IT'S HOT!!

I know I am typically British in moaning about the weather but right now I am too hot to care (lol).
What happened to early summer weather?
Do you remember when the weather got gradually hotter? 26C was considered very hot and those days were few and far between each year!
Warm days where you could go out and do anything without feeling like you were melting!
Now our seasons seem to have an on/off switch. Maybe mother nature finds it more energy saving to go from 1 extreme to the other? or maybe we're being punished for not looking after her earth too well.
We now wait a very long, very cold winter for a fairly short summer that is mostly far too hot to do anything much in.

Yes O.K I am very British.

The plants that survived our unusually harsh winter are thriving in the summer sun. We have bumble bees aplenty buzzing around in our garden this year, which is great to see as they have their own battle of survival going on.

Ok I have a confession to make... I watch Dr Who... every week with my kids, we sit down together and watch it (thats what I tell myself anyway) ...David Tennant was an amazing Dr, but I have managed to upset my 12 year old son by telling him that I think Matt Smith is my favourite Dr ever, he has a softer quality about him that i find quite amazing to watch, he has the quirkiness needed to be Dr Who but displays a much more tender side...
This weeks episode (Doctor Who Series 5 Vincent and the Doctor) has to be one of my favourites ever, overall very little cast in it and not full of the usual enemies, but great none the less (not sure my kids were as captivated as I was though lol)
I have found this video on youtube, been put together really well and has the sound from my favourite part in... if only I could live my life the same way...

The way I see it, every life is a pile of good things and bad things. Hey. The good things don't always soften the bad things, but vice versa, the bad things don't necessarily spoil the good things or make them unimportant. x

...since I last blogged, I can't believe it was last month!
Its been the Easter holidays here for the last couple of weeks so the usual routine has been forgotten, though is now feeling very much needed, my son has had heat exhaustion for the last week after playing out way too much and not resting or drinking enough, so a lesson well and truly learned there for all of us! He has been very poorly but is now on the mend :)

I recently watched the ITV (uk) comedy/drama Married Single Other and really loved it, bought myself the download of the series and am hoping they bring out a soundtrack to it, as I loved that too :)
This was the theme song to the show :)

In case you hadn't already kinda guessed I LOVE music, I can't think of a genre that I could say I don't like at all it just depends on mood and emotions at the time or attatched to the particular tune or song.
This song I was recently told to listen to by a good friend of mine, I now can't stop listening to it, anytime of day or night, no matter what my mood it makes me stop and listen to it, I love the different tempos and emotions it makes me feel whenever I listen and I seem to hear something different everytime.

I know this was from a film but I'm sure I've heard it before, and pretty sure I've not seen the film.... anyone know if its been used in anything else? advert maybe?

Busy weekend....

I have had a great weekend! On saturday I was taken out for the day to Winchester for a surprise day out... what I didn't realise was that one of my very best friends who lives more than 250 miles away had driven down to surprise me, we had a great day out, was so good to see him and catch up,it had been a long 18 months. :)

We'd also been on a shopping trip to Southampton the week before for my mums birthday, that was a great day too! I'm being spoilt :)
While we were out we stopped for a drink and my daughter wanted hot chocolate, the girl at the counter asked if cream and marshmallows were wanted - knowing my daughter I said yes... this is what she got!! (Wow)

After a majorly long day yesterday shopping with my mum on her birthday I am today having a very lazy/relaxing day :)
I got myself some different clothes (For me) yesterday, trackie type trousers and a hooded top, I feel very young today in them lol, finally got some black nail varnish too, been wanting some of that for ages - I painted my nails a while ago and love them! :)

I keep listening to a song by JLS at the moment (far from the boy band loving stage of my life but like who/what I like because of the song/words or whatever, don't ever not like something without listening just because of who its by!) I love the video too, its kinda simple though the effects are really clever, you can see it here or via my favourites page

Massive clear out!

Spring must be in the air, I am having a massive clearout of old stuff at the moment. Have already taken in 6 large bags to charity shops and after sorting out my wardrobe today I have 8 (yes 8) carrier bag fulls to give in, I was fed up of looking at an overly full wardrobe and thinking I have nothing to wear! So anything that was passed its best or didn't make me feel nice wearing it, has gone!
Its kinda pointless moving things out the way that i'll never use, so out it all goes! :)
Anyway I now have to finish putting everything that is staying back into my now quite empty wardrobe! :) x

Mothers Day

Today has been (is) Mothering Sunday in the UK. I have had a really lovely and busy day, I was woken by my 2 first thing this morning with tea and toast in bed, handmade cards and a handmade flower (pic to follow) from my daughter. I couldn't of asked or wanted for more, I don't need expensive 'things' to show me they love me, just to be remembered is more than enough. Its been a nice day here and overall the mildest (ha still FREEZING) so far, so I did a load of clearing up in the garden, and creosoted the fence :)

I went shopping last week and spotted these pencils while I was out - I think I've mentioned my painful hands before and these are perfect to help me, the 'curly' looking bit is made of foam..making the pencils larger and therefore easier for me to hold! :)
Now I don't know if its just me but for some reason other than them being extremely useful for me I find these pencils pleasing to look at! (Am I mad? lol)

I know this pic is quite dark but I quite like the mood of it :)

Now all I have to do is get drawing with them!

..my parents were in town today and picked my glasses up early for me (thank you! x) so I am now sat here blogging, without rubbing my eye, straining it AND I can see the screen (and everything else) SO much clearer! I am thrilled with them :)

Ok I know I shouldn't wish my life away but I am desperate for it to be monday now! Never have I wanted a weekend out of the way so quickly! Monday morning I collect my glasses and can finally get on with various tasks and hobbies that i've stopped for a while knowing my eyes weren't quite right.

I've had a really croaky throat for the last few days, lost my voice completely for a while yesterday morning (some others were happy about that I think lol), today it is getting better though; I am more confident that my voice will hold for a whole sentence!

After being pushed (persuaded) to go to the opticians yesterday I finally had my eyes tested and discovered I do need glasses for close work (inc laptop, tv etc). I pick them up next week, its going to be weird I had kinda guessed that I would need glasses; my left eye has felt tired for a long time now so it wasn't really a shock and i'm not at all bothered by the idea of wearing them, its just gonna be odd/different I guess. I had no real idea of styles etc but as soon as I saw the ones i'm getting it 'had' to be them :)

I have just added another video to my favourites on youtube - yet another favourite scene from a fave movie :)

I cannot believe its march already! Outside still looks so wintry and i'm still cold most of the time (that could just be me though lol). Hopefully will have something bright and spring like to post about here soon :)

I don't think it could rain anymore today if it tried! I can't wait until it at least feels like spring has begun, and some 'colour' returns to the garden etc.
Searching through some photos today I found this one I took last spring on a walk with my children, we ended up in another town and walking through a lovely churchyard that was full of blossom trees. I took this photo from underneath one of them then got all arty with it (lol). I really like this - the contrast of the black and white combined with the snapshot effect of colour.

It has certainly been a very cold start to 2010 in the whole of the Uk,I can't remember the whole country being so affected at the same time by such cold weather conditions (I'm sure it has been before I just can't remember!).

It has been fun but i've honestly had enough now - its starting to thaw here, so now really slippery, I wish it would either snow alot more or be completely gone. Other parts of the country have got another load of snow overnight and today!

My children have been fascinated by it, they've never seen 'proper' snow before! There have been a lot of snowball fights!!

I hope everyone is keeping safe and warm! :)

Wow, its been months!

Life seems to be whats happening when you're not looking I think...

Nothing too major has happened for me not to have blogged, just life etc

Anyway... its almost new year, can't believe its almost 2010! 2009 went so fast!
I hope you all had a fab christmas, ours was ok other than both my children being sick with a stomach bug :( oh and then just before I started cooking christmas dinner I managed to slice open my finger with a stanley blade :( not good but it did get me out of having to cook which was nice in a way, though very weird, i've cooked christmas dinner for the last 13 years since I was 18 so was different :)

This is just a quick post.. just so those of you who might like to know i'm still alive can see I am! lol

An unintentional break!

I cannot believe it was the 18th of July that I last 'blogged', I hadn't made a decision to have a break and blogging wasn't the only thing i'd stopped doing, facebook, twitter and all the usual online retreats had also been left a while too.
So I guess now i'm back, anyone missed me? :P lol

Its nearing the end of a generally poor summer here and I can't wait for the winter evenings to stay snuggled in with the family playing games etc :)

A challenge to myself

I know this is probably going to seem a little mad, but this is a huge thing for me!
Whenever I do drawings I always do them way too small, almost as if i'm frightened of making a mistake or if I do it will be so small it won't matter (too much), I rarely colour them in any way, I always stick with safe things to draw
instead of creating something I want and if i'm honest I hardly ever actually finish something either. So the challenge to myself was:

To create something completely different
Make it large -A4 (I know this isn't huge but believe me to me its gigantic!)]
Colour it
FINISH it!!

I did all of this for the first time probably ever!! I know its hardly a masterpiece but i'm very proud of myself!

I was recently *tagged* by notesfromthetoothfairy for 10 random facts! I have never done anything like this before so a big ty to her for tagging me and a big breath for me as I try and do this! lol :)

1. I really hate tissues being scrunched or their layes being rubbed together - I know I probably sound nuts, but trust me they have layers, layers that to me sound like fingernails down a blackboard! - Kitchen towel and thankfully toilet tissue isn't so bad, its mainly ordinary tissues and some serviettes that causes my goosebumps!!

2. I wear too much black, I am trying to change this, but its hard! I recently saw a tv show that 'proved' black doesn't make you look any smaller infact on a test they did - they had boxes of the same weight in various colours and asked several people which they thought was the heaviest box most (if not all I can't remember) chose the black one!! I know! and i'm still wearing too much black!

3. I have very small hands, they are quite weak and painful most of the time too, have been to dr's but they don't know what causes the pain etc :(

4. Last year I turned 30, I was seriously scared (if scared is the right word) - i'm not even sure what of, its just a number isn't it and I have felt 30 most of my adult life so its not like I suddenly felt like I had to grow up or anything. Not long before my birthday I saw the film The Guardian and in that was the most amazing speech from one of the characters: http://www.moviesoundclips.net/movies1/guardian/old.wav (Found this online)

6.My favourite city is Manchester, love the nw of England generally too. Haven't travelled a great deal, and although I enjoy it when we get the chance I don't have a yearning to go everywhere, there are places i'd love to see though.

7.My feet are now smaller than when I was 11/12 :/ - I know thats pretty strange, at least I think it is?! but I am now 1-2 shoe sizes smaller than I used to be!

8.I generally send more than 500 text messages per month, I don't know if this is alot or not?! I'm not a teenager (as i've already stated) and I don't have dozens of friends either :/

9.I love quotes and sayings especially inspirational ones. I could list alot of them but this blog post would go on forever, so instead I will just put the one that I went to the trouble of printing out and framing, its hanging in our lounge- Ordinary people build worldss within worlds, ordinary people make a good life out of living.

10.I'm not as self confident as i'd like to be, or maybe used to be, but in some ways more than I have been (lol yes i'm confused too). In some ways i'm over confident, at times don't care what other people think, yet in other ways i'm always happy to be in the background, never really want to be noticed, for good or bad. I came out of a bad relationship 6 years ago and am now far more confident in myself than I was, so there's hope yet :)

It was recently my daughters and a best friends 2 sons birthdays, not on the same day but within the same week, we always try and get together for a combined celebration of some sort, this year we went on a lovely picnic together, I provided the food and cake this time, I thought the cake would be fun, until I realised I was short on ingrediants and all icing things I had were pink (not sure the 2 boys would of been too pleased with that lol). With no time to get to a decent shop I used what I had in, thankfully a pack of sugared animals provided enough blue for the boys to be happy and ignore the pink!! I also discovered I had very little icing sugar in, so made a lemon drizzle icing! Phew - note to self, check ingrediants the day before having to bake!!
