him- a person more than a decade older than me. My greeting startled him - he congratulated me and made a fast escape from the place. In the elation the first brush of seize I felt over there.

In the staff room he was the weakest among teachers and frown of every gaze. His departure over there was being viewed as the delights of the students and relief of the Institution.

Next day during the assembly, adoringly watching the flower beds my gaze followed a pair of worn out shoes. Ascending above the shoes I greeted him- again the same sadness engulfed me sapping my contentment. This time he came near me- composing himself he was explaining something about the unruly children, the obnoxious colleagues and many more things.

My eyes were unintentionally gripping the details- of his unspoken words - his forty plus age, a vivid picture of jobless house hold, the engulfing poverty that was raising ugly head from every possible corner of his persona, out of his worn out shoes and cuffs, his shaken self confidence, illogical explanation and incoherent choked voice, more intensely his painful, hopeless look.

Everything sent a shiver through me-“how long will I survive this heaviness?” I felt I had never wished for these sights. I wanted to move immediately as the entire cheer inside me had evaporated. There was complete loss of liveliness- the sweetness of long wait and my success all seemed so heavy to carry. To escape that heaviness I wanted to run away from there…

The key to success

“Nothing succeeds than success.” Success is the sweetest of all tastes. And off course a much needed and aspired recipe of good life? A much coveted thing for all of us. All of us are behind the success, perseveringly honing and working on our skills. Still few of us achieve it the while others get lost somewhere in the path.

More often curiously we analyze the success and failure graphs of different lives, to find out. Let’s analyze.

Taking a journey I bought the concise Bhagvad Gita while I was going through it one chapter caught my attention:

-Gyana or knowledge

-Karma or action

-And bhakti (a word which in today’s world hardly catches the fancy)

All words were heard and seen before there was not anything new in them. But the little perception unfolded a deep insight out of it. Amazingly I closed my eyes for the moment imbibing the depth of explanation and checked all pages as if I was going to get many more out of them. In that particular chapter, how different people accomplish their jobs were explained.

Gyani( a knowledgeable person)- when he performs his duty he reaches near the goal anchoring on his knowledge, still a gap remains in between him and the goal.

Karmi (the man of action) always believes in action, but amazingly he too fails to reach the goal. A little gap remains to reach the goal despite his believe in action.

But bhakta( a person of devotion) achieves his goal.

Gyani spent most of the time in discussion on the knowledge. Being aware of his knowledge the gyani (knowledgeable or intellectual) lived in vanity “ the ego”. Ego always limited a person.

Karmis thought I accomplished according to my potential and accepted the result. Karmis felt pride in his accomplishments. He too was not fully devoted as he worked to show his accomplishments.

But bhakta(the person of devotion) performed the job in blissful state(a mind full of love). He was neither elated nor regretted on success and failure even if he encountered it initially. He was thoroughly enjoying the job- in blissful state.

So the recipe of sure shot success in work is the blissful state of mind while under taking it. The success and failure are the part of journey not destination. An unwavering devotion always leads to success.

The goal of our works or lives should be bliss not the success and failure. It is important to feel the bliss while doing it. And when we learn to acquire the everlasting bliss in whatever we do the success follows automatically.

So the success is the permanent companion of calm and blissful mind.

That is why it is advised by sages that choose the job which you enjoy. So later in life you enjoy thorough out the life without having the work to be done.

62yrs of Indian Republic-Achievements and Expectations

The Indian democracy matured 62 years. For more than six decades being a democratic republic, we have been guided by the principles of justice, liberty, equality and fraternity.

Now a retrospection on the six decades of the 62-turned republic as it is time to ponder how truly the denizens realized the promises of constitution.

The formation of republic on 26 Jan 1950 was the first landmark to realize the dreams of citizens in the aftermath of independence. Certainly at several fronts we progressed and new dimensions were added in the life of common people.

Like Right to Education act came into being which facilitated access to education of all children of the country belonging to age group five to fourteen.

NREGA is another facility which penetrated at the grass root level and at the remotest of the country. Besides providing the employment it helps to some extent in mitigating the migration of rural folks.

The 2005 Right to Information act has given to the citizens to seek accountability in governance.
Constitution guaranteed individual freedom and dignity under the fundamental right. It gives character to the country and the rights to the people.

The power to franchise has given to the citizens the right to determine their political choices. Following the constitutional amendments in 1992, India has introduced democracy at grass root level. Today 3.2 million representatives who have been elected are from villages, town and cities. About 1.2 million of these representatives are women.
As per constitution of India, the Panchayat-the local self government at the village level mandated one third participation of women.
