Oh last week we went to see the light carnival in Linnanmäki. Went there with my little sisters, Noel and my dad and we had a great time. So every year a week before Linnanmäki closes for winter time they fix the whole place in beautiful lights, Finnish artist come to perform and on the last day they have a big fire work.
We were there on Thursday night and it was really cold. Due to the cold we could only stay for an hour or so, but we still had plenty of time to eat some cotton candy and popcorn. I don´t even like cotton candy, but there is nothing i would do for a picture.. 😁

Greatest breakfast in Helsinki!

This weekend was a rough one. I got the whole weekend of from work and we finally had the time to try a restaurant we have wanted to try for such a long time already, Gaijin in the heart of Helsinki.

Gaijin is an restaurant that serves Asian food, super good cocktails and has a really nice atmosphere. We have actually had a reservation already a couple of times there, but always had to cancel. So this had been on our plans for a while now.

We started out with some cocktails, I tried the Herushinki cocktail (cucumber, mint and ginger) that I´ve heard is a classic over there and one friend even told me that if I don´t order it she will haunt me for life! Noel tried the Gin-Jutsu (mandarin and kaffir-lime) that the bartender recommended for the evening.

We decided to take the 9 course Gaijin menu, that so many of our friends had recommended. The menu included some of Gaijins favorite dishes such as Sashimi plate, baby pork ribs and scallops. We had some wine and ended the menu with a cocktail called Tinder girl (raspberries, lime and lemon grass).

I am so happy we finally decided to try and it was one of the best menus we have ever had. Next time we will definitely also take the wine pairings for the menu.

This weekend was a good one. We spent some quality time together, saw many of our friends, partied maybe way to much, enjoyed some excellent food and just had the time of our lives. Monday come at me, I am ready.

Last weekend was the best. So relaxing and got to enjoy some real quality time with friends, good food and fun times.
Friday night was acctuly a extempore night! Decided to stay after work for some drinks. One thing led to another and at the end of the night I was full out of a 6 course dinner, used all of my money I had saved, drank lots of wine and even made a visit to a Irish bar called Molly Malones. Money, time and a Friday night well spent!

On Saturday we were invited to a crayfish party at a friends cottage at an island in Sipoo. Great friends, god food and the best weather! I was thinking of not going when I got the invitation due to work, but somehow everything just managed to work out and I had probably the best time in a while. I love chilling at a cottage with friends and family. No make up, chilling, natural.

Theese chill weekend with no real plans are the best.

Aah it´s so nice to be home after a couple of weeks in Turku. Even though I don´t mind the hotel breakfast I got, there is just nothing better than home.
Been home now since Saturday evening and already eaten out two times (in the same restaurant!), had a lot of wine and enjoyed some quality time with Noel, friends and family.

Its the 4th day in Turku. We haven´t really done anything, just working and eating. Its been raining for the most part, so kinda depressing..

The first days have gone by fast! Work, work and some chill at the hotel and on Thursday I went home to my dad for a night.

My dad and his fiance plus my lil sis came from Nagu (an island in the Turku archipelago, where they live. Around 1 h drive to Turku.) to Turku to have dinner with me at Roster Turku. We had a lovely dinner with some cocktails to start with, shared starter, steak as main and a to die for chocolate and raspberry dessert! And ofc some wine, because what would a dinner be without wine.

I decided to go to Nagu with them, so that I could spend some more time with my sister. So we had a fun sleep over in her room. Candy (I ate most of them..), some fun board games, stayed up late and lots of laughing!

Yesterday I had my first evening shift here, so I had time after arriving back from Nagu to go for a nice lunch. We decided to try the Pure Hero. But I have to say.. It was not at all as good as I thought! I think we just ordered the wrong this😝. I chose an green smoothie with pear, mint, basil and some other stuff that I cant remember.. But the pear made the texture grainy, and I hate when a smoothie is grainy! It should be fluffy and smooth!The taste was good but I just hated the texture.. But I know next time I´ll just try something else. My colleague tried also an other green smoothie, and it had some special nutrition powder and it actually tasted just like the powder.. We were a bit disappointed but the raw cakes we tried where the booomb! So good and healthy. So something good out of it all.

Today my colleague from Helsinki is leaving and I will be left all alone.. We had to check out of the hotel, and I´ll stay at an other colleague here in Turku for two nights.So no more hotel breakfast 😭 The breakfast here at Scandic has been so good, they really have but a lot of effort to make it good!

More work today, so have a happy Saturday everyone!

What to do in Turku?

Hi guys!
Arrived to Turku today and I am staying for nearly two weeks. I am doing some work stuff here, but other than that I have no clue what to do in Turku!! Everything closes earlier than in Helsinki, its cheaper but also everything feels a bit more boring? Or is it just me who has not given Turku a chance? Lets see.
I am staying at a hotel in the city center and the best part is that I have the best cafe in Turku, Pure Hero, across the street! We did a day trip in Spring here, just to get to their breakfast smoothiebowl pop up thingy they had just for one day. So worth it. I know where i am getting my breakfast/lunch/dinner the whole time I´m here!
So let me know if you guys have any tips on what to do, where to eat and what to see here!

Movie night.

Hi again! I am finally starting to get better with writing here!

So summer is almost over and autumn is starting to arrive. But there is still time to do some summer things even though it is starting to get chilly outside. And I finally got one thing checked from my summer bucket list. An outside movie at Mattolaituri!

Every Monday at summer time Mattolaituri (An outside restaurant in Helsinki) has an outside movie night showing some classic films. Its usually packed with people and you need to be at least an hour before the movie starts to get a good seat. I´ve been planning to go there the whole summer (and even last summer..), but I never managed to get there! But this Monday I finally made some solid plans with my bestie to go there, she had never been there either so it was now or never.

We got there maybe 45min before the movie started, and got so good seats right in front of the screen! The classic film of the day was Forrest Gump.

We had some white wine, soda, popcorn ofc, candy and some warm chocolate because it was really chilly outside.

I am happy we left this experience at the end of the summer, because it was not as packed as it always is in the warm summer nights and the movie was excellent. Who doesn´t love Forrest Gump?

Today I got to be an proud big sister! It was my little sisters confirmation party. Feels so unreal, because I still feel like she´s the 7 year old girl who just started school. Time goes by so fast.

We had a lovely time with family and friends, and so many people came.

We had some lovely food we served, some fresh salad with mozzarella and strawberries, a quiche with ham, some spring rolls, a looovely lemon-lime cheese cake and I made my bravura, mud cake! Been making this kinda cake for so many years. Even though I´ve been changing with different recipes but it just never disappoints. I got this really awesome recipe from my colleague and its probably the best one yet..

But yeah what a Saturday, we are so exhausted right now! Noel just fell a sleep straight away we came back home.

Thank you everyone who came and celebrated my little sister with us, you mean the world to us.

Ps. This jumpsuit is the best buy I made in Copenhagen!! But my shoes i wore were killing me.. Had to have like 6 band-aids on my feet. I hate heels, i am a sneaker kinda girl. There is an old saying in Finnish "Kauneuden eteen täytyy kärsiä." meaning that no beauty without pain. Today I really felt that saying...

So August is almost over, and I´ve done nothing! Just working and sleeping. This summer just went by so fast.

I´m actually waiting for autumn to begin. I love summer, but every summer I get so much pressure to everyday do something and enjoy the summer weather and so on.. And Instagram is always so full of other people doing something 24/7, and here I am feeling guilty for not wanting to do anything.

But in autumn you can just sit inside with candle lights under a warm blanket read a book or watch Netflix.

Autumn I am waiting.

But while I am waiting for autumn to start here are some last summer day pictures.

Flow festival day ONE! Champagne before entering and sunshine. Could not complain. Even though Friday went a little too drunk...

So Saturday I was freaking hungover, and I had made plans to go to Linnanmäki (Amusement park in Helsinki..). I was sure I was going to die. But it was a fun day! I was with my sisters, and we enjoyed spending some time together.

Flow festival was my highlight this year. Lana del Rey, Flume, Moderat, The XX, Gasellit and so many more artists. We looked like trash on Saturday with theese trashbags, the reason being there was a big storm in Helsinki (like a serious storm). The rain was so heavy that our rain jackets could not hold the rain. And the artists stopped for 3-4 h performing due to safety issues. So we just drank a lot of wine and enjoyed our friends company. At 22.30 Alma started, and to my luck none of the artist I wanted to see had been cancelled! Saturday was the highlight of the whole festival! What a fun memory.

So August has not been a smoothie bowl month.. But the ones I have made are black currant, blueberry, mint and coconut. Freeeeeshh.

Now I´m just waiting for September to start.

Copenhagen

Hi.
Its been a while, again... I was supposed to do this post a week ago already, but some shit happened and I just forgot about all this.
But here it finally is! A small post about Copenhagen!
So we were in Copenhagen for about 5 days with my friend. So much fun, good food, lots of shopping and good times. I managed to use almost so much money in just 5 days.. Shopaholic much?
So we booked a "hotel" near the Tivoli, it was one of the cheapest we could find. Under 500€ for 4 nights. It was on good location, breakfast included, own bathroom and a small balcony. Copenhagen is as expensive as Helsinki (if not even more..), so save up some money if you want to enjoy your trip.

So for the most parts we were just strolling around and shopping. There are so many small boutiques, and the variety is so much bigger than here in Helsinki. Sightseeing is also easy, if you are under 26 years old many sights are free. For example the Design museum in the city center is a rainy day savior.

There are many sightseeing towers i the city, and we were suprised that some are free. For example the Christiansborg castle tower is free entrance, and you get a nice view of the whole city. Rundetårn is also a good place to visit, and it was very cheap as well.
On the first day we arrived early in the morning so we had time to kill before we could check in. So we ate some breakfast in the high class area, Nyhavn. It was a beautiful morning so we did what any tourist would do, a sight seeing boat tour. We got to know the city better, and got lots of tips on what to do and see.

On the second day we strolled to the district of Nørrebro, around 3 km from our hotel. I had been following a restaurant for a while on Instagram called Grød. They make these delicious porridge dishes! It was poring rain, and we still decided to walk there.. But it was so worth it!! The porridge was so delicious. Definitely worth a visit.

Other places worth a visit are definitely the area of Christianshavn and Christiania. For those who do not know about Christiania, "Christiania, also known as Freetown Christiania is a self-proclaimed autonmus neighborhood of about 850 residents. It was temporarily closed by residents in April 2011 while discussions continued with the Danish government about its future, but then re-opened to the public.

Christiania has been a source of controversy since its creation in a squatted military area in 1971. Its cannabis trade was tolerated by authorities until 2004. In the years following 2004, measures for normalizing the legal status of the community led to conflicts, police raids and negotiations" (taken from wikipedia). Remember not to photograph in Christiania.

Christianshavn is a beautiful area in Copenhagen with expensive apartments, some of the worlds best restaurants (for example Noma) and just a lovely Amsterdam canal like feeling. Go to Copenhagen street food for some good food and fresh drinks, in an laid back atmosphere! The city has new plans for the next year for the area so be quick!

I have so many places I still want to visit in this lovely city and cannot wait to get back.

Just a couple of more recommendations!

Madklubben Vesterbro was lit! I took a 3 course dinner with wine pairings (including sparkling wine to start with), and an Whiskey sour cocktail and the whole package was around 90€! So cheap.

Atelier September is a cute little cafe in city center. This was on my must try list. We had a small lunch there, and they had the loveliest blackcurrant lemonade. YUM.

Cocks and cows, best burgers in town and fresh cocktails.

42raw if you are into some seriously delicious acai and matcha bowls. They even have some awesome pancakes.

Eating 24/7

So I just arrived from Copenhagen a couple of nights ago. Had a lovely 5 day trip with my a friend, even though it rained 2,5/5 days it was still an awesome city and I cannot wait to get back. Anyways I am going to make an own post about that. I have about 500pics from my trip so lots of pictures on the way!

For the past few weeks i have been doing a lot of eating.. And i am not even kidding! Looking at my pictures on my phone, there is only food pictures (and some bottles of alcohol, whoopsie).

Last weekend my mom and my lil sis was in town (they live in Dublin so I rarely see them), we went to the Cock for a quick lunch with my grandmother, my Finnish lil sis and then my Irish family (so mom and lil sis). We also stopped by in Chapter for a quick drink. My Finnish lil sis had plans to meet an old friend whom I also know, so I decided to join them. Their plan was to go to a park and drink some wine, for me that sounded like a wonderful idea. Well it was not just a little of wine.. She had a 3 liter of Riesling with her.. Well the "chill" night continued to Rymy Eetu (A bar that is known for people dancing on the tables..). And oh my the hangover the next day.. Oh god. Mom called at 11am and wanted me to join for a nice day trip to Suomenlinna. I declined. 😅

The next week we had a sister meeting. I rarely see all of my sisters. I have one sister whom I see more often, two that are my older sisters (one living in Rovaniemi, and the other living in Espoo), and then I have three smaller (two living in Grani and one living in Dublin). But this meeting was with the four older ones. I had not seen them in such a long time and this was a rare opportunity for the date to match all of ours calendars. We went for a nice dinner at Holiday bar, and all of us tried the Poke bowl. For me it was nothing special but at least I got nice pictures!

All these pictures are making me hungry, so i am going to go for lunch to Juuri with an old colleague of mine. See you later!

Last week both me and Noel turned 24. And we got to celebrate it with so many people we love!

My birthday was on Wednesday, we had a lovely chill night together after work. Some cocktails and food, then a relaxing sauna and a good night sleep. I got the loveliest present from Noel! I have been drooling over Furla bags for about a year now, and hinting to Noel that a bag would be a perfect birthday present. Every time I showed him a new bag he always just ignored and said that I am not getting a bag. So I kinda just let it be then. BUT the whole time he had just been fooling me so that I would be surprised when I get the gift. He had actually been looking for months already for the perfect bag. And when I got to open my present I was so surprised and extremely happy with my present! 💗Just a black simple bag with lovely gold chains. Fits with everything.

So on Friday it was Noels turn to get old. He had work so early wake up for him.

Noel had actually gotten his gift in advance. An Samsung galaxy s8. Its so good! Even i am thinking of getting one!

But anyways on Friday we had the big party to celebrate us both. We had reserved the kabinett at Roster Helsinki for around 12 people. We had a lovely 4 course dinner, with some white fish "Kokonda" and white asparagus with basil as starters. The main was a Black Angus steak, and as dessert white chocolate pannacotta. YUM. Ofc. there was enough wine and other drinks in very good company. The party continued with some cocktails and an after party at our house. No we are not too old for after parties!! 😂 But I can tell you guys.. Next day at work was hell..

But all an all it was an success! Thank you all who came and celebrated us. We love you guys 💗

So for the past few weeks its been hectic.

First weekend of July we celebrated our first engagement anniversary with Noel. We had such a epic weekend! Friday started with some work, cocktails at Chapter and some homemade pizza. Just a nice chill night.

Saturday we made avo toast as breakfast with some Mimosas (And I even got some pink roses!!). Then we had a lovely dinner at Penny and continued the night at Blockfest Helsinki with The Weekends gig!! It was so awesome!
Sunday then again was spent with colleagues from work. Funny day with some important info, then some fun and games. The night continued to restaurant Hieta and champagne in Löyly.
What a weekend.

Last week has been as fun as the weekend before, with my birthday on Wednesday and Noels on Friday! Both turning 24. And we got to celebrate it with so many people we love. But more about that later on!

Busy weeks behind

Hi!
Sorry for the long pause in writing.

Oh my how busy i have been for the past few weeks. I am so exhausted! Work has almost been killing me (no need to go to any gym anytime soon!). Soon its juhannus, juhannus is mid summer and here in Finland we celebrate it by usually going away from the cities and go to our summer cottages. We swim, grill, go to sauna, drink a lot and make a bonfire!
We are staying in Helsinki for the first time ever over Juhannus! The plan on Friday is to eat and drink at a friends house, maybe go out after that but we`ll see. Saturday we have tickets to a juhannus festival on the island Lonna. I am hoping it will be an awesome chill day. And Sunday we are definetely going to Ääniwalli for some Sunday VUM (my summer highlight is to go there! VUM is an outside like DJ gig? Its so awesome.). Noel is off on Monday so we finally get to go there.
Two more rough work days then i am 3 days off.

Tomato soup

Still sick at home, but yesterday I decided to do some comfort food. Made this delicious tomato soup! It´s the first time I ever made tomato soup (I actually don´t usually cook..).

I found the recipe just after searching on the web for a minute or so and decided to share it here!

Ingredients:

4 x tomatoes

1 x red paprika

1 x chili

1 x onion

2 x garlic cloves (i put 3 because we looooove garlic!)

500g mash tomatoes

140g tomato pure

6dl water

75g cream cheese (I used garlic&herbs flavored cream cheese)

Vegetable stock cube

Salt&pepper

Paprika spice

Oil

- Chop the onion, tomatoes, paprika & chili. Press the garlic

- Fry the onion and garlic in a pot with oil.

- Add the tomatoes, paprika, mashed tomatoes, tomato pure, water and vegetable stock.

- Season and let it sit on low temperature for about 30min

- Add the cream cheese and let it melt in

- Mash the soup with a mixer.

I served it with some creme fraîche, but cottage cheese and fresh herbs would work as well!

So the flu never went away, and here I am sick in bed. Again.
But the fifth season of House of Cards just came on Netflix! So for me its going to be Netflix and chill for a couple of days, and i am okay with that.

Its finally Sunday, my favorite day of the week (if i´m of work, but if i´m working its my least favorite day of the week..).

This weekend went mostly in bed, been sick since Wednesday. But we have still managed to do other than just sleep!

We went to IKEA on Wednesday and got some really needed stuff home, and yesterday we finally got the new dresser in place (or Noel did)! Been waiting for this since we moved (we are not the quickest to get stuff done🙊) and I am sooooo happy with the new look!

On Saturday we decided to make a lovely breakfast! Some avotoast, berry smoothie and coffee! Just like the breakfast we had everyday in Bali. Made me miss it even more.. Hopefully we will bee there soon again.. But I am so happy that the sun is out in Helsinki, it makes it a little bit easier to be here.

Today was a beautiful day in Helsinki! I met my grandmother in the city center and we enjoyed some cappuccinos, cinnamon buns and sparkling wine outside on a terrace! It was my birthday gift to her and she really loved it. After we went for a small stroll in Helsinki. Should do this more often. My grandmother is one of the most strongest people I know and such a role model.

Later I saw my best friend and we enjoyed some huge ice cream outside, because what would a sunny Sunday be without ice cream!

Summer bowl

On Friday I made this super yummy smoothie bowl, with lots of berries and fresh flavor.

Ingredients:

Mixed frozen berries (I used strawberry, blueberry and redcurrant)
Frozen bananas
Chia seeds
Coconut milk
Apple juice (to give a small sweetness to it)

Mix everything in e blender. Be careful that it doesn´t get to runny. It needs to be quite thick so that the toppings stay on.

To top it:

Granola
Fresh strawberries
Frozen raspberries
Chia seeds

What a beautiful weekend! Sun was shining all day, and it was actually warm outside. To bad I was working the whole weekend, but I still had some time to enjoy the summer weather.
