Blogging is a great way to share your thoughts with others and spread information to readers. The fun part about it, is that you can blog about anything you want! The topic choice is all up to you. Of course that doesn't mean just because you blog about "Cool New Socks" that everyone will want to read about it, but still it is your choice. Whether you are blogging just because you want to share information or you are doing it to create a profit and deliver good content to your readers, the basics still apply to both.

I wanted to create a list of basic tips for bloggers who are just starting, or even haven't started at all but are interested. So let's get on with the basic bloggin tips for beginners.

1. First of course you need to find a service to start blogging with. The two most popular services are Blogger and WordPress. Both are great websites to use (I will create a post in the future about the differences), but the big difference is that Blogger provides AdSense integration and is very user friendly. So this is great for someone who knows nothing about blogging and wants to be able to make money with their blog. WordPress.com blogs are great but they do not have the ability to use advertisements. So choose either "profit" or "no profit".

2. Choose your topic. Once again, the topic choice is yours but if you are looking to get a lot of readers, then you will want something that attracts visitors to your blog. Choose a niche that you have and can share with others. Something you are passionate about will show greatly to your readers and will make your blog more personal and interesting. You do not want to choose a topic that you know nothing about because you will not be able to create useful posts and the blog will seem boring.

3. Create a good title and description. This is a very important step because you want your title to stand out. Keep it short and simple. Your description is very crucial because this is what visitors will first see when arriving at your blog and it is what search engines will show. Keep your description within the character limit. Do not overdo it and explain your site in huge detail so that everything is given away and your readers are left not curious. Be short but descriptive and use proper grammar. A blog with a long description scares me away usually, because it seems like the author is begging me to read it all.

4. Choosing a good layout. The layout of your blog is very important because it is the shell of it all and it is what readers always see. A visual impact is important when creating a blog. You do not want to have a layout with bright neon colors everywhere so that it blinds the reader. Try to keep the color scheme blended well so that it pleases the reader's eyes and does not drive them away. Images are great to have so that your blog seems more full and less boring. It gives people something to look at along with the text. So simple, clean, and uncluttered is definitely the way to go when choosing your layout. 5. Content. As always content is king. Publishing great posts is easy if you take your time, be descriptive and creative, and provide interesting content. Posts that take forever to read, can scare away readers because most have a short reading span. So don't bore your readers with a 5 page story, unless it is necessary and part of your niche.

6. Attract visitors to your blog. This can be the most frustrating part of it all because you spend all that time making posts but do not see anyone reading or subscribing. It is not an easy task to gather up thousands of readers, daily, or even monthly. Be sure to spread the word about your blog without spamming it. Include your blog URL in forum signatures, participate in discussions at other blogs, use Twitter and Facebook, use content sharing websites, and research SEO. Google page rank is determined by a number of factors:

Having original content on your site is a no-brainer. It is the "why" that escapes many SEO web content developers. We have all seen the ads promising "150000 AdSense and SEO optimized pages". If it were this easy, all of us would be multi-millionaires by now. The reality is, Googlebot applies a penalty for non-original content, no mater how SEO you might think the page is. Think about it - why does "Nike.com" come up number 1 when you type Nike into Google? You or I could probably write a better SEO page about Nike than Nike.com. In fact, Nike.com keyword density for "Nike" is 0%!!!

Links from External Sites

Google take into account the number of links you have from external sites. Each link is like a "vote" for your site. Before you go and sign up for a link exchange program, consider this, some links do not count, in fact, being a "link spammer" can kill your ranking, no matter how good your SEO.

There are ways to generate quality back links:

Create a blog on blogspot.com (a Google Site) and write about your web page - include properly formatted links

The site is subdivided in to many SEO optimized sub-domains each with a URL that denotes the sections. For example, all my SEO articles are in a sub-directory called ../seo.

Google is the largest search engine (for now) and getting your SEO right for the Googlebot can make your site top ten site getting millions of hits a day. On the other hand, poor SEO and your site may never be ranked and your campaigns for Adsence will never net you any real money. Building Backlink Method

After many mistakes regarding my internet marketing strategies, I finally learned how to master the search engines.

I searched all over the internet, and read hours on SEO forums on how to optimize my website and how to get a good ranking. But soon I discovered that the "so called" gurus were just talking BS, and after following their advices, one of my websites got in the Google sandbox.

I learned that posting thousands of links in a day will maybe get you a temporary good ranking, but when you stop posting, your site will soon drop. That is because Google think that your site is going to get a lot of backlinks all the time, and when that's not happening Google will just forget about your site. Anyway, who's got the time and will to post thousands of links every day?

Then I fell for the "do follow" link building strategy. I spent many weeks commenting on only do follow blogs and directories, and in the beginning I got really nice results, but then my site suddenly started to fall in the search engines ranking. First I didn't know what to do, I then started to waste my time on forums and expert blogs. Then I found a little article about the importance of link diversify.

I started to add some "no follow" backlinks to my site and after a little time my site started to climbing back to the first page again. So don't fall for the "do follow" nonsense, "do follow" and "no follow" is not really important when it comes to ranking, but if you only got "do follow" backlinks, Google will think that you are a spammer and then they will slap you in your face.

During my "do follow" blog commenting time, I posted on many of the blog network blogs. First I didn't realize that many of the blogs on WordPress.com, blogspot.com, blog.co.uk etc share the same IP. So if you post on many blogs that share the same IP, the backlinks will lose it importance. It is better to post on say 50 blogs with 50 different IPs than to post on 200 blogs with 20 different IPs.

But the big question is, how do you find where to post your links? A very good way is to create forum profile backlinks. There is many forums with high pr, and you can get free quality backlinks on many of those. But how do you find free backlinks?

Well, you can buy expensive softwares that scrape the net for you or you can learn how to get backlinks [http://linkbuilderteam.com]. Remember, when you start building your backlinks, get 3 different keywords. Use your main keyword 60% of the time. Don't leave unnecessary footprints.

People struggle to get traffic online, there's no doubt about that. So today, because I know how difficult it can be to get traffic to your website, I am going to spill the beans and lay it out very simple for you.

Traffic is easy to get!

If you want to get traffic, start posting ads, and start writing your ads properly. Don't only give your viewer one way to contact you. Have at least a phone number and email address. Also a computer with Internet.

Driving traffic with a magnetic ad could be one of the easiest ways to get your product or service noticed. By simply telling your viewer what you offer, and providing a phone number you are acting as a magnet. Your traffic is like metal coming right at you. You goal is to take that metal or that traffic and convert it, into $ and new friends or networkers.

Other ways you can generate tons of traffic is by offering free merchandise. Tell your prospects that with every $100 they spend you will reward them with a $5 gift card to a local restaurant. Bloggers: Should You Use Blogger.com or WordPress?

Blogger.com (also known as Blogspot) and WordPress are the two most commonly used blogging platforms today. Blogger.com was a pioneer in the blogging industry, allowing users to set up accounts and blog for free beginning in 1999. Blogger.com was purchased by Google in 2003, which enabled it to grow using Google's resources. Today, Blogger.com has an undisclosed number of millions of users blogging on their system.

WordPress began in 2003 as the successor to another (now relatively unknown) blogging system. It has since become the blog platform of choice for most blogging professionals. There are currently over two million people who are active users of WordPress.com, and there are millions of others who have downloaded various versions of the WordPress code.

Using the Blogger setup mandates that your blog be hosted on their servers. In comparison, blogs running on WordPress' platform can be hosted at WordPress.com, or the WordPress software can be downloaded and used on your choice of web hosts. Who Uses Which
A quick perusal of a few the various blogs running on the Blogspot.com domain versus those that use one of the WordPress setups (accounts on WordPress.com and self-hosted blogs using WordPress software) indicates that Blogspot.com is more commonly used for people who blog about their families, pets, and other personal kinds of topics. Compared to WordPress users, Blogger.com users are typically not "professional" bloggers, although there are plenty of Common Joe bloggers who monetize their Blogspot blogs and make a living doing it.

Self-hosted WordPress blogs lean more toward professional entities who have an IT person or department who handles their maintenance. They are often more formal. Because WordPress.com is similar in its functionality to Blogger.com, blogs using WordPress.com are similar to Blogger blogs in content, naturally more casual or personal than self-hosted WordPress blogs.

Cost
Blogspot accounts are free. So are accounts on WordPress.com. Flexibility
Because WordPress is open source software, it gives experienced bloggers much more flexibility when it comes to customizing a blog. When you download and install WordPress, you have full access to the database and the PHP, CSS, and image files that comprise the WordPress blogging platform. In contrast to Blogger's platform, having development access to the entire system allows users to be as creative as they want to be. This flexibility does not exist to nearly the extent with accounts that are hosted on WordPress.com. One bonus that WordPress.com does provide is the ability to host files other than simply images. MS PowerPoint files, Word (.doc) and Open Office (.odt) word processing files, and PDF files can be uploaded and stored for use on a WordPress.com account.

Although Blogger allows and encourages users of their setup to customize their blogs adding Google gadgets and changing layouts, I've found that there is a lot of guesswork involved when trying to figure out how to manipulate their XML schema, which is used to customize templates beyond adding gadgets and changing layouts. When I customize blogs hosted on Blogger's system, I often feel like I'm abstracted from their lower level setup. Some of Blogger's XML tags are documented, but that documentation is sparse. When I'm customizing a Blogspot blog, it's as if I'm throwing my work over a wall, and then checking to see what I get back. This interface can be frustrating.

A comparison that is noteworthy between each of these blog platforms is the ability to categorize posts. Greater flexibility exists with both WordPress.com-hosted blogs and self-hosted ones using the WordPress software than with Blogger.com. Categories are created using Labels on Blogger.com blogs. This setup does not allow for sub-categories on Blogger account. Sub-categories are a natural part of both WordPress.com and self-hosted WordPress blogs.

Ease of Use
For the layman blogger, getting started with blogging on Blogger's platform is the simplest of tasks. You simply create an account, choose a template, and start writing away. The interface is very straight forward for users of Blogger. WordPress.com are similar, slightly more complicated. WordPress self-hosted blogs require a user to download the software, upload it to a server, configure database settings, and run the installation program included with the software. This process is pretty straightforward for someone with IT experience, but for most other people it is a little intimidating.

Once a blog is setup with any of these platforms, using it is simple enough regardless of which one you choose. However, of all the interfaces, Blogger.com is probably the easiest to understand and navigate.

Security and Updates
WordPress has had a history of vulnerability to hacks. To minimize that risk, it is recommended that users of WordPress be vigilant about maintaining their sites. Specifically, WordPress blog owners hosting their own blogs are encouraged to keep up with current updates.

Blogger users can essentially allow the Blogger development team to worry about hacks. Because the blog data is kept on Blogger's servers, there is much less likelihood that Blogger sites can be hacked.

Which One's Best for Me
If your intentions are simply to publish your information to the world without hassling with intense customization and continuing updates, Blogger.com is the way to go. Because most run-of-the-mill bloggers fit into this category, Blogger has the largest number (although nobody knows how many that is) of blogs in the Internet today.

If you have the resources and desire to be more sophisticated in your blogging habits, WordPress is what you should use. Accessibility to the inner workings of WordPress allows it to be used for much more than just a simple online journal. So, you have a blog! Do you have traffic? Do you know how to build traffic to your weblog? There are seven proven methods for building readership of your blog. They start with defining the purpose, or life, of your blog. Then, after you have a blog worth promoting, driving traffic is crucial to your ongoing success at blogging.

Here are seven tips to help you build and hold an audience for your blog:

Tip #1: Provide quality content.

On the Internet, whether you are talking about websites or blogs, a lot of space is given to content. Everyone directs you to provide quality content. But, what is quality content? The quality of your blog's content is directly related to how well you have defined your ideal audience.

A successful blog is written with a distinct audience in mind. In this way, you can provide content that is unique to your audience's issues, needs, or desires. If you create content they like and wish to return to read, you have quality content.

The second issue is to stay true to your audience and tone of your blog. If people are reading your blog, it's because they like your topic and tone. Try not to stray from your typical topics and style too much. This will give your readers a reason to link back to your blog on an ongoing basis, as will posting on a regular basis.

Tip #2: Blog regularly

If you don't update your blog often enough, blog readers will move on to other blogs. There are too many blogs out there competing for attention. Blog readers will go where they can get enough of what they want.

Successful blogging takes a commitment of your time. When you begin blogging and wish to capture an audience, you should be prepared to blog every day. In this way, you can develop an audience who counts on you to help them begin or end their day.

This means you should also try to post at the same time each day. Your readers will get accustomed to your schedule and check your blog at the appropriate time. The time of day is not as crucial as the consistency in your posting.

When you post, make sure you set your blog to "ping" blog tracking sites every time you add a new post. Think of this as a means to get their attention. The ping says "Hey, we just added a new post". An alternative to automatically pinging from your blog is to use pingomatic.com. This is a one-stop place to automatically ping everyone you should notify of your new post and only takes a couple of minutes to accomplish.

Tip #3: Mention your blog wherever you can

Mention your blog's address in your email signature line, in forums where you post, on your business cards, on address labels and in conversations with anyone you meet. Use a tag line under your blog address to further entice them to visit. Mine reads:

Almost every comment option on someone else's blog will allow you to post your blog URL and your email address. Help other bloggers out with traffic and they will help you.

If a blogger really likes your site, they will add you to their blogroll. A blogroll is generally found on every blog which understands linking to the rest of the blogosphere helps drive traffic. A blogroll is a listing of other blogs. Think of it as a "recommended reading list". Don't be stingy with your blog roll either. Add those blogs that you read and enjoy to your blogroll too.

Tip #5: Think keywords when you post

Think about keywords with your use of titles, links and blog posts. Search engines, like Google and Yahoo, like keywords. The more targeted your keywords, the better the chances of your blog appearing in search results. Search results can drive that extra traffic you want.

To increase the value of the key words in your content, make certain keywords are part of the hot link in your posts. Don't use "click here" as the hot link. You will be wasting valuable real estate in your post. Instead use the relevant keywords for the hot link, like "a great marketing idea. This gives the keywords added emphasis with the search engines.

One last thought on keywords for driving traffic; if you want a real leg up in the traffic game, in your linking code add rel="tag". This helps Technorati, a major blog resource, index your blog for their directory. But don't stop there! It's time to submit your blog to blog directories.

Tip #6: Submit your blog to blog directories

In addition to submitting your blog to the major search engines, make certain you submit the blog to exclusively blog directories like blogwise, blogcatalog, or bloghub. Many people find blogs through these online directories.

When you do submit your blog to these directories, remember to add a description that will entice your targeted audience to check your blog out. For instance, when I post my blog in blog directories, under description I put "General musings, rants, advice and strategies from a battle-worn veteran of the Marketing Wars, online and off". Your description should help the potential reader understand your blogging topic and the flavor of how you write.

In addition to submitting your blog to blog directories, join a few of the free or inexpensive traffic exchange sites like blogexplosion or blogclicker.

Tip #7: Use free and inexpensive blog traffic exchange communities

There are many sites which can be termed "traffic exchange" sites for the blogging community. It won't cost you anything to sign up. At the very least, join blogexplosion, blogclicker, and blogazoo. Once you sign up, you have two options to help drive traffic to your blog. Use both of them!

The first method is to earn credits (guaranteed visitors to your site) by using the "surf member sites" function. As you surf through those sites, you will be earning credits (visitors to your blog). When you find an interesting post, leave a comment as discussed above. When you find a blogger you like, add them to your blogroll and let them know you did.

The second method to drive traffic is to purchase credits. The cost is very cheap for the traffic you will drive to your blog. The more traffic to your blog, the more customers you'll have. The more happy customers you have, the more they will tell others. The more they tell others, the more customers you get. Don't you love this dance!

In summary, blogging may not be for everyone. However, it can be a great method for bringing your unique perspective to the Internet. You will surely find others who think the same way you do. How to Spam with Blogs: A Tutorial for Every Wanna-be SEO

I love blogs and blogging, but with all good things, especially those online, it comes with a whole new host of problems. Search engines love blogs and therefore so do spammers. Spammers love blogs only because blog spamming techniques work, thanks to the search engines and bloggers themselves.

Last year Google introduced the "nofollow" attribute for links. Using this attribute on a link is supposed to inoculate the linking site from any negative association to the site being linked to. It's to be used when you are not in control of the link being posted (as in blog comments) or when you don't want your link to a site to be considered as you "vouching" for that site in the eyes of the search engines. I think the most accurate description of the "nofollow" attribute is that it's a link condom.

The nofollow was merely a band aid fix to one kind of blog spam, but not a solution to the real problem. But since there is not just one kind of blog spam there is no single solution either.

Blog Comment Spam:

Every now and then I get inundated with comment spam to my blog. These comments are usually posted by automated programs that put a short message in your comments that reads something like, "I like your site, lots of good info. Check these out...", followed by about 5-50 links to their websites.

You like my site? Really? Oh, wait... hehe, you almost had me there!

Thanks to my blog software, the nofollow tag is automatically added to all links in the comments. So even if I didn't have the moderation feature turned on requiring me to approve all comments before they post, the link itself will not be of value in the eyes of the search engine. And obviously it's of no value to the reader, either.

But I always assumed that most bloggers would be like me and have some sort of comment approval policy in place. But then I forget, there are a lot of people running blogs for personal stuff and they simply don't understand the whole spamming thing. So blog spammers take advantage of the ignorance of these bloggers and blast them with junk comments. And if their blogging software doesn't use the nofollow tag in links then they just got themselves a link that some search engines (coughMSNcoughYahoo!cough) would record as valuable.

There are two possible solutions here. 1) all bloggers stop allowing comments without approving them. This is unlikely to happen. 2) Search engines find a way to devalue all comment links in any blog whatsoever. This will be unfair to legitimate commenter, but as often happens, the many suffer for the ill-conceived actions of a few.

Scraper Spam Blogs

There are many sites and blogs that are nothing more than a regurgitation of someone else's content. Some are providing a valuable service by being a news distribution source, but many others are not.

The legitimate ones publish free to re-publish articles from article banks on their site and keep the author info and bio (and links) in place. They also often republish press releases which are also in the common domain. For these types of sites there is nothing illegal being done. I don't have problem with these types of sites because they do provide a way for articles such as this to reach a wider audience, a better site is one that takes this information and adds their own comments and reviews. This is providing a real service to their readers by giving their own opinion, not just the regurgitation of others.

But there are a great many blogs and scraper sites out there that steal content and don't give proper attribution. They either republish a summary of articles (sometimes linking to the source, sometimes not) or publish the full article but remove the author and bio info. Still others run the article through a rewrite software program so they can publish "unique" content on their site, even though it's still stolen content.

I found one of these content thieves just the other day. They are a web hosting company that "re-published" my article, "Selecting a Web Host Provider that Meets Your Needs". They also forgot to keep my bio information that came with the article and also failed to attribute authorship. I've sent them one email and, lacking any sort of response, I will contact Google and their web host provider informing them that this site is stealing content in violation of copy write. The ISP will be obligated to pull the site down until they have corrected the breach.

Many of these kinds of sites often run ads provided by Google or Yahoo, or both in an effort to profit from some other person's hard work. In the case of the above, they are using my article to help sell their services.

To eliminate this kind of spam, these kinds of sites need to be found and removed from search engine indices AND the ad division of the search engines need to refuse to allow these sites to publish their ads. The former is more difficult from the latter, but upon finding such sites, I think search engines have an obligation to remove them.

Faux Information Blog Spam

This is one that I've noticed just recently. People setting up blogs at the free blog services such as blogger.com or blogspot.com, throwing up a post all about their site, and then creating multiple accounts so they can post comments that look like they come from others, or ask friends and family to post comments for them. All these comments somehow find ways to included links in back to the site which the blog is promoting. Neither the blog or it's "comments" contain any real relevant information. At best it's a commercial. At worst its Internet feces. (Yep, link condom used here.)

These kinds of spammers don't care how high their blog ranks for any particular keywords, but they use it to provide link value back to their own, or their client's website. With these free blogger services you can throw up dozens of these fake "on topic" blogs all with a link back.

The solution here relies solely in the hands of the search engines. It's up to them to discount all these types of blogs as well as their links. Unfortunately, the many search engines still seem to eat this stuff up as legitimate.

The problem with all blog spam is that it relies on SEO "tactics" that the search engines hate. Sometimes a nuisance, sometimes illegal and almost always results in more garbage on the Internet. There is nothing worse than having to wade through someone's garbage to find good quality information. But one thing is for sure, for as long as blog spam works, one man's garbage will continue to be a spammer's goldmine.

Second, on blank pages and Tell anything want you want to convey, remember! pages not same a blank box with posting blank box, that almost same, but if u want to edit your pages, u must go to same link (pages) and update or edit what you want to do.
