Honestly, Lake Crescent has the clearest water Daniel and I have ever seen. It has to do with the fact the lake was formed from a glacier.

In the morning, we packed up the car, said goodbye to beautiful La Push, and took these turkeys to breakfast at River&#39;s Edge Restaurant right on the water. It&#39;s the only restaurant on the Quileute reservation and there were only a few other people in the restaurant, all locals. After a nice hearty breakfast, we splurged on marionberry cobbler. After a 1.4-mile hike through old-growth forest, we arrived at the beach.


Gorgeous! And worth every step. It was cool to see the tents set up on the beach. I would love to come back and hike/camp down the coast one day. Of course, we had lots of fun looking for sea creatures.

Then it was time to take a drive east into the rain forest. We headed for the Hoh Rain Forest in Olympic National Park. This area is famous for its annual rainfall--12 to 14 feet per year. Yes, feet! Combine that with all the mist and fog from the ocean, and you get one of North America&#39;s best-preserved temperate rainforests.

We planned to spend five days exploring the Olympic Peninsula. Our first stop (and home base for the first three nights) was La Push, WA. The fastest route to get there included a ferry. It was so different to travel in a place where ferries are a part of everyday travel.
