Samsung TOUCHWIZ (SGH-F480) Phone

2008-07-15T06:47:00.000-07:00

We first laid our eyes on the Samsung SGH-F480 and its new TouchWiz interface back in MWC 2008. We were promised a April/May release date and true to their word, Samsung has announced that the 5-megapixel shooter is now headed to Europe. No word on availability in US, but considering that it is triband GSM designed for Europe and Asia, the phone would pretty much be a dud here anyways. With the new TouchWiz UI comes support for widgets, which can be dragged on to the home screen, which wasn’t available on its predecessor, the Croix 2.0 interface. Also available are 22 different vibrations which provide haptic feedback to the touch of a finger. Otherwise, the cell phone is basically the Samsung Armani with a 2.8-inch touchscreen, video messaging, email, USB 2.0 and Bluetooth connectivity, mobile blogging, and a 5-megapixel camera equipped with auto-focus as well as image stabilization.
The SGH-F480 will be released in the European market with a graduated release in other countries, most probably Asian.

Although the phone is a 2G model, it is perfect for the snap-happy user - thanks to a dedicated camera button - and the part-time gamer who can relax by playing one of the six built-in motion sensitive games à la Nintendo Wii. The slidephone supports microSD, comes with a 2.4-inch LCD screen (the LG site says 3.0-inch Touchscreen though) as well as a FM Radio. The phone should be widely available by the end of June and you can already pre-order it here at Play.com

APPLE iPHONE 3G

2008-07-15T06:12:00.000-07:00

iPhone 3G uses a technology protocol called HSDPA (High-Speed Downlink Packet Access) to download data fast over UMTS (Universal Mobile Telecommunications System) networks. Email attachments and web pages load twice as fast on 3G networks as on 2G EDGE networks.¹ And since iPhone 3G seamlessly switches between EDGE, faster 3G, and even faster Wi-Fi, you always get the best speeds possible.

Talk and browse. At the same time.

iPhone already gives you mobile multitasking. But 3G technology lets you multitask in more places — without connecting via Wi-Fi. Since 3G networks enable simultaneous data and voice, you can talk on the phone while surfing the web, checking email, or using Maps. All from your 3G cellular network.
