Good Friday/Easter Weekend

2014-04-19T17:15:00.000+08:00

It's the Good Friday and Easter Weekend!

Here's sharing a newly released Easter single from Hillsong Live, depicting so beautifully God's grace and mercy and the day our Saviour paid the ultimate sacrifice for our sins.

"Calvary covers it all
My sin and shame don't count anymore
All praise to the One
Who has ransomed my soul
Calvary covers it all"

Calvary, covers it all.

[Audio] Meld Christmas - Winter Wonderland

2013-12-14T09:47:00.000+08:00

So it's December, and it's 11 days to Christmas!

Was reminded of this song when I walked in and explored the new Robinsons at The Heeren. Decorated in pure whites, greys and blacks, the place feels like winter, complete with a huge artifical crystal ball with flying snow and christmas trees within. Such a pretty sight!

Do check out the rest of the songs in the Christmas playlist & The Heeren if you're interested. Definitely a lovely place to check out if you've run out of places to go in town.

Merry Christmas from Singapore, a country with 365 days of summer. :)

[Update] Meld Turns Two!

2013-09-06T11:30:00.000+08:00

A year ago, I thought we couldn't improve/grow any further, and yet again I am proven wrong! God is good.

At 31 videos, 163 Youtube subscribers, 16,637 video views, Meld turned TWO on the 6th of September 2013!

Last year, we were at 22 videos, 45 Youtube subscribers, and 5,105 video views, the big jump in subscribers and video views definitely shocked me when I just checked it out today, and I'm so, so very grateful to everyone who has been sharing our videos, sharing our site, sharing with us anything, from song requests to feedback to simple compliments or simple "Thank you"s.

I started this project not really sure that it may take off. Harmony seems a bit of a super niche market, and I wasn't really sure that anyone would learn anything from it. But today, I'm happy to know that people do learn something from whatever I'm uploading and I'm glad I had the chance to be the one teaching it.

Two years old, and definitely not going away. I look forward to serving you all (I really do! It's been a real fun 2 years) and I promise that I'll be more active in the next year! TGBTG.

Cheers,
Louisa

Filming at a new setting! In an especially good mood today, so here's a peek at my bedroom. Here's the tutorial for "Oceans (Where Feet May Fail)" chorus and bridge. A pretty complicated tutorial, so do keep practicing! This song was requested a couple of times on our site, so I'm finally getting down to recording my suggested harmony. All in all a really beautiful track from Hillsong United!

[Video] Hillsong - You'll Come

2013-07-09T07:16:00.000+08:00

Here's the harmony tutorial for the chorus and bridge. Sung as closely to the original key as possible, hence it is not exactly very comfortable for my voice. I hope this has been useful to you!

[Video] Hillsong - Stronger

2013-07-01T07:14:00.000+08:00

Apologies for the key that is quite uncomfortable for me, but I wanted to sing it as closely to the original key as possible in order for you to be able to practice the harmony part with the original track!

Practice hard!

[Practice Kit] Hillsong - Believe

2012-04-01T10:00:00.025+08:00

Hi there! Today's the first of April, and here comes the (mini) launch of my new project "Practice Kits". For simplicity's sake, all "Practice Kit" posts will have this additional pink banner at the start of the post. As explained on the sidebar, these practice kits are meant to (eventually) make up a bank of harmony recordings to songs that I have covered in video or not. Due to time constraints, not many people are that free to watch my videos again and again to learn the harmony part they want to learn and hence audio recordings seem like the way to go!

I will still be producing video tutorials! To be honest, "Practice Kits" take less time to produce than video tutorials. The video tutorial upload time to Youtube takes a long time because it's... well a full-on video with moving images (in this case, a moving me... haha).

The first practice kit will cover Hillsong's Believe.

Practice kits come in 3 parts (as labelled in the video e.g. Part 1 of 3, Part 2 of 3 and so on...)

Anyway, Lynette and I have actually covered this song before, dedicating it to our late mother. Here is the video:

I hope this practice kit works out to be effective for you! Please comment on the youtube videos if you have any feedback or have questions to ask.

Love and more,
Louisa

[Video] Hillsong - Love like Fire

2012-03-08T21:50:00.006+08:00

Song: Hillsong - Love Like Fire

Getting a little rusty from producing these videos after not producing for a long time! Here's the harmony tutorial for the second verse (before the first chorus), pre-chorus and chorus.

I wanna know if the added demonstration at the end (the part where I demonstrate singing the harmony with my pre-recorded melody) is more effective in helping you observe/listen to the blending of the melody and harmony. Do let me know!

Love and more,
Louisa

2012-01-20T21:49:00.002+08:00

Song: Hillsong - Mighty to Save

Here's the harmony tutorial for the Chorus & the Bridge. It may get pretty challenging at the bridge, and I also sound like I'm straining, which I am because the song's in a guy-friendly key haha. Have fun!

Cheers,
Louisa
