When I first saw this card I immediately wanted to learn how to make the spiral on the front. Then I just wanted to make the card. I fell in love with this card immediately! But, before I could make this card, I HAD to find the demonstrator who made it. It didn't take long before I found her - Jan Hoyt! Not only did I find out who made the card, but I also found her email address and told how much I LOVED her card. She gave credit a few other demonstrators who did very different cards, but who's ideas she put into her card. So one can say this card is a creation of many. I love when that happens!

Not only did I like this card using Island Indigo, but I wanted to see what it would look like in Calypso Coral. What did you think?

It's a long list (12 pages), but DON'T PANIC! Okay, panic for a moment, then relax (I did, so go ahead :O) All items on this list are WHILE SUPPLIES LAST. Get the items you want NOW! These items do go fast! Once they are gone, they are gone!

You will see all ink pads, ink refills, and markers on the list. NO, THEY ARE NOT RETIRING! All the current colors will be staying, with the exception of the 2010-2012 In-colors (Peach Parfait, Poppy Parade, Pear Pizzazz, Concord Crush, Blushing Bride). The are refiguring the ink pads to a foam pad - that will ink up stamps better and help give you a clearer image. This means that the ink will be changes slightly. You will be able to use the new ink refills in your current ink pads, but you won't be able to use the current ink refills in the new ink pads. You will not be able to get the markers individually, they will be available in families.

Also, the Simply Adorned line (jewelry) and the Decor Elements line (wall/art vinyl) are both retiring. All the Simply Adorned items are listed on the retiring accessories list. All the retiring Decor Elements items can be found HERE.

My Kindle Card

A friend of mine gave his wife a Kindle for her birthday in January. The Kindle was not going to be delivered to her in time for her birthday, so I had the brilliant idea of making a card that looked like the Kindle he was giving her, so she would receive a Kindle on her birthday.

What do you think?

I used various "Happy Birthday" stamps (both current and retired), and both current and retired card stock. I also used two different sizes of circle and square punches for the buttons.

This card was a lot of fun to make. I did some searching to find a picture of the exact Kindle he was giving, so my card would look like the one she was receiving. The card, and the Kindle, were a hit. This is the kind of thing I LOVE to do - make a card to look like a product. Create away!

This month we will be doing something fun - something that will cost you NOTHING!

Sandy's 1st Craft Item Swap

Do you have craft items you no longer want? Do you hate the idea of throwing them out? Do you wish you could get some new crafting items, but just don't have the money to do so right now? If you answered yes, then I have just the thing for you! A craft item swap!

Here is how it will work:

1. Go through your craft items, and pull out anything you no longer want.

This can include stamps, inks, markers, paper, card stock, tools (punches, paper trimmers, eyelet setters), embellishments (brads, stickers, ribbon, flowers, eyelets, chip board shapes, bling of any kind), or any thing considered a crafting item.

NOTE: Craft items from ALL companies are welcome :O)

2. Bring it with you to my March Stampin' Nite.

3. Put it on display at my house. If you bring 3 items, you can go home with 3 new items (this is just an example).

4. If you wish to really unload your stuff, you can allow unlimited taking - that will be up to each individual.

5. Go home with new-to-you craft items (and hopefully none of what you brought).

No money will be involved with this - swapping only. Each individual can swap as they see fit, but I do want to make it fair to all who wish to participate.

NOTE: You do not need to participate in this swap to attend Stampin' Nite. I'm offering this as a way to share what we no longer use. As the saying goes, "What is one woman's trash is another woman's treasure." That is so true when it comes to crafting items.

Stampin' Up! Memo Board

At our team demonstrator meeting yesterday we discussed ways to help us get our business where we'd like it to be. Of course we all love to be making a million dollars a year, but for me, that's not a realistic goal at this point in my life. I'd be happy to make a little more a month and to add a card club to my monthly activities. These will be my goals this year.

Also at our meeting, Sally Chuchman, my upline, brought a memo board she made. I instantly fell in love with it. So, I went home, stopping at a big box store to pick up a canvas and some quilting batting, and went home and made my own. I plan to use mine as a visualization board for my business goals.

Here is my memo board. What do you think?

I also made fabric flowers as an embellishment to my board. I followed the tutorial in the video I posted yesterday - HERE. They were so easy to make. As you can see, my flowers are two different sizes. To make them different sizes, use a wider or thinner strip of fabric. I did do like they suggested in the video, I made two flowers for each one flower. They ended up being too thin for my liking with just one flower. I really like how the blue one turned out.

Fabric Flower & Dying Baker's Twine

MINI TUTORIAL

Dying Baker's Twine Tutorial:

Create a mixture using rubbing alcohol and any color of our Classic or Craft Stampin' Ink refills. A god starting ratio is one tablespoon of alcohol to one drop of ink refill (you can adjust from there to get the right color intensity for your project). Place the Baker's twine in the mixture, allowing enough time for the dye to fully soak the twine. Lay the dyed twine on a clean paper towel to dry. Use as desired.

A Valentine Tree

The idea for this card came from Dolores Bettner. Her card was posted on Stampin' Connection, a website for demonstrators - full of thousands of ideas and inspiration. Thank you Dolores for a WONDERFUL idea!

I envisioned this card, at least the shape of this card, the minute I saw the heart shaped framelits.

Hearts Collection Framelits Dies - 125599 - $26.95

I really like how this card turned out. It started out as a 5x5 card. I used the largest, scalloped heart from the hearts framelits to cut out the shape. As you can see, I folded the card and put the framelit off the to left, so one edge overhang the edge, leaving part of the fold so it would be a card. I then inked the edges in Pink Pirouette, in order to soften the white card.

You might be surprised to know that the stamp set I used was Holiday Happiness.

Lamp Shade Stampin' Up! Style

I used to make paper lamp shades many years ago (long before I knew anything about Stampin' Up!). They were so much fun to make and everyone I gave them to just loved them.

While cleaning out my craft closest, I came across my pattern and thought I would be fun to make one using Stampin' Up! products.

What do you think?

This lamp and shade are so much more prettier in person. They are really simple to make. If you'd like to make one, let me know. If I have enough interest, I'd love to hold a class to make them.

My lampshade is sitting on a champagne flute. You can also use a wine class. I put one of those battery operated tealights. It's just beautiful!

A Fancy Christmas Card

I wanted to make a very special Christmas card to give two very special people. When I sat down to make these cards, I had no idea what I was going to make. I looked around my stamp room and stopped when I saw this card:

I knew I wanted to CASE this card - but give it a Christmas feel to it. So, here is was I came up with. What do you think?

Most of the time I do not come up with my own designs. I CASE, (Copy And Share Everything), a lot! I love someone else's idea and I remake it, making it my own. This is what Stampin' Up! is all about. I hope you CASE what I post here and make it your own. Just PLEASE remember the golden rule - always give credit where credit is due. As you will notice, I ALWAYS give credit when it's not my idea. Just think how you would feel if you designed something and someone else copied it and took all the credit for it.

With that said, please feel free to CASE what I post here - that is why I share my ideas with all of you!

Christmas Gift Stampin' Up! Style

For close friends this year, I wanted to make them a very useful and practical gift. When I saw these cute Post-It notes holders, I knew they were just the gift I was looking for.

These also make wonderful teacher, secretary, & house warming gifts.

Below are the ones I made this year. Under each picture I've stated the colors I used on that particular one. I will give the rest of the recipe at the end.

Pool Party, Island Indigo, & Whisper White

*NOTE* Even though I used all the same sized frames, they were not all sized the same. To ensure my paper wasn't too small, I cut each one separately - cutting them a little big to start. I would measure the actual frame and add 1/8". This usually worked - I didn't want my paper smaller than the frames. Sometimes I cut it down slightly and other times I did not. Each frame was different.

I hope this project is one you will find quick and easy to make. For me, it will end up boing one of those type of projects that I have a bunch made on hand for whenever I need a quick little gift.

Christmas Stocking

Of all the wonderful items in the Holiday Mini Catalog (which ends on January 3, 2012), the Stocking Builder Punch & the Stitched Stockings stamp set are my favorite. I've used both items so much this holiday season.

Here is a very small sample of what I did with this punch and stamp set.

This is a topper on a 1x8 cellophane bag full of M & M's.

These two cards are the same with the exception of the embossing folders used on the backgrounds.

*NOTE* We got word this week from Stampin' Up! that both the Stocking Builder Punch and the Stitched Stocking Stamp Set will be retiring on January 3rd, when the Holiday Mini Catalog retires. They will NOT be appearing in the new Idea Book & Catalog coming out in July 2012. So if you want either the punch, the stamp set, or both, please order them NOW!
