Thor Movie Review

So I just got back from seeing Thor. And it was a lot of fun. I think the movie was very successful in being pleasing to both fans of the characters and to those that have never read a comic book in their lives. It establishes all of the major characters related to Thor and makes makes Thor look like a bad-ass going into the avengers movie. The only problem I have with this movie is that I can't remember any reference to the avengers in the film. But I think if you go into it looking for a fun comic book movie you'll be happy with it even if you'vve never read a Thor comic or any comic for that matter. They struck a nice balance in taking the characters seriously but they still manage to have a few moments of humour. All in all its a fun summer blockbuster.

Batman Inc. #3 - I really like this title. This issue isn't amazing but it was fun.

The Incredible Hulks #624 - Really enjoying the savage land story. Can't wait to find out what happens next.

Batman & Robin #21 - This issue was pretty good. We find out a little about the "white knight" and it sets up for a strong conclusion to the story next issue.

Hulk #30 - This issue is promoted as a "Gamma-sized All-battle issue" And the fight doesn't disappoint. This issue is alot of fun with some very nice art.

Doom Patrol #20 - I really wish this book wasn't ending. I started reading it at issue 19 so I'll have to find the back issues cause this is great.

Batman Beyond #3 - A good conclusion to this story arc. Really enjoying this title has a great cartoon feel to it.

Weird Worlds #3 of 6 - This series is great. Each issue is divided up between three stories one featuring Lobo, one with not Swamp-thing aka Garbage-man, and one with Tanga. And they are all really good. Pick this up either in singles or as a trade.

DC:

Northlanders #36: This is the first issue of this series I've ever read and I really enjoyed it. Looking forward to more.

The Spirit #10: Within just a few issues this series has become one of my favorites that DC is publishing. You can easily start reading from here.

Batman #706: Tony Daniel Writes a decent batman but I really enjoy his art in this book maybe DC should find a better writer for one of their flagship titles. I mean it's not terrible you can read it and enjoy it but with batman I want more then that.

Superman/Batman #80: This issue was ok It's nothing amazing but it's ok.

JLA #53: This issue concludes the current story arc and well it's pretty anti-climatic in my opinion.

Marvel:

DeadpoolMAX #4: This issue was just a lot of fun and that's exactly what this series should be I'm really starting to enjoy this title.

The Amazing Spider-Man #652: Dan Slott's run on amazing spider-man enters its second story arc and I hope he stays on this book for a few years if he keeps putting out quality stories like this.

Thor: First Thunder #5 of 5: A nice conclusion to a mini-series designed to introduce readers to Thor. This is the series to give to someone that knows nothing about Thor before they see the movie this may.

Independents:

Simpsons Comics #174: A fun little issue were Lisa adopts an owl and Mr. Burn uses homer to drive down house prices so he can resell them for a profit. It was pretty funny and worth buying if you're a fan.

Darkwing Duck #8: A good conclusion to this story arc. This book is just so happy and fun anyone the doesn't enjoy it is probably lacking a soul.

Sonic Universe #24: Ending the current story arc. This book is a lot of fun and just a really enjoyable read.

The Amazing Spider-Man #651 - This issue ends Dan Slott's first story arc since being given complete control of Amazing Spider-Man and it is great.

Secret Six #29 - This concludes the story that begin in action comics and it has a great ending hopefully this will get more people to pick up this great title.

Deadpool #31 - This concludes the story that began in the previous issue and it has a fun end it's a deadpool book you can't take it to seriously.

The Incredible Hulks #620 - This is the final Hulk tie in for Chaos War and i really liked this I haven't been reading Chaos War but I could still easily follow what was happening in this issue more tie in books should be like that.

Batman and Robin #19 - This ends the current story arc and well it was ok not the best this book has seen.

Superman #707 - This wasn't bad it just was more or less pointless you could skip this and not miss it except for maybe the last page but even that isn't anything that you have to read the story does nothing to really progress the arc. Not bad but skippable.

Uncle Scrooge #399 - I love this book! It's just such a fun series to pick up and read and it reminds me why I love the medium its fun and funny buy this if you want something light and if you're a fan of the Ducktales cartoon.

Green Arrow #7 - I really love this book but to be honest this issue felt like filler good filler but still filler.

Batman: The Dark Knight #1 - I really enjoyed this issue David finch's art is great and his script is decent enough to get me to come back for issue two.

Detective Comics #872 - Scott Snyder has been nailing everything about this book since he took over writing and I can't wait to see what else he has planned.

Flash #8 - Another Rouges spotlight issue this one about the reverse flash and i really enjoyed it.

Deadpool Team-Up #886 - Fun issue like the team up with iron fist a character that needs a new ongoing! Worth buying.

Captain America #613 - It's Brubaker writing Captain America it's great.

Action Comics #896 - The First part of a secret cross-over and its a great start let's hope this gets more people to pick up secret six.

Avengers #8 - Promising start to a new story arc.

Jonah Hex #63 - A great issue but when was the last time Jonah Hex had an issue that wasn't great?

Azrael #16 - The end of this book is near and while I'll be sad to see it go it seems it will have a well thought out ending and not end without a resolution which is nice.

Weird Worlds #1 of 6 - This is an anthology book so each issue is divided up into three stories and they were all pretty good.

Scooby-Doo Where Are You? #5 - Two Stories in this issue and they are both good not great but good and enough fun for me to be happy with my purchase.

Batman Beyond #1 - The First issue of the new ongoing and it starts of pretty damn good lets hope it can continue.

Adventure Comics #522 - Fun issue not exactly great but I didn't feel like i wasted money on it. If you're not already buying this series don't start with this issue.

Just a quick note: It seems that I might not be able to get a new battery for my camera until the summer which really sucks so for the foreseeable future I'll just be posting text reviews I'm going to try to have them up most weeks at 5pm PST on Fridays but on weeks where i get like 20ish books it might not go up until Saturday if that's the case I'll tell you on twitter http://twitter.com/#!/kay19reviews

Sonic the Hedgehog #220 - Fun book if you like the games or you just want a fun adventure story buy it if you want something dark and brooding stay away.

JLA #52 - Pretty good book worth picking up if you've been buying the series not a good jump on point.

Azreal #15 - This series is ending at issue 18 and this is the beginning of the end.

Uncanny X-Men #531 - The Second part of the Quarantine Story and this is a pretty good issue.

Superman/Batman #79 - This issue is the beginning of a two part story and its pretty good.

X-Men #6 - The Conclusion to the Curse of the Mutants Story and it has a OK conclusion.

The Incredible Hulks #619 - Chaos War Tie in. Good issue even if you haven't been reading chaos war.

Batman Annual #28 - Good conclusion to the story started in the detective comics annual.

Chip 'n' Dale Rescue Rangers #1 - I know this came out a few weeks ago but i wanted to tell you to buy this book if you haven't already its as good as the dark wing ongoing.

Fantastic Four #586 - Really good set up for the death of one of the fantastic four next issue.

Deadpool #30 - Deadpool is hired to protect "Dracula's". Pretty good.

Batman Inc. #2 - Really enjoying this book. The Batman for Japan is revealed.

Larfleeze Christmas Special - BUY THIS. It is very funny and a great Christmas story.

The Traveler #2 - Very good new series from Boom! Studios.

Kolchak: The night stalker files #1 - Again this came out a little while ago but buy this if you haven't.

Bart Simpson Comics #57 - Fun little book with a few stories worth the $3 if you like the simpsons.

Darkwing Duck #7 - I love this series. This is a great issue with plenty of great jokes and great art. Buy this. If you can get cover B because it is amazing.

Simpsons Comics #173 - Bart becomes a female pop star overnight. Yes you read that right. Buy this if your a fan of The Simpsons.

Batman #705 - Good issue with a nice reveal at the end. Buy this.

Amazing Spider-Man #650 - I'm really enjoying Dan Slott's spider-man this far. Buy this.

Superman #706 - There is nothing wrong with this issue but it is a interlude to grounded which pisses me off. Thanks JMS. Buy this.

DeadpoolMAX #3 - I actually liked this issue much more then the first 2. Buy this.

The Spirit #9 - I am really glad i started buying this series because it is great definite buy if you like 50s cop/p.i. movies. Buy this and #8.

Thor: First Thunder #4 of 5 - This is a good book if you know nothing to little about Thor and want to know a little going into the movie this summer. You can wait for the trade if you haven't been buying the issues.

Loki #2 of 4 - Again if you want to know a little going into the Thor movie this is the book for you but you can wait for the trade.

Batman & Robin #18 - This is the second issue in an arc that feels like its filler and not very good filler at that. It's not bad but it's not good. Buy it if you've been buying the issues if you're looking to jump on wait for issue 20.

Sorry I'm late on posting this but some stuff came up that delayed me a little.

DC Universe Holiday Special 2010 - I wasn't expecting a lot from this but for the most part it was pretty good but not really all that christmasy if you want some fun little stories pick it up.

The Flash #7 - This issue tells the origin of captain boomerang and I really liked it I've never read the flash before the start of this volume so this was a nice way to get to know one of the rouges.

Uncle Scrooge #398 - This series is a lot of fun if you like Duck tales or such cartoons pick this up.

The Incredible Hulks #618 - I really enjoyed this not the best jump on point but if you really wont to start reading I don't think you'd be completely lost.

Scooby-Doo Where Are You? #4 - Really fun issue this series is just a lot of fun pick it up if you like the cartoons.

Detective Comics Annual #12 - Really enjoyed this can't wait to see what happens in the Batman Annual.

Sonic Universe #23 - Buy this only if you want a fun lighthearted read that is just a lot of fun.

Comics Released Nov.24 + Dec.1 Reviews

I was planning on making a video today but I found out that my camera battery is fucked so for the next little while I'll just be doing text reviews.

Batman 80 page giant 2010 - I'll admit I didn't finish this yet I've read about half and so far it's really good but i don't know if it's good enough to justify the $6 cover price.

Action Comics Annual #13 - This was meh it wasn't really bad or really good. You can skip this one.

Jonah Hex 62 - This was a great book and it has been since i started reading the series. Buy this.

Secret Six #28 - This is the conclusion to the reptile brain story arc and if you are reading this book then you need some serious help. Buy it.

Shadowland 5 of 5 - I haven't talked about shadowland in any videos yet cause with events I prefer to wait until they are over before giving my thoughts on them. This was pretty damn good though I really like the more character based events DC and Marvel have been doing lately. Buy this.

Daredevil #512 - This was good but READ THIS AFTER SHADOWLAND 5. Buy it.

Adventure Comics #521 - This issue was ok probably worth buying.

JLA #50 + #51 - I haven't read JLA for a long time but I decided what the hell I'll give it a try I'm glad I did. Buy this.

Futurama Comics #50 - I really don't know when this issue came out but whatever. I have watched maybe 5 or 6 episodes of futurama but I really liked this comic. Buy this.

Detective Comics #871 - New Creative team on Detective comics and they start off with a winner. Buy this.

Batman & Robin #17 - This start Paul Cornell's arc and it's OK. Skip able but not terrible.

Amazing Spider-Man #649 - Dan Slott has removed any doubts I had about him as the sole writer of Spider-Man. Buy this.

Captain America #612 - It's Brubaker writing Captain America what more do you want? Buy this.

Deadpool Team-Up #887 - Fun book not amazing or anything but fun. I say buy it if you want something light.

Action Comics #895 - Good story and sets up a story arc with the secret six. Buy this.

Uncanny X-Men #530 - New story arc starts here and it's good. Buy this.

Green Arrow #6 - I don't know why you wouldn't be buying Green Arrow but if you aren't you should remedy that now. Pretty good issue but skip able.

The Traveler #1 - Fun book I'm going to buy the next few issues at least. Buy this.

Deadpool #29 - This was an ok conclusion to the story arc not a must buy though. Skip able.

The Incredible Hulks #617 - Good conclusion to the current story. Buy this.

Fantastic Four #585 - Good book but if your not buying it your not missing anything amazing. If you've been reading buy this if not it's skip able.

Batman Beyond 6 of 6 - The conclusion to this mini which is feeding into the new ongoing it's a fun read but you can wait for the trade.

Batman: Odyssey 5 of 13 - If you see this book RUN or BURN IT it's really fucking bad. NEVER BUY THIS.

Sonic the Hedgehog #219 - I really enjoy this series it's a lot of lighthearted fun buy it if that is the kind of book you're looking for.
