ALL BLENDABILITIES ARE AVAILABLE!

That is correct! On July 1st, Stampin' Up! released 6 colors. Today, they released the last 6 colors - that's 12 colors in all, in addition to the skin tone assortment.

What are Blendabilities?
~Blendabilites are alcohol markers (just like Copics & Spectrum Noir alcohol markers)~

What sets them apart from other alcohol markers?

Each set comes in 3 colors - light, medium, and dark so you don't need to worry about finding colors to blend.
They also have a brush tip and a fine tip.
They have a rectngular barrel so they will not roll away from you.
Marker tips are made of nylon, which is superior to polyester - which can, and does, fray.
Color coded caps.
Stampin' Up! Blendabilities Markers coordinate beautifully with Stampin' Up! cardstock, ribbon, embellishments, and so on.
These markers can be used on transparent sheets.

A few tips to get you started:

You need to use Momento Ink, NOT Stazon ink. Stazon will smear and ruin your marker tips (it will put the black ink on your markers).
You will need a heavy, smooth card stock to color on - Whisper White card stock is recommended.
Because you are layering color when you use these markers, they will bleed through the paper. Make sure you are working on a protected work surface.
You can color more than just paper with these markers. Try coloring the Rhinestone and Pearl jewels I sell. Now you can color them to coordinate. YAY!

Another new item I HAD to have as soon as I could order it was the Hearts & Stars Decorative Mask. Oh my! It was so much fun to use.

Like usual, I saw a very similar card on Pinterest. It have no idea who's card it was since there was no watermark or link back to a blog. So if this reminds you of a card you made in Lost Lagoon, please let me know so I can give you credit.

This was another card we made at my last Sampin' Nite class. Everyone had fun inking up the stars.

I love the elegance of black and silver. The silver stars just pop on the black background. It's super easy to get very carried away with inking the stars. Definitely less is more here.

Watercolor Thank You

When the new 2014-15 Idea Book and Catalog came out, the very first stamp sets I immediately purchased was Work of Art and Watercolor Thank You. I knew they would go perfectly together - just wasn't sure how I wanted to use them together, until now!

I was inspired by a card I saw on Pinterest (man, do I live on Pinterest - well, it's what I can do each hour when I'm in my brace for 15 minutes). I find SO many ideas there. Check out my boards - I have over 300 boards and over 24,000 pins - WOW!!!

Anyways, back to my card - it is super simple to create. All the ladies who came to my Stampin' Nite this month enjoyed making this card.

When using the Dotty Angles stamp, I stamped off in order to make the dots not so dark. I wanted the thank you greeting to stand out the most, so I used full ink on that stamp.

Holiday Nugget Treats

Welcome to my version of Christmas in July! Actually, somehow this post never posted in December. I think I forgot to hit the post button. So, instead of just deleting it, I've opted to post it in July, for those of you that like to get a jump on your holiday crafting.

I made these really cute holiday nugget treats with my friend Stephanie last December. She invited me over to her class to make them. I'm so glad I went. They are just perfect little gifts to pass out at school.

The idea came from Heidi Boos. She has a full tutorial on her blog. They were so simple to make. I made 10 in one sitting.

Now, please note, that the DSP I used is now long since been retired, but that's not a problem, just use what you have.

Colored Bloom & personal update

I wanted to take a moment, before I share today's card, and give you a personal update on my finger. On New Year's Eve afternoon, I bumped my finger, and it fractured - pretty bad. I went to see an orthopedist (who specializes in the hand) and found out there was a tumor in the bone (it made the bone so brittle, that is why it fractured from just a bump). I ended up with a hard plastic splint for 9 weeks. Then once the bone was basically healed, it was surgery to remove the tumor. It took several more weeks for the break to heal (finally got the okay on May 30th), but the putty they put in the tumor's place is still not hardened and might not be for a year. That aside, I've been in occupational therapy, at least 2x per week, since March 7th. It's been painful, frustrating, and rewarding all at the same time. After thousands of exercises, 2 different splints (worn for 15 min of every waking hour), hundreds of hours of therapy, and daily use of my hand - the finger STILL was not bending all the way, nor going straight. Almost 2 weeks ago, when I last saw my doctor, he said that the scar tissue has fused the tendon to the bone, prohibiting the tendon from doing it's job - not allowing my finger to bend completely or stretch out straight. So there is a reason for all my frustration. This being the case, I am now having surgery to clean out all the scar tissue, thus freeing up the tendon to do it's job and, hopefully, give me movement back in my finger. I'm having surgery today (probably as you read this). I'm very nervous and stressed, but I know it's the next step. I'm hoping therapy this time around isn't as long, but I'm also realistic and know, this WILL take time - and a lot of work.

WOW! Time for some happy!

Gorgeous, isn't it? I thought so! I CASEd this card from Frenchie. She just does the best cards! The technique on the Blended Bloom is the emboss resist technique - colored in using sponge daubers. This card looks like it's difficult, but it's really not. We made this card in my Stampin' Nite class in June, and I have some beginner stampers who come. Their cards looked like this one. Easy!

4th of July Decor

Yesterday I decided to break open my June Paper Pumpkin kit. WOW!!! is all I can say! That kit was loaded! Paper to make 24 pinwheels (all precut and punched for quick pinwheel assembling) - 24 straws, 24 cello bags, 24 brads, 24 mini paper clips, 24 paper flags, 3 stamps, and 1 Stampin' Spot. WOW!!!

Well, I did not want to just make 24 pinwheels - seemed a little boring. So I spent some time searching Pinterest and Facebook, and low and behold - ideas!

I made this birthday banner for my son (his birthday is July 5th). I CASEd the idea from Janet Wakeland. It uses 6 pinwheels to make the whole project - including the two boxes (2 pinwheels each). I used the banner punch and my e-cutter to cut out the letters. I love how it turned out.

I've seen pinwheel bouquets all over the place and knew I wanted to make one. I used a small canning jar. I made 6 pinwheels (3 on each side). I cut little strips of card stock (Real Read, Whisper White, Night of Navy, & Smokey Slate) and crumbled each one up and put them in the jar to help hold up the pinwheels.

Here is the other Post-It note holder I mentioned in yesterday's post. This is the one we made at my May Stampin' Nite class. I thought this would make the perfect Mother's Day gift.

I CASEd this idea from Angie Kennedy Juda. She has a wonderful tutorial on her site. It's so simple and quick to make. I spent more time decorating it than making it.

A sunshine for Sunshine

Sunshine is my OT therapist. I've been working with her since March 7th - right after my 1st surgery. I ♥ Sunshine! She is so caring and yet pushy (because all therapists need to do a little pushing). She has done such a great job. I am having another surgery next Wednesday. I will continue to work with Sunshine until I finally get the word from my doctor.

4 months of working with Sunshine has built such a relationship. When you work as much with someone as I have with her, you can't help but to build a bond. Without her, my finger would not be as far as it is. This being said, when I found out her birthday was earlier this month, I knew I HAD to make something for her.

I made her this super cute Post-It note holder. I CASEd it from Angie Kennedy Juda. I also CASEd the sunshine from a photo I saw on Pinterest. I have no idea who's original idea it is, nor if I made it the same way, but I did figure out a way to make it.

TUTORIAL: sunshine

Punch 2 circles from the 1-3/4" punch. Punch 16 banners from the banner punch. I sponged one circle and all of the banner pieces. I sponged the 8 back banner pieces using a slightly darker color than the front banner pieces. Adhere 8 banner pieces to the back on the sponged circle - spreading them out. Attach dimensionals (cut in half) to the bottom of the remaining 8 banner pieces and attach to the back on the circle with the banner pieces already attached - offsetting them from the first ones you did, so you can see them in-between. Attach the second circle to the back to cover everything up and to give you something to adhere the sun down.

This is such a simple gift to make. It's also such a WOW! Everyone I've made one for absolutely LOVE it!

I made on for Mother's Day, at my May Stampin' Nite. All the ladies who attended just loved this simple project. Be sure to check back tomorrow to see that one.

I ♥ to create little gifts for everyone who attends my classes. I don't do it every month, but it's always a surprise when I do.

This month I made everyone who attended my monthly Stampin' Nite last night one of these super cute goodie bags.

They are about 4 inches long and 2 inches wide. They hold a snack size Hershey bar perfectly. I got the idea from Stampin' Up!

MINI TUTORIAL:

4-1/2 X 6-1/2 Designer Series Paper

Score:
on the long side: 1", 1-1/2", 2", 4", 4-1/2", & 5"
on the short side - 1/2 (this will be across the bottom once you are done)

Scallop cut, using the rotary cutter, the top (the side not scored).

On the bottom (where you scored it a 1/2 inch), cut it off from the edge, and the score lines 1" & 1-1/2". Next cut from the other side through the score lines 5"& 4-1/2". Then cut the tab at 4 inches at an angle on both sides. SEE PHOTO BELOW

Mountain and valley fold the score lines to form the sides of the bag. Adhere the flaps together. Next add adhesive to the bottom tab, and fold up and adhere.

Embellish as you wish.

Too many open tabs?

Ever see anything on Pinterest, Facebook, or Instagram, and say, "I can make that!" Well, that's exactly what happened here.

I saw this sign and knew, not only could I make it, but I could make it better! So here is my rendition of this really cool sign.

So here are all the details:

I made my own background paper. I used watercolor paper, some reinkers, and aqua painter, and a spritzer with water. I spritzed the paper real good, then using my aqua painter, with water in it, I picked up some reinker and started to scribble - in an orderly way. I just kept add colors until I got the effect I was looking for. Once the paper was dry (at least 24 hours), I sprayed the whole sheet with my homemade glimmer mist (our now retired Frost Shimmer paint and rubbing alcohol). It gave is that subtle, yet gorgeous shimmer.

I used an electronic cutter to cut out the letters - simple, yet it took some time to glue the layers together.

I then used the butterfly punches to make the butterflies and embossed them. I also used the spiral flower die to make the 2 flowers on the bottom corner of the frame. I cut two out per flower (the same two colors I used with the letters).

RECIPE: NOTE: Most of the ink and card stock colors used in this project are now retired.

Happy Valentine's Day

Boy, did February 14th creep up on me! I've been so focused on my broken finger, and the upcoming surgery, that the date on the calendar escaped me.

Here in northeast Pennsylvania, we got hit with winter storm Pax yesterday. We got about 24 inches of snow, on top of many inches already on the ground. I spent both yesterday and today at home, really enjoying a couple of snow days. Because stamping has been very challenging due to my finger, and it's been healing nicely, and the pain is almost gone, I gave stamping a try the last two days. It was a very long process to stamp simple cards, but I enjoyed it, nonetheless.

Today, being Valentine's Day, I had to stamp a card for my valentine - my WONDERFUL hubby!

This was a very simple card and would lend itself to mass production. I took the layout idea from various cards I saw on Pinterest and added the "LOVE"from the Expressions Thinlits Dies. I'm really happy with how it turned out.

Okay, now that that's out of the way, you're saying, "Hey Sandy! Your title said something about a broken finger. What's up?"

Well, on 12/31/13, I did indeed break a bone in the index finger of my right hand, and before you ask, yes, I'm right-handed - my stamping hand, NNNOOOOO!!!!!! YES!!! Now, I know you're next question - HOW? I just basically banged it. Come to find out there is a tumor that made the bone so brittle it eventually broke. Yes, that part of it scares me, but my doctor is certain I have nothing to worry about, but I won't know for sure until its removed and biopsied. The kicker, it's taking FOREVER to heal. At least 8 weeks, maybe more, in this:

If you follow me on Facebook, you've seen this picture. Needless to say, stamping is next to impossible. Notice I said next to. I have stamped 3 cards since all of this, but it's very laborsome and painful, so I'm not stamping much these days, (stop back to see those cards).
Once the bone heals, then it's surgery, which scares me to death! They will cut the bone, remove the tumor, and fill the bone to make it strong. Then most likely therapy for awhile to build up the strength in my 2 fingers and hand.
I can't tell how amazing our bodies are. I've learned to do everything with one hand, and my left hand to boot! I can't tie my shoes, and a couple of other tasks I don't wish to mention, but I have the best hubby to help with that. I do get frustrated quite easily these days, but things are finally starting to get a little easier. I will keep you posted as this progresses.

With the help of family and friends, I'm still doing my monthly classes. The cards are simple, yet still the quality of my classes. I'm still teaching techniques with my broken finger. I hope you can attend one of my classes and come join the fun!

Reflection Technique

The first time I saw the stamp set Lovely As A Tree, I knew I wanted to do some kind of reflection card. This stamp set has been sitting on my shelf for a few years now, being used for various other cards and techniques, but never a reflection technique, until now.

MINI TUTORIAL

It's not a hard technique. To get the reflection to look like a reflection, first stamp on a clear block and use the stamped ink block as a stamp. It lightens the ink as well as makes the image slightly fuzzy - much like a reflection. Then use the Stamp-a-ma-jig to stamp the trees that are being reflected. I used Basic Grey on my trees.

Spotted Elephant Christmas Card

I love Rudolph, don't you? I especially love the Land of Misfits and the Misfit Toys. And to be more accurate, I really ♥ LOVE ♥ the Spotted Elephant. I love that he's pink. Not only that, but he's just so darn cute!

When I was blog surfing this past weekend, I saw a card made my Candace Pelfrey, for an SVG Cutting Files blog hop. Her card had the spotted elephant on it. I instantly fell in love. I knew immediately I NEEDED that cut file. So, I got it!

A Cute Thank You Card

The minute I saw this card on Pinterest, I knew I had to make it. I not only made one, but we made this card in my Stampin' Nite class in August.

When I saw this card, I knew the Pretty Print Textured Embossing Folder would make the perfect background for this card. I love the color combo of So Saffron, Pool Party, and Whisper White.

So Saffron card - 3 x 3 size

Pool Party card - 3 x 3 size

I used the Envelope Punch Board to make the matching envelopes. I first cut the paper to size, then I stamped the flowers all over the paper. Once I was done stamping, I then used the Envelope Punch Board to create the envelopes.

Stampin' Nite, Pumpkins, & an Apology

First off, I'll start with an apology for not posting in 2 months! Boy, oh, boy! I went back to school (I'm a special education teacher), and immediately got busy with TONS of paperwork. I have 40 students on my caseload. That is definitely keeping me busy. I ♥ my job this year! It just made me put everything on hold for a little bit. Things are now starting to slow down. I'm hoping to now post more often and share some wonderful ideas and inspiration.

STAMPIN' NITE

October's Stampin' Nite was originally scheduled for Thursday October 10th. I had to reschedule it due to illness with my son. He's feeling better now.

Stampin' Nite will now be Thursday October 24, 2013, at 6:30 PM, at my house. The cost is $10. We will be making 2 wonderful cards:

1. I have a super cute and simple Halloween card planed. We will even be adding some of the new black or orange glitter to the card and it WON'T leave the recipient in a glitter mess. Wondering how? Come to class and learn how!

2. How about a really pretty fall card? A thank you card? Who can't use thank you card? Trust me when I say you will love this card. Aside from that, this card has a super cute punched pumpkin as an embellishment. Here's a picture of the punched pumpkin we are going to make for this card:

Faux Tile Technique

Oh, Pinterest, how I do love you! You are so full of ideas. I just can't get enough!

Pinterest is where I found the Faux Tile Technique. I CASEd this card from Stampin' Up! demonstrator, Kathleen Wingerson. I just fell in love with this technique the minute I saw it.

MINI TUTORAL

It's a simple technique. All you do is stamp your images first. Next you score your card stock (I used 2 inch increments) - going in two different directions. Then make yourself a template so you can ink the bottoms of each square. You decide on the intensity of the color.

The other day, I saw the same technique done by Stampin' Up! demonstrator, LeeAnn Greff. She did her card in browns. It's so pretty!

Highlighting Technique

I ♥ LOVE ♥ techniques!!!! I love to find new ways to use all my Stampin' Up! products. So what is a girl to do? Get on the Internet, Pinterest, and blogs, and find new and exciting techniques to try.

Here's a new one for you to try: the Highlighting technique

I found this technique from Gina K. It's so simple to do and it's such a huge WOW! Everyone loves it!

MINI TUTORIAL

Pick a light colored card stock. Rub your Embossing Buddy over the entire piece of card stock. Stamp your image in Versa Mark ink. Use white or black embossing powder and heat emboss your images.

Use a marker or a Blender Pen and ink pad in a dark color than your card stock. Color in the open areas of your embossed images.

**NOTE** I used a Blender Pen and ink pad - this way I could control the intensity of the color inside my butterflies.

I hope you give this technique a try. It was so much fun to make this card. Of course the picture does not do it justice. It's so pretty in person!

Braided Sunset Card

I subscribe to the blogs of some of the top demonstrators in Stampin' Up! Their cards and projects are beautiful and I LOVE to CASE (Copy And Share Everything) their ideas. This card is no exception to that!

I CASEd this card from Brandy Cox. She has a pattern, on her website, for the braided part of her card. Go HERE to download the pattern.

I just sponged the background on this card - all you do is start with the lightest color and work to the darkest color. It was quick and simple, and the effect is definitely a WOW!
