Yahoo hired a new CEO, Marissa Mayer- who served Google for 13 years. The announcement has been made while it releases second quarter earning on Tuesday.

Marissa Mayer is not the first woman in CEO of high-profile technology company, but still its rare to find woman in top post of technology companies.

Mayer joined Google in 1999 as first female engineer and its 20th employee. She does not have any Google products like simple homepage, Gmail, Google news thats known to her , but she is inside all the major services that Google developed over the Google's first transformative decade. Mayer was on the three-strong team who invented Google AdWords, the groundbreaking algorithm that linked advertisers' keywords to search results and helped deliver 96% of the company's $10.6bn revenues in the first quarter of the last year.

"The first and lasting impression of working with Marissa is of someone incredibly smart," said Dan Crow, a former Google product manager. "She loves new ideas and finding better ways to do things." According to the Mayer colleague at the time of work, Mayer is as confident leading a headstrong team of male engineers as she is on the front cover of an upmarket glamour magazine. Vogue profiled her in 2009.

In 2010, Mayer was put in charger of the company's plateauing maps and location products, including Google Places and Street View. Later Larry Page was appointed for CEO.

Microsoft releases Customer Preview of the new version of Office, calling New Office. The new office has new user interface that works excellent with touch sense, stylus, mouse or keyboard in Windows devices.

The earlier UI has slightly changed to fit the Metro UI of Windows 8. Basically the new icons seems just like as in Windows 8. But still the old design remains in some case, so its just like the mix of old and new UI.

Although the New Office 2013 is targeted for the touchscreen, still there consisting some buttons with low optimization just like old design for mouse and keyboard.

D33Ds Hacks Yahoo- Leaks 4.5 lakh Passwords Online

Are you a Yahoo user? Your email might be hacked and your password might be one of the 45300 passwords leaked recently by the Hackers group calling D33Ds Company.

Yahoo has been just suffered from a database attack which leaks 45300 encrypted account passwords online. The hacker group itself posted online that the passwords were from the file pilfered from the Sunnyvale, California-based Internet Pioneer, describing "as a wake-up call not as a threat". They also said that they were able to leak through the SQL injection, a common method of attacking that the Sony suffers in 2011. Some other sources also says that the accounts were from the Yahoo voice service.

Yahoo confirmed that a file from Contributor Network containing 4.5k Yahoo and other company user account and passwords was compromised on Wednesday. Also Yahoo said that only 5 percent of leaked passwords were valid.

"We hope that the parties responsible for managing the security of this subdomain will take as a wake-up call, and not as a threat. There have been many security holes exploited in webservers belonging to Yahoo! Inc. that have caused far greater damage than our disclosure. Please do not take them lightly. The subdomain and vulnerable parameters have not been posted to avoid further damage." posted by D33Ds company in their site.

The original website of D33Ds company (d33ds.co) has been down from early Thursday, however the text file can still available through torrent site such as Media fire.

Other accounts like gmail, AOL and others may be also affected.

World's Thinnest Transparent Display - On 700 nm Soap Bubble

Now all the LCD, LED and Plasma displays with milimeter of thickness has become nothing in front of the 700nm Transparent display created on Soap Bubble. Researcher Yoichi Ochiai from the Unniversity of Tokyo and his team have developed a live transparent display using a special type of soap bubble of just 700 nm thick.

The surface of the soap bubble is a micro membrane which allows light to pass through it and display color. The screen can be controlled with ultrasonic waves for transparency and 3D volume.The output of 2D and 3D images is possible due to the variation of ultrasonic vibration and if the several bubble screen are used together, even 3D effect along with holographic images can be produced.

Due to the chemical mixture with special colloids,the bubbles used are so harder than a typical soap bubble and also an object can pass through the bubble without popping it.

Ochiai says,"This system contributes to open up a new path for display engineering with sharp imageries, transparency, BRDF and flexibility." on his blog.

"The combination of the ultrasonic waves and ultra thin membranes makes more realistic, distinctive, and vivid imageries on screen."

As we see in the videos, todays big LCD and LED won't be replaced by this type of screen but it could be useful for the artists for turning their works into realistic feeling and also for displaying floating objects and for magicians.

Improve Battery Life of your HTC

Everyone want a longlife smartphone with a single charge. But there is still limitation on it. Here are some tips for improving the battery life of your HTC.

Basic Power Management:

Quickly and easily turn on, off or adjust key setting such as screen brightness, timeout, Wi-Fi, and Auto-Sync with a single tap by adding the Power Dashboard to your home screen. Press and hold an open spot on the home screen, select “Settings (HTC)” from the widgets drop-down list, then select “Power Dashboard.”
Monitor your battery usage stats to see what’s consuming the most power. In Settings, tap Power > Battery use.
As with any computer, you want to make sure you have the most recent, available updates. This is no different for your HTC Phone, where these software updates sometimes include battery usage improvements. In Settings, tap About > Software updates.

Sync Settings:

Continually syncing unused services impacts overall battery performance. You can customize your settings and sync only essential items in Accounts & sync under the Settings menu
Selecting “Smart Sync” in Mail settings ensures you update e-mail based on how you use your phone. This helps preserve batter life and also avoid interruptions when you’re playing videos on your phone or when you leave it idle at night.
When you’re not jumping from one city to another, sync weather updates of only your current city, rather than in all of your named locations. In the Weather app, tap Menu > Edit to remove unneeded cities.

Managing Wireless Connections:

Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS LOVE the battery. Turning these features off when you’re not using them will help you maximize battery life. Slide the notifications panel, and then tap Settings to see the items to disable.
Your phone uses up more power in low coverage areas. Check your network signal, and then select an appropriate network mode in Mobile network settings. Or, turn it off when you’re not connected to a network.
Connecting to location services uses more battery. Be sure to close the navigation app, such as Maps and Locations, after using it on your phone.

Managing Your Display:

Adjust your display settings. Lower screen brightness when playing music on the lock screen. Or set the screen timeout to a shorter time (if you don’t manually turn off the display).
Create a Basic scene for your home screen in All apps > Personalize > Scene. Add your favorite shortcuts, remove extra home panels, and choose non-animated wallpaper. Use this scene when your power is going low. Then switch to your regular home screen when you’ve recharged.
Set your phone to auto-dim the screen while webpages load. Open the Internet app, tap Menu > Settings > Accessibility > Dim screen during page loading.

Managing Your Apps:

Uninstall or disable apps you don’t use. In Settings, tap Apps > All, and then select the app to uninstall or disable. (Note that if you disable built-in apps, other apps may misbehave. So do this sparingly).
Check your apps’ settings as you may find more options to optimize your battery. In Play Store, for example, tap Menu > Settings, and then clear Auto-update apps and Auto-add widgets.

Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut

According to the recent announcement by the BioWare, the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut will release on June 26th on Xbox 360, PC, and PlayStation 3 in North America, July 4th for PlayStation 3 in Europe and rest of world on July 4.

The Extended Cut is free for the Mass Effect 3 game owners for PC and Xbox 360 customers starting from 26 June. The Extended Cut can be downloaded from Xbox LIVE, Origin on PC, and PlayStation Network at no additional cost.

There is no difference in story but contains cinematic sequences and epilogue scences.To experience the Extended Cut, load a save game from before the attack on the Cerberus Base and play through to the end of the game.
