Suddenly I noticed that my laptop screen seems darker than usual.

I have to squint and strain my eyes just to read the text.

With some googling around I found that it was due to Windows 11 update.

I've managed to get the brightness back, here you go

1. Go to settings

2. Click on system -> display

3. Click the small down arrow within the brightness toggle control and uncheck the "Help improve battery by optimizing the content shown and brightness

4. The display might take a couple of seconds to readjust brighter automatically if you've set it to maximum brightness.

TP-Link AX6600 - Digi Home Fibre Setup Guide

I'm putting this up as a reminder for myself just in case I reset my router to factory settings.

If you've found this useful please let me know in the comments below.

Step 1.

Step 2.

Follow the quick setup wizard

i) Select your timezone

ii) Select the WAN port *default is 2.5G but makes no difference because here max is 800mbps

iii) Select PPPOE

iv) Key in your Digi Home Fibre username and password
***PRO tip***

Username is usually formatted like this "YourFullName@digi.home.tm"

Example aliahmad@digi.home.tm

Password is usually formatted like this "Digi123" or "Digi234" or "Digi345" and so on...etc

If you still have your installer handphone contact him and he could assist you. I know mine did.

Step 3.

THE MOST IMPORTANT STEP TO CONNECT SUCCESSFULLY

Click on the "Special ISP Settings IPTV/VLAN" word below your username and password

Select "Custom"

And key in

Internet VLAN ID: 629 <--- This is crucial or else no connection. The rest is just for fun.

Internet VLAN Priority: 0

802.1Q Tag Checked

VoIP VLAN ID: 2

VoIP VLAN Priority: 1

IPTV VLAN ID: 3

IPTV VLAN Priority: 2

IPTV Multicast VLAN ID: 1492

IPTV Multicast VLAN Priority:3

Enable IPTV Multicast VLAN Checked

LAN1: Internet

LAN2: Internet

LAN3: Internet

1G LAN: Internet

Then click Next

Step 4

Set your WIFI SSID and password

Step 5

Click next and wait for the router to save all the settings

If all is good you should be able to view the dashboard as below.

Optional step just to make sure telco is not ripping you off and you can actually obtain the bandwitdh you are paying for.

Visit https://st.digi.com.my and do a speed test

I decided to upload it because it was a long shot from what I expected to find from Google. Some of the information here is from community.digi.com.my such as the VLAN ID.

Hopefully, Digi or TP-Link could be more responsible to provide this type of easy guide in the future as this doesn't really require any advance technical skills just almost anyone who can understand English could do just as well.

If you ever bought a Huawei P20 Pro demo phone online and found out later that you couldn't use it because it has a demo video which kept on looping and sucking the battery out of your daily usage.

Here are some tips and tricks for you.

Step 1: Install ADB in your Windows PC / Laptop
(I will not elaborate further on this just google you can get some answers / how to's)

Step 2: Connect your phone to PC and enable USB Debugging
(You will need a couple of tries until you see a pop-up box on the phone asking for your permission to allow your connection to the PC)

Step 3: check if you have ADB access
Open the command prompt and enter the commands below
Make sure you change your directory to the ADB folder 1st.

Step 3.1: Type in "ADB devices -l" at the command prompt without the "
If you successfully connected you will get a prompt showing the device which is connected

Example:
List of devices attached
XXX0000000000000 device product:CLT-L29 model:CLT_L29 device:HWCLT

Step 4: After that go to Settings > Security & Privacy > Device administrators
Disable Retail mode & HwRetailAssistant

Step 5: Go back to ADB command prompt and type this 2 commands to remove the Demo Loop Video
1) "adb shell cmd package uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.retaildemo"
2) "adb shell cmd package uninstall -k --user 0 com.huawei.experience.ec"

If you get this error
Failure [DELETE_FAILED_DEVICE_POLICY_MANAGER]
Please refer to step Step 4 again and recheck make sure both of them are listed as "Inactive"

The demo should stop playing for now.

How to install Windows 10 on a Late 2013 MacBook Pro 13" Retina and getting macOS High Sierra updated.

I have been googling and trying different methods for the whole week.

Finally got it resolved and learned quite a bit.

Firstly this entry is just for my own future reference should I encounter and ever forget how to do it again.

I successfully applied this technique to a MacBook Pro 13" Retina of Late 2013 edition.

Steps below I have taken to successfully upgrade to macOS High Sierra and installed Windows 10 Pro via Bootcamp

p/s: The Mac OS recovery partition was still intact and had OS Maverick in it as factory default

1. Press the Option key during boot and enter the recovery partition of the MacBook Pro

2. Select Disk Utility and erase the whole partition (Yes you are going to lose everything, so backup as needed.)

3. Reinstall macOS from the recovery partition (Yes it will take some time maybe you can watch some Netflix or play a few rounds of PUBG)

3.1 - - - - Press the "About This Mac" to check and confirm if the version of your Mac is 10.9.5

4. After the clean reinstall, go to safari and google "macOS high sierra" it will automatically suggest you to App Store to get this update. (Key in your Apple ID here to get the update, and do something else when it is updating because it will also take quite a while)

5. After fully upgraded Press the "About This Mac" to check and confirm if the version of your Mac is 10.13.5 (This step is crucially important because there was one instance whereby I check the app store it showed that the macOS High Sierra have been installed but the "About This Mac" version was still showing 10.9.5 (Which in my case was OS Maverick)

6. Download the Windows 10 ISO from Microsoft's website I will leave a link here but maybe in the future it might be a broken link...Who knows right (ISO DOWNLOAD LINK)

7. Open Boot Camp Assistant and plug in any USB Pendrive which has a capacity 16GB and above

8. Tick all three options and press next to start the windows installation.

8.1 You will need to select the downloaded Windows 10 ISO file as per the on-screen instruction.
8.2 This will take a long time for both download of the windows support files and also Copying of the ISO files to the USB Pendrive.
8.3 At the end of this process you are required to choose how many partitions out of your macOS HDD you are assigning to Windows. (Windows 10 Recommended size is 55GB)

9. Your PC will automatically restart and windows installation will begin.

9.1 Some hiccups you will encounter include unable to install into the Bootcamp partition. just select format from the options below. and press next to proceed normally.
9.2 And you will be prompted to enter a windows product key. Enter it now or just press don't have a product key to enter it again later. Your installation can be continued regardless of product key availability.

10. Should you check your "about windows properties" and somehow unable to get Windows 10 activated, you can try this guide. They surely are working (Windows 10 Activation workaround)

11. You can now enjoy the best of both worlds just press the Option key and select the partition which you wish to boot into.

Summary

Old Mac ---> Format to Maverick
Maverick ---> Update to High Sierra
High Sierra ---> Boot Camp
Boot Camp ---> Win 10 ISO

Win 10 ISO ---> Win 10 Activation

How to remove Phonebooster from Android Smartphone. (Malware Solved, Version 1.1)

Got scammed to download an APK file thinking it was from a friend.

3 super difficult things you need to do first in order to remove it.

1. Enable Airplane Mode (The app will keep trying to autorun you need to reboot, if it is running you can't click anything on your phone)

2. If you've followed the Phonebooster app's instructions and enable it via the "accessibility" menu you need to quickly tap and turn it off. After you've successfully turned it off, you may turn off Airplane mode.
(I tried for like 30 minutes) it shows you only a flick of the page after checking the box you still need to click "OK" to turn it off.

3. Download Avast Mobile Security & Avast Cleanup (You can only download this after you've completed steps 1 & 2 on the above) the main app we are using is Avast Cleanup

Now for the easier 3 steps

Enter the android "Safe Mode" by clicking the power button, you will bring up the power menu. Which says power off, reboot, airplane mode....bla bla bla...

Click the "Power Off" with your physical power button at the same time to bring up the "Reboot into Safe Mode" menu. Click OK to enter "Safe Mode"

Once you've successfully entered "Safe Mode" (You can see the words "Safe Mode" on your phone screen)
Go to Settings -> Security -> Device Administrators ->
You may see 2 Device administrators, one which is preventing you from regularly uninstalling the Phonebooster app. Click on it and click deactivate, I find that clicking once doesn't work I clicked until it showed Phonebooster app has stopped working.

After the device administrator has been deactivated you can see that it is permanently gone.
Go to Avast Cleanup -> Advance cleaning -> Applications -> Select the Phonebooster app to remove it.

Finally, click the "Empty Trash" to complete the removal.

Hope this helps any of you out there. Just sharing my experience so that you can retain your valuable data, images, text, songs, videos, memories...

How to fix Playstore download error 400 or 403 (could not download from google play store due to error 400 or 403)

Method 1: The most common fix for most Android market or Google Play related errors.
Go to system settings>> Accounts>>Google>>remove your Gmail account
Now from settings>>Apps>>All> Force stop, Clear data and cache for Google Play Store, Google Service Framework, and Download Manager (like in method 1)
Now again go to settings>> Accounts>>Google>>Add your Gmail account
Restart your android and then accept all the Google terms and setup Google settings
Rerun Google Play Store and update or install your app.

Method 2-Clearing Proxy: (Usually Alcatel One Touch 6033x fixed by this method)
Go to settings >> Wireless and Networks >> More >> Mobile Networks

APN (Access Point Name) >> Maxis or Celcom or Digi >> Edit

Select clear Proxy option

Try to re-run the installation in Google Play Store

Method 3-Router Proxy Settings:
Open your router configuration or settings panel (usually typing 192.168.1.1 on the browser brings up the router settings on my TP-Link router)
Now find your filter settings >> Uncheck Proxy
If that didn’t work also uncheck the Cookies box from the filter settings
Now install your app from Google Play

Method 4- Alternative Google account
Create another Google account if you currently have only one account
Open Google Play Store >> Press Menu button >> Accounts >> select the alternative Gmail account
Now try installing the app

Method 5- Browser Fix: I found this solution on Phonebuff.
Go to play.google.com on your Computer’s web browser (preferably Google Chrome).
Sign in to your Google account (by hitting the sign-in button at the top right).
Search for the app you wish to purchase and download.
Open the app’s page up by clicking the title link.
On the “install” or “purchase” button, right-click and press “inspect element.”
Above the row that will be highlighted, you’ll see several lines of code. Locate the “data-ispurchased=” true” code (near the bottom of the paragraph).
Double click on the “true” in data-ispurchased=” true” and change it to “false” then press enter on your keyboard.
Now click on “installed” or “purchased” to buy the app as you normally would
These methods might seem like a lot of work but hopefully one of these methods will solve the 403 error for your Android.

How to unlock/bypass lock code iPad 4 version 6.1.3 with iTunes

Recently I received an Apple iPad WiFi + Cellular (Model: A1460) which had nothing displaying on the screen. The only thing I knew it was connected to my PC (Windows 8 64-bit) was via the "USB sound" when connecting the iPad 4 via the lighting USB connector.

Gather the software(s) below. (I won't be linking them here, just Google around. Unless you really can't find it email me)

1. iTunes

2. iPad 4 WiFi Firmware

3. iPad 4 WiFi+Cellular Firmware

Follow the steps below.

1. Enter DFU Mode (you can search at youtube on how to do this)

2. Plugin your iPad 4 WiFi+Cellular & restore with iPad 4 WiFi Firmware *press shift+restore (You'll meet with an error if you try to use the WiFi+Cellular firmware) at the middle of the progress you'll hear the "USB disconnect sound" once you don't hear anything else, press & hold the power+home button till you hear the "USB connect sound" once you hear that make sure that you can see the Apple logo.

3. Plug out the USB cable if you do it right you will end up in the lock screen. Once you're in the lock screen, do this process until it hangs "slide to unlock -> cancel -> slideshow button" *if there's no slideshow button I believe you can stop here.

4. Once the iPad has jammed up, plug it in & boot into DFU mode once again. Run the iPad 4 WiFi only firmware again this time it will show success updating the firmware but the screen will still be dark.

5. Reconnect the iPad to your PC & Itunes will prompt you to restore it once again. This time select the WiFi+Cellular firmware. If all is ok you'll end up with a brand new updated iPad 4.

That is all, I apologize for any typo or grammar mistake. Just sincerely hope that this sharing could assist someone till iOS 7 arrives this fall.

For some of us unfortunately you can't configure the access point straight from the "SETTINGS" menu in your iPhone 4. This is a website which will let you manually set and download it straight to your iPhone via WIFI connection

1. Connect your iPhone to the internet via WIFI.

2. Open Safari and visit help.benm.at

3. At the country selection page go to the bottom-most and select "Other or Custom"

4. Key-in your operator's name, access point, username & password.

5. Finally Download and Install the downloaded configuration.

6. Turn off your WIFI connection and try to use a cellular data connection to surf the web.

Hi, Today Apple Launched iOS5 many of us are eager to update and try it out but if you have a slow internet connection don't download the firmware via iTunes. (I tried twice with a couple of PC's but found out whenever it reached the 700mb mark - an error popped up stating that there was a fault in the connection and it was reset.)

I wasted 700mb of data bandwidth due to this. (But my friend paid for me - YES 4G charging RM0.03 per MB)

On Mac:

After you've done both use the [UPDATE] or [RESTORE] button to update the firmware.

If you've placed the firmware in the correct "iPhone Software Update" folder (note: for windows 32 bit and 64 bit it is different I've searched and come across one which states the location which is at C:\Documents and Settings\*User Name*\Application Data\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPhone Software Update but I found mine under AppData\Roaming\iTunes\iPhone Software Update) it will not re-download from Apple's Server. It will extract and download the file and update your phone to iOS5

*WARNING Pressing the Shift + Restore button will only bring you back to ERROR 3002. When you click the "More Information" you'll know what I mean.

Hope this helps... I spent 5 reckless and desperate days looking and trying to connect them... and boy when you succeed it's such a payoff.

I've successfully connected 2 laptops via wifi, 3 pcs via cable, and 1 CCTV Dvr via cable on my primary router.

2 laptops via wifi, 1 network printer, 2 pcs, and 1 CCTV DVR all via cable on my secondary router.

I was in despair when the computer store salesman told me that the D-link 2640T WDS function was not usable and access points for wireless bridging are not in production anymore... Until I found this manual for another model that has the same web management for D-link 2640T. Feel free to download and use it. Below are a few steps for preparation and other settings that are not included in the manual to speed things up before configuring your router.

Follow the steps below.

The best way is to use 2 sets of PCs and configure them at the same time, save you time and headaches...HAHA...

1. Prepare both your primary and secondary router in such a manner that they both have a different IP addresses. Configure your PC or Laptop to have a static IP address you can remove them after the configuration has ended. Set them to factory defaults before starting (Pressing the reset button for 11 seconds will hard reset the router)

Here is how to do it:

Primary router:

Connect your router to the PC with LAN cables >
Goto http://192.168.1.1 >
Login with username:admin & password:admin >
Select LAN > At IP key in 192.168.1.1 >
DHCP server Enabled, IP Range 192.168.1.100 - 192.168.1.200 >
Setup your ADSL internet connection and wireless LAN (Wifi). >
Goto Tool - System - Save and Reboot your router.

Secondary router:

Connect your router to the PC with LAN cables >
Goto http://192.168.1.1 >
Login with username:admin & password:admin >
Select LAN > At IP key in 192.168.1.2 >
Login to http://192.168.1.2>
Login with username:admin & password:admin >
DHCP server Disabled (your primary router will be assigning the IP address for your PCs)>
Goto Tool - System - Save and Reboot your router.

You can save and backup both routers configurations to a file just in case
Goto Tool - System - Save config to a file on your hard drive.

Now you can follow the instructions in the manual and by the way its really just that simple.

After you have already set them you can check whether both routers are connected by

Goto > Advance > Wireless Management > Associated List > There will be a list(s) of MAC ID's which you had configured/associated.

Stuff to remember are :
Both routers must have the same SSID, Channel, WEP security Key, WDS Mode, Model, Make, Chipset, Web Management Software.

Your router's WLAN (Wifi) MAC ID is the LAN ID printed on the sticker below th router and "YOU MUST ADD 1 TO THE MAC ID to ge the MAC ID of your WLAN (WIFI)".

For example if your MAC ID is 00:1C:81:18:FF:36 THEN YOUR WLAN (WIFI) MAC ID WILL BE 00:1C:81:18:FF:37

Else if your MAC ID is 00:1C:81:18:F8:FF THEN YOUR WLAN (WIFI) MAC ID WILL BE 00:1C:81:18:F9:00

The MAC ID is in hex. There are 16 alphanumerics in hex. 0-9 follow by a-f so which means A + 1 = B, F + 1 = 0F and so on...

How to use your D-Link 2640T router to link up and remotely view 2 CCTV(DVR) system

1st and foremost before you read this, pardon me if there were any errors or misleading guidelines found here k… this is just for sharing, I’m interested if there was another solution to it…

Follow the steps below.

1. Get a www.Dyndns.org account if you have a dynamic ip. (Dynamic IP addresses change all the time when you connect to your internet service provider, on the other hand static IP will always remain the same and you can also check it via www.canyouseeme.org <–keep this handy we’ll use it later)

2. Make sure both of your CCTV / DVR system supports network viewing. Set both systems to have different individual static ip and ports.

Example :

1st DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.122 [port = 98]

2nd DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.123 [port = 99]

3. Now log in to your D-Link router via http://192.168.1.1(default username = admin and password = admin) and select the Dynamic DNS page. There you will see a dropdown box with the option to select the www.dyndns.org account. Key in your account details and the hostname which you have created at dyndns.org.

Example :

ddns = mycctv.dyndns.org

username = (dyndns.org username) password = (dyndns.org password)

4. Now select the DMZ and enable it by keying in one of your DVR system’s IP address

Example :

1st DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.122

5. Go to the LAN Clients page and add both the DVR system’s IP addresses to the Static IP category.

Example :

1st DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.122 [hostname = anthing1]

2nd DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.123 [hostname = anything2]

6. Now go to the virtual server page and select the IP address which you have just added and create a port mapping rule.

How to :-

Select 1st DVR system IP ADD = 192.168.1.122

Click on the user radio button and click ADD button below the selection box, inside this page you’ll have to specify a rule name (example port98), key in your port number which links to your IP ADD (example 98) in all the four text box below and click save.

Now go back to the Virtual server page and add the rule to your IP above. To add the rule select the IP address you want, click on the user radio button there you will see the rule which you just created click on the ADD button on the right of the rule selection box.

Do the same for the 2nd DVR system’s IP (192.168.1.123) and remember to create the new rule which specify the other port number (99).

7. Click on Tools -> System -> and select save and reboot to apply the changes to your D-Link 2640T router.

8. Go to www.canyouseeme.org to check whether your ports are accessible from the internet remotely. If you can well…

9. You can now use the dyndns.org account for remotely viewing your system. Be sure to remember the port number which you are connecting to. Good Luck.

Remember to backup and save your config.

(p/s for mobile phones you can use the softwares here http://211.22.74.18/ to view remotely, there are 4 java application try and see which one can your DVR support.)
