'Twas a chilly night in the Bull back room, when the four of us gathered to........Rehearse!! An unheard of accurance for The Bone, but we though it was about time we had a few new numbers...and what goodies they are as well.

First up we have 'Further on up the road'. a pretty standard swing affair with a boogie back line. Followed by 'Key to the Highway', but not as you've ever heard it. We've slowed it down and given it a syncapated, dirty feel...oh yes we can use clever musical terms as well you know! Then the climax, 'The Very Thing', a real funk breakdown. We are very happy with the new trio and we hope you will be too.

These numbers will be reveled on Friday the 19th at The Bull, yes folks thats the next BCB gig. Fully electric for your delectation and delight....It would be superb to see you there. Things are a moving on, and we are loving it!

To the land of The Lion...once more a hearty welcome and a great gig. The new songs went down a storm and if they sound ok at this weeks rehearsal then they will be making an appearance in the full Electric set.

A nice little set at the River Lodge last night. We were supposed to do 25 minutes and ended up doing an hour! Now the bands have been moved into the central room it has more of a club feeling and is a great space to play. Plenty of other areas in the pub for those that don't appreciate the music as well.

Lauren is aiming for big things at The River Lodge, and we in The Bone fully support her efforts. If you can get down there for one of the music nights you won't be dissapointed. There are some great bands coming up over the next few months and you couldn't find a nicer venue to play in.

Next year is now filling up nicely for The Bone, with a good mix of electric and acoustic gigs. Take a look on the gigs page for more details.

Excellent gig on Friday evening at The Bull, and a fist for The Bone, we web streamed the whole gig. Thanks to those of you (and there were a few) who tuned in, hoped you enjoyed it.

The whole gig is now available on our Toons page as individual tracks, so if you don't like one you're bound to enjoy the next.

Also thanks to Amy who came up and sang Stormy Monday, what a superb voice (shame she's already in another band, Indigo). You can catch her performance on our toons page.

Well been a bit quiet on the western front lately, but it has been for a reason.....

BCB have started work on the new album (about bloody time I hear you say). Recording started this week at Canterbury Grove studios (OK Matts house and my house) on the first track, Candyman.

You can listen to this right now here and then insult us in the comments.

Now onto the rest of, what will be, BCBs first acoustic album.

Well a busy weekend goes by with The Bone appearing twice, 2 very different venues...both excellent.

The Fleece, Chemlsford.
Dropping in at the last minute, The Fleece is a new venue for us, but what a great venue it is. PA already there so minimal gear lugging (which is nice), so set up and ready in record time. There were a couple of acts on before us. Ritchie le Vens, a solo bass player who uses an array of electronic doohikery to layer and loop his sound, interesting to say the least. Next up was Matt Herbert, a really nice guy and damn good guitarist and singer. If you get the chance to catch him I heartily recommend it. He played some superb 12 string blues, and also a Starship cover (less said and all that).

Then it was our turn. A rocking night was in order and so we went to it.....not much more to say really. We really enjoyed ourselves, as did the audience and we would be more than happy to head into Chelmsford again.

Noaks Hill Golf Club.
Well from the sublime to the ridiculous. We got to the venue with the rain beginning to come down. We were then told we were playing a gazebo out side the main building, not a good sign when the clouds are gathering. The rain stayed away though and we had a nice, chilled out evening of our more funky stuff. It's good to play quieter venues with the full band as it can really test your playing and dynamics, love it.

So a busy weekend, a rest now While Stu swans around France being all bohemian, then back at the coalface in August. Happy holidays.

The Bone have been called to action.

Due to a lack of bands at The Fleece in Chelmsford, we will be playing there on the 17th July, that's this Friday. A full evening of music is being laid on, two acoustic blues acts before us and then the full electric Bone.

nothing like stepping in at the last minute!!

Pictures from Tuesdays Stripped to The Bone gig are now available on from the pics page, expertly taken by Shane Lawrence.

A fab night at The Bull trying out the new format, which is really bedding in now. We have no idea what we are doing, but it seems to work and the people there really enjoyed it. That's the nice thing about playing in The Bone, it's organised chaos, no song is ever played the same twice, but the sound is just so good (even if I say so myself).

Onto the Riverlodge in Colchester on Friday 26th, early start (8:30pm) and it's the full Bone, so much noise and fun to be had.

Black Cat Bone have been playing at the Bull from the very first day we started to have live music. The band offer a very infectious upbeat sound that blends the upbeat blues rythyms with a touch of rock overtones which never ceases to get a crowds feet moving to the beat.
Over the last 2 years that they have played at The Bull they have always a high energy set and brought their blues to masses and in many ways changed peoples view of what they have come to expect from a blues band.

Pat, Stuart, Lee and Matt have a very tight sound which grows on you and leaves wanting more.

Always look forward to seeing them play at the Bull.

The Bull, Friday - Another rocking night at The Bull, enjoyed by all.

5 Bells, Saturday - A nice intimate evening where we outed some of the new acoustic material. A great crowd at the 5 Bells, thanks to the "following" who turned up (some of which had seen us the night before, nutters)

The Lion, Stripped to the Bone

Well what a great little pub for acoustic music. Set in the picturesque little village of Thebeston, The Lion is a lovely place.

Almost full when we arrived, setting up was a breeze and away we went. A great crowd that were really into the acoustic sound, and (as we were told) thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Although it's a little disconcerting when one is told at the end that the place was full of other musicians, glad we weren't told at the start ;-)

We hope they will have us back again soon.

The Ferry Boat

A good gig at The Ferry Boat on Friday, a tough crowd but we pulled them round. I think they were more expecting a general covers band than a pure blues band, not many sing along songs in our set ;-)

But after much concerted effort we had them shouting for more at the end...an experience to be sure.

Spring Cleaning

Well, a new year and time for a spring clean.

As you can see the site has had a bit of a redesign, hope you like it...if not let me know why in the comments.

Also a new venture for The Bone, we are now going out with a new acoustic set. After a great night at The Mersea Yacht Club, and some very nice comments, we have decided to make it a permanent feature. Our next acoustic outing is this Sunday, details on the gig guide.
