Mac OS X | Change the default screen shot format

Being the regular user of Mac OS X, I just want to have a way of converting the file formats of the screen shots I take very often, since the default image file format that is being saved on the desktop for each screen shot I take using the Mac short keys (Shift+Cmd+[3 or 4]) will be PNG. So instead of changing the file format of the screen shots every time manually, I found a better way of converting the file formats as we desire automatically by just typing the following command in the Mac terminal window:

defaults write com.apple.screencapture type image_format

Here replace the 'image_format' with the desired file format. I have tried with JPEG, TIFF and PDF and all the worked fine for me) You'll then have to logout/login to make the change take effect.

Google's Picasa Beta is now released for Mac OS X

Finally its a good news for the Mac Users, since Google has officially released the Beta version of their popular photo management application Picasa for Macs in the recent held Macworld, 2009 offering a free download for OS X. It is a long awaiting release for the Mac users, since Picasa was only released for Windows and Linux platforms.

Picasa for Mac does not have any major feature wise difference, compared to its windows counterpart.

Both the versions has free web album uploads after editing the images as desired with the tools comes with Picasa by default. Now Picasa for Mac has become a direct competitor to Macs iPhoto

Easily file your IT returns in India

It's that time of the year again when you need to tell the Tax Man about the taxes you have paid! The last date for filing your IT returns being July - I thought it'll be useful if I listed out the simple steps on how you can file your tax returns online very easily.

You can submit your Income Tax Return on-line by following process - without submitting your Form 16.
1. Go to http://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/index.jsp
2. Register and create user (username will need to be your Pan Number)
3. Go to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/individual_huf.do
4. Download the ITR-1 form
5. Fill the form
6. Cross Check the form for correctness.
7. Generate barcode
8. Next generate .xls(the excel file) and save on your system
9. Then go to https://incometaxindiaefiling.gov.in/portal/login.do and login again
10. Click on submit return.
11. Upload xls file.
12. Click on upload.
Once you have submitted your return, you're done.
The best thing is that you can also check your refund status if any.

eSnips - another download songs hack

Friends, as you know till now I have posted around 4 hacks to download songs from the eSnips songs database, but every time I tried to do so eSnips people always have some stuffs to block it. But after a nice weekend, today morning I came with yet another easy way to download songs.

This only works with Apple's Safari web browser . I hope all Mac users are already familiar about it. Windows users who don't have Safari browser can download it here.

Downloading songs here is very easy and simple. Please follow the below steps for download..

1. Open Safari and go to any eSnips song you would like to play
2. when the page loads, go to Activity menu item under Window menu (or simply use Ctrl+Alt+A as short key)
3. In the Activity Window that puts up, go to the desired songs URL (look for file type as MP3 under Status tab) that you would like to download and simply double click on that

that's it ... you are done ! Download will initiate in Safari's default Download dialog

Today I came across a very good and more useful blog http://udupipolice.blogspot.com/ which I think is very useful for each and every citizen of Udupi district. Its a great achievement by Udupi District police as well as a tremondous contribution to each and every Udupia'n.

Udupi people can take more benefit from it since it has a regular updates involving all the crime, thefts that are happening in the district through online, so that people could much aware of such situations.

Please do make better use out of it..

Apart from all the basic features it also has an online complaint booking system and a list of contact numbers of all the police stations, higher police officials so that the people can make much more use of it in the disastrous situations. Since I feel it as more useful but the same can be made much better apart from the present one by adding some crime awareness videos so that the younger generation will get better knowledge from it.

I’m sure that you will try to go to Internet Cafes or change your IP Adress just to click the ads on your Website, Not knowing that Google is very intellegent enough to track you.

3. Low Traffic - If you have low traffic, and you got clicks, it can also result to your account to be banned. For example, if you have only 10 visitors a day and you got 5 or more than clicks, thats also very obvious.
4. Not related ad cliks - If you got clicks that are not related to your website or blog post, can be also a result to ban.
5. Duration of Visitor - Google knows how long your visitors stayed in your website. If an individual goes to your site and clicks your ads even he/she stayed only a second in your site, can also be a result to ban.

esips download songs 'hack' revisited

In one of my earlier post esnips - Download songs 'Hack', I have mentioned an easy way to download songs from esnips with nsdoc. Actuallly that was an easier approach to download the desired song by just appending 'ns' to the song play link url.

Well, the old method of NSDOC will not work anymore as ESnips have changed their Player and the new player follows a bit different approach to play a file. Here is the new way of downloading.

I have tried this new hack and it only works with Firefox browser and it won't work in any of the other browsers like IE, Safari etc

Well, Hope you all a bit happy now !

Just go to play any of the files in esnips, if for e.g if the song URL that you want to play is

http://www.esnips.com/doc/91481567-a2e5-4fff-a8e2-63522f335956/[aR]-Classically-Mild---01---Sochta-Hoon-Main

then follow the below steps to download any file including the above:

1. change doc to nsdoc in the URL.

2. Remove the song name completely from URL, in above case this would be

[aR]-Classically-Mild---01---Sochta-Hoon-Main

3. Replace the Song name with /ts_id/1205795172796/ns_flash/file1.mp3

4. Now just copy paste the new URL into the address bar and press enter.. and that's it all about. Your download will start automatically

In above case the new URL will be -

http://www.esnips.com/nsdoc/91481567-a2e5-4fff-a8e2-63522f335956//ts_id/1205795172796/ns_flash/file1.mp3

Only disadvantage of this method is, the file that downloads will not have the actual filename, rather will have file1.mp3 as it’s filename.

Being a regular blogger I frequently used to find new things for my blogger page layout like widgets, hacks etc. Since from the past couple of months I was pretty irritated with the blogger's blog archive widget which my site visitors will use to browse blog contents. But today while playing with my daily mate called Google Search I found superb way to browse the entire contents of my blog in a much easier passion with a single click. I would like to simply call it as 'TOC' (Table of Contents)

All you need to do is a simple update to your blogger HTML and CSS and you are done. Since I found it more useful and hope you can try the same for yours also. You can try the same with my blog by just clicking on 'Easy Go Avirules' link on my right side bar.
NOTE: Please make sure that you have have a complete backup of your blog code, before trying this hack !

Follow the Below Steps:

Backup your template first before start (recommended)

1. Go to edit template and look for the code <b:section> with id=main. This is the section which holds all of your blog posts. Which looks similar to the below

change the above line of code to

<b:section class='main' id='main' maxwidgets='x' showaddelelment='yes'>

Save the template

2. Go to Add Page Elements and add a HTML/Java Script page element above your blog posts and put the below code into it before saving

3. Now add another HTML/Java Script page element to either your left or right sidebar and put the below code into it before you save. (don't forget to update your blog URl in the code)

How to activate Microsoft Office 2007 60 days trial version

Most of the products that Microsoft releases always comes with a evaluation trial period and which wont work after that. Once after the trial period expires the user has to either purchase the full version or just keep quiet. Microsoft has recently released Microsoft Office 2007 with some much enhanced features when compared to the its previous release Office 2003.
The trial version of Microsoft Office 2007 can be installed by using a 25-character trial product key available from Microsoft while you download the free Office software, and you can use the Microsoft Office 2007 suite with full functionality for 60 days.

This Microsoft Office 2007 suit trial can be installed without the trial product key(which comes by default with the trial version) but will work in reduced functionality. Beside, if you forget the trial product key, or don’t wish to register a Windows Live ID to get the trial key, here’s the trick/hack to activate Office 2007 or in other words just bypass the activation of Office 2007 60 days trial which makes the word “Trial” to disappear from the Office title at the top and suppress activation and trial expiry prompt. To use this hack to crack activation on Office 2007 either you need to install Office 2007 without any serial number or product key. In case if you have installed Office 2007 with a product key or serial number follows the below steps to clean remove Office 2007 product key

STEPS to remove Office 2007 product key:

1. Close all Microsoft Office applications.

2. Run Register Editor by clicking on Start -> Run, and then type “regedit” in the Open box and press Enter key.

3. Navigate to the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration

Note that inside the registry key, there should be another sub key that resembles the following:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{90120000-0030-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Registration\{91120000-0011-0000-0000-0000000FF1CE

4. If there is more than one registry entries or sub keys that reference Microsoft 12.0 registration, open up each sub key, and then identify the product by the ProductName value data until you locate the sub key for the product which you want to remove the existing product license key.

For example:

ProductName=Microsoft Office Professional Plus 2007
ProductName=Microsoft Office Enterprise 2007

5. Once found the correct registry sub key, delete the following values:

DigitalProductID
ProductID

6. Close Registry Editor.

And once Microsoft Office 2007 has been installed with no product key, proceed with the following steps:

1. In Windows Explorer, browse 'C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\OFFICE12\Office Setup Controller\Proof.en\'

2. Right click on Proof.XML file, select “Open With…” in the right click menu and open this file with notepad

3. Scroll down to the bottom of the Proof.XML to locate the following lines:

</Feature> <Feature Id=”SetupXmlFiles” Cost=”1248″>
<OptionRef Id=”AlwaysInstalled”/>
</Feature>

Change the AlwaysInsalled to neverInstalled so that the line looks like following:

<OptionRef Id=”neverInstalled”/>

Save the Proof.xml file. In Windows Vista, you may need to take ownership and grant full access permission to yourself before able to modify the file.

You can now launch Microsoft Office 2007 application such as Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Outlook and etc without prompting for activation. But once it is done you won’t be able to AND can’t access any updates or Microsoft Office Online.

Salary taxpayers who have not received refunds for assessment years 2003\04 to 2006\07 can click on the link below and query using the PAN number and assessment year whether any refund due to them has been returned undelivered from the salary refund management system'.

If any refund has been returned undelivered due to change in address, then the taxpayer can enter the present address and the refund will be sent to the taxpayer at the new address.
