Barcelona recently announced that Lionel Messi will stay at the club until 2021 with a newly improved salary of £500,000-per-week deal and also a $854m buy-out clause. This will make Lionel Messi the highest paid footballer in Europe at the moment this 2019.

With all that he has achieved for and with FC Barcelona, Lionel Messi’s new salary comes just after speculations arose that he might leave the club due to not signing high profile players that will challenge the likes of eternal rivals Real Madrid, Bayern Munich, e.t.c for the La Liga trophy and Champions League cup.

Azeez Fashola ‘Naira Marley’ was arrested by the EFCC on the 10th of May 2019 (which happened to be his birthday), in relation to internet fraud.

He was arrested along side Zlatan Ibile, Rahmon Jago, blogger Biesloaded and one other.

When the other four were released, Naira Marley remained in detention and was later charged to court on 11 count.

Speaking on the development EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, said;

“There is overwhelming evidence against Naira Marley; so we can’t afford to release him on administrative bail like Zlatan and the three others.

“That Zlatan has been released does not mean they have been discharged and acquitted. Naira Marley is still in our custody and will be charged to court soon and we will make the charges known in an official statement soon.”

NAIRA MARLEY CHARGED TO COURT

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission preferred 11 charges bordering on fraud against, Azeez Fashola, aka Naira Marley, for alleged credit card fraud.

The charges with suit number FHC/L/178C/19 were filed before a Lagos State High Court.

The charges read in part,

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 11th day of December 2018, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, conspired amongst yourselves to use Access card 42658840359191132 issued to persons other than you in a bid to obtain gain and you thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 27(1)(b) of the Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015 and punishable under Section 33(2) of the Same Act.

“That you, Azeez Adeshina Fashola, aka Naira Marley, and Raze (still at large), on or about the 10th day of May 2019, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, with intent to defraud possessed, counterfeit card 4921819410257431 issued to Timea Fedorne Tatar and you thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 33(9) of Cyber Crimes (Prohibition, Prevention etc) Act 2015.”

Omoniyi Temidayo Raphael popularly known by his stage name as Zlatan Ibile is a fast rising Nigerian hip hop rapper, singer, songwriter, street music sensation, stage performer and a recording artist. He was born on 19th December 1994 in Lagos, Nigeria. He is currently 24 years old. He is very gifted, skillful, creative and talented. He is originally from Ekiti State in the south western part of Nigeria.

Zlatan Ibile further increased his popularity in 2018 with an appearance on “Able God” a hit song by Chinko Ekun which also featured Nigerian rapper Li Kesh. Shortly afterwards, he dropped a new song titled “Zanku” which was accompanied by a crazy new dance move popularly known as Leg Work. Towards the end of 2018, Zlatan Ibile closed the year with another hit song titled “Osanle” in which he featured Davido. Zlatan Ibile started 2019 with the release of “Glory” before appearing on another hit single, “Killin Dem” alongside Burna Boy.

As events unfolded, it turned out that the boy was just playing around. However, when the video of the young boy came into the possession of Zlatan Ibile, he decided to take the joke to another level. He created an Instagram account for the boy and started promoting him as a comedian. And then realizing how talented the boy was, Zlatan Ibile decided to send the boy to a private school and made financial provision for his upkeep.

In 2018, things turned sour when it was alleged that Zlatan Ibile was using the 9-years-old boy as a tool for extortion. It was also reported that some thugs related to the family of the young boy attacked and assaulted Zlatan Ibile, which led to the end of his relationship with the young boy. Arrest and release

In April 2019, Zlatan Ibile was arrested alongside Naira Marley and two others in connection with an alleged case of internet fraud and money laundering. He was subsequently released by the Nigerian Economic and Financial Crime Commission (EFCC) when they discovered that he was innocent.

On 19th October 2019, Zlatan Ibile was nominated for Next Rated at the Headies Award and lost the award to Rema. He was nominated twice at the Headies Award and won nothing. This caused uproar among his fans on social media who blamed the Headies for manipulating the award.

Arsenal have identified Massimiliano Allegri and Mikel Arteta as the perfect candidates to replace underfire manager, Unai Emery.

Former England and Juventus manager, Fabio Capello has advised Massimiliano Allegri to wait for a move to the English Premier League instead of Bayern Munich.

Top 20 Africa Most Attractive Market For Investments

For the third year running, South Africa has topped as Africa’s most attractive market for investments.

In ABSA’s latest Africa Financial Markets Index the Southern African country has came top in terms of financial market development.

The Cyril Ramaphosa-led country was also ranked top in access to foreign exchange, market transparency, tax and regulatory environment and capacity of local investors.

“South Africa has claimed top position mainly because of its sizeable lead in market depth and deep market liquidity supported by strong domestic investors,” the report noted.

“South Africa’s high position on access to foreign exchange after having been overtaken by Kenya in the previous edition of this index was as a result of high interbank foreign exchange turnover, regular exchange rate reporting and a favorable reserve level relative to net portfolio flows.”

The index described South Africa as having “deep market liquidity anchored by strong domestic investors” and noted that it has the largest market capitalisation of any of the countries. The country was top of four of the six pillars and it remains well ahead of second placed Mauritius, which jumped up from number four in 2018, and which was characterised as having a “sizeable pool of investible pension assets with strong legal framework”.

There was again a drop to third-placed Kenya, where “sovereign bond listings enhance asset pool”, but from there on the rankings were tight, with Namibia, Botswana and Nigeria all having similar positions, albeit that Botswana had fallen from second place in 2018 as a “drop in pension assets reduces local investor capacity”.

The middle group is Tanzania, Zambia, Rwanda, Uganda, Egypt, Morocco and Ghana, all of which are again close together, followed by Seychelles, Mozambique, Ivory Coast and then Angola. Egypt, however, has been something of a success, rising five places, having a “strong macroeconomic outlook and high transparency”, ranking best for macroeconomic opportunity.

Bottom of the index’s 20 countries remains Ethiopia, which was characterised as having had “rapid economic growth but still lacking financial markets infrastructure”. Just ahead of it is Cameroon, with “weak domestic investor capacity” and Senegal with a “fast-growing economy but small pool of local assets available for investment”.

The report ranked 20 African countries based on six key pillars: market depth, access to foreign exchange, tax and regulatory environment and market transparency, the capacity of local investors, macroeconomic opportunity, and enforceability of financial contracts, collateral positions, and insolvency frameworks.

Now in its second year, the index is a premier indicator of the attractiveness of Africa’s financial markets, for use by governments, investors and asset managers around the world. ‘The second edition of the Absa Africa Financial Markets Index draws attention to the considerable investment opportunities and untapped market potential of countries across the continent,’ says Akinwumi Adesina, president of the African Development Bank, in a foreword to the report.

“The index is becoming a powerful barometer for policymakers and playing a role in building an Africa which is able to fund itself,” George Asante, the head of global markets for Absa’s regional operations said.

Arsenal Remove Xhaka As Captain

Struggling English Premier League side Arsenal on Tuesday announced that it has stropped midfielder Granit Xhaka as captain of the club.

Xhaka threw his arms up in the air and cupped his ears after his substitution was greeted by boos during their 2-2 draw with Crystal Palace.

Arsenal manager Unai Emery had called on his captain to issue an apology to the fans, with many pundits urging the club to strip him of his captaincy.

The Switzerland captain, however, released a statement on Thursday explaining why he reacted that way to Arsenal fans.

Xhaka claimed that the life of his wife and child was threatened by some fans of Arsenal.

Speaking on Tuesday ahead of the Gunners Europa League match against Vitoria SC, Unai Emery revealed that Xhaka was no longer part of the Gunners’ leadership group adding that Xhaka “accepted” the decision.

“I have spoken to Granit and he is no longer one of the captains in the group,” Emery said.

Asked if Xhaka will ever play for Arsenal again, the Gunners’ boss didn’t give a clear answer.

“The future is Arsenal’s future. We have a very important match on Saturday,” he said.

“We need to take some decisions… My focus is for tomorrow.

“He is our player, we want to respect him.”

Emery also confirmed that Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has taken over as club captain
