National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch until 11pm Tonight for parts of North Texas, mostly North and West of the Metroplex.

THERE IS A SLIGHT CHANCE OF SEVERE THUNDERSTORMS CONTAINING VERY
LARGE HAIL...DAMAGING WINDS...AND FREQUENT LIGHTING NORTHWEST OF
AN EASTLAND TO GAINESVILLE LINE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. IN ADDITION...
THERE MAY BE A VERY BRIEF WINDOW FOR AN ISOLATED TORNADO WITH
DISCRETE STORMS ACROSS THE RED RIVER VALLEY THROUGH EARLY EVENING.

STORMS WILL BECOME MORE NUMEROUS THIS EVENING AND POSSIBLY FORM
INTO A SQUALL LINE WITH AN INCREASED THREAT FOR DAMAGING WINDS
BETWEEN 60 AND 70 MPH. THE SEVERE WEATHER THREAT WILL EXPAND AS
FAR SOUTH AS A LAMPASAS...TO WACO...TO ATHENS LINE. THE SEVERE
WEATHER THREAT IS EXPECTED TO DIMINISH AFTER MIDNIGHT AS INSTABILITY

ACROSS NORTH TEXAS THIS AFTERNOON. A FEW OF THESE STORMS MAY
BECOME SEVERE PRODUCING HAIL TO OVER 1 INCH IN DIAMETER AND WIND
GUSTS TO 60 MPH.

STRONG TO SEVERE STORMS ARE EXPECTED TO DEVELOP NORTHWEST AND WEST
OF THE AREA ALONG A DRY LINE LATE THIS AFTERNOON. THESE STORMS
WILL MOVE EAST/SOUTHEAST INTO NORTH TEXAS BY EARLY EVENING. LARGE
HAIL AND DAMAGING WINDS WILL BE THE MAIN THREATS WITH ANY STORMS

Perhaps one good thing about our Spring Storm Season is that the storms usually leave the atmosphere clean and refreshed which will be the case this week. High Pressure will dominate North Texas weather for a good chunk of the week and we get to reap the benefits of low humidity and cooler evenings and mornings.

Today's surface map shows the cold front which brought rain to North Texas over the weekend moving off to the East. It will be replaced by a ridge of High Pressure, clearly seen over Arizona. The High will move toward Texas and bring a moslty calm, dry week.

Today: Mostly sunny, with a high near 74. Northeast wind between 10 and 15 mph.

Tonight: Partly cloudy, with a low around 54. North northeast wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Tuesday: Sunny, with a high near 78. Northeast wind between 5 and 10 mph.

Wednesday: Sunny, with a high near 80. South southeast wind between 5 and 10 mph.
