I might be sour and pathetic now, but back in college I was VANILLA - no body'ss favourite but everyone had one at the party yesterday.
I had a collection of more than 180 Electronic Arts(EA) games that was updated annually. I had seen football from the age of one. I was the master of driving games and I had no plans for the future, which made me an instant James Stewart among the average my age people who smoke fake marijuana and overuse the word 'awesome'. My dad was rich, which too played a significant role in everything.
    Besides all of them, there was also a good friend. He was not like me, he had a higher IQ, which enabled him to play all night without caring about the next morning. He was not only taller, stronger and sharper but also lean and fit. He was the reason why I cursed God, He was why I hated genetic diversity. We were real good friends and room-mates. Even til date he works with me, the late night show host that solves all your problems in life by suggesting you the perfect shade of purple for your girl friend who eats less and starts ever sentence with 'Its like'. In short or as they as in the streets of Brooklyn, he owned me.
    We had the Lepidus to our trilogy too, an insignificant boy who agreed with everything and stood besides us even in the washrooms. His family was either past caring or past living. His name was either Aryan or Narayan.
    Our four years in college were marked by insignificant mistakes. Unlike the famous IITians ours was a more realistic life. None of us made the three mistakes of our lives that made us superstars. We did make tens of mistakes daily but no one noted then, to say the least. We did burn the library but for that we were suspended and still no one dared to publish us. Urbanisation all over the country led to fans being replaced by centralized air-conditioners so the only theatrical mode of suicide that was possible was no more available. Cutting your wrist was painfull and electrocuting oneself could lead to paralysis rather than death. The only way we could be famous was suicide and too was hence terminate. We did not grow up too work in a call centre, I always was more of a speaker than a listener. This inclined me to the radio stations. A few of our batch mates did end up in a call center and we asked then if ever they stayed up all night, narrate stories of their under achievements and ailing mothers or if they ever made instant girl friends to which they calmly replied how their's was a life similar to a waitress, (note how the female sex is used even in a simili just to provide a more vivid spectrum to your imagination), a waitress for whom a 'thank you' to end the call served as a tip while another phrase, nastier but ending with the same 'you' served as the usual. They lived in a broader scale graph than us, theirs's marked by converging stories of 'how to subscribe for GPRS while ours was a diverging life marked by controlling our sneezes on air.
    My lady and I came from the same state, so did my best friend But Aryan/Narayan came from a land of sugarcanes, child marriage and dowry, any of the central north Indian states, but we did not know about it and we did not care until one day he bought home a dvd, it had a hindi name with mispelled words all over. So, he was the odd one but all of our parents liked him, my dad, being rich and hence by default arrogant, once tiped him off too. That was the only time we heard Aryan/Narayan say. "Drinks on me." My lady's parents were from Maharashtra and it was in fashion for us Maharashtrians to stab, burn and stomp people from up north. My lady left me for Aryan/Narayan before moving on to some athlete, yet their parents had no problem with that. If I had been him, I'd have surely made a fuss out of it and wrote a fake novel about how people from two different states fell in love and against the will of their parents got married, had children and now are building orphanges in every city of the world.
    But this too was not to be. There was a time when I realized that I was allergic to melodrama. For me whats on ESPN had always been more important than the 'state' if affairs.

In college, me and my lady used to live in the same class. We were boarders and that being the only boarding school that promoted multi-sex education, we lived together, not just studied. The thing with my lady is that she was very beautiful, way too beautiful for me and she played computer games too. I on the other hand was just another stereotype 16 years old. And then, the stangest thing happened. We went to the school football game, and something hit her in her belly, very hard, and cola tends to leap out very fast and she vomit all over me. Cola, buttered popcorn, sweet corn and a cheese grilled all combined to produce a mash-potato syrup look! This led to the story book start of a balanced relationship. I coined the term 'my lady' after our first meet.Then school passed, then college passed and then she got selected as editor-in-chief at some newspaper. And not to forget, in college, during our first semester, we broke up. She moved on with some guy from the college basketball draftees who for a change could bear the tattoo machine pain. They married last year and she is five months into a well crafted boy who I bet, will be born with abdominal muscles. My lady allows me to hang out till date and call her 'my lady' too.

I've always believed that french fries should be cheaper; half my days income goes in buying them!
I wake up anytime between 8:00 and 11:00, if its anytime between 8:00 and 10:00, i goto work and if it is not, i still goto work and get paid less.On the wa, just outside the office, just next to the ATM, they have Macdonald's where all the fresh notes collect.I spend 300 rupees daily in the same eat-out evenly divided in three parts - coffee and fries to start, followed by a random drinkable and a franky and finally an illegally served vodka shot with orange syrup to end the orchestra.This makes way for a sizzling night: coldplay followed by call of duty followed by socal networking followed by simulation football and then going over to my lady's place for dinner.Then coming back just in time for Jay leno and finally ending the day with a mediocre action flick that i stole from the internet.
At the age of 24, I stand 5'8 and weigh a lot.Last summer i weighed 90 kgs but the shirt size I use has changed a bit.I distinctly remember being as tall as probably 5'11 during my college days, but now that i earn for a single man family, one has to cut short on many graphs.
I work at radio ninety nine.I used to do the news, but one fine sunday, i wake up late, 16:00 hrs, and to add to my misery, it was the day of our independance.So i got promoted as the head advertisement recorder.This permits me to come late and also leaves me open to poverty !
I earn a negligible amount, but i save a lot.I stole cable from Mr. and Mrs. first floor, their native land was closer to the equator than mine and for that they were rewarded with melanin, bananas and 13 consonent names.I stole the internet from the hostel wifi accross the street.I don't have a phone, someone stole it, but the radio station allows its employees to waste as much electricity and time as they want.I do not do washing or cleaning hence further decrementing my liabilities and going out every night to any friend's for dinner saves grocery bills too.all in all i live a pathetic lifewith the only good to it being a millioniare dad who gave me a fistful of dollars before kick off and insured me medically.According to this provisional clause , if I suffer from anything that needs medical attention, I get paid for the cure.For instance, once i lost a cannine and went to the doctors for a new one.I stayed there for two days until when a 37 year old cancer patient sold hers to me .The shape was perfect and it fitperfectly, only she being a vegetarian, the cannine was more or less like a pre-molar.there was also the incident involving my eye-sight, when i forged a laser surgery and robbed my father of Rs 1,00,000.The LCD panel two metres west of my couch marks the auspicious moment.All in all a very descriptive image is painted of my life and times with an everlasting mental poverty and no particular reason for development or progress with me being the single father of none.

A good movie always begins with something unusual;something off-track.like for instance a war epic would feature the protagonist sharing cosy moments with alcohol or a courtroom drama would have kids playing with some James Stewart.I'll therefore do the same.A few days back, preferably sepia presentation in order to look old, a few days back we were sitting on our couch watching the season finale-31 of battlestar galactica.
now the director would provide a similar scene, only we grow a decade and change battlestar Galactica to Victoria's Secret, but the funny thing is, we were still watching battlestar galactica, we still had our spectacles on and we still ate only brown bread just because it is healthier and white bread causes sleep.the bread part is not true, cause slipping in a few lies just to sound smart will not do any harm and you are probably not paying attention too.
So, we - me,Abhas and changwere room-mates ever since boarding school.What you saw in sepia was us ,though it was Arnav with me and abhas, but he died of something, well that's not important, so Chang joined in college.
We are the smart kids.You see there are some kids who are gifted, some beautiful foe example Jenifer, who heads the cheerleaders and as per Abhas, she once touched his physics lab coat.That is the closest he ever came to a girl.There are others a who fancy sport, those who have abdominal muscles beginning from the chin and run for almost anything.But we are gifted with Intelligence Quotient, smarter people; future Hawkins !

We brush our teeth during recess just to clean the cavity that could acquire a place in our inter-molar regions.We do not eat from the canteen, we do not eat fried food, MacDonald, excess salt, protein suppliments, energy drinks and alcohol.ALl this can damage everything in humans and just because we know it, we dont do it.Prevention is better than cure.
Chang is confused wheather the Double slit experiment that proved light as a wave is true or einstein's theory of waves being particles ; therefore he does not sleep.it has been four days ! we sleep for six hours exact.
A 2nd year masters in technology student has shirts quoted"dolce n Gabana" or "Yankees" or "AIG" , we on the flip-side have "Google" and complex differential equations.
We only watch 'wall street weekly' , 'battestar galactica' & 'complex calculus by Hawkins'.None of us have ever played sport though Abhas once told me that he as a child used to stand at the finish line and refree the races.He once told us about how he killed a dog but thats probably a lie.
Abhas has been an inspiration for me ever since I realized that inspiration and perspiration are two different words.I remember in school,Class VI, i had a negative 1 power in both my eyes whereas he just had minus 0.75 and 0.50.He used to come second in class and i came third.Arnav came first, though he died of something,that's not improtant.Abhas could carry books like a wheel-barrow; i remember him bringing all the Harry portor series together once, to school.
He used to read Paulo Coelho when he was three and he once told me that Ruskin Bond had kissed him and narrated stories to him as a child.Which probably is false too as Abhas never went outside Delhi .He suffered from nine/ ten allergies - spiders, mould, fungi, dust, Intense sunlight, moisturizers, toothpaste touching the skin, salicylic acid, hot water; which was two less than me ! He was phobic to darkness, traveling, more than 10 gallons of water collected anywhere and wool.that reminds me of arnav who loved to swim, well he died of something and thats not important.
The funny thing with us was that we had never been in a fight, never did anything illegal and never lost in anything that we started.Abhas had designed a website as a high school student and till date we are earning from it.But to think of it, I remember Arnav once telling me about his website and as far as i can remember, it had the exact same name.well, he's dead now, so thats not important.
We are rich and successful too.Abhas features in his imaginery magazines that are published in Finland , every month.He also got a patented idea for a piracy check software that Microsoft is working on.Arnav once told me about designing such a thing too, although !
Abhas was a dear friend and so was Arnav.Abhas was successful and Arnav - dead.
Now similar to the end of a movie rather a sitcom, we see exit music, applause by the audience, a small notice/commercial by the producers then scenes from next week's episodes followed by 'created by - Bill Lawrence'.this is what happens now.A rather monotonous life, stuffed with a storybook room-mate and a comic story that has no moral values, no social values and no Shakespearean touches.Though there is always the death of Arnav, who died in a road accident that featured ,the still mint, Abhas too.till that day i had never believed that such people could exist in the world.
